• Emiel (7/5): Gezellige lodge - Gezellig lodge met vriendelijke eigenaar. Ruime kamer en mooie locatie. Een auto is wel aan te raden Bij aankomst stonk de koelkast naar vis en was niet helemaal schoon. Dode muggen hebben zich opgehoopt tussen de ramen. De badkamer was erg koud, heel klein en schimmel op de randen tussen de deur. Verder was het wel schoon maar het was duidelijk dat sommige delen worden overgeslagen. De gordijnen zijn niet erg verduisterend waardoor je rond 5/6 uur s ochtends al wakker wordt van het licht.
• Rezwana (1/5): Not worth staying. - The property was very old. The toilet of the room was without washlet and room was not clean enough. The bed side tables were full of dusts. Calling the staff sometimes they don’t even respond.

• Keanu (10/5): Warm, cosy and welcoming environment. - Very clean, cosy and warm. Love the cute cottage style atmosphere and the bed rooms spacious enough for two people with two ski bags. Bathroom very clean and staff very welcoming and lovely. Would come back to this place for sure! Location itself can be tricky to navigate to without access to a car, so you'll want that at least. Walking around to a nearby restaurant can be hairy depending on winter conditions.

La chambre était aussi confortable et le service de navette du logement très pratique (moyennant paiement) Le petit déjeuner n'était pas hyper qualitatif pour le prix et le dîner était bon mais cher également Faut s'organiser pour manger parce qu'il n'y a qu'un seul restaurant (très bon) à proximité, sinon faut prendre le taxi pour aller chercher des prix raisonnables un peu plus loin

We walked in as guests and left feeling like family. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Hakuba! There wasn't anything that we didn't like.

• Sophie (8/5): Homely stay with a great breakfast - This is a wonderful accomodation situated in the mountains but still close enough to the main road and only a 10min drive to the main town and facilities. Quiet and peaceful place that feels extremely homely. A very warm welcome and pleasant stay throughout. Huge rooms and very comfortable with chill-out communal areas too. The breakfast is amazing and it is different each day ranging from traditional Japanese breakfast to French toast, all prepared in a homely fashion. Really recommend staying here for everyone; couples, families, young travellers! Would recommend having a rental car to get around though as I dont know how often the buses are in this area! It would have been good to get fresh towels each day and the bin emptied as they wouldn't dry properly so they were wet every time we used them. Only a small thing and it was totally workable.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating, breakfast every morning was fantastic. They have common areas for food/drinks and hanging out by the fireplace, it felt like a lodge. The property is about a ten minute walk from a bus stop that will you nearly all of the slopes in Hakuba and there is a rental shop about 15 minutes away walking. Good bars and restaurants in the area as well. Would stay again there in a heartbeat! None!

• Patrick (10/5): Excellent boutique hotel/ski lodge with clean well-appointed rooms and friendly staff - Truly enjoyed getting to know the staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful. They provided transport to/from the train station and cooked us a delicious breakfast every morning. Our room was spacious and clean and we had access to nice common areas and a dry room for ski gear. Located halfway between Iwatake & Tsugaike with easy access to the Ohikura-Jizo-mae bus stop. The onsen at Sierra Resort was also excellent and only a 5 minute walk from Kawa Mountains. There are only 1-2 restaurants within walking distance so going out to dinner could be inconvenient if you don't have a car. However, this was only a minor issue and we were much happier staying at Kawa than if we had stayed in one of the main villages.

• Melinda (9/5): Cosy and charming atmosphere, welcoming and helpful staff, convenient location for ski rental - Breakfast was different everyday, healthy, well balanced, and delicious with a vegan option. Tea and Coffee available at all times. Very cosy atmosphere with alcoves to sit, or around the fire pit that encourage people to meet and gather. The beds were very comfortable. Staff were helpful, mindful, and very friendly with us. This place feels like a welcoming home. Not many restaurant near by, better to have a car to go out for dinner. But staff kindly provided instant noodles (charged at cost) if you don’t want to go out.

In terms of location, it was away from the main areas which gave us the peace and quiet we needed. It would be best to rent a car to get around. The closest mountains were tsukagi and iwatake. This will be the place to go whenever we go back to hakuba !

The room is warm and spacious with breathtaking view of the mountains. Convenient area for drying clothes and equipment on the first floor. Cozy common areas with a fireplace and books. Tasty breakfasts, especially the traditional Japanese. The hosts are very nice people - they helped us with waxing snowboards, recommended a hotel with an onsen, gave a transfer to the bus stop and helped with luggage. P.S. Staffs were able to fluently communicate in English, Japanese and Chinese. The staffs went out of their way to help us with recommendations on which resort to go everyday. My kids loved to social with the staffs as they were lovely and offered them roasted marshmallow. We had a welcome drink, which quickly turned into drinks lol! Room was clean, view outside the window was good. Breakfast was tasty and we were offered different breakfast daily. Location was great, closer to Tsugaike and Iwarake. Little private court location so kids can play with snow out the front. Would 100% return. Best decision we made in Hakuba. Loved every bit of my stay.

• Alyse (8/5): - We stayed here 11 nights and the staff were so lovely and accommodating! There is an open fireplace that was lit in the afternoons which was so homey. They also had a kei car we hired for our whole stay which was super convenient as the accom is out of town a little. We got a wholesome breakfast everyday which we could set different times for each day. Our host Mio gave the BEST dinner recommendations that were the tastiest and cheapest we found! She also assisted in getting us hard to get reservations in town at short notice. We were given a whole bottle of champagne too upon asking about it advertised on booking.com, we were also given draft beer too! We received pick up and drop off from happo bus terminal and given mountain recommendations too. This is a traditional shoes off Japanese ski lodge with Japanese owners 🩷 we could speak no Japanese but managed to get all our needs met despite any language barriers We were hesitant at the beginning due to no reviews and the old lodges name being on Google maps however our stay was wonderful. I recommend getting a car for full comfort and flexibility however apparently there is a shuttle bus stop very close we just never used it.
