• Sinziana Belu-Gyorgy (10/5): - It was a very nice accomodation in the heart of Istanbul, very close to Blue Mosque and Arasta Bazaar. It was a very authentic experience concerning a traditional turkish house. A large room comparative to other places I've been in the same area. A baldaquin bed, lots of turkish craft objects in the room that created an Ottoman athmosphere and beautiful bathroom with alabaster sink and table. The staff was very kind and helpful. I liked Svetlana and Toffee a lot. The breakfast was good. One of the radiators in the room was not working.

Le tramway à proximité permettait de se déplacer facilement dans toute la ville, les restaurants et les commerces faciles d'accès étaient très appréciables. L'ensemble du personnel de l'hôtel était discret, efficace et professionnel en particulier Efe qui a su répondre à chacunes de nos attentes. The kitchen lady is just amazing so loving and jolly my kids loved her. The man saif ullah who welcomed us is really good he helped us with every other need. Its clean peaceful and comfortable. • Lee (10/5): - I really enjoyed our stay at Villa Sphendone Suites. Our host, Seyfullah, was very friendly and helpful. There was traditional Turkish breakfast each day that was filling and light at the same time. Perfect way to start the day. I recommend this quaint boutique style hotel and would definitely stay there again. It's shady so close to do many things: The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Hippodrome, the Basilica Cisterna, walkable to the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar, the ferries, etc.

• John (8/5): Very good - I loved my room, it was very large and comfortable, and quiet at night. One of the pins holding the toilet seat to the to the base came loose. When I opened the curtain in the morning the curtain just kept sliding and came right off. I had spoken to both of the people who were working during the daytime about needing a taxi early in the morning. When I mentioned this to the woman who was serving breakfast, who didn't speak English, she mentioned that she didn't know anything about a taxi and that I was I told me to walk down the street and around the corner to the taxi stand.
• Dipan (6/5): - The hosts are really nice but the property needs to be improved. The floor was coming off in places. Some of the drawers were broken. There were no soaps or shampoo on the room when we arrived. We had to ask for them but we didn't get them on time for our first shower. After travelling for 24 hrs it want funto shower without soap or shampoo. The room was big though and it was in an excellent location. Also make sure you don't get stuck outside the hotel. The hosts don't respond if you ring the doorbell. So overall it was an ok experience.

• Carroll (10/5): Exceptional - Tatiana was amazing, so helpful to us. The room was huge and the bed super comfortable. Even my partner whose over 6ft fit comfortably. The location is perfect. Very much recommended though if you are a light sleeper be aware you can hear the call to prayer. The kitten on the premises is super adorable. We will stay here again on our next visit!

The rooms were exactly like in the photos. Very close to the Blue Mosque and Grand Bazar. Close to tram station and bus station. We enjoyed the breakfast very much. Again, it was like a family meal, not at a hotel. The host was very nice and answered all our questions, provided recommendations. Thank you very much for making our trip even more beautiful!

A plus, the owner had the cutest cat, Güneş, who welcomed us every morning While the position is very central (just 10 minutes from the Blue Mosque) and good for sightseeing, it is not where life is in the evenings (most restaurants close at 21:00)

The room is very spacious and clean and the staff was kind enough to make us vegetarian and vegan food . The photos of the view from the terrace is not from the property and is most probably from the nearby sphendone wall . Overall a wonderful stay is a very well situated place!

The location is very good and all the major attractions are within a walking distance of around 01 km. or probably even lesser. The rooms are big with antique furniture and are clean. Almost like they are in the pictures. Would recommend this Villa.
• Ashashash (4/5): Room and property not as described, had few bad situations with hygiene, noise, and electricity - Central location. Huge room. Big bathroom. Good internet in the room. Towels changed. Big comfy bed. Hot water in the shower. Friendly helpful owner and staff. Although they were nice and tried to be helpful, in some cases we found them a bit intrusive as on some mornings we just wanted to keep to ourselves. Like one morning I was a bit hangover, had a sore head, but the owner kept talking at me. The property, room description is highly misleading, it does not match the reality. Deluxe room that is on the ground level does not have the garden view, the window is facing a little but noisy street instead. This was a big disappointment for me as I wanted a good rest. Room does not have the balcony neither. The breakfast room is not outdoor, but it is in the reception type of area. There is no terrace as such. Room was dark, needed a light on at all times. Furniture old but nice but had a little practical use, no shelves to put your clothes on, wardrobe had no hangers. Bathroom had a constant sewage smell. Breakfast - ir was OK but not great. Cheap quality. Greasy omelet, covered in oil, cheap looking sausage that neither of us wanted to touch. Wish we had more local cheese and more fresh veg instead. No real coffee, instant coffee served in a pot. Had a shocking situation on our first day of our stay, staff brought in an old full size dirty filthy fridge into our room. Room started stinking immediately of something rotten, I've checked the fridge, it was disgusting, covered in mold, and rotting stuff inside, larva eggs etc... I've asked the owner to remove it immediately. Raw meat used to be stored inside it, it was removed, fridge never cleaned, owner did not check it and brought into our bedroom. They did appologised for it. We should have left immediately but I did not want the hassle and stress looking for another place so we stayed. Last night of our stay was also a mess, electricity went off in one of the other guest room, and they threw a tantrum at 1am, kept us awake while complaining loudly to the owner on the phone. Electricity was gone in our room in the morning too, we had to get up at 5.30am and gather our belongings in the darkness before going to the airport.
• Elizabeth (10/5): Quiet oasis in the midst of energetic Istanbul - The property is on a quiet street in the midst of much of the sightseeing, restaurants, and shopping. There is something interesting in every direction. When you enter the doors from the road, you enter a small oasis with greenery and a lovely peaceful environment. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and very attractive. We really enjoyed our breakfast each day. The owner takes pride in making his guests feel at home. We had the delight of spending a lot of time with him as we talked about Istanbul and Turkey as a whole. He is an invaluable source of information about Turkey, past and present. Thank you Deniz for helping us plan a wonderful itinerary when we return and get to see more of Turkey (only visited Istanbul this visit). Also thank you for your many kindnesses, assistance, and friendship.
• Charles (3/5): Overpriced for facilities not present bad pno views,coffee machine - Its location and size of room. Few of the facilities listed were there. No bathrobe, no city or garden views, spa bath did not work, thin old towels, had to ask for toilet paper. Bath leaked. Sink leaked and took ages to empty. Linen not changed during a 6 night stay. Knob of heater was missing. Towel wrack did not heat when turned on. Generally shabby for what was listed when we booked. Paid top dollar for very ordinary accomodation. No coffee machine just a kettle with a few instant coffee and tea bags. Not replaced when used.

Guests with physical limitations should note that there are stairs to the rooms and to the breakfast area.

He took such good care of us and was proud to show us a genuine welcome and tour of the area. We were introduced to so many Great local shops and restaurants because of his guidance. The value of this place was amazing. we stayed in the Sofia room. .Our stay was short but our memories will be forever. Would definitely recommend for anyone to make this their primary place to stay when visiting old Istanbul. Everything was perfect and beyond what we expected.

• Saloni (10/5): - We lucked out when we checked in this beautiful villa. The rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. The breakfast had a lot of variety. Deniz, the host was incredible. He went above and beyond with his hospitality - recommending all the must sees on the map to personally showing us around to the Princes Islands, evenings spent playing backgammon and learning all about Turkish culture. We were absolutely gutted that we didn't spend more time at the place. I would go back to Istanbul just to spend time with Deniz, the host.

• Hussain (10/5): Great Location and a lovely host - We chose this place due to location for old town which is excellent. It is walking distance from all the major attractions in old istanbul and we did not need to use a taxi once. It is a traditional house converted into a hotel and so it is comfortable, quiet and clean. Deniz the owner was a pleasure to meet. He is very helpful, polite and full of knowedge with regards attractions and restaraunts etc. Breakfast is basic but everything you need to get your day started. The AC kept the room cool which was bery useful in mid August. The rooms are traditional and clean as opposed to modern and lush but they are large and very accomodating. If wtaying in istanbul for a few days and need a good location for the old town I would definitely recommend a stay here.

• g (10/5): Great stay - As soon as i arrived Dennis the manager welcomed me in a friendly manner , upgraded my room and advised me about istanbul . The rooms are decorated in a "shabby chic" style with interesting antique pieces . Room was lovely clean and quiet with a lovely comfortable 4 poster bed . Miss Tanya the Breakfast lady was very friendly and helpful . I liked it so much i stayed an extra night ! Thank you Dennis and Miss Tanya !

Schimmel gab es im Badezimmer und der Safe war defekt ( in beiden Zimmern). Frühstück wurde im Büro serviert , während der Chef lautstark telefonierte. Er meinte das würde den Gäste so gefallen, weil es einer familiären Atmosphäre entspräche. Es gab kein separaten Frühstücksraum! Nachdem wir uns mehrmals beschwert haben, konnten wir in ein größeres Zimmer umziehen, aber erst nach der zweiten Nacht. Personal war freundlich. Das zweite Zimmer gut und so wie wir das bei der Buchung erwartet haben.

The breakfast was good and the staff super friendly (not much English but it was not problem at all). The only inconvenient we had was during the check-in, there was nobody at the property. The staff of the hotel in front opened the door and room for us, but it was frightening at the beginning until we started asking around and were helped. I need to clarify that we arrived late (fly delayed), by 11pm and we didn't notify the hotel about that. I highly recommend this great hotel, we will definitely go back if we return to Istanbul.
• Ameel (2/5): cheating people - In fact, I booked in this place because of the good comments that I read also because of the beautiful pictures of the room in the site, but when we reached the place at noon they took us to another building which as they said belongs to the same hotel but we sow that this is another hotel with another titel and lowest value and they let us wait in the reception for more than one hour because they have not any idea of our reservation. We realized that they cheat us, but we couldnot do any thing because I paied the money when I booked and there is no way to returne the mony back then we stayed for 3 days then we changed the hotel to another one close to it with better price and better services.

Good breakfast includes a freshly made cheese omelette if desired. Just a few hundred meters from the Blue Mosque, dozens of restaurants and shops. Recommended.

• Frank (6/5): Lite koselig hotell - 5 dager på dette hotellet. De første 3 dagene var vi alene på hotellet. Først av alt: Balkonger! Det finnes ikke på hotellet selv om det står dette i beskrivelsen. Det var en liten nedtur, da det var derfor vi valgte hotellet. Da vi kom fikk vi rom i 1. etasje. Vi ligger å ligge med åpent vindu (ref: balkong!), så vi spurte om å få i andre etasje istedet. Betjening fikset dette greit. Begge rom var romslige og grei standard på. Dog noe smakløs design. Betjeningen er førsteklasses og veldig hjelpsomme. Dessverre er betjening dårlig i engelsk. Grei frokost, men så heldig å få den servert rett utenfor hotellrommet på egen platå. Alt i alt; greit hotell til rimelig pris. Men burde ikke hatt 4 stjerner, mer 3 stjerners. Likevel verdt prisen.
• YNA (6/5): Kleine Villa in der Altstadt - Das Hotel liegt sehr nah an die Moscheen (Blaue und Sofia), Grand Basar usw., also alles zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmer sind sauber, aber schon in die Jahre gekommen (Bad riecht ziemlich stark). Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Es ist eher Familienbetrieb, alle nett und sprechen sehr gut Englisch.

• Tony (10/5): Clean, spacious, wonderful staff, superb breakfast - Having stayed in other guest houses in Istanbul, this guest house stood out in many ways. It did not feel like a hotel, but more of a home-stay. Upon arrival, the host took extra time to welcome us and gave us a list of things to see and places to eat. Our room was very spacious, clean, and elegantly decorated with antique pieces of furniture. The foam mattress bed was very comfortable and provides great sleep. The bathtub/jacuzzi was a bonus. It also includes a full-blown Turkish breakfast. The main host and the night host spoke both English and Russian. If we return to the historic section of Istanbul, this will be at the top of list of places to stay.
• Massimiliano (8/5): B&B in posizione strategica - La posizione di questo B&B è davvero eccellente: a cinque minuti a piedi dall'Ippodromo Romano fa si che importanti luoghi di Sultanhamet si possano visitare nel massimo comfort. Le stanze sono delle suites, molto grandi per lo standard di Istanbul. Al top la presenza di vasca idromassaggio. Personale molto gentile.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Small, cozy hotel near Sultanahmet Square. - We stayed in this hotel for 5 days during our first visit to Istanbul. The hotel staff was very helpful, they arranged transfers to and from the airport for us, a wonderful guided tour of the city (which included a visit to a neighborhood Turkish bath and watching a local football derby with the fans of Besiktas). Our room was a private suite on the street side furnished with many antique pieces of furniture. Great kingsize bed too.
