Guest Reviews
- Sheila (8/5): The Carriage was perfect for our needs of a 1 night stayover. -
- Aine (1/5): - Didn't have a good stay here on night one a timber broke on the wooded decking ended up spraining my ankle and went home after the 1st night lost out on the other 2nights
- Caroline (9/5): Fab to have a relaxing space on a busy weekend after a full week and feel rested. Thanks, James. - Nice firm mattress on bed, quiet setting, genial host and excellent use of space in the carriage.
- Ruairi Devlin (8/5): A hidden gem to go choo choo over - Clean, compact and nicely tucked away Access to bathroom is very restrictive to anyone who is plus size.
Floor a little spongey in places. Part of deck collapsed due to rotten wood. (This was immediately fixed by James, the host)
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (7/5): Quirky but cramped. - Novel place to stay. Quiet location and lovely to hear variety of birdsong. Smaller bed very uncomfortable. Smaller than photos suggested for two people.
- Eimear (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): A lovely stay at a quirky railway carriage. - Quaint and unique stay, full of character. James is a one in a million host.... even when I accidentally locked myself out!
- Ursula (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Rykerd (7/5): Quirky but cute - Funky little place, which is exactly what I was looking for, traveling solo on a motorcycle. And the story of how James built it is awesome. It’s a little run down looking as it’s mostly built out of recycled materials, but that’s part of its charm
- Mary (5/5): Very difficult to find location & unknown to the locals! It's actually an airbnb which - Location Too tiny for two people, should really just be for one!
- Paul (8/5): quirky little converted carriage, very comfortable had everything I needed, thanks James! -
- Harry (8/5): Super, self contained stopover for Wild Atlantic Way touring. Motorcycle friendly. - Ideal location if touring this lovely part of Ireland.
The old converted railway stock sleeps two in separate single beds.
It might be quite cramped for two if hauling much luggage.
If you're into a bit o' self catering and looking for a one or two night stopover, this sort of 'quaint and slightly outa the ordinary' alternative to the usual hotel/B&B will fit the bill nicely. Fully equipped inc: super fast WiFi.
I was travelling by motorcycle and there was very secure parking on the property.
Very helpful and friendly host without being intrusive,
Old but clean and everything worked nicely.
Shower, toilet, kitchenette, WiFi, designated private parking,
I've no hesitation in recommending it for touristy travellers. The Little Green Carriage itself is fine but, there's not much going on in Kilcolgan.
A walk to the pub will take you about 5 -10 minutes.
It's quiet and friendly but serves no food at all.
There's not much else there if you dont want to drive to another village with more facilities.
I bought a frozen ready meal from the shop in the service station and micro-waved it back in the digs.
