- Zaynah (10/5): - It is only half an hour away from Kyoto via train so a perfect location to add in a Ryokan if you are traveling to or from Kyoto. We got the private onsen and it was perfect. Very private and peaceful. We had breakfast and dinner included and it was amazing. I am pregnant and reached out to the ryokan in advance about my specific dietary restrictions (like no raw beef, eggs, seafood) and they were very accommodating. We stayed for one night and i think that is enough time spent in an onsen.

L’attention du personnel était remarquable et l’ambiance, entièrement tournée vers la détente, a rendu notre séjour très agréable. Nous avions vu sur les photos Booking qu’il y avait une piscine extérieure, mais celle-ci n’est malheureusement plus en service (il faudrait enlever les photos). Un petit plus qui aurait été vraiment appréciable aurait été de nous montrer comment porter correctement la tenue traditionnelle. Cela aurait rendu l’expérience encore plus immersive.

- Lui (9/5): Healing onsen ryokan stay - It was a lovely experience. They had a shuttle service to transport us from Kameoka station to the hotel. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with tea and a snack. The room was clean and spacious for 3 people. We had a private onsen with a gorgeous view, which made it even more relaxing. The shared onsen spaces were natural and bustling with hot mineral water. They had luxurious shampoo and conditioning products as well. The dinner was one of the best I had in Kyoto. I couldn’t understand the air purifier or air conditioner without using ChatGPT to help me translate.

- Noor B. (10/5): Lovely stay - Nice spacious clean room, with a beautiful private onsen. The staff were so nice and helpful and spoke English well or used the translation devices. The food was incredible, some of the best meals I had in Japan, and they accomodated it our no pork no alcohol request. They offer a free shuttle to and from the hotel (30min from Kameoka station). Just keep in mind there isn't much around the hote within walking distance. We were not used to the traditional floor beds as they were hard, next time we would choose western-style beds. Also the only blind in the room is almost sheer and all the windows are covered with traditional shoji (paper-lattice screens) so in the morning there is a lot of light comes in, if you are used to sleeping in dark rooms with blackouts you will struggle, so pack an eye mask to help with that.

Not much to see, but overall nice. Food was delicious, my 1st time ever trying something like that. The sets are really big, we couldn't properly finish either dinner, or breakfast. A bit pricy, but feels like a pretty luxury place, so the price is justified, I guess. Also the place is a little far away from the activities, so it's better to stay there if you are travelling through this area.

- Katherine Elizabeth (10/5): Stunning Ryokan in the Kyoto Hills - Absolutely stunning ryokan experience. Location was secret but accessible. Facilities/room was amazing. We had a private bath and it was just so peaceful. We also booked a private onsen time because I have tattoos and the private onsen was breathtaking. The kaseki dinner and breakfast were amazing (though a little intimidating, so maybe know a bit about traditional Japanese food before trying - we were beginners and felt like were were out of our depth). Honestly the only thing I would want to do before going back is know more Japanese and understand kaseki better since our own ignorance was the only thing that effected our stress while there!

- Anel (10/5): Wonderful ryokan with kind staff and onsen - We stayed in a ryokan near Kyoto, and the experience was outstanding. The staff went above and beyond — they even offered to pick us up from Kamioka Station, which we didn’t expect at all. It was such a pleasant surprise. The service throughout our stay was incredible: extremely polite, warm, and genuinely kind. Honestly, the staff deserves 15 out of 10. Our room had a private onsen, and it was amazing. The room itself was in a traditional Japanese style and felt very cozy. The outdoor onsen was especially beautiful — such a unique and relaxing experience. Breakfast was both interesting and delicious. I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone looking for a special stay near Kyoto.

- HYUNJI (8/5): - 클라스가 있음 확실히 숙소 넓고 좋고, 접객 클라스 좋고(다만 일본 특유의 일본어 할 줄 아는 관광객에 대한 은근 깔아봄은 다소 존재, but 거슬릴 정도 아님), 요리도 정말 맛있다. 대욕장도 좋고 딸린 노천탕도 좋았다. 와이파이가 약간 문제있었는데 동접제한이 있는것 같았다. 딱히 없는듯..? 비싸긴했는데 이 시기에 다 이랬음. 그리고 송영버스 커뮤니케이션 관련해서 좀 꼬였는데 어쨌든 와주셔서 정말 편하게 갔음.

- Yiran (10/5): My husband and I both agree that we will come back to visit again. - Service, environment and food are outstanding! The scenery and indoor Japanese-styled decorations are so beautiful . Supposed to be a stop between our tours in Kyoto and Osaka. However, this 2-night stay became our favorite part. None
- Sarah (10/5): - Un vrai havre de paix ! J’ai adoré mon séjour au Ryokan Sumiya Kihoan. Le onsen privé dans la chambre était incroyable, tout comme le grand onsen de l’hôtel. J’ai beaucoup apprécié les petites attentions et la gentillesse du personnel, toujours adorable et très accueillant. L’ambiance est apaisante, parfaite pour se détendre. Nous avons dormi dans les lits typiquement japonais, et pris un petit déjeuner traditionnel qu'il ont adapté a notre régime alimentaire, une belle expérience, nous avons pu profiter de cela dans des tenues traditionnelles fournies pour se relaxer, ce qui rend le séjour encore plus authentique.

- Stephen (7/5): Modern but without the charm of a more traditional ryokan - Nice welcome. Appreciated the private room for dinner. I specifically asked and wrote twice requesting the room with the view depicted on the booking.com web site. We did not get it. Even after mentioning the discrepancy, no apology was provided.

Vi chiamano il giorno prima per decidere a che ora passarvi a prendere alla stazione di Kameoka con la navetta, molto organizzato Nella nostra stanza con l onsen privato potevamo fare la doccia unicamente all esterno e faceva freddino.. colazione forse un po scarsa rispetto alla cena. Prezzo un po altino ma la struttura era molto bella quindi accettabile

- Ildar (10/5): - The staff were wonderful - we had to reorganize our check-in time several times, and they were really nice and helpful. They even helped us send our luggage straight to Tokyo and were very attentive about a gluten allergy one of us has. The food was a solid 10 out of 10. We had an outstanding dinner and a traditional Japanese breakfast with all the small, beautifully presented dishes.
