Guest Reviews
- Ben (10/5): - The flat was great - very big! With great big garden with bbq in the middle of olive groves with great views! If you like being in the wilderness and somewhere that has real Italian charm… this place is amazing! Plus the owners a couple with 2 daughters and a son were absolutely amazing and were so generous to us! They own the restaurant in the local village! We hope to be back, thanks for your hospitality!!
- Michael (10/5): We had a great stay, the place is really value for money - Raffaella and Mauricio are lovely! - From Google maps we didn't have a clear picture how the surroundings of the house would look like, and we were pleasantly surprised. It felt like a little paradise, with large butterflies flying around us and great views over hills and forests. The last stretch of the road there is not paved and very bumpy but even that I liked, just to get away from it all! The apartment itself was spotless and very well equipped, the garden kept nicely - swings for the kids and a small pool to cool down. The owners were super responsive and nice, really very pleasant and caring. They also own the only restaurant in Sticciano, which offers fabulous views and sunsets - I loved taking the kids there for a late ice cream and a glass of house wine (excellent) just sitting on the bench in front of the restaurant with the back against the warm wall. (If you want to get a sense of the location of the house I would recommend to walk to the other side of Sticciano from where you can just about see it in the middle of just woods.)
We didn't mind this so much, but you need to be aware that you'll be dependent on a car virtually for everything. There is no shop in Sticciano, which could be reached by foot, and in terms of activities, you'll need an hour or so to the beaches - best for us were Marina di Albarese and Cala Violina (bit further down the coast; booking for parking required). The best day trip we had was to Terme di Saturnia - the free bit was nice to see, but the paying part was just SO relaxing. Great vine along the way in Scansano. Also look out for the various festivities in all those old towns and villages. It's not easy to think of something less positive about our stay. The only thing that I noticed after having driven around a bit is a fact that the landscape and vegetation seems to change quite quickly there and the nature around us there seemed more harsh perhaps and less inviting for walks etc - and yes, a nearby shop that we could have reached by foot.
- Hans (10/5): A lovely house with a wonderful view! - The veranda, the surroundings, the pool and -offcourse- view!
Last but not least, the hospitality of Raffaela and Maurizio. The path to it is a little challenge, but then you also arrive at a beautiful location!
