Guest Reviews
- Angéline (6/5): Beautiful place, great location and lovely staff BUT some issues really need fixing - The location was fabulous, the place was very clean, the staff was incredibly nice (the owner came to welcome us with some mint tea even though we arrived very late at night (our flight was delayed)). He was also very responsive on WhatsApp and arranged drivers for us multiple times. They were all great too. Breakfast was fantastic. The place itself is beautiful and well decorated. Having one bathroom per bedroom is very convenient. The pool is small but very private. Unfortunately, there were some negative elements which were hard to ignore. The main issue that we encountered was that the room on the top floor had an awful sewage smell coming from the bathroom. We could barely sleep the first night. We then told the owner who was very reactive and sent someone to fix the issue the following day. It did greatly improve the situation, but the smell was still there. It was bearable but certainly not nice.
Mattresses are not the best, the one in the room on the ground floor is very uncomfortable. The others are ok but very firm.
There are humidity issues, you can see humidity stains on the walls. In the room on the ground floor, the ceiling is damaged because of the humidity which causes dirt to fall on the bed and pillows.
There are no nets on the windows, so bugs tend to get in (and local cats too! - don't get me wrong, they are super cute, but not the cleanest).
- rebecca (9/5): A beautiful house right in the heart of Marrakech - Plenty of space, lovely bedrooms, beautiful design and excellent location. The plunge pool in the sunshine is fab! N/A
- Barbara (10/5): Excepcional !
- TERESA (9/5): - A localização. A simpatia e disponibilidade do anfitrião. O pequeno almoço fantástico
- Anne Sophie (7/5): -
- Thibaut (8/5): -
- Maree (3/5): Don’t go there, go to Thailand - The house is beautiful with traditional Moroccan architecture. It has four spacious rooms, which were overall quite good. The lady who prepared breakfast was very kind and took care of everything with great attention. However, the location of the apartment was not convenient, as it was far and not very comfortable to reach. The location of the house was very disturbing and uncomfortable. Although it is situated in the old town, it felt far and difficult to reach. There was trash everywhere around the property and the neighboring houses are built very close together, which made us feel unsafe — it would be easy for someone to enter the house from the roof. The apartment sits in the middle of the old market; we were a group of male friends, but if there were women with us they would likely feel uncomfortable walking here at night. People in the area were not welcoming at all, and whenever we asked for directions or help some would demand large sums of money.
There are many narrow alleys which sometimes felt strange and frightening. We experienced an attempted theft and were at risk of being stabbed. Because of what happened, we cut our trip short on the fourth day, cancelled all our plans, and left Morocco. As Arabs, we did not expect to be treated like this by other Arabs; I personally do not think I will visit Morocco again, at least not this neighborhood.
The streets are dirty and smell bad, access to the house is complicated and confusing, Google Maps does not work well there, and internet connection is poor. Beggars are common throughout the old town, and vendors sometimes come up to you and demand money even if you only took a normal photo. I do not recommend this place unless you are five men who are prepared to defend yourselves, because we had to use force to protect ourselves as happened to us. One person who helped us find the house later demanded 1,300 MAD for his help, and unfortunately something unpleasant happened to him afterwards.
- Dj (1/5): Absolutely Terrible. Avoid at all costs! - The housekeeper was very kind. Where do I start? I have no idea where the other, very positive came from!
The host who met us, did not show us around the property when we arrived and it felt like a very sketchy area and set up.
When I asked about the nearest supermarket, I was told on WhatsApp that there are loads in the square. Not that helpful to be honest. Despite walking the streets for an hour, I never did find one, just overpriced, dirty kiosks where we managed to get a few snacks for the child in our party.
The AC is from 1982 and does not function in all rooms, has error codes after a few minutes, and smells. The another room the AC was so outrageously loud it had to be turned off to even try and rest (not that you will get any sleep).
There is extensive mould and damp in the dining room, lounge nook, and the downstairs bedroom.
There are flying bugs that bite you in all bedrooms - this was the deal breaker for us!
The noise in this riad is utterly deafening. I cannot explain how loud it was with motorcycles tearing around outside at all hours. If you want to sleep in Marrakesh, do not book here. We booked alternative accommodation at 2am when we realised it was not going to work out for us.
The lovely housekeeper who we had prepare us an evening meal and breakfast, actually stays onsite, which we did not realise, so we were slightly confused when we saw lights on in the downstairs area. It was a bit odd.
I should add that we are fairly easy going travellers and we are not people who complain easily. We kind of roll with things but this place failed to meet any expectation, and we left after less than 24 hours.
I also do not usually take to platforms to leave poor reviews at all, as I appreciate people are usually doing their best. However, the host has refused to refund us for our unspent nights or, in fact, anything, and Booking.com apparently can not do anything about it, so this is the only way I can express how unhappy I am with both the property and Booking.com
- Genesta (9/5): An oasis of calm amongst the chaos of Marrakech - Location was great, quiet area of a bustling Main Street, rooftop pool was superb to cool off, spacious, comfy beds and pillows No signs to give any indication where the Riad was, 3 young lads had to help us find it which was very frustrating
- Paola (10/5): Lovely stay for a long weekend! - Wonderful riad very close to place Djema el fnaa but at the same time very quiet; every room with its own bathroom, beautiful and comfortable common areas. Perfect for a group of friends like us. The staff is warm and welcoming and always ready to help. Very good breakfast made fresh in the morning! Nothing we did not like - the only thing to know is that the central riad in this season is not reached by sunlight, so it stays really chilly (which may turn to an upside in the hot season). All the rooms have splits for heat so it is not really an issue.
- Ioana (10/5): Exceptional - I had an absolutely delightful experience at this Riad, which far surpasses the beauty depicted in photographs. Each room exudes a unique story and features its own bathroom, ensuring complete privacy and comfort. The impeccable cleanliness and delicious breakfast contributed to an unforgettable stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this oasis of refinement and elegance.
- Vikki (10/5): Big gem in a very good location in the Medina. - Entire Riad to ourselves. Plenty of room to spread out or come together as family. There were three of us traveling and Riad was very spacious. It’s well enough off the noisy alleyways to provide quieter sleep, but close enough to walk the entire Medina. The main square was less than a 5 minute walk. Split units in every bedroom allowing us to have heat in our rooms, which now I understand is not real common in the Medina. Also plenty of hot water, which also may not be a given. We had trouble with both apple and google maps taking us to incorrect location. We whatsapped abderahimma (host and pardon if I mispelled his name) met us at a local eatery and escorted us to Riad where we were met with lovely staff member who provided us with tea and cookies. We had issue with toilet dripping and it was remedied very quickly. Very good value for the money. The communal areas were cold, but I think unusually cold while we were there. My nephew thought his bed was extremely hard, but mine was fine, a little firmer than what I am used to but slept well.
