Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (10/5): A perfect family weekend away - Everything . Cosy and beautiful seaside touches Nothing
- Elizabeth (10/5): Perfect much needed cosy family break in a great location - Location. Nice beds. Well equipped. Cosy. TV’s in every room. It was all good.
- john (9/5): -
- Zoe (8/5): A lovely seaside stay, perfect for a small family. - Easy access into the town. Everything we needed. Nice to have the outdoor patio for the afternoon sun and evenings Lugging all our baggage to the car. But that can’t be helped due to the nature of Brixham.
- Helen (8/5): Super little cottage - Amazing location and wonderfully clean, warm and cosy! It was a really lovely cottage that was so close to the harbour. It's has really cute decor and an overall wonderful feeling about the place. Loved the top bedroom - we requested for the 2 single beds to be put together as a king bed, and our request was answered immediately. Found a parking space without issue. Thank you, Claire, for a wonderful stay (despite the rain!). Stairs to the top bedroom very steep, bathroom on the ground floor and no garden for the dog. These things didn't impact our stay, but it might affect others.
- Helen (6/5): Beautiful location , couple of issues which I mentioned and I wrote in guest comments book - Pretty little cottage On a very steep hill which I didn’t appreciate was so steep , also the second internal flight of stairs where very steep to come down in the night , with a very scary little landing by the back door , which was easy to go backwards from .

- Jenna (10/5): - We had the best week at family tides, such a great location. Perfect for getting to the shops and places to eat. Lots of walks to do straight from the house. We managed a whole week of just using public transport or walking and not having to use the car. The house was so lovely, very tastefully decorated. A real home away from home. There was nothing not to like.
- Claire (8/5): Beautiful Brixham - Very close to town very clean lots of room
- williams (10/5): - It is a beautiful cottage that is tastefully decorated and fully equipped with everything you need and more. Excellent location. There was nothing to dislike.
- Watson (7/5): Well-equipped cottage, great terrace but the hilly location & many steps may be a challenge to some - Location is great, just a couple of minutes walk into the harbour and there are some great restaurants. Cottage was very well equipped and clean Bathrooms: the listing says 2 bathroms which is not correct. There is a family bathroom with shower in the bath and an ensuite w.c and hand basin, not a second bathroom. Towels were very small - one proper bath towel would have been nice. It should be made clear that the walk into town involves 74 steps so some fitness is required (our elderly parents would not have manged the steps). Also the stairs in the cottage are steep and narrow - part of it's 'oldness' but perhaps should be flagged up as it could be an issue for anyone whose mobility isn't good, especially to the top floor. It's 24 steps up to the road and parking - which was tricky! Lastly and perhaps why our rating isn't as high as it could have been - the overwhelming smell of damp as you walked in was most off-putting and in fact prevented us from sitting in the sitting room. Thankfully the weather was great so we were either on the terrace or out in the town.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful accomadation.
So cosy.Has everything you could want and more.
Lovely comfy beds.
Loved the balcony.would definitely stay again.
We loved it and didn't want to leave. Nothing not to like.
- Phil (9/5): Host was great, location was great, really clean and well equipped property, will visit again. - Location fabulous - right near the quay. You have to drop on with a parking space but thats the same across Brixham.
- Chantelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nick (9/5): Brixham in the spring sunshine - Beautiful houses, loved it Nothing
- Carpet54 (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Juliette (9/5): Superb - Brilliant location, lovely cottage with all the facilities you could need for a short break. Very clean and lots of attention to details in the decor and thoughtful touches. The double bed was very uncomfortable and we didn't sleep well. We are 5'8 and 6'3 respectively and the bed was just too small (Queensize rather than double I think?)
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Really sweet cottage, perfect location and clean as a whistle. Thank you!
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (10/5): Cosy, warm cottage in perfect location - Great location near the harbour. Even though close, it was very peaceful. The cottage is so cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. I slept brilliantly. Host is very friendly and helpful. We loved it and would book again x Nothing x
- Sarah (9/5): Beautiful and well appointed cottage - Tea/coffee milk and biscuits provided on arrival which was a lovely touch. No fault of the owner, there was limited and restricted parking.
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was lovely. Very comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Nothing
- Tim (9/5): Enjoyed a lovely weekend in a quaint little cottage - Well equipped, beautifully decorated with home from home comforts. Very clean. Nice and toasty warm during our autumn weekend stay. We loved staying here. Within walking distance into Brixham and a short car ride to Dartmouth using the ferry crossing. Can’t find fault with the property!
- Carly (9/5): Beautiful property, beautiful Brixham! - The location was just amazing, couldn’t have been in a better position. We didn’t know until we read the welcome book that dogs weren’t allowed upstairs, so we couldn’t enjoy the fabulous balcony as it was located upstairs.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Cleanliness and very good facilities in the property
Ideal location for getting to the harbour and the town centre (especially the main bus stop) Parking was very limited but fortunately, we were able to find something near the property (but that is a Brixham thing and not specific to the property)
- Casey (8/5): Very cozy comfortable stay - Very comfortable, clean and cosy. Top floor bedroom would need to go bottom floor for bathroom over night.
- Maynard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Avril (8/5): Gorgeous property, fab location, highly recommend! - Gorgeous property, beautiful decoration, well kitted out. Plug near the dressing table….such a godsend!
The outside area upstairs/terrace is delightful! Spent so much time up there, ate out there when we could too. Dining table a little tricky as had to pull out every time we needed it. Not a major factor at all, just worth noting if you’re there in the colder months and can’t enjoy alfresco dining.
- Paul (9/5): We all had a really great holiday -
- Joy (10/5): Excellent stay loved your home Brixham and surrounding areas , had excellent weather , and enjoyed our holiday hopefully - Property was cosy, clean , loved the decor, and had everything that you needed. Loved the outside area , ate our meals most days there , was just a short walk to the front of Brixham , didn’t have any trouble finding a car space . My only problem was it was very light in the bedroom early in morning, could have done with black out linings on curtains.
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about Family Tides. The location was spot on for walking in to Brixham harbour. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you need.
Claire, the host replied very quickly.
We loved the terrace to sit out in the evening.
Will definitely recommend and plan to stay again. Nothing to dislike at all
- Julie (10/5): Wonderful facilities and sun terrace is a good asset. - It was clean and well equipped, with everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. Bathroom is particularly impressive and ensuite loo on 1st floor was useful. Not having a garden was at times an issue with the dogs, we knew this and still booked for the overall gem of a house it is. Steps were steep for us unfit city folk and older dog struggled but overall it's a great location and we didn't have to use the car for the whole time which is a bonus.
- Suzanne (10/5): Comfortable , super location and very clean and facilities excellent. - Absolutely delightful and lovely little added extras made it exceptionally great value and very comfortable. Super facilities, the hosts had thought of everything. Two sets of keys would have been useful but this is really just personal preference and not a criticism.
- Dawn (8/5): Great location and a great property. - The location of the property was excellent, just minutes from the main harbour (although the stairs were hard work!)
We loved the roof terrace and the whole house had a homely but quirky feel. The lack of parking was tricky and whilst the location for the harbour was perfect, the narrow streets and hills made it hard to access/unpack.
A small point but the main bed was tiny!
- Gary (10/5): Great location, property was great. - Location was excellent for us, we managed to find on street parking near the property which was bonus. All good, nothing to complain about.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Leah (8/5): Lovely break despite the rain! - Fully equipped kitchen with literally EVERYTHING you need
Hosts beyond helpful and informative on the lead up to our holiday. Let us know via WhatsApp when cottage was ready (early may I add)
Nice hot shower/bath
Comfy beds
Nice and warm cottage with adjustable heating
Helpful stair gate and highchair
Clean No welcome pack explaining anything - ie where bin bags go, where dogs can do their business, where the easy route to town is (with pram)
No anti bac spray? - not a major issue as we picked one up from co-op (but would of expected one to be there as we have a baby and like to keep things clean)
Loading and unloading quite hard when there was no parking on the road!
The above is me being quite picky & brutally honest - great cottage and fab location!
- Jasmine (9/5): Fab place to stay in Brixham - Lovely property. Clean, cosy and well equipped with everything you could need/think of. Location was excellent and superb value for money. Only downside is no designated parking spot.
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wright (8/5): Would recommend this property as beautifully appointed and its location. Also the owner was very helpful and quick to re - We loved the cleanliness, style and thoughtfulness of this property. We also loved that it was 2 mins walk to the marina. The parking situation - managed to park on nearby street but very narrow streets and not easy. Aware it is a price you pay to be close to the front in brixham.
- Sarah (10/5): We had a fantastic time away, very cozy cottage with a lovely homely feel. - Great communication
Fantastic location
Very clean and homely
Had all kitchen accessories needed
Warm! Maybe outdoor lighting, or maybe I didn’t see any!
- Lauer (10/5): Exceptional - The house had everything you could think of fantastic location beautifully decorated the attention to detail is second to none. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
It does have a lot of steps up to the property and doesn't have parking but we had no issues finding somewhere to park.
- Andrea (7/5): Good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is very comfortable and homely.
The location is perfect for a visit to Brixham whatever you intend to do with your time there. It takes just a minute from the front door to get to the harbour and the heart of the town. We easily found parking available, close by, for two cars.
The accommodation is very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The owners have really thought about making ones stay as stress-free as possible.
- Nick (10/5): Perfect stay in perfect location. A fantastic getaway, which we'll be sure to return. Thank you. - Perfect Location with fantastic variety of local fish right on your door. Cosy cottage which made you feel at home from the minute you walk through the door.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adrian (10/5): We had an excellent stay at Family Tides Cottage and will definitely stay again when visiting Brixham - lovely cottage in a superb location for the local shops and bars like home from home with everything you would possibly need
- Mark (10/5): We were a group of two couples and found this to be the perfect location. A lovely cottage which had all modern amenitie - The cottage was spotless, very well equipped and a great location.
- Janette (9/5): A lovely base to stay. - Tastefully decorated. Clean, new and quality facilities. Very cozy and welcoming. Absolutely loved the terrace! Neighbours were all very friendly. Great distance to the town. Really quiet spot. Everything easy to work. Lovely smelling plug ins which lingered throughout the stay. Only one bathroom and it was on the ground floor, although there was a toilet and washbasin on the first floor there was no toilet on the top floor and the steps were very steep and narrow specifically to the top floor; not good in the night. Although it is clear there is no parking spaces, parking was very difficult. Steps from the cottage to the town were longer than we thought.
- Adina (10/5): A charming retreat with a personal touch - Lovely cottage, full of charm and character, spotless clean and cosy. We had a wonderful stay, a true home away from home experience. You can definitely feel the love and dedication Claire and Mark have poured into every tiny detail. The location was very convenient, and we loved our meals on the terrace, overlooking the roofs and the town. Overall, a charming spot for a relaxing getaway. We'd definitely consider staying here again! Everything was wonderful.
- Sara (10/5): The perfect seaside idyll 💕 - Every detail has been thought of to make your holiday perfect Leaving!
- Nicholas (10/5): We had a perfect stay at Family Tides. The house is beautiful and in a perfect location. Thank you. - We loved everything. The house looks nicer in real life than in the pictures (even though the pictures are nice!)
The house has everything you need for a family holiday. The location was perfect. We particularly enjoyed eating on the terrace. Couldn't have been better. Everything was perfect.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (8/5): Very good -
