Guest Reviews
Her vil vi gerne bo igen Intet
- Roger (10/5): - Måltidene var fantastiske og servicen var som alltid utrolig bra! Alt var topp!
- Davide (10/5): Best hotel ever - Maybe the most beautiful hotel i have ever experienced.
- Anne-Ki (9/5): Consider me a loyal fan—I'm coming back! - I just had the best stay at Kleivstua in Sundvollen! It’s a magical spot that feels so far away but is only an hour from Oslo—perfect for an authentic Norwegian getaway.
The moment I arrived, I felt the history. My room was located in a charming red building that had once been a mountain farm, and it was extremely cozy and clean. The staff were fantastic—friendly yet professional, which made everything feel welcoming. And there are so many rooms to explore in the main building!
I missed dinner, but I heard the food was great! Breakfast was delicious, especially making my own Norwegian waffle. The views were stunning, and I loved hiking, especially at King’s View (Kongens Utsikt). Honestly, one night isn’t enough; a couple of days is ideal. I’ve already decided I’m going back! I do think the 10 AM check-out is a bit too early, given the number of things to enjoy. An 11 AM or 12 PM check-out would be ideal, allowing guests to enjoy a stress-free breakfast and squeeze in a morning walk or hike before leaving. And for the winter enthusiasts, I'm told the cross-country skiing trails are endless, suitable for all ages and skill levels.

- Henry (10/5): - Excellent location, really good breakfast and the sauna in the room was a big plus. Nothing
- Olga (7/5): - Very quiet. Suits for people who want to hike nearby. Not very friendly lady at check-in.
Extra cost to pay for a private road.
Limited and expensive option for dinner.
It was only 1 blanket and 1 towel for 2 people in the room.

- Ondřej (10/5): - Nice location. We ordered the 3 course menu, which was just amazing! Near to the hotel, there is a nice view. Nothing
- Josef (10/5): -
- Armand (10/5): Juste parfait, nous avons passé un agréable moment - L’emplacement et le restaurant est une très bonne adresse.
- Richard (10/5): Fantastic - Fantastic location, easy access to multiple trailheads. Cute cabins, great breakfast.
- Hui (9/5): Superb - Location , staff , food, parking Nothing
- William (7/5): Could have been perfect - The hotel compound is simply beautiful. From the cabins to the pond, everything looks amazing. And those views! Just great. The area is also very quiet and offers nice walks in the woods. The room, although quite small, had lots of character and was decorated appropriately. The breakfast was very good. We had to wait a very long time at check-in due to the employee being on the phone. At no point did they even acknowledge us, let alone call someone else to check us in. The room wasn’t cleaned all that well (lots of hair and other debris on the floor). To access the hotel, you have to use a local toll road (40kr. each use), which wasn’t mentioned during booking and really adds up if you make several trips down the mountain.
- Svetlana (10/5): Highly recommended to stay at! - We were accomodated in the separate house with 5 rooms and a shared lounge. We were lucky to stay there alone, no other guests. The room was spacious enough, very cosy and clean. Breakfast was rich and fresh. Especially would like to mention dinner. The quisine was delicious, Chef is a real master! Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the perfect stay)
- Richard (10/5): The best stay in a hotel ever! - This is the perfect hotel: lovely views of the landscape, the room was beautifully decorated old Norwegian style without compromising luxery, the food was excellent and the ingrediënts were homegrown, plucked in the wood or locally grown, the hotel itself was a beauty on it’s own. The personell excellent and very friendly with a story to tell. I cannot think of anything
- Far (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (10/5): Wonderful natural hotel to disconnect - Friendly staff. More than plenty of towels. Flexible arrival times. Wonderful meal! Beautiful scenery and hut. Small Upper windows shutters to remove the light from the sun from early mornings in Norway
- Vanessa (5/5): Passable -
- Mark (9/5): Traditional and comfortable accommodation - Spectacular view, great breakfast, comfy + traditional accommodation.
- Malakeh (9/5): Superb -
- Morten (9/5): Excellent experience and value - Extremely cozy environment, fantastic views and sublime staff! Dinner had to be ordered the day before, but there's plenty of options in the town just 20 min away.
- Maxime00 (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eva (10/5): Amazing stay in the middle of the forest - It was our first accommodation while traveling in Norway and the atmosphere of the little cottages and the full environment was simply gorgeous! Having breakfast included was a great option and very delicious.
Unfortunately we stayed here for only 1 night, but I'd surely rebook it & recommend it, too! Nothing like this.
- Henna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (10/5): We can’t wait to spend a few days at Kleivstua Hotel next time we come to Norway - The staff is very professional ,the cabin was cozy and comfortable, the wonderful dinning experience. Food was excellent and breakfast was also varied and tasty. Thank you!
- Justin (9/5): Superb - Stunning location, beautiful rustic accommodation. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend staying here
- Antonia (9/5): Superb - The location is amazing, the room super comfortable.
- Fredrik (9/5): Superb -
- Jesper (10/5): Perfect - Nature and scenery as only found in Norway. A perfect four courses dinner with “lumberjack” portions and “Danish” wineglasses.
Absolutely perfect! Highly recommended staying here.
- Neza (10/5): Absolutely fabulous! - Everything was just perfect. From the staff to accommodation and location. The breakfast was splendid, the view from the terrace was just breathtaking. We got a whole cottage for ourselves - and we even had private sauna! It felt so good after a short hike in a chilly Norwegian Summer. Highly recommend! The bed was too soft for our liking. But we were very tired so it did its job. :) Everything else was just great. I cannot recommend this accommodation enough.
- Erick (9/5): Superb -
- Damion (10/5): Fantastic - one of the best places we have ever stayed - Fantastic views, wonderful and rustic rooms, superb value for money, delicious and varied breakfast, very helpful team (before and during our stay), picture perfect
- Mareks (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corey_j (10/5): Exceptional -
- Start555 (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (9/5): Superb - A little paradise of peace and quiet tucked away at the end of the road! Our chalet was quiet and comfortable. The food was delicious and the service warm and attentive - we were placed in to our own lovely private dining room although I suspect this may have been as they were preparing for a big wedding in the main dining space. Our room was a two bedroom two floor chalet which was sympathetically decorated to match traditional style - our beds were really comfortable and the shower had a good pressure. There was a high window in our room over the bed, which had no curtains, I always sleep with an eye mask so this wasn't a problem in terms of privacy or light. There could have been a little more space for toiletries in the bathroom.
