-coffee/tea/milk/sugar provided I want to highlight quite a few negative points from my 1st wedding anniversary weekend stay at Dilham Hall Retreats (“luxury glamping”).
We stayed in the Kingfisher Pod on the Tonnage Bridge site and what it looked like was one of the older versions (there were 5 new pods and 5 older pods) the first thing we noticed was the poor upkeep on treating the wood on the pod/hot tub and decking - green and slimy.
Secondly, after travelling and noticing we had no signal, we wanted to connect to the Wi-Fi and watch the smart TV which also needed Wi-Fi connection - to find out the Wi-Fi didn’t connect to any device we had, so we were unable to use our phones or watch TV (which is great if you’re not planning on using technology, but if you are wanting to use your tech, you’ll be disappointed, especially as it states on the website/booking.com that ‘Wi-Fi is available in all areas and is free of charge.’).
Now we come onto the hot tub, which is meant to be the highlight of your luxurious stay, right?! No, as I stated above, the wood hadn’t been treated so it was all green and slimy, paint had come away,it was dirty (my husband had to clean it all, flush it out as the heat exchanger pipe was blocked with muck which would of made it dirty and taken longer to heat up.) We were unable to fit our wine glasses in the wine glass holder on the hot tub as it’s advertised on the websites/booking.coms pictures.
We were provided with 1 bag of wood which was only enough for the first evening, we had to contact the owner to request more wood (kindly he gave this to us free of charge as they are usually £6 a bag, which seems unfair after spending so much on our stay).
We struggled opening and shutting the hot tubs fire door when lighting and adding wood, it got very hot and the latch didn’t catch properly - this made it extremely difficult when it was raining/windy.
- Kate (10/5): Brilliant - Lush location. Super comfy bed! Nothing
- Phoebe (10/5): Exceptional - The property was a perfect size for me and my friend and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was so peaceful and the hot tub was very easy to set up as there were clear instructions. Will definitely be staying here again 😊

- Charlotte (10/5): Excellent quiet outdoor family retreat - Wonderful stay at the Dilham Hall Retreats. The pod was immaculately clean and well kept. There was great private outdoor space for our toddler to run about and a peaceful environment for us to enjoy meals outside. The hot tub and bbq were a bonus too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming again. Nothing
- Abigail (9/5): Lovely place to stay for a relaxing weekend away! - We were a group of 4 friends, and despite being warned that the family pod might be a little cosy for us - it was perfect! The place was spotless, the kitchen very well-equipped and although there are pods either side, it felt really private. Walking distance (under 5 minutes) to pick up canoe/kayak and really, really picturesque. The bbq and hot tub were used extensively! Overall, cannot recommend highly enough - we would return! The only minor issue was that the wifi was a little patchy - but that didn't impede on our stay at all.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alastair (10/5): Two day retreet - The hot tub was great. Would be even better if it was filled on arrival.
