Guest Reviews
- Joanne (10/5): Hidden gem - Perfect property.
Deceivingly spacious.
The hosts have made it a genuine home from home.
We will return.
Not too far away from everything, but far enough to have peace and quiet. Nothing.

- Shaun (10/5): Lively weekend - Beautiful, peaceful location. Everything in the property you would need for a few days stay. Excellent hosts Nothing
- Rob (10/5): Thank you for our stay in your lovely cottage. You went above and beyond to make our little break perfect. Thank you. - Lovely cottage in beautiful location.
Very clean and tidy.
Super host. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ N/A
- Maria (8/5): Hosts helpful with our queries. - Paddock area great for dog. Drive is gated, cottage cold as weather turned cold.
- Turner (10/5): - Beautiful place very relaxing and lovely people no more too say
- James (10/5): Fantastic stay at welcoming cottage. - Location was excellent and a great base for exploring the Yorkshire dales. The Smithy was very clean and well equipt with very helpful hosts. Garden and surrounding area well maintained, peaceful and with lots of space to enjoy.

- Susanne (10/5): We loved it here...it was perfect for us - We loved it here. Perfect pet friendly cottage. Quiet, lovely views. Everything we could need. Super comfy beds, clean. Enjoyed using the outside space too.Warmly welcomed by owner when we arrived. Friendly and helpful . Great communication before arrival and helped us with suggestions of other arrangements we needed to make to attend a wedding nearby. We would definitely recommend.
- John (7/5): Great base from which to explore the Dales - Lovely quiet setting, very comfortable accommodation, well equipped kitchen and easy to use woodburner.
Great location. There are two very friendly pubs serving food we liked, within easy reach of the property. It's also close to Richmond and Castle Barnard, which we liked very much. It's a great place from which to explore the surrounding area. We brought our dog and really needed to be able to let her out into a safe area, away from chickens and rabbits that would not be safe with her off the lead. This might not be a problem with a less lively dog!
- Claire (9/5): Cosy dog friendly cottage. - Clean, cosy, comfortable cottage. Very well equipped. Friendly hosts. Beautiful location. Our dog was welcome and enjoyed playing with the resident dog. Loved having horses on site. Enjoyed visiting nearby Richmond and doing a tour of the castle. The bathroom is downstairs, which I hadn't realised!
- Leslie (10/5): - The location was very good for reaching local villages and towns and area's of North Yorkshire it is certainly one we will book again We cannot think of anything negative about the property
- Mick (10/5): Excellent choice for short or longer break. - Spacious, well equipped, clean. N/A
- Della (10/5): -

- Dragomir (10/5): The best place for stay in Yorkshire dales area! - Exceptionally well planned and maintained property, combining modern comfort with traditional features. Real fire fireplace with supply of wood, real wooden floors. The view toward Yorkshire landscape is a big bonus. Combine all this with an amazing garden and very welcoming hosts - and you have probably the best place to stay for a visit to Yorkshire dales, City of York and all the castles and abbeys around! All was perfect.
- Laura-jayne (10/5): Perfect. - Immaculately presented space, well appointed furniture and furnishings. We particularly liked the abundance of pillows in the bedrooms and the extra blankets on each bed were a godsend for my tall son whose feet poke out the bottom of the duvet! Bedrooms are good sizes and my teenagers were comfortable in the twin room.

- Ramsey (10/5): Excellent hosts and even bette location. - Location was excellent couldn’t have asked for better. Plenty of space within the accommodation. Big garden to walk the the dog in which was excellent. Only criticism was the weather but can’t hold that against the host. Something to do with global warming I’ve been led to believe. More wet that warming.
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb - Lovely and clean, very comfortable, and central to various locations to visit. Made to feel very welcome and comfortable. Even freshly laid hens eggs to eat 😋. Would definitely good back. Everything was lovely.

When the weather allowed, the seating area is perfect for outdoor meals/drinks. Cottage spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hosts amazing - we felt very welcome and relaxed. Excellent stay. Thank you.
- John (10/5): Top drawer. - Very spacious and comfortable 2 bedroom house; a great base for exploring the Northern Dales and Richmond. Our hostesses were very welcoming and helpful. The log fire was most welcome during some chilly May weather. Our meal at the Bay Horse, Ravensworth was first class. No issues.

- Red (10/5): It was a real pleasure meeting the family and spending time at The Smithy. - It had a wonderful feeling as soon as you walked through the door. Exceptional facilities and beautiful views in a relaxed atmosphere. Lovely to be surrounded by wildlife. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely return whatever the weather. ☔️ Everything was perfect! 😁
- Derek (10/5): Wonderful relaxing stay in great comfort both inside and out in a great location. - Location was wonderfull, accommodation was very comfortable and spotless, with everything that you could need for your stay. Christine and Lynne who we met in arrival couldn't have been more friendly and helpfull. The attached patio for Smithys had great views over not only the small holdings garden but also into the distance. We had great weather during our stay and stayed out on the patio all but the last night (it rained in the evening). Our hosts noticed our use of the patio and added umbrella and solar lights to enhance our stay, which enhanced the use of the provided bbq use we had on the Saturday. Loved seeing the wildlife in the garden and the hosts very friendly dogs. There was no downside to the trip with good likelihood that we will return sometime in the future.

Wish I had come more prepared for dining in. We loved the location and setting. Birds, chickens and rabbits in the garden every morning. Weather was a bit rubbish but was still nice just to chill in the cottage. Owners were amazing, on hand if anything needed and eggs from their chickens were fab. My son wishes we lived there! Hoping to come back in summer 😊 Nothing. We loved everything.
