Guest Reviews
- Ryan (9/5): Lovely location and outlook. Warm (April), clean, tidy - and straightforward. - Lovely rural location and outlook. Clean and tidy. Nice big bed. Great and helpful communication. Lack of access to a kitchen sink - it's inconvenient and a bit unhygienic to use the bathroom vanity for washing dishes. Also, it would be helpful if the photos made it easier to identify which of the units is which.
- Kate (5/5): Passable - Quiet rural location. The bathroom sink didn't drain properly. Given that there were cooking facilities and this was the only sink to wash dishes in, it wasn't easy to clean up. The room was clean, but there were cobwebs in the bathroom. The kitchen area was small with very little bench space.. Overall, not worth the money it cost to stay there.
- Mia (7/5): Comfy Bed and Quite Stay - The location was amazing, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very good. The microwave was located much too high for me to use unless I climbed on a chair which I didn't do. Washing dishes in the newly renovated bathroom sink was something that was hard to do so we ate out.
- Ana (5/5): Great spot and suitable for brief stops only. Not really self catering. - Lovely spot and great views Not a kitchenette as such. No sink so camping style wash ups or washing in bathroom sink which wasn’t that great. And the lack of air con in the room was not great. Room was very hot at night.
- Siyuan (7/5): enjoyable - the location of the property is very nice. the size of the room is on the smaller side and it gets stuffy during the day.
- Lynette (7/5): A restful stay in picturesque surroundings. - It was quiet and peaceful as there were only a few studios. It had a great outlook of the mountains. The 11.00 am check out time meant we weren’t rushed. We were able to check in early and the host was quick to reply and gave very clear directions and instructions. A cloth to wipe down benches would have been handy. Also there were no tissues provided.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic setting with great views and close to walks.
- Helen (8/5): We loved our stay. Beautiful. - A beautiful rural setting. Just gorgeous. Helpful owners. We were the only guests. Because of isolation, breakfast food would’ve been nice.
- Chen529 (10/5): incredible view - Incredible mountain view especially on sunny day, very quiet and a good place to watch stars. We even captured the Aurora!
The host sent email several days ahead which is very helpful for us to plan for the stay and the self check in was very smooth.
Stove, roaster and kettle make it easy to cook. A bit hot in the day since there's only a small fan in the room and we have to open the window and door to ventilate which attracts the flies and moths into the room.Luckily they don't bite.
- Emmalyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- C. (9/5): Superb -
- Matt (8/5): Very good -
- Peeps (4/5): Over priced... Very Under Whelming🙁 - Location Good. Nice and quiet. Over priced, over sold. And underwhelming. A very small, one room unit, no comfy chairs, kitchenette = fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and hot plate... not set up for proper meals. Mismatch of cups and glasses... yeah KMart... but not good enough! No chopping boards. You have have to wash and prepare food and do dishes in the bathroom sink... which had a gunk ring around the plug hole. Two picture hooks on the wall with nothing on them. Panel heater removed... holes and screws in wall just sitting there. Hairs and dust on bathroom floor... sink a bit gungy.
Bed comfy. Deck nice but nothing to sit on... garden overgrown and untidy.
For $240/night this is a rip off... $140 per night, maybe. Feel ripped off, this is like a basic cabin in a camping ground. A cash cow that gives NZ a bad name!!
- Andrew (8/5): fantastic comfy location - Great easy self check-in. fantastic clear instructions from host. very tidy and comfortable room no milk provided made the coffee and tea useless. also sensor light stays on for quite a while and shined into bedroom which was annoying when trying to sleep
- Keith (7/5): Good - That it was out of town and in the country! Hooks on the wall with no pictures!
Confusing instructions about the heater!
A hair in my coffee mug!
- Sandra (9/5): all great!! - easy self-check-in, small but well-equipped rooms, great view, parking space right in front of the room
- Mike (7/5): Good -
- Grant (8/5): A lovely, peaceful retreat. - Self contained studio in a quiet setting, a short drive from town. Comfortable bed, good shower and well equipped. Glenorchy was lovely, although sad to see a few businesses no longer operating. No signage outside the property to indicate where it was, alternatively arrival instructions could have said it was the first driveway on the left. The outlook from the property is onto a grassed area with trees and shrubs beyond. These completely obscured the views of the mountains and snow beyond. A reduction in height would improve this significantly.
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (8/5): Enjoyed our 2 night stay - Lovely outlook to mountains from room
Nice terrace to take in the view
Good bathroom
Comfortable bed
Very efficient wall heater
Kitchen well fitted out with microwave and cooktop which worked well
Handy to Routburn walkPleasant Some noise from next room
Kitchen a bit cramped
Dishes had to-be washed in bathroom basin
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Nigel (8/5): Very good - Value for money We Weren’t expected, phone contact was owners in uk not answering luckily only other guest had local number so got in fairly quickly. No aircon as was too hot
- Catherine (3/5): Poor - Comfortable bed. Good location.. Long grass and weeds everywhere. Absolutely no room to make a sandwich.
TV didn't work.
Not worth the money paid.
- Arthur (3/5): 1 star. Not recommended - Quiet. Good Mountain View Advertised as kitchenette, but lacking in the most basic feature. For example, no cutting board, no large mixing bowl, no strainer etc…. You had to wash dishes in the bathroom sink
No air circulation in room, soft bed, inadequate towels. Unresponsive management - I called but they did not respond
- Jennie (8/5): Very good - Beautiful room, comfy bed. Good location. Easy check in. All great thank you The kitchenette is tiny and using the bathroom sink for washing up was ok,but not the best.
Also understand the balance between protection from wind and views, but is only just a view of the mountains!
- Amy (9/5): Superb - The view was fantastic
- Rosemary (7/5): Good - lack of a kitchen sink a disadvantage
- Meriel (9/5): Superb - Self contained, quiet, near great things to do. Hot at night but unable to open doors because of insects
- Anne (8/5): Very good - Quiet and peaceful position No one on site when we arrived, no signs, it was a little confusing
- Jia (3/5): Poor -
- Steven (8/5): Very good - Idyllic location, very peaceful
- Amanda (7/5): Nice rooms and view, needs a little attention to detail on the outside facilites. - Modern, clean and well equipped room. The view is wonderful, but could be so much better if the hedge trees were trimmed by half the height, so you can see more of the mountains. Needs fly screens on the door, so you can enjoy the breeze without the sandflies.
- Beth (8/5): Just as expected. Would stay again. - This is a small place with small rooms but the location is lovely, there is outdoor space provided and it was exactly as I expected. Met our needs perfectly and all aspects of the rental were clear.
- Andrew (9/5): Fantastic location just out of Glenorchy - Excellent self check in and details from host! Space had all features for an enjoyable nights stay. fantastic garden and views over the mountains would suggest a number on the driveway although was easy enough to find
- Vadim (7/5): Good - Everything except the lack of AC. Lack of AC. Not so comfy at night in the summer
- Yining (10/5): I loved it and I’ll miss this studio. Would definitely recommend to friends or come back. - The mountain view from back yard is amazing. The studio rooms were very cozy and neat, peaceful. If there was a fly screen it would be great.
- Max (10/5): Lovely getaway that is also close to the action! - Incredibly quaint location. Interiors are well decorated and clean. Only a 10min drive to Glenorchy town center.
- Holly (8/5): Very good - Lovely peaceful spot with beautiful mountain views. Good cooking facilities and range of dishes and utensils. Comfortable bed and good shower in a good sized bathroom. Nice outdoor courtyard with table and chairs. However, there is nowhere to wash the dishes or get water except in the bathroom. Compact studio.
- Emma (9/5): Superb -
- Anne-sylvie (10/5): A breath of fresh air in a magnificent setting! - The instructions were very clear. I was able to arrive as I wished and settle in without difficulty. The studio is large and bright, very quiet and well equipped. The view of the mountains is splendid!
- Karol (8/5): Great for short stays - The beautiful location in nature. Nothing.
- Emma (10/5): Very happy. - Quiet, private, clean, modern and probably what you’d expect for the price. I didn’t mind, but it is 6 kms out of Glenorchy.
- Rodney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clarke (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, basic accommodation but has everything one needs to be comfortable. Beautiful location just outside of town.
- Florian (9/5): Superb - Quiet and peaceful
- Andrew (5/5): Passable - Location and ease of check in and out Fridge was very loud all night. Possible pest problem as we heard things running inside the walls and roof
