If I had to be fussy, I would say the breakfast was a little underwhelming. Limited choices with over cooked scrambled eggs and under cooked poached eggs.

• John (9/5): - A smart and well-situated hotel, with great room amenities and a lovely view over the Parliament gardens. We stayed in a studio room - a lovely light-filled room overlooking the tree-tops across to the city. The staff were low-key and responsive. A quick stroll to Flinders Lane and the CBD or in the other direction to Brunswick St. We will certainly stay here again.

Loved the foyer bar/restaurant, very dramatic. Gorgeous pool and spa. We booked a double queen room for 3 people and there was only 2 of everything- from glasses to teabags to bathrobes. And room was quite small.

Love the swimming pool and gym, the foyer bar (very elegant space) and the microwave standard in every room. The room sizes vary within a room type. Our king room this time was a bit smaller than others we have had and with a more restricted view.

The swimming pool / spa was exceptional / clean. The staff were super friendly. Parking was a bit tricky but shouldn't be a big deal.

Wait staff need to be more attentive. 4/5 - Excellent facilities and service at check-in & out Staff in the lobby restaurant, both at dinner and for breakfast, were not attentive or welcoming. They did not explain the dinner menu or mention the $45 steak special, this was very tasty by the way. The next morning, I thought there was breakfast in the lobby, but I was only offered coffee. A big opportunity for upsell/cross-sell was missed by the staff

• Gail (3/5): Don't stay here - Location was great. Staff friendliness and proffessionalism was very goid. The shower and toilet spaces, with their inward opening doors are an OSH risk. If someone collapsed inside, they could not be helped. The areas are far too small. I was in a standard room and expected to be given a satisfactory change but the manager said all bathrooms are the same size, except the apartments. Meals were poor and the member discount did not get applied on our happy hour drinks. I felt thoroughly ripped off with the so called 5 star and expensive accommodation.

Ridiculous card deposit of $150 per room (x 2 rooms) which has been held for 10 days now. When you travel for business and hotels do this it becomes prohibitive with multiple stays. Apparently it is the fault of my bank… which , incidentally, was not as slow to be debited in check in????

Not good quality or what I would expect from hotel in this price range. Housekeeping. Very late and slow to clean rooms even when light on requesting clean; came back in evening to unmade up room even when requested clean with reception on two occasions. No room in mini bar to put your own things in. When staying long term this would be good.

Best part was the special 4 dishes they made for every breakfast to meet our vegan and jain dietary requirements. In so many years of travelling have never come across someone go out of their way and make so many extra dishes in a buffet breakfast for us. Special mention to chef jay for the dishes and reception team (mr abdul and one more male reception team member) to communicate our dietary requirements.

Wonderful staff, so friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast had almost no vegan options, next time I’ll get the room service breakfast instead. The rug in the sitting area of the room had quite a lot of stains.

• Vaněk (1/5): Absolutely not worth the money - Location is nice, I've chosen this hotel because of it. The pool is okay, when nobody is there, I've had a short swim there, but then some family came and there was not enough space for us anymore as the space is very narrow and claustrophobic. The attitude of the stuff is highly problematic. It feels like everything is an issue. I felt very unwelcomed. I arrived in the morning after very long sleepless flight and it was not possible to checkin early. I had to wait until 3pm which completely destroyed me. I have mentioned that I'd prefer higher floor, which I got after 6 hours of waiting, but the view was actually terrible, I could only see the office building next to the hotel and I've chosen the hotel specifically because of the view to Parliament Gardens. And this is not the end of the series of disappointments. The breakfast in the hotel is very modest and there is no vegetable or fruit in a first sight, then you realise that there is some in a fridge, which when you open the doors will fall on you, something you would maybe tolerate in 3 star hotel, but definitely not here. The pool area is claustrophobic as it's very thin and without any windows, but it does its job unless there are other people. And the spa was full of very long hair and it smelled horribly, probably wasn't cleaned in very long time. When more guests gather there they will be colliding and it's going to be very unpleasant. The checkout experience was of course also unpleasant, so this hotel would keep its consistency - I got call at 11 o'clock that I need to check out immediately the tone of voice in the phone was super arrogant. I was glad I'm leaving this place and would not recommend it to my worst enemy.

• KAREN (10/5): Stunning apartment overlooking Parliament Gardens - We stayed at the new Lanson Place for 4 nights at the end of our month tour of Australia, and it was one of our highlights of our trip! Our hotel room was actually a beautiful, large, modern apartment with a kitchen, a washer/dryer, huge luxurious bathroom, nice sitting and dining room, and sweeping views of Parliament Garden. We enjoyed breakfast in their upstairs lounge and drinks in the swanky restaurant next to the lobby. From the moment we arrived, Abdul warmly welcomed us and gave us some great info about Melbourne and its coffee culture, while Mark took good care of us in the restaurant bar. We will definitely recommend Lanson Place to our friends who want to visit Melbourne. Thank you for a memorable stay!
• Anna (10/5): Lovely property with exceptional staff. - The staff and Service were exceptional. Everything was so quick and easy. The property is nicely appointed. The lounge room in the two bedroom apartment could have slightly more comfy furniture for a family watching TV. A little sparse.

A beautifully fitted out hotel room with a stunning ceiling to floor view of the city (we were in room 702). All staff were super friendly, attentive and courteous. Received complimentary voucher for a free drink in the cosy bar downstairs. Will return! N/A

• Shannen (7/5): - Clean Location New Studio unit with kitchenette Noise from next room or common area. Pillow too soft, hurt my neck.
• Garratt (9/5): - Very modern facilities. The shower drain was blocked when we arrived. After accidentally flooding the bathroom, we called maintenance and they quickly fixed the issue. Pillows were those ones where they deflate to almost flat in the middle when you rest your head on them. Uncomfortable.
