• Leslie (9/5): All in all, it was a great stay. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. - The location was great. Surrounded by embassies, it felt very safe. It was an easy walk to the market and parliament hill. A great little cafe was very close by. Parking was in a one lane driveway. You would need to contact other guests to move their car if they blocked you in. We could park the car on the street because it was a weekend and parking restrictions didn’t apply. Pillows weren’t great- very flat.
• Rick (3/5): Totally mis-sold, shared kitchen not private and just a bedroom not a suite, we feel conned!! - The location was walking distance to most things. The shared kitchen and common areas and the fact that an en-suite bedroom with just beds, wardrobe, dressing table and matching chair and not even a TV IS NOT A SUITE!! The place is advertised as having a private kitchen IT IS NOT IT IS SHARED WITH 5 OTHER BEDROOMS! Also the kitchen has holes in the ceiling which having read other reviews have been there for some time. As we did not want to eat dinner sat around a table with two other families for a second night, we left a night early and booked somewhere else. Also we complained to the management company who asked what the problem was and we told them, I have waited 5 days before submitting this review but as of yet, no response. The photos attached are the hole in the ceiling and the buckets underneath to catch the leaking water coming from the hole!

La toile je fernais pas dans la xhambre jai du lattacher avec la gansse de mon bagage. Stationnement pas pratique du tour. Lumiére de la salle de bain des piece commune n"allumait plus. Beaucoup de grosses fourmis.et petit scarabés dans le sous sol. Oreillers hyper mince.

We booked a room on Booking.com. Five minutes later, we received instructions from the hostess, and it turned out we'd be staying in the basement. We decided to cancel the reservation and get a refund, but she refused. Booking.com said the hostess could do this at her discretion, but she didn't want to... an unpleasant experience.

• Alexkayser (7/5): Fair satay, good location. - The house is located close to many places we wanted to go. It provides parking space, but guests block each other. House is beautiful inside, nice social space. Kitchen had a huge leak in the ceiling, fix work in progress. Bedroom door has an electronic lock and my family didn't feel safe on the inside because we were not sure if the door was really locked, plus we have a toddler and she could easily open the "locked" door and walk away. TV remote control was not working properly. Kitchen needs more utensils.

• ROMANY (8/5): We had a very nice experience , walking distance to the Byward Market. - Clean and attractive finishes, nice dining area and fully stocked kitchen, very nice private bathroom. Easy walk to the Byward Market and Parliament. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable and they were having issues with a leaking pipe that left the kitchen ceiling open. There were also instances of other guests whose rooms were not ready for them; however, our room was good!

Tagsüber ist die Parksituation etwas knapp bzw. es gibt nur die Einfahrt zum parken und somit blockieren sich die Bewohner. Man muss einfach mit einander kommunizieren. Dafür gibt es ein Whiteboard wo sich jeder einträgt.

• Vasiliki (6/5): Decent but not great - 10 minute walk from city center. Comfortable room with fully equipped kitchen. They have transformed a garage into a small guest house . The room was relatively cold but it was end of January with -15 temperature in Ottawa. There was an extra radiator that we used to make the room warmer. The place needs some attention, there were some loose fixtures and the internet was not working at all for the first 4 days but the hostess made sure to call someone to get it fixed .

• asma (7/5): Good place to stay! - The place feels like home: nice, clean, quiet, cosy, with a shared, equipped kitchen. Quiet and safe neighbourhood with a couple of embbesies. I am a solo traveller, and I found it safe and homely! During my stay, I encountered many visitors! I stayed on the top (3rd) floor. Anyone with health issues (someone like me) would find climbing the 3rd floor difficult. And the washroom does not have a door, so people travelling with family and friends should bear this in mind. Need to upgrade it to be accessible.

• Amr (3/5): Good until landlord scammed me. - Good room size, private bathroom. My Room door digital key code automatically changed the morning before my checkout time. Landlord sent someone after 1 hour to fix it which made me late. I paid for latecheck out to the landlord (on their private website) and they refused to refund me. Be mindful of crooks. No morality.

• Lorri (6/5): - Our group loved having the guesthouse to themselves. The location was great and having parking for our three vehicles was very helpful. We'll be making return trips to Ottawa and were hoping this guesthouse could be a repeat site for lodging, but until repairs are made, the condition of the house made our group uncomfortable. The guesthouse is in need of repairs. There were holes in the walls, etc. They were so noticeable that our 2 group leaders took photos upon arrival to ensure we weren't accused of damaging the property. Also, before our group departed, other people walked into the guesthouse. We gave our departure time online in the booking information. Our group leader didn't think they were the cleaners (though they could have been), and these strangers just walked into the guesthouse before our group left. It was very odd.

The house was well-equipped with everything we needed, and the host was consistently responsive and helpful. The location is also excellent, just a few minutes away from the main attractions in Ottawa. It would have been helpful to have access to the main house to better organize parking. Since cars need to be parked one behind the other, coordinating parking without access made the process inconvenient. Additionally, the blinds were broken, so they couldn’t be fully opened and we had to have the lights on.

Everything felt modern and thoughtfully designed, which made it both comfortable and enjoyable to stay in. The place was also very spacious, giving us plenty of room to relax and feel at home. You can really tell the host pays attention to detail—everything was spotless and exactly as described. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish and comfortable place!

• Michelle (8/5): Absolutely Wonderful but Way Too Hot - The location was great and the host helpful and responded quickly. The house was lovely and accommodations were spotless and welcoming. We had a great stay and will stay again if we return. The house was WAY too hot, especially for sleeping, even in the basement. The thermostat was set to 25°c and could not be changed. We had to sleep with the window open (winter). It would also be very helpful if the host could advise all guests that they MUST write their vehicle and contact details on the board at the front door. We were trapped in the driveway a few times so in the end we opted to park on the road, where there are 1 hour only time limits on weekdays. Also, new pillows are required the IKEA wafers are not comfortable at all.

• Therese (7/5): Privacy measures need to be addressed! We did not take a shower because of this issue! It was a 3 night stay! Privacy an - Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Very roomy. Very affordable. Close to venue. 1) The embassy next door had very powerful flood lights that ‘flooded’ into our bedroom. The shade did not block any light. Because the shade was white, it illuminated the flood lights. We had to use the dark towels to hang on the shade to block the floodlights, so we could sleep. 2). We requested an extra towel. The property acknowledged but did not provide. 3). We requested a curtain for the bathroom. The owner acknowledged and said they would provide but there was no action to provide privacy that was lacking. To have a shower meant we would have to do it in the dark. The window gave too much opportunity for anyone to see in.

• Maïténa (3/5): Bruyant et odeurs de cigarettes - Les instructions claires et l'appartement rangé. L'odeur de cigarette dans la chambre et la salle de bain, qui n'est jamais partie du séjour malgré la ventilation et l'aération. Le bain qui ne se remplit pas, les oreillers plats, le bruit/party des occupants, les bruits des laveuses/sécheuses la nuit... Avoir des mouchoirs,napkins, café ou autres éléments pouvant rendre le lieu accueillant aurait été apprécié.
• Elizabeth (8/5): A comfy stay full of exploring - This place is in a great location and our room was really comfy! It has a well equipped kitchen and is nice and quiet. The host is not super responsive but overall that wasn’t a big deal.

• Pauline (6/5): Fonctionnel pour quelques nuits. - J’ai aimé que la propriétaire soit réactive en général. La localisation est vraiment bien. Les pièces à vivre sont grandes, c’est agréable de pouvoir y être. Le ménage est bien fait. La porte de douche était cassée, le pommeau de douche fuyait, des goutes d’eau tombaient du plafond dans la cuisine (il doit y avoir une fuite en ce moment à quelque part), notre rideau dans la chambre n’était pas fonctionnel et dans tous les cas des stores blanc ça ne protège pas du soleil pour dormir correctement, il y a peu d’ustensiles pour manger, peu de matériel pour cuisiner, il manque aussi des produits à de base (huile, sel, poivre), certains ustensiles sont cassés comme l’ouvre boîte.

• Judy (1/5): Terrible don’t book this Airbnb you will be disappointed!! - There was nothing we liked. It advertised parking and when we got there it was snow covered and a car parked in the driveway so every time we had to go out we had to call someone to move their car. I actually got stuck in the snow going out the driveway. The unit we were staying in was cold as we went in turned the heat up to 26 and it never got the room to being comfortable. There was one double bed and a couch which they called pull out it was slide down with a crease in the middle and the foam inside was flatened. My friend tried to sleep in it and it was hard like sleeping on a floor. The unit was advertised to sleep 4, like 2 in a double bed and 2 on this sad couch. I told my friend to sleep in the bed with me and she refused because she thought the sheets were never washed. She is a seasoned traveller and she didn’t want to sleep with any of the sheets. Everything was broken in the bathroom, the toilet seat, roll, towel rake. And to top it off mould in the corners of the shower outside. The owner said this was an acceptable amount of mould (wtf). They had a shade on the large window that was behind the main house with lights on 24 hours so the light came thru the shed in square eight in your eyes. No TV and we just wanted to watch the US/Canada hockey game so we went into the main house. A few people were staying there and let us in. I sat on one of the couches and it shook looking underneath the leg was broken. Then tried to get TV working and after a bit of frustration realized the remote only had one battery, and of course didn’t work.. the other people said they didn’t know about more batteries. We left and thought not surprised! This place was advertised as luxury!! Not at all. If you look at what we did like you will see there was nothing. We knew we couldn’t stay our second night so asked the owner if she could at least move us into the main house so we could get a comfortably bed for both of us - no could not do that as she said it was full. I asked at that point for a refund and we would look for another place, she sent us pictures of a marble floor mansion with over the top furnishings (and not in a good way) it was quite from the downtown Ottawa and we could have a room there and pay a cleaning fee. I got a bad vibe from the place and we decided to find another place to stay. Now we are not flushed with cash and only asked for 1 night refund. She said no as the heat was working and the mould was within the limit they allow (not sure what that meant health department guidelines). I have since found out that they have a few airbnb’s in Ottawa. I will be pursuing a refund d based on principle that the place was falsely advertised and plainly neglected for repairs. The sheets were a dark color and my friend said they were dirty (hard to tell) but not comforting to sleep on. The owner was just nasty and did not care about making us comfortable just a money grab. I will not be booking with Airbnb again, she makes it bad for others. This place wasn’t cheap but it was available and quite frankly I thought there was 2 beds and a pull out couch. The pictures kind of showed a bed in 2 different directions. So when it said sleeps 4 I thought 2 beds and a pull out. There was no way 2 people could have slept on that cheap dirty couch!

• Xue Lin (9/5): Overall good experience (beside the bedroom curtains) - I had “The Elsy” room was up to standard and the place is clean and welcoming In “The Elsy” room the curtain is an issue. In fact, one of the windows is receiving a bright light from the Embassy of Korea (the curtains should be changed for something thicker and darker shade) and there for it is very hard to sleep at night. Also, the bathroom shower in the basement had a broken sliding door.
