Guest Reviews
- Rhonda (9/5): - Central city location was excellent. Overall it was clean and comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms. We think it was good value for money. 2 flights of stairs were a blessing in disguise as they got some of us a little fitter for the bushwalking. We were disappointed with difficulty accessing carpark at the beginning - ended up asking the receptionist to contact carpark company to register our number plate as the fob did not work.
- Kylie (8/5): - Location is fine, I was extremely nervous after booking and then reading reviews of the place. I was concerned about the access (metal stairs past garbage bins at the back of cafes) with an elderly mother and wonky legged partner but we were fine. Yes, the access isn't ideal but the rental was clean, comfortable beds, spacious rooms and quiet for its location. The shower had stains but no mould. We went to the local restaurants so didn't need to use the cooking facilities etc.
Would I book this place again.... Yes. The location is walking distance to everything we needed and wanted to see. "Heritage Penthouse" this might be technically correct but if I book a Penthouse apartment I expect luxury with views etc.
I would also be more clear in your ad regarding the stairs and access.
- Veronica (4/5): Below Expectations - Safety and Maintenance Concerns - The location is very convenient. The apartment has several issues that future guests should be aware of:
1) Challenging access. The property requires climbing approximately four steep flights of stairs to enter and exit, including when carrying luggage. This makes it unsuitable for older guests, anyone with mobility concerns, and families with small children.
2) Dated and worn furniture. Several pieces, including two chairs, appear old and in poor condition, giving the impression of second‑hand items.
3) Cleanliness below expectations. The apartment was dusty, the bath was stained, and the laundry area contained a dirty mop. Overall cleanliness did not meet the expected standard.
4) General upkeep needed. Some furniture requires upgrading, and the indoor plants are withering, contributing to a tired appearance.
5) Entry Parking inconvenience. The parking remote did not function properly, requiring you to exit the car and press the remote directly onto the activator each time. Getting in and out the car was hugely inconvenient.
6) Incomplete waste facilities. Not all bins were provided, and there was no recycling bin available.
7) Only one set of keys provided. For multiple guests or families, at least two sets of keys would be far more practical.
8) Safety concern with door locks. Both doors only lock from the outside. When inside the apartment, a small child could easily open the door and access the steep staircase, which is a significant safety risk.
9) Ensuite bathroom door requires maintenance. This door does not close properly.
- Colin (7/5): - The apartment was in a good location right in the city. It has a car park out the back door.all rooms were of a good size. It could do with an up grade in some areas due to being well used.
- Luisa (7/5): - Location and space. One bedroom does not have any outdoor window. Lamps and wi-fi were not working and host did not come to fix them.
- Piesse (7/5): -
- ArcadeGags (9/5): We enjoyed our stay, glad we picked it. - Location was great, right in the city centre. Easy to walk around Hobart.
The apartment was big & spacious with all the necessary comforts of home.
Comfortable & relaxing with a retro decor. Quite a few stairs to climb.
- Col (7/5): Property location is excellent. Could do with some minor repairs but very good for the price. - Great bakery next door Blocked drain in bath room.
Drain needs repair above rear window.
- Wendy (1/5): Don't stay here. - The location of this apartment was well situated within the Hobart city centre. When we arrived, there was no electricity in the whole apartment. The refrigerator had a smell and the ice in the freezer had melted. Rang the mobile number and there was no answer, left SMS and no answer. I rang another mobile number which was located in the unit but they don't manage this property anymore. After much delay, we found the associated switchboard in the restaurant downstairs. The restaurant workers were hostile and rude to us. I would hate to think what would have happened if we checked in after the restaurant closed. The apartment needs a good clean, plastic plants are dusty and real plants needs some TLC. There was hair in the shower. Wouldn't stay here again.
- Jennifer (9/5): Had a great couple of days and the accommodation was very comfortable and had everything we needed. - Location was great. Right in the middle of the city with easy walk to harbour and restaurants. Easy location to drive out of the city to visit other locations. Bakery right next door. We couldn't use the sunroom as it had a musty wet smell. The windows appear to leak as we discovered when it rained.
- Julie (8/5): Good value for money in the centre of Hobart - Good location, easy to walk everywhere. Convenient parking
- Andrea (6/5): Enjoyed the location and size of the flat. Well equipped but the oven did not work and the wifi was also not available. - Very spacious, excellent location. No working wifi, oven broken and no tea towels. Lots of stairs which was ok for us and we were told about this, but some might struggle.
- Alexis (7/5): - Location Entrance from back....moving staircase. No wifi the whole time we were there and wasn't dealt with before we left. No parking on-site - street or paid only.
- Lynette (4/5): Good location. Disappointed management were unable to rectify internet connection issue during our 7 day stay - Great location Unable to connect to wifi at any time during 7 day stay. Management unable to resolve despite multiple messages. Heat pump has annoying whine (full of dust and filters that should be there are not in place so dust going directly into system - it will choke and die) en-suite door hinges loose and door hard to close, pink scum in both showers and base of shower in en-suite feels soft underfoot like it is going to collapse. Needs maintenance and decent clean.
- Michal (8/5): Very good - The location was great The bathrooms could be cleaner
- Linda (7/5): Great location, v roomy apartment, comfortable - Great location Bathrooms were a bit dirty
- Ercan (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - Very convenient location in central Hobart. Handy to walk to lots of attractions, food and shops. Spacious apartment which was comfy for 2 couples. We enjoyed our stay. Lots of steep steps. 2 entrances and both quite difficult with large suitcases. Carpark was hard to access. Appeared to be a problem with carpark system not the unit owners.
- Maureen (7/5): Good - Location Not as clean as expected ; supposed to have 1-2 days of basic supplies but no tea, milk, available.
The motion light to front door from apartment did not work.
There was an elevator available but no access as no cad with keys. On website no mention that elevates not available and we had an 80 yr old who would have benefited from elevator or more light on stairs.
Also hand rail would be useful on indoor 3 steps to bedrooms. Access to parking, even though we followed instructions sent 24 hrs prior to arrival were not clear and had it not been for a neighbour watching us struggle to access parking lot we would not have accessed same. Eventually after he added us to his access we were able the following morning to get access through property owners instructions
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Spacious apt. Clear instructions on how to access.
- Dianne (7/5): Overall, it was most pleasant, but could improve - IT WAS IN A GOOD POSITION IN THE CENTRE OF HOBART AND IT WAS ROOMY AND WELL EQUIPPED.
The manager Bryan was very helpful. I doubt the owner has any interest in assisting those who rent the property. * The noise from the street in one of the front bedrooms was excessive
* Access to the adjoining car park which was part of the deal was very badly executed by the owner. We had to spend money to park in a nearby high rise car park one night and then we had to find parking on the street. It was all quite stressful.
* The stairs to the apartment would struggle to meet OH&S requirements
* One day when we left the apartment the door wouldn’t close because the striker plate had come adrift. We had to fix it ourselves because we knew that we wouldn’t be able to get anyone from management to show up and do the job. We lost time out of our day to do this. Lucky it wasn’t the day we had a deadline to catch a plane.
- Stafford (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (3/5): It was such a struggle. - It had beds, bathrooms and a kitchen. Poor Hygiene. The bathrooms were so dirty, covered with all different types of mould, human waste and mysterious stain. The floor, wether carpet, timber or tile was not vacuumed, the surfaces and the drawers were not wiped, nothing in the kitchen was washed and the sink smelled like public toilet. I'm not going to complain about the wobbly stairs and out-of-order doors and blinds, I'm only asking for a minimal effort in cleaning, and I don't see any evidence of it. The hair on the towels, the food scraps in the fridge, the residue on the cutleries, the bowls, the cups...It was such an unpleasant stay, it was the worst experience I'd ever imagine for an accomodation at this price.
