Guest Reviews
- Gregory (10/5): Stunning property right in middle of Buxton. Loved staying here and would highly recommend. - Fantastic location in centre of Buxton. Walk to everything. Great view of Buxton Baths and park across road. Very spacious and comfortable apartment, recently renovated. Great shower! The stairs, but this is expected for a building like this. Nothing else not to like.
- Martin (7/5): Generally A Nice Apartment - Great Apartment space
Lovely shower room
Great Location Unfinished staircase
Workmen on site, renovating the next room
No side lamps in lounge, couldn't make it cosy in the evening.
Workmanship was quite poor in some areas of the apartment.
- Claire (9/5): - Spacious and comfortable with a great position and great views Communal areas were unfinished and didn't give a great firts impression
- stephen (10/5): -
- Heather (9/5): Fantastic apartment - Very spacious apartment, central location, original features, warm and great views. Fantastic host. Only minor niggle, dishwasher door had a tendency to trap fingers when opened and was not clean inside.
- Bernadette (9/5): Great location with excellent views from large window. - Briliiant location with big rooms. The modern bathroom is spacious and the set out very pretty. Lots of thought gone into making guests feel comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Stunning views. The fridge is small but still good kitchen for cooking.
- Lucy (10/5): Lovely city centre stay for the family - City centre of the beautiful Buxton overlooking the park! Really friendly owners and has been refurbed to a lovely standard. Will return thanks
- Bell (10/5): Buxton stay - We were met and showed the facilities, the owner was Very helpful in everything we needed from the booking to leaving. The apartment was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with all facilities to a high standard. We would definitely stay again.and recommend this stay to anyone. There were no negatives at all.
- Rob (7/5): For the value - it’s well worth a visit - and Jon was a gent - The apartment is lovely- n still in progress but in a gem of a spot in Buxton Bed creaked -
- Lauren (6/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): Beautiful apartment with two large bedrooms and lovely bathroom, great lounge, fab location - Beautiful apartment fantastically located with excellent hosts Everything was perfect
- Williams (10/5): Perfect location in Buxton. - Friendly hosts who went above and beyond and even picked us up in the torrential rain. Thank you. N/a
- Lynn (9/5): Great break - The apartment was excellent, very clean , very well equipped. The staircase up to the apartment was a bit tatty!
- stuart (8/5): Great location - Apartment was very large and spacious but also very warm and cosy. It's close to the road so you can hear the traffic especially the crossing signal. At night it's fine for sleeping. The apartment is in the process of being redecorated so parts were unfinished
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Tracey (9/5): Well appointed and well located apartment - Excellent location. A very comfortable apartment with nice amenities. Very easy to collect the key from the host. Nothing.
- Emma (8/5): - Great central location and very reasonable price. The apartment had everything we needed.
- Bridget (4/5): This property has a lot of potential to be a fabulous apartment, however parking isn’t secure as it is on the pavement w - Spaciousness.
Beautiful fireplace
Up-cycled furniture Oven was disgustingly dirty.!!!the glass was dark brown on the inside😝
Pillows too flat and one was lumpy.
Kitchen cupboards were stiff to open needs hinges replacing.
Windows had handles missing, frames are old wooden frames,so were crumbling.
- Louise (9/5): -
- FEIYAN (10/5): - All good, nice place
- Clairy (9/5): We had a wonderful Christmas here :) - Brilliant big Living area/kitchen and fantastic views from every window! No oven gloves!
- Michelle (10/5): Very pleasant stay in a spacious apartment right in the centre with great views. Thank you - The communication after booking and meeting me at the property to show us around. Also recommendations on where to eat and drink in the area.
- Peter (5/5): Disappointing and poor value, but just about adequate as we were only there for one night. - Apartment was large and reasonably comfortable. Only 2 of us but plenty of room for 4 if needed. Excellent location for centre of town and we were lucky being able to park in the one public parking spot outside the front door. Heating was on when we arrived which was welcome and the whole apartment was warm. Poorly decorated and furnished throughout. Entrance up 2 flights of steep stairs, old bare wood not carpeted. Just about OK for us (80 & 78 yrs old) but would have been very difficult if not impossible for anyone with mobility problems. I don't recall this being mentioned in the property description.
Decoration unfinished in many places and old bare floorboards with poor attempt to sand/varnish. Minimal furniture and some pieces looking as though they had come from a jumble sale with no thought for appearance/function. Large wall mirror in main bedroom was standing on the floor leaning against the wall - perhaps waiting to be fixed on the wall. No wardrobe in main bedroom only a hanging rail. Hideous (a personal opinion) glass bedside tables.
Bathroom refurbished and very new but poorly thought out with no cupboard units or towel rails. Only bath towels and no hand towels provided. One soap dispenser which had to suffice for washbasin and shower.
Kitchen units relatively new and OK. Crockery, glasses etc were fine. Couldn't find a teapot but didn't search too hard!
A little worrying that for a commercial letting property there were no fire/emergency instructions available and no apparent fire extinguisher in the kitchen. Unsure if the ceiling fire/smoke detectors were actually working as one of them appeared to have suffered some sort of heat damage previously. The only emergency escape route (from this 2nd floor property) appeared to be down the constricted steep staircase.
- Stephen (9/5): Buxton Parkrun weekend - Wonderfully appointed apartment, Original features, and definitely great value for money.
- Spencer (9/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): Enjoyed our stay . Would return - Ideally situated for the theatre . Comfy and lovely views. Host very pleasant. Nice to have milk tea and coffee provided after a long journey . Oven could do with a clean . Only one hand towel . No mat for stepping out of shower . No hooks in bathroom . Would be handy to have a coffee table .
- Julie (10/5): Large spacious comfortable apartment - The location was perfect, in the centre of Buxton. The apartment was large and spacious with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. The apartment was warm and cosy. Would definitely recommend it, and would stay there again. Nothing
- Gregory (10/5): - Location was great, massive space. Cosy and homey. Host was lovely and helped us with knowledge of area . Would definitely stay again.
- HELEN (10/5): Great location and large space for a weekend trip - Host met us with key and showed us around.
- Julia (10/5): Fantastic -
- Danielle (9/5): -
- Isabel (10/5): - The location. Near theatre shops and plenty of bars and restaurants.
The apartment has plenty of radiators for this time of year November
Loved bathroom There is nothing did not like
- Gary (10/5): -
- Susan (7/5): -
- Tracey (8/5): - Location very good Traffic noise
- Angela (5/5): A great location for our one night stay to go to the opera house. - The location was brilliant, right in the middle of Buxton. The place itself was very roomy with beautiful views and parking right next to the door. Great. The building and flat is very tired and some parts feel unfinished. Paint peeling from ceilings and floorboards unfinished from room to room make it feel quite shabby. A few soft furnishings wouldn’t go a miss either, easy things to fix to make it feel more worth the money.
- Susan (7/5): - Very spacious. Lovely bathroom with great shower. Very comfy bed and nice bedding. Clean bathroom and bedrooms Dingy entrance and stairway.
Decoration and flooring in apartment is very tired. Stains on ceiling and walls in living area. Tatty kitchen units and the oven was filthy, though we only stayed one night so only used the kettle.
With a bit of TLC it could be a really beautiful apartment
- Mark (9/5): -
- Susan (9/5): - Great location, lovely apartment, super comfortable beds, fab views The curtains don't quite cover the windows so take an eye mask if light at night bothers you
- david (10/5): - Amazing apartment in a perfect location with amazing views. Absolutely highly recommend.
- Laura (10/5): -
- Justine (7/5): Great location - Great location some maintenance/attention to detail issues - i.e ill fitting curtains, tie backs not attached but overall neat and tidy
2 flights of stairs were a pain
- Beverley (10/5): Little Gem - This is aabsolutely a little gem to the centre of Buxton the apartment was fantastic 👏 it had everything you needed the beds were so comfy the we stayed 1 night but wished we stayed more the views from the apartment was just stunning 😍 thank you definitely booking again 👍😁
- Patricia Amores (9/5): -
- Shani (10/5): Clean, comfortable and huge windows with lovely view, will definitely be back - Very convenient, central location, Jon was very helpful 👍 Nothing, can’t fault it!!
- Evelina (5/5): Amazing location and size. Very poor quality of cleaning level - Location was great. The size of flat was great. Massive windows that made sitting room/kitchen look bright. Bathroom good size and refurbished. The flat was dirty. Oven - not had proper clean in months if not years(see picture) The dust everywhere (the plate on the shelves covered in dusts that not cleaned for weeks -see pictures). The bathroom door need wd40 spray as making horrible noise and waking everyone at night. Need touch of painting in many places (see picture). Feels like flat is neglected and not really looked after to make it outstanding.
Also could be more spoons/forks/knives to use as now it was 4 of each left.
Stairs to get to flat is steep so might not be suitable for elderly person (we had no issues to get there, only pointing this incase someone need to know)
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely weekend in Buxton - Located in centre of Buxton, perfect for exploring the town, visiting the Opera House, etc
- michael (8/5): -
- Sophie (9/5): -
- DAVID (7/5): A great location for a stay in Buxton - Fantastic location, and a friendly and helpful check in.
- Tony (8/5): Very good - Good central location and good facilities in the flat. The flat info did not make clear that there were two steep flights of stairs to access the flat. A problem for my less mobile colleague, but not for me.
- Claire (9/5): Beautiful apartment in great location - Beautiful big apartment right in the centre of Buxton, wanted to move into it! Pick up of keys was easy and lovely cafe right next door for breakfast. A little bit of noise at night but not more than expected for being in the centre of town
- Penny (7/5): Good - Location was great, and spacious. Noisy, and we had lots of luggage so the stairs were a bit of a workout to get it all up to the apartment.
- Carrie (8/5): Really nice, needs some finishing touches - Apartment is in a beautiful building, right in the heart of Buxton. You are literally minutes from the famous Crescent, St Ann's Well, and minutes from amazing independent food establishments! The cafe next door is a particular highlight of our trip.
The bathroom has been finished to a high standard, and the bed was very comfy.
There was a hairdryer there too which is something often overlooked in apartment rentals. Really pleased to see that included. The apartment lacked a few "plush" touches - no cushions on the couch, no blankets for when it got chilly, no coffee table, etc. Not very homely.
Lack of washing machine - there's a dishwasher, but honestly, a washing machine would be WAY more useful for guests in future.
There are a few nails half hanging out of walls, the furniture is very eclectic and "shabby chic" which is very much my style, but it felt a little unfinished. Like it was in the middle of being decorated.
No dressing table - the best place for me to do makeup was sat on the floor in front of the big mirror, not ideal!
The first few days of our stay were exceptionally warm and the apartment doesn't have any electric fans. Luckily I brought a small one from home, which took the edge of the heat at night in the bedroom, but didn't do much in the big room. This meant having to have the windows open which meant significant noise levels, even at night.
- Judith (7/5): Spacious, centrally located, very reasonably priced apartment with lovely views. - Spacious apartment, light & airy with large bedrooms, great views across to main parkland. Centrally located in main town centre. Management were very responsive - there was an issue with hot water & they responded immediately. No lockbox - we didn't wait long, however, had to wait for key handover from managers. Car parking was free, but very confusing! Another concern would be the safety of this location at night. The apartment is situated across from a central park where vagrants hang out in the evening. My sister was approached by two young men walking back to the apartment on her own in the early evening (still daylight), this was quite distressing for her. Kitchen was in bad need of renovation and wasn't too clean (dirty oven).
- Juanna (10/5): Will stay again! - A beautiful apartment, exactly as shown in pictures in central location, shops and cafes just a few steps away. Parking is provided, right in front of the unit.
Jon who met us during checking in, was really helpful. -nil-
- Bola (10/5): Exceptional - Communicating with the host was quite pleasant , and the location was excellent; close to the train station and the venue of the graduation we attended. Very convenient to get to, and right in the town centre near coffee shops and restaurants. The property is spacious, clean and has great views I was under the impression that tea, coffee, and water is provided by the host, but then, this is my first time of using Airbnb in the UK, so I'm not sure of the practice. In all other countries I have been, this has always been the case. We had milk in the fridge though, but I had to go buy some teabags
- Kerry (7/5): Potential to be amazing but needs an update. - The location was perfect for a trip to the opera house and a walk round Buxton. Apartment is in a great position to explore the area and is large and spacious. Comfy beds and crisp linens. You can park to the side of the apartment. Host was friendly and welcoming. The property needs some TLC in the entrance area which is dark and there are lots of stairs to climb to access the apartment which was difficult for one of the party with limited mobility. The living area has great views across the park with huge windows and a beautiful fireplace but it feels quite tired and a bit "thrown together with mismatched furniture" , curtains not fully covering windows and mismatched. It would benefit from refurbishment to the kitchen area, flooring needs replacing and furniture is tired and needs upcycling.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (9/5): Superb -
- Barbara (9/5): Wonderful time, we will be back - Location comfort Stairs are not for the faint hearted
- Elizabeth (5/5): It was a little disappointing but the apartment was clean and comfortable. - The location was lovely. The quality of the equipment was rather poor. The lack of a teapot or coffee making was a shame. A baking sheet and oven gloves would have been beneficial. The design of the kitchen was poor. The cutlery drawer knocked against the oven handle thus it couldn’t be opened easily.
- Riley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (8/5): Our stay was comfortable despite lack of items in the kitchen. The host was very easy to contact. Apartment was large an - Firstly the location was perfect
The size of the apartment was great Lack of kitchen items
No serving dishes/cutlery
4 of most things is a little mean
No oven trays
- Andrea (6/5): Overall ok but oven really let - Location was excellent and owners were very good Kitchen cupboards need a clean and oven was very dirty also entrance could do with a spruce up
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Lovely apartment, great location, fab shower Sadly no baking tray or grill pan for oven
- Laura (7/5): Lovely apartment in the centre of Buxton, kitchen could be better - Location in the centre with parking Kitchen missing items I.e glasses, baking trays for oven. Kitchen could also do with a good clean
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicky (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (5/5): Ok - The spacious apartment The lack of cutlery and crockery, dishwasher didn’t work, mattress poor and beds too small
- Giulio (7/5): Vary spacious lounge with dual aspect and ideal for a short stay with shops and restaurants at hand - We catered our own breakfast and location of property was great. Entrance to property shabby and needed redecoration. Beautiful bathroom but nowhere to hang towels also kitchen could do with refurbishing,
- Erica (9/5): Superb -
- Joshua (9/5): Great flat in amazing location. Good host. Great value - The location Fire needed cleaning out. Couldn’t get the Bathroom radiator to work.
- Susan (8/5): Very good stay - Second bedside cabinets few touches, but otherwise very pleased bathroom beautiful differently stay again Sue
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (1/5): Bad - We did not stay as the property was so bad The entrance hall was dark damp and was in need of a good clean and a lick of paint
- Mark (10/5): Excellent apartment - Great central location, 2 great bedrooms, spacious kitchen lounge and a lovely shower. Very responsive and helpful hosts. Would thoroughly recommend. A very minor thing, the wireless reception didn’t reach the bedroom
- Rebecca (9/5): A comfortable stay in a great location with fabulous hosts. - A gorgeous living space and a new modernised bathroom. A really comfortable sleep. Super helpful hosts! Suited our trip perfectly. A gorgeous property but still a work in progress I think - the bedrooms are a bit dated compared to the rest of the property, and some ‘homely touches’ like sofa cushions would have been nice. Steep steps up to the property too - this one can’t be helped and wasn’t a problem for us, but could be an issue for others if they aren’t expecting it!
- Lynn (8/5): Very good - Fabulous apartment, very cosy & comfy beds in large bedrooms. Great location for a visit to Buxton, right at the top of High Street. Noise from other apartments & outside noises, but the middle bedroom is much quieter. The master bedroom is gorgeous, but not if you're a light sleeper.
- Claire (8/5): Very good - Great location and spacious apartment. The kitchen was lacking a few things e.g. a baking tray would have been useful for the oven. Maybe salt and pepper could be provided too.
- Paul (9/5): All good thank you - Great location
- Jim (10/5): A stay to capture the essence of Buxton. - Exquisite central location. Vast, spacious rooms. Excellent bathroom. Wonderful second floor aspect on the town with views of the Royal Devonshire Hospital and Crescent. Very helpful staff! Nothing. All good.
- Kirsty (10/5): Exceptional - Location and space was incredible. Bathroom was exceptional Road noise. But not the fault of the owner.
- Cheniece (10/5): Generally had a great stay in this apartment - Loved the location, friendly owner, great open plan space with spacious rooms and modern bathroom. As we were staying in and cooking a few more cooking essentials would have been appreciated.
- Sharon (7/5): We enjoyed the central location of the property and it was warm and comfortable. - It was a very central location, warm and comfortable The equipment in the kitchen was very minimal. The entrance way and stairs wasn’t appealing, looked dirty and rickety.
- Louise (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. Beautiful building. In process of being done up. No microwave. Not enough pillows on beds.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - We really like the apartment it was warm , and the owner was lovely and asked if we needed anything they only live 5 mins away. The location is great and next to the town centre. It's great to get all you need. Nothing
- Nathan (10/5): Extremely spacious property with comfortable beds. Great location within Buxton too - Extremely spacious property with comfortable beds. Great location within Buxton too Nothing to complain about
- Rachel (6/5): Flat is a work in progress - Central location
Milk provided
Modern bathroom No cushions or throws on settee
No frying pan
No plug in sink
Saucepans needed a good scrub
