• Ariana (7/5): - Las instalaciones estaban muy lindas y la ubicacion nos resultó re practica: estaba muy cerquita de la estación de tren, algo que nos sirvio para movernos fácilmente. Tambien estaba cerca de la playa (a Jungle Beach fuimos caminando). El dueño fue muy amable con nosotros e incluso nos guardo un par de lentes que nos habiamos olvidado. Justo llegamos el dia de año nuevo, y no habia nadie para recibirnos. Esperamos alrededor de 1 hora y cuando alguien apareció, la habitación no estaba lista, asi que tuvimos que esperar mas aun. Obviamente se disculparon, y lo comprendimos, pero nos hizo sentir un poco incómodos la situación. El wifi es irregular (no es culpa del alojamiento, es así en la ciudad). La cocina estaba muy bien equipada, pero estaba un poco desordenada y había algunos restos de comida que atraían bichos.

• Renzo (9/5): Amazing!! - had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend it. The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with great AC—perfect after a long day out. The location is also ideal, just a short distance from Unawatuna Beach. What really made the experience special, though, was the hospitality. The host’s father was incredibly kind and welcoming, going above and beyond to make me feel at home. That personal touch made all the difference. I would definitely stay here again!

Liegt direkt an der Bahnlinie. Uns hat es nicht gestört aber man wacht schon mit dem ersten Zug am Morgen auf.

• Sun (9/5): - Belle grande chambre, bien équipée avec un matelas ferme, j'ai super bien dormi. Très silencieux la nuit et le matin pour dormir tard. Il y a une grande cuisine toute équipée, il y a même une cuisinière et une laveuse pour le linge. Un beau grand salon ouvert au deuxième étage et un stationnement intérieur pour les motos. C'est à 3-4 minutes à pied des restos, boutiques et du surfing, mais à l'intérieur d'une baie pour le surf. J'ai hésité en premier parce que la note était à 7.8. Personnellement je donne un 8.8. J'ai choisi cet endroit parce que c'est à 8 minutes en tuk tuk des highway bus pour Colombo Merci Bobby pour la super hospitalité 🤗

There was an issue with timing of breakfast, so I said Ok not problem just reimburse the cost, he only agreed to about 60%, I agreed but then I had to remind him multiple times, finally last day he tells me he is out-of-town... He did have a friend get me the cash. After all this, he asks me to cancel my reservation with booking.com so he doesn't have to pay commission. I paid the full "bookings" rate but he doesn't want to. Basically great spot but dishonest and unprofessional owner that ruined my impression. His wife by the way was great, it's really too bad.

• Ronny (1/5): Unexpectedly Asked to Leave After Questioning Room Discrepancies - 1. Room Downgraded Without Notice — Then He Tried to Shift the Blame: I had officially booked a room via Booking.com that was listed as 35 m² with a balcony, a king-size bed, and a private/separate entrance. Instead, I was placed in a much smaller, downgraded room — around 20 m², without a balcony and with no real privacy (a window opened directly onto a shared courtyard). The shades on that window had wide gaps between wooden slats and offered no actual visual barrier — more of a suggestion of privacy than the real thing. When I asked about the discrepancies, the host admitted via WhatsApp that he had given me a different room than the one I booked, and claimed that he had already told Booking to update the listing a week earlier — though clearly, that hadn’t happened. Whether or not his story is true, it was still on him to ensure that the listing matched the room or to notify me in advance. He then claimed I could move to the correct room — but only if I paid extra. He framed this as if I were trying to get a free upgrade, even though I had simply booked the better room through Booking.com. I never asked for anything beyond what was officially listed. In fact, I didn’t even ask for what I had reserved — I just asked about some things in the room that didn’t match the description. If he had misconfigured his listing, that was entirely his responsibility — not mine. When I asked a couple of basic questions about the room, he fairly quickly suggested I could cancel the booking. That happened before there was any disagreement or complaint. It wasn’t clear whether he was just being disorganized, lazy, or trying to avoid a problem, but it left me feeling like he didn’t want to deal with the situation — and certainly not take responsibility for the room switch. I hadn’t been confrontational.

The hostel is located within the muslim area and you will hear the muezzin during the day and early in the morning. Nothing, what could be changed from the hotel though :)

The only missing thing was the presence of staff. I couldn't find anyone on my check out to pay for the room for long time.

• Kristýna (5/5): Expected more for the price - The staff was friendly, kind and helpful, room clean, close proximity to the beach, bus station, restaurants and grocery shop. Great to stay in the middle between Galle and Unawatuna to be able to do both and more beaches. The price was very high for this stay.. No soap in the bathroom, the breakfast was quite small and not variable, screaming kids all evening until midnight (I don't know if they were from the owner, but I asked through message the first evening if the owner can do something about it and she told yes, the next evening was fine but the third again screaming kids - I know kids are loud and playful, but we came to rest here), no bottled water, sheets could be cleaner... + I would not recommend for those with light sleep.

Before checkout at 10, one of the staff kept knocking on my door while I was in the bathroom and when I finally opened he said „give me the money please“. So far in Sri Lanka I always paid at checkout and this was a very unpleasant ending to my stay!

Brand new guesthouse well located right between unawatuna and Galle so easy access to both (40 rupees in bus to either) Also only a few minutes walk to Bonavista beach, many places to eat nearby and it’s less touristic area so some good local places to choose from. Nothing all is good

Shop, pharmacy, food - is all close walking distance. The owner is very responsive on whatsap and will answer any queries. The one member of staff I’ve met is great. I really enjoyed my stay. I needed some time to rest after travelling for a while and it was the perfect quiet and peaceful place to do so. The place is super clean. The bed is comfy. The kitchen is great and stocked well with utensils, pans etc. You can use the washing machine. Overall, I am really happy with my stay and would recommend it to everyone.

The whole place was clean and bmhad beautiful plants everywhere. Location was also great and you are quickly at the beach. Will stay again next time I'm here. Thank you for a lovely stay
