Guest Reviews
- Dewald (9/5): This is more than just an overnight stay, it is an experience. - We had everything we needed and could simply enjoy this unique experience - it will really stick with us for many years to come. The feeling of privacy while being in a glass bubble made this so special. The wood-fired hot tub takes a while to heat up - we however expected this. I am sure the option of having a meal on site after refurbishments to the restaurant are done would further enhance the experience.
- Nazley (10/5): - It was absolutely amazing. Its peaceful and quite. Everything was perfect 👌. The staff was so attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend anyone to experience your accommodation. I would definitely visit again. The fairy lights, the hot rub , the sounds of nature all around you made the experience so much more enjoyable. There was no plug for me to use the hairdryer
- Anja (10/5): Such a magical place for a romantic getaway! - Everything was so well thought out, private and lovely Nothing!
- Kezli (9/5): A fun and unique experience in a secluded spot, perfect for a little getaway. - Everything you could need in a fun and unique experience.
- Jozef (10/5): What a beautiful quick getaway for my hubby and I. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt super relaxed! We will be bac - Contactless check in with clear easy instructions. The privacy and well thought out space was beautifully done. The visible electric fencing (but obviously safety first)

- Basil (10/5): Very special must do. - Unique, quirky and very special/memorable. One of those special things to do that one will remember as a couple. Romantic. Fun. Unique. Plan in advance to bring a picnic basket or equivalent with food for dinner and breakfast as once you are there you might not want to go out for meals during the stay. There is a kettle, refrigerator and microwave, salt & pepper pot, utensils, water & wine glasses etc. Also a Nespresso coffee machine. Be aware that once you decide to close the curtains there is still a lot of light coming into the room so staying here is about the romance, the sky at night, the uniqueness and expect the sun to penetrate in during the early hours so, if you are light sensitive, you will wake up earlier than you might hope. Don't expect fast internet connection - about 7 - 9 Mbps

- Marco (1/5): - Ligging De dome was lek en we hebben ons verblijf moeten afbreken vanwege lekkage.
- Kristi (10/5): - Amazing experience !!!!
- Imandi (10/5): I would absolutely recommend the Dome if you looking for a beautiful getaway in the winelands. - Super easy - we communicated through whatsapp, instructions were clear from the start. The golf cart was a super fun element to drive to your Dome which added to the incredible experience. We went for dinner in the lovely town of Franschhoek and use uber to go back and forth. Would absolutely stay here again. It was perfect - location, privacy, the setting just beautiful.
- Harriet (10/5): I went on a solo evening and it was everything I’d hoped for. super relaxing and magical - So unique and a little slice of paradise! It was so peaceful and the wood fired hot tub was so relaxing under the stars. It had everything you’d need to do a nice braai as well as fridge to keep some wine chilled. Highly recommend.
- Mario (7/5): - Private.. Different Surroundings not as pictures.
- Timotheus (10/5): Perfect 1 or 2 night stay in perfect environment. - Rustic luxury. Easily accessible and everything perfect! Nothing
- Tolga (10/5): Memorable. - A very unique and romantic experience for a couple looking to stay somewhere a little more secluded while still being on-grid. The accommodation had everything you could want and was full of little surprises like the hidden tv and open shutters bathroom. The hosts were very quick to respond and helpful with any issues. The hot tub is nice as once the sun sets, it does get a little chilly. Would highly recommend.

- Andrea (10/5): Picturesque and relaxing stay, perfect for a honeymoon. - Gorgeous, private, romantic, unique and close to town and wineries. Extremely well equipped. Driving the golf cart to and from the dome was very fun. Bathroom door has a tricky lock that we couldn’t open from the inside. Possible we just didn’t know how to work it. Also, it’s tough to control the temperature on the hot tub.
- De Witte (10/5): -
- Jono (10/5): - The hot tub was great, ready on arrival. The view from the bath over looking the steam. The stars through the roof while lying in bed. Free beer tasting at the craft brewery. That I had to leave.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Johanna FE (7/5): -
- Mary (9/5): - Bathroom had no privacy
- Kleyn (9/5): Simply lovely - The Hot tub, the bottle of champagne and proper coffee
- Schalk Wiehan (9/5): - Extremely unique experience sleeping under the stars and bathing next to a rushing river. The bed, unfortunately, was extremely soft and hollowed out. My back still hurts.
- abraham (9/5): overall it was very nice breakaway. would love to do it again. - the bath at the dome was very nice. the superviser was sorting out all the problems there was an isue with electricity and hot tub was not working
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wes (9/5): Superb -
- Barendse (8/5): Overall pleasant experience, highly recommended for a get away - Loved the attention to detail to make sure our stay was comfortable and the host thought of everything we would need for our stay. Love the cart that was made available for us to use during our stay. Very easy directions to follow as provided by the host. Especially appreciated the friendliness of the staff and how they went out of their way to make this stay memorable. Loved the craft beer restaurant on the premises. Water was not hot throughout our stay. On arrival we were told what was broken and what didn’t work. (Curtains, remotes, tables, etc) Curtains around the dome did not open/close properly and could not open the top of the dome so missed the star gazing experience as advertised.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good -
- Rishi (9/5): Superb -
- Neely (9/5): We had a fantastic stay at the Vino Dome! A fun, eclectic, luxury "glamping" type experience. -
- Sari-luisa (7/5): It’s an experience but an expensive one - Nice to relax with jaccuzzi
Jaccuzzi heat up when we arrived
Owner very responsive and helpful
Wine bottle included
The golf cart was a funny experience to reach the place Too expensive for quality of the bubble, pretty cheap material
Window by the shower transparent
Very bright while sleeping, good they provided masks
Very noisy at night as you hear everything in the surroundings
- Reinhardt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaux (9/5): A lovely and spacious dome located by the banks of a small river near Franschhoek - A lovely and spacious dome located by the banks of a small river near Franschhoek. The dome offered great comfort both inside and out, with a beautiful bathroom that opened up on one side.
Though it was cloudy during our stay, I'm sure the sky view would have been absolutely stunning on a clearer night. The dome is a standalone structure with no nearby facilities, which adds to its charm. However, this also means that there is no on-site service, such as a restaurant or bar.
- Anton (10/5): Breathtaking stay - Everything was excellent
- Farouk (9/5): Superb - Everything was good
- Joanna (10/5): Amazing! -
- Thulani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - What an incredible experience in the dôme by the full moon week-end. That was amazing. Plus the river next to us and by the way it was very calm and secure. A very nice hot tub. Everything was great. I will say that I also enjoyed the little 4x4 car and the champagne. Thank you so much.
- Renita (9/5): Unique stay that provided comfort and luxury - The uniqueness of the property was wonderful. We had 3 small doggies with us and it was safe for them to roam around. We went for walks through the forest and had a beautiful experience. Everything about the property was great. The only thing I found they didn’t have was a long standing mirror for when you get ready. But that is a personal preference.
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Beth (8/5): Forest and nature on Franschhoek’s doorstep - Spectacular views and novel concept, I am sure this one will stand out in our memories. We loved the hot tub on the deck and driving around in the 4x4 golf cart. The air conditioning made things very comfortable. We loved looking through the roof and seeing the stars. In the midst of nature but close to town. The bath in the forest was not very private and the door remote was not working. Communication from the host was poor.
- Larissa (10/5): Magical ! - ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD ! We were on our honeymoon. It was amazing so perfect to relax and zone out after the wedding. Much needed ! Nothing .
- Alberts (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing. Loved everything about the stay...
- Pj (7/5): We really enjoyed the location and comfort, however I do feel that it was overpriced. - The location was exceptional. Very very beautiful. The TV remote was acting up and one of them had flat batteries.
- Samantha (5/5): Passable - The concept is really lovely and we had a really nice afternoon here on the first day before we slept. The host is v helpful and easy to contact. There are a few issues unfortunately. The deck lights kept switching themselves on and off in the night, even though we had the switch off. There was some sort of noise that we thought was a generator turning itself on and off every 5 minutes all night. It was only at 7am that i realised it was the fridge so I unplugged it, but both of these things kept us awake all night. The light wouldn’t have been that bad if there had been eyemasks provided as the info said there would be, but unfortunately there weren’t any. It’s also super light in the morning of course because the curtains don’t cover all the glass, so eye masks are really imperative. Also, there is some construction going on just below and I think possible above where the dome is, so from about 6am onwards you could hear trucks coming and going. They were driving past quite a bit in the morning and one of the nicest things about the place is that you can open the garage doors and have a bath open in the forest, but obviously we couldn’t do that as there were workers going past! Also, there is a coffee machine but no coffee pods and they had left a box full of the last guest’s recycling that hadn’t been cleared away. Just all a bit disappointing especially as it was a birthday treat for me. It’s pretty expensive when there are quite a few issues.
- Georgina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anco (9/5): Superb -
- Anton (10/5): Impressed - Everything was amazing. The attention to detail was impressive. Really a fantastic place to stay.
- Caitlin (9/5): A unique experience well worth it! - The dome truly is a unique experience. The facilities were all exceptional and well worth the fun. The views are absolutely stunning and the deck is well designed for comfort. You do not get better in terms of location with close enough access to civilisation and the novelty of being able to retreat to nature for some much needed downtown. The bed is rock hard and so I battled to sleep. There is also no backup incase of loadshedding so we spent 2hrs in the dark and with no aircon which is essential in the dome for comfort (otherwise bugs make themselves comfortable inside). The light that was provided in case of loadshedding was not placed on charge and so we really were in the dark using our phone torch to see.
Whilst I can appreciate the marketing efforts I think removing some of the black signs or making smaller signs would create a more nature driven appeal to the place. A dial back on some of the decor clutter to make some table space inside would also help make the place feel like luxury. The fake plants in the bathroom are not necessary when you are surrounded by such beautiful natural fauna.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Jp (9/5): Superb -
- Jaco (10/5): A stay with big Wow factor - Excellent accommodation with a big "WOW" factor. Definitely something different, but great facilities and lots of fun. Wife loved the bath and hot tub. Well thought out (aircon, wifi, tv). Can strongly recommend. You wake up very early, but it is part of the experience. We loved it

- Dale (10/5): Book Once Upon a Dome NOW! - When you select to book this style of accommodation its for a reason. Once upon a Dome was everything and more than we ever imagined. Fabian is on hand to greet you to starting the Hot tub and showing us around. Its such a great concept and everything was thought of. We stargazed until it started raining so got to experience nature in its entirety. We Spent time on the Chill Net and in the Hot Tub. We were lucky with perfect weather. Loved the bathroom design with a 'garage door' that allows an open air setup. Nevermind the pop up tv screen at the end of your bed. Well done Once Upon A Dome. You have created a magical concept. Absolutely nothing.
- Fangjia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peach (10/5): Peaches looking for galaxies - The setting was amazing, truly an amazing stay with even better experiences. The room plus facilities make it an amazing getaway. The signage from entrance to parking/ reception was not clear.
- Ray (10/5): Exceptional - wonderfull
we stayed 2 nights on the 2nd night we saw fireflies around the dome you have to see it to believe it we should have stayed longer
- Lisa (9/5): Luxury romantic dome accomodation in Franschoek - Absolutely stunning luxury dome accommodation in Franschoek. The thoughtful touches, accompanying 4x4 and hot tub made this a very special experience! The dome is also very close to the centre of Franschoek for nearby restaurants and shops! Would 100% recommend! We wished we could've stayed for longer but it was a little bit on the pricy side for us!
- Lorella (10/5): It was absolutely everything I expected and more, I would definitely go back - The location was amazing
- Johannie (9/5): Simply magical and out if this world❤️ - It was magical! So grateful we could have the time there!! Everything was special! The net, the chairs, the little braai, the bed, the bath, the treats. Wow Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great so we couldn’t go for a jog or see the stars🤗too cold to use the outside tub
- Tracy (9/5): A relaxing evening under the stars- perfect - Unique accommodation with all the amenities There is nothing not to love
- Elmien (7/5): Good - not suitable for own preparations of meals
all the rest was beautiful
With rainy non good weather this is a complete different experience in terms of food preparations, barberque etc etc.
Would not recommend in cold weather but will be wonderful in summer
- Des (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leechen (10/5): Beautiful and unique getaway - Helpful and friendly staff. Special touches like bubbly on arrival, nuce warm gowns and other small touches that made it special N/A
Could do with extra heat in the bathroom.
If you plan on using the hot tub it does take a couple of hours to heat up.
