Guest Reviews
- Angela (7/5): Small but would suit those out and about all day - Easy to find
Clean and tidy, near to river to take a walk and feed ducks. Convenience of location for zoo and city and parking nearby
Large fridge and freezer No blinds so bring a sleep mask, very busy road so ear plugs. No iron or scissors, no toaster or microwave. Only one tea towel
Furniture looked nice but not very comfortable to sit on
Expensive for the size of property compared to others we have stayed in
- Brenda (8/5): Very good - Arrived on a very hot day, fan in house which was greatly needed. Very close to park so my child ended up playing football with other kids which was great.
- Lucy (8/5): Very good - The house was very well kept and perfect for our weekend in Chester. We were not given the number of the house so tried to get the keys from the house next door until a neighbour shouted out the window! A full address would have made it much easier.
Only 1 pillow per person, it would have been nice to have 2 each.
- Becky (9/5): Beautiful - Sandy View was a lovely place, spacious house in a great location.
Instructions on how to get in and the hidden cutlery draw was extremely helpful.
The host was extremely helpful
We loved our stay
- Paula (5/5): Passable - Looks a little run down from the outside, my heart sank when I arrived as I had booked for my self husband and friends 50th, we opened the door and was a lot nicer inside thank god. The house was a little grubby, and the drinks trolley was thick with dust at the bottom when we arrived I cleaned before anyone seen it . There was 4 of us but only 3 folks 3 teaspoons .no toaster. Front bed bedroom lovely bed comfortable. Back bedroom not so lovely with boiler and pipes on show but bed was very comfortable. And the lack of somewhere to hang your clothes, no hooks on doors or clothing rails anywhere, so all our stuff is hung on hangers on the bedroom door so couldn't close it. The bathroom was lovely, great shower and nice big roll top bath. Just a few things there to improve on but on the whole we had a great weekend in chester 🙌
- Gerald (9/5): Good stay close to the river, a bit out of town - Stylish and well equipped. Some road noise - but windows were open due to heat.
- Sara (8/5): Lovely little base to explore the area - The host communicated really well. It was clean & tidy. The kitchen provisions were very clean. The beds were fairly comfortable. We were given all the provisions for tea and coffee. The shower head gives an absolutely lovely shower, with an easy to control temperature knob. The heating needs to be manually switched on & off, so we had a very hot first night. The pillows on the bed are very, very thin. Some of the steps into the property are really big. There's not much privacy in the front bedroom as the bed is the same height as the window.
- Selenia (8/5): Very good -
- Owen (7/5): Sandy Lane nice location - Ideal location with a small walk into the City. Not far from the riverside either. Bedrooms no hangiang space and draws all full of spare bedding for both bedrooms. Second bedroom was listed as a double but smallest double bed as ever. The boiler was in this bedroon and open and double bed next to it. Serious risk to Health and Safety pipes not lagged. More over boiler not boxed in either. There was NO Monoxide detector in the room either and to the that not even in the property. There was no toaster, mircowave, there was four of us and there was sufficient cultery either, 3 eating knifes, 2 forks, 2 desserts spoons, springs to mind.
- Izzy (6/5): Unfortunately, would not return. - On entering the property there was a strong smell of damp. We explored the whole property and overall it seemed quite clean, there were a few areas that were dusty/cobwebs but nothing too bad. They had put the heating on ready for us which was very kind so it was nice and warm. The host had told us to help ourselves to anything in the fridge, we decided not to take them up on this offer as the milk provided was 2 days out of date, there was a used carton of apple juice and the spreadable butter went out of date last month. We went out for food on the evening so did not use any facilities in the kitchen, we did however need a toaster and a microwave in the morning but from what we could see those were not provided in the property. As a family we found the beds comfortable. We did struggle a bit with parking, before booking it was made out that there was an allocated space for the property, it just wasn’t right outside the house. Turns out there is no allocated space for the property, we were informed we can either pay for parking in the closest car park or we could park on the side of the road further up if there was any space.
- Louise (9/5): Superb - Lovely house that we used for 2 nights as a base for exploring Chester. Good location for everything. Parking was fine on the street. House was lovely and clean and had everything that we needed. Would stay again The only thing was the boiler in the back bedroom which was close to the bed and felt uncomfortable being in such close proximity especially if people ran water overnight and the boiler started it was noisy.
- Tricia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house, clean and tidy .
perfect location with everything we wanted within a short walking distance.
- Rhianne (8/5): Cute little house - Beautiful property and very nicely decorated. The host was super friendly and on hand for any questions. We had an enjoyable stay overall and despite a few niggles, we would stay again. The following is intended as constructive criticism to help improve the property. None of the following would deter us from staying again and is simply advice, where applicable (some things being beyond the properties control):
Parking tricky as unable to park on the road - used nearby recommended car park which is now limited to just 4 hours and received a ÂŁ50 fine. Upstairs landing light didn't work. Mat in front of the fireplace not gripped down, so we slipped on it a few times before we had to move it out of the way for the duration of our stay. Couldn't get the shower attachment to work, only the rainfall element, which was fine but not great if you don't want to get your hair wet! No working lock on the bathroom door?! No mirror above the bathroom sink. The kitchen is relatively well equipped, but the sink did not drain well, and there was an awful eggy smell coming from underneath. An instruction booklet on the property would have been tremendously useful, and this was the first time I've stayed anywhere that didn't have one. There's a hole in the master bedroom wall under the window that let a draft in all weekend. Nowhere to hang clothing at all throughout the property. A wardrobe or a clothes rail would have been helpful. Please consider hiding away the boiler in a cupboard/unit as it makes for a bit of an eyesore! The garden gate is broken, so security access is a bit of an issue.
- Snape (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolette (1/5): we did not stay and received a refund - but no compensation for having to book into a hotel at 10pm at night unexpectedl - I am afraid we ended up not being able to stay at Sandy View as the boiler was broken. the boiler is in full
view in the second bedroom, not in a cupboard - so wouldn’t have liked my child to sleep
in that room.
- Victoria (10/5): Amazing value for money, gorgeous property. Ideal for a nice getaway in Chester - The property was amazing and Mika sent a very informative and lovely message which guided us to the property and also how to get in.
The property itself is very classy, extremely good taste in décor also. Great value for money! The shower was a little odd (bathroom was amazing) and I struggled to turn the shower fully off as it seemed to have a drip (probably the user)
- Sara (8/5): A beautiful property in a lovely location. - Beautiful location.
Very stylish property.
Ideal for Chester Zoo No microwave or toaster which was annoying.
- Chris (9/5): Lovely Xmas break - Lovely property, ideally located will definitely look to stay again when we visit chester.
- Natasha (10/5): A beautiful home - The property is absolutely stunning and really homely. Lots of space and the features are amazing! Nothing!
- Andy (10/5): Exceptional - The location was excellent with it only being a 15 min walk to the centre Nothing
- Sophie (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (9/5): Great stay in a clean and comfortable house - Lovely house very clean and comfortable in a quiet location Noisy boiler in the bedroom
- Donna (10/5): Stunning house - we stayed at Sandy view in November 24. The house is absolutely stunning, right by the River Dee and a 15 minute walk into Chester.
The owner was very helpful
I would highly recommend a stay here.
- Aimee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Veronica (8/5): Perfect place, perfect host, would stay again. - The property was very clean, comfortable, easy to find parking, host was excellent, communication was great. Facilities were good, even provided some milk which was a real bonus. Couldn’t find any cutlery
