Guest Reviews

- arnell1000 (1/5): - The view was the only good thing! The front door looked like Rising Damp! We booked the Deluxe ses view, but it looked nothing like the photo. The room smelt fusty, so opened all the windows. Stains on carpets and just a bit of a dump. The shower was boiling hot and couldn't turn it down and then the smell of rotten eggs was unreal. If this was deluxe what are the other rooms like?

- Sarah (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Everything Water too hot. Not negative just an observation

- William (8/5): Whitby Treat. - Location,Big room excellent shower. Unable to park outside hotel Only 2 TV Channels on.
- Emma (1/5): Avoid. - The location on the sea front was amazing. (For the 10mins I stayed in the room) The key code to the door didn't work so I had to ring and request another. Room 9 which is the deluxe sea view is disgusting, stains on the carpet and lino, the window had been cracked open obviously to attempt to get rid of all the little black flies, these were all over the window sill some dead majority not. There was mould on the windowsill, massive cracks around the window frame, cobwebs all over the window and the entire room, the bathroom was grim, lino coming up in the corner with black visible underneath, the ceiling looked like there had been a leak from pipework at some point, the shower was mouldy, the toilet had limescale all around it, door frames were cracked on entering the room, there was food debris under the bed so it hasn't been hoovered, the corridor outside the room stunk of urine, there was a dog constantly barking, the exterior of the property was bad, there was fag ends on top of the bay window below my window view, I couldn't really see the sea view as my bedroom window was that dirty, the exterior of the building is run down, paint flaking off, rusty tiles laid on the floor, broken tiles leading up to the front door. Instantly left and requested a refund. I've never experienced anything like it and I'm shocked how appalling it looks compared to its photos on here.
- Graham (1/5): Cheap for a reason - Location Having to pay £40 for 2 tiny chihuahuas that made no mess or noise and slept together in a tiny cage which was the same price as 2 huge dogs that stayed in the room above that constantly barked and stunk like a pig farm it was disgusting. And our room was really messy n hadn’t been cleaned or hoovered in a while
- Anne (10/5): -
- Karen (5/5): Smelly overpowering dog urine throughout the basement area. - Good location Room was OK. Stain on bedding. One of the accommodation nxt to where we where staying put us off. The smell from one of the rooms Zepher was unbearable over the powering smell of dog urine which overpowered the corridors and Dogs barking from that room. We could smell the dogs from our room. Such a shame as this has put us off ever going back.
- Angie (7/5): Ideal for a short getaway, be prepared to search far and wide for off street parking - Location was good Struggled to access as I booked through booking. Com they said they didn’t have my contact number to advise of code. Struggled to call and get sorted due to poor network, my husband was not happy
- Lindsey (10/5): -
- James (8/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): - Superb location
- Ralph (9/5): Family time - Good value for money Bathroom bit small room 3
- Lucy (7/5): -
- Paul (9/5): - Everything...except the room could do with a toaster !!!! Nothing
- Anita (4/5): Maintenance desparetly needed - The view The smell was vile, the pillows uncomfortable, the shower couldn't be regulated and was to hot, mould on the walls, also mould around the sink in the kitchen, leaking kitchen sink
- Martin (9/5): - Location and great see view No staff there
- Twheeler79 (10/5): -
- Damian (5/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful room and facilities, amazing location. The windows were filthy which ruined the stunning sea views to be honest.
- Laura (10/5): - Location The key pads for entry
- Marshall (8/5): - Next to the sea
- julie (7/5): - Location and cleanliness No toilet roll when we arrived ,
- Michala (10/5): Great stay ignore the negative reviews - Great property and easy to follow self service check in. Room had everything you needed for a couple of nights. Nothing to not like about the property as it is a little walk uphill however views are stunning.
- Jackie (1/5): Had been looking forward to staying in what looked to be a beautiful apartment but was sadly disappointed with what appe - Ideal location with beautiful views It was nothing like the pictures. Filthy dirty with an awful smell coming from the bathroom. The shower only has one temperature setting, scolding. We couldn’t stand under it. Advertised as self catering and there is a convection hob but no pots plates or utensils so you can’t make any food.
- Alan (5/5): Whitby,s beautiful. Our apartment was not. - The view was nice , would have been nicer with clean windows to look through. Smell in room , clearly coming from shower drain . Extractor not working in bathroom. Only one flush button working in toilet . Bed very creaky. Damp patch in corner , peeling paint. These are all things that can be fixed , we feel it's a run down apartment block.
- Turner (8/5): -
- Mandy (2/5): - The price was the only good thing unfortunately We were 5 storeys up very little ventilation
The shower was so hot it was a danger
There weren't instructions for anything we found the WiFi instructions by chance the morning we left
This accommodation is basic which is reflected in the price ..however that room should have a health warning
- Smith (8/5): -
- Janette (8/5): - Location and having a ground floor room. Would have been nice to have had a microwave. Information about not to cook kippers but nothing available to if we did..
- Mallender (7/5): Enjoyed my stay in Whitby, and the location of the accommodation was great, but it was neither a bnb experience nor a se - Great location, comfy bed, spacious. Separate bathroom. Good price. Liked the keyless entry system. Not as clean as I would have liked. Mould in shower, water too hot in shower. Dirty skirting boards. Stain on carpet. A curly wurly on the sink (not cadburys but not sure whose).
- Dixon (9/5): - Location, price.
Facilities. No WiFi.
- sarah (7/5): Very local to the beach. Very clean. Appreciate the tea and coffee - The location The shower got too hot
- Tony (3/5): Disappointed as we gave the accommodation a second chance but again let down by the toilet not working - Location only Very basic
Toilet was broken and we couldn’t flush it as the cistern leaked. Wasting gallons of water a day.
- Shelley (9/5): Great room at a great price! - Fabulous location, great price, clean and comfortable room with everything we needed.
- Lord Stephen (7/5): Great location - Location is awesome The room could be repainted and cleaned properly let it down quite a lot have stayed here before in different room I wouldn’t rebook this one. I would opt for one of the rooms facing the sea.
- Geoffrey (8/5): British weather - Excellent location.
Beautiful sun set
Sunrise.
Very relaxing.
Nice to get away from the city. The Rain,

- Suzanne Patricia (9/5): Whitby - Fab comfy bed in a large spacious room. Loved the pictures on the wall. Great shower and love the mural.
I especially want to thank the lady on the phone who helped me with the check-in process ✨️ Entrance to shower a bit of a squeeze 😃
- Graham (5/5): Misleading, not 4*, hidden parking costs - Comfortable bed, spacious room, hot shower. Hidden parking charges adding £30 to a budget stay.
Being told we could check in at 3pm only to find the access code for the door wasn't activated until 4pm (photos can be provided!)
After 4pm code still wouldn't work but couldn't get through to an actual person for almost half an hour to send a new code, very unprofessional.
No replenishment of tea, coffee, milk or loo roll and there was not enough for the 3 days, had to buy more.
Calling yourselves 4* is extremely misleading!
Room wasn't cleaned properly at all. Very dirty table, very dirty shower trap. Floor not hoovered properly.
Not enough facilities to make snacks and drinks.
No towel warmers, couldn't dry towels.
Wouldn't recommend at all. We use budget hotels regularly but and don't mind cheap and cheerful but still expect cleanliness and professionalism.
- Joanne (4/5): - Location The extremely strong cigarette smell.
- Mark (3/5): - Good situated for town centre. Cafe on silver street was very good for breakfast. The kitchen we paid extra for bigger kitchen all what was there was a kettle and fridge. At least a microwave and toaster.
- Hewitt (3/5): - Were it situated No network connection dirty outside space shower dangerous very hot couldn't change temp had to wait for maintenance
- Karen (4/5): - The location The smell from the bathroom as the bed was 2steps away
- Barbara (9/5): Excellent value - Clean, comfortable, location
- Dave (7/5): -
- Hinchliffe-frost (1/5): Uncomfortable and like staying in a run down hostel - The location- that was it!! It was shocking- lots of things broken- shower blocked- bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept in! Just not nice and very shoddy!!

- Helen (1/5): Would not stay here again - When we arrived the code didn't work - I called the number and was able to access the room with a new code. Once we'd accessed the room we noticed there was no kettle. I called the number again and was told that they wouldn't give a replacement as we were only booked in for one night. So we went and bought a kettle.
Then we noticed the toilet was not working at around 8pm, by this point I was losing the will to live with the quality of our experience so far. We managed to flush the toilet with water from the tap so I called first thing the next morning. The advisor said again they wouldn't do anything until we left but I don't feel confident that anything will be done as I'm sure the cleaner would have noticed the toilet was broken when they cleaned the room but nothing was done to remedy it. This was a very disappointing stay and would appreciate some of the money paid being refunded.
- Georgina (8/5): Seabreeze room 4 no sea view - Brilliant location close to the beach, taxi are cheap from city centre to accommodation beds are so comfortable, 24-7 customer service call if anything goes wrong you can call them. Shower was amazing nice and hot if u needed it but could control settings. Tv was so small couldn't hardly see from were bed was, windows could do with a good clean from time to time, key access was a bit difficult sometimes to room keypad wouldn't wake up
- Ellie (9/5): Close to the sea, lots to do, lots of space. - You can see the sea from the bed! There really wasn't much we didn't like loved our stay, the bulb in the main room could do with being brighter because it's not much use haha, apart from that we had a lovely time.
- Lynsey (7/5): Very basic, but clean, tidy and great location! - Stayed for a mini break. Property was basic, but to be expected for what we paid. Bathroom, towels, bed linen were all clean which is the main thing for us as we're using this as a base. Location is fabulous, right near the whale jawbones (Whitby) so again for what we paid this was a bonus. Parking wasn't included in price, but if you contact property they can provide parking "scratch cards" for designated streets nearby. We paid an extra £20 for 4 nights of parking, which was a bargain. As it was a self catering property, we did expect some cutlery, plates. But only thing provided is fridge, kettle and 2 mugs, so I had to buy disposable cutlery just to be able to make a coffee. Also wifi is obtained through the TV and TV has to ge left on to keep the signal. Signal does drop regularly too, so constantly having to log back in. As we were only there a few nights, it wasn't too much of a problem for us, but I just feel these are basics that need a little attention?
- Sue (5/5): Stay was ok very - The location Unfortunately there were a few problems some which can be fixed but others not probably due to the building. Shower water to hot to get to get in to, no way of reducing the temperature. No plug in the sink, little silver trails on the carpet, glass mug found under the bed, no phone signal. Thin duvet which was a bit cold at night. Smell of cigarette smoke in the corridors. No instructions on the evacuation poster.
Could maybe do with a comfortable chair to sit in.
Sometimes the main front door wasn’t shut but that’s down to the guests, a bit unnerving for myself as I was staying on my own.
This is why I have given a basic feedback, sorry.
- Alex (10/5): -
- Ruth (3/5): Location good - Room size No working shower. Temperature scolds no adjustment working . Some ones socks left under bed side cabinet. Ended up with 2 door entry codes first did not work . Rang complained
- Prajapati (10/5): -
- Maxwell (4/5): - Location It was basic had walk 6 lot stairs to get room as was situation was at top partner has arthritis in hes hip was a struggle
- Paul (9/5): - They were good apartments The walk to the centre
- brian (5/5): - Location, shower and it was clean No mirror in bedroom no spoons to make a cuppa only stick things like you get in McDonald's, 4 tea bags to last 4 days
- Jimmer76 (9/5): -
- David (1/5): -
- Benitez (10/5): - Size of rooms, seaview, ideal location.
- DARREN (7/5): Absolutely excellent stay beautiful place room great just a shame about the mix up with parking however would like to re - Excellent everything needed or required taken care of No scratch card for parking on arrival so extra expensive to use car park which had been ordered prior to arrival which meant time spent having to go back to car park and paying
- Solavan (10/5): Great stay in a great hotel - Garden area was amazing for morning coffee
Location spot on with plenty of parking
Keyless entry made it so much easier with access Na
- Carl (1/5): Crack house with out toilet roll - Nothink it woz like staying in a crack house but with no toilet roll worst place ever stayed had to put fridge in bathroom az the smell woz over poweri g Eany think about it itiz a 2 star hotel but even a 1 star would have toilet roll
- Manish (10/5): Location at sunrise and sunset point. - It’s a perfect Location. Self check-in is super easy. You can see the sunrise and sunset. It’s beautiful. Definitely value for money. Very neat and clean. What I like the most it’s nice peace and quiet. For me this was the best holiday till now at SEA BREEZE. Bar pubs restaurant everything is near just few mins walk. Definitely 100% I will visit again. Thank you.
Regards Manish WiFi. I need to turn the TV on to use WiFi, I’m not TV person. I did struggle a bit with mobile network. I wouldn’t say that as complain.
- Rosie (4/5): You get what you pay for - cheap for a seaside night's stay but dirty and not very comfortable. - The room was a good size, entry instructions were simple and the location on West Cliff was great. There were dead bugs on the window sill in the bathroom and despite the room being very large, there were no comfortable chairs to sit on - only two hard plastic, cheap kitchen chairs. The window looked out over the sea but had large smears on it, hadn't been cleaned. The bed was very rickety so when either of us rolled over, the other one had to cling on for dear life - if we'd wanted the wave experience, we'd have rented a boat... The whole decor was very tired and had a sort of "crack-den" vibe. There was no contact with anyone at all, from booking right through to leaving. Very impersonal, in fact that's not even the right word since we saw nobody at all! The

- Paul (8/5): - Clean room I know people say about internet it’s in smart tv
- Jon (10/5): - Is was in a good walking distance from the town center the room was amazing clean fresh towels left out for our stay it had a kettle with tea and coffees back entrance as well if you wanted a quick exit I would definitely recommend staying here again five stars 🌟
- 854c4421626f72dbe88ea39dd5de8175 (8/5): Great value and location - Location Couldn’t get phone or WiFi signal in the room.
- 40b9895c91a370986b0bddbe645cc4b2 (9/5): - The bed and pillows were very comfortable with only one little problem I had and that was the white pillow case kept coming off because of the white waterproof pillow cover Be told to switch on the TV to get the WI-FI password and then being told that there is no WI-FI connection and then when I ask a member of staff about the WI-FI on my phone I was told that there is no WI-FI in the building so the sign near the TV in the Room needs to be removed because that is false advertising
- 46331d23ab6e7080db5cec8d021df06a (3/5): I wouldn’t come back, although the location is very close to the beach - Location No working Wi-Fi, cold at night, thin duvet, stained carpet, stained bedsheet, dirty windows and coffee table, room and bathroom are very dated

- bc61aa2bcdbe718c212973f269eb925d (5/5): So so - Location and view. Spacious room and bathroom. The room and bathroom were dirty.
Hair in the shower after previous guests, dirty fridge and items in the fridge from previous guests.
Paint peeling of the walls, dirty windows that spoiled the view. Only towels provided and kettle with some tea and coffee saches. No soap or handwash gel. No working wifi. No signal in the building even on mobile internet. Light on bedside had usb plug but there was only 1 usb plug on 1 side of the bed.

- Angie (5/5): - The view and closeness to main areas Paid for deluxe suite that stated, it had a kitchenette and didn't. I bought food to cook this was very disappointing. I was there for 4 nights with my son.
Internet didn't work
- Julie (1/5): - Photos looked nice on the website ,but don't be fooled
- Craig (8/5): - Good location...... close to sea .... 5 min walk to town shower was amazing Celler room no Internet no signal on phones window was covered in black flies so cud not keep window open so not good in hot weather tv flickered when turned on but cane to normal after a little bit of time tries to message host ppl but most of the time did not explain or reply back had to come out upnthe steps and out the main door to get signal n message or phone friends or family and receive messages or miss calls etc parking is tight and have to pay 5 pound a day and not garenteed a space the keys to the rooms n main doors are digital and need to remember the code's and stressful
- Katherine (10/5): Brilliant for a quick stay over night. - The location, comfy bed, tea and coffee making, the small outdoor area for the dog. Perfect. N/a
- Sumanth reddy (10/5): -
- Palmer (7/5): - The location was great 👍 Had to go up and down steps to town and back.
- Kath (1/5): Whitby was wonderful the hotel not what it said it was when booking it - There was nothing to like. We booked a deluxe room. It was not deluxe. It was nothing like the pictures on line. The shower was no good only 1 light worked
Would not go there again
- Paul (9/5): -
- MBK 2008 (8/5): Excellant view and location. - Great location and lovely view from the room. Room clean but basic. Tea and coffee provided. Free parking outside the appartment for Blue badge holders but pay at meter or permit parking for other users. To walk to the shops or harbour was around 10 mins. I wouldn't rate the room as deluxe and the self catering part was a kettle and fridge. No other kitchen items like plates and cutley.
Shower didn't drain properly and the shower door didn't stay closed.
