Guest Reviews
- Aparna (9/5): Comfortable and easy - Great location Everything was perfect. My only issue was that the kitchen utensils cabinet was quite high up and I am a short person! It was difficult to access it!
- Joanne (9/5): Fantastically situated. Clean, pleasant , everything you need for an exploring st.Ives holiday. - Location is amazing. Top
Of the road and it’s ‘ pick a beach ‘. Fab restaurants and cafes and the famous sloop pub / harbour within 5 mins walking distance. Kitchen was fabulously laid out and modern. Place was clean and comfortable. Everything what you need really. The property can’t help this but residents upstairs - you can hear everything and it felt like they were matching above. Additionally when they put their washer or dryer on - the wardrobe cupboard door in Netherton makes very loud noises. You have to open the door to stop it. Also the middle support beams for the bed look damaged. It didn’t cause a problem but it looks like it could break easily.
- Cathy (9/5): Comfortable/good location/too expensive for us to park the car - Great location near to beaches and shops/restuarantsFlowers were a nice touch Shower was great but a little small
Would have been good to have a dressing table(to be able to sit down while doing hair)
Bed comfy(pillows kept slipping between the wooden slats
Very difficult to park the car and very expensive
- Jess (10/5): Brilliant stay, very straight forward check in, will be retuning next year for another week - The excellent location to the beaches and the harbor, better than the pictures show as it’s had a new kitchen fitted which really modernizes the property Bathroom slightly dated but does the job so can’t complain
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Danielle (4/5): Description and pricing should be adjusted to reflect conditions in property - Location for the town and beach is excellent. Heating works well. Kitchen has most things you would need. Property smelled like dirty mop water upon arrival and took a long time to clear. Rug had not been vacuumed properly.
The property has very poor ventilation - window in the bathroom does not open (not meant to) and kitchen window not reachable without climbing on kitchen counter meaning best/only easy way to let air in is the front door. The property feels and smells damp - there are two dehumidifier boxes in the property and paint is peeling from the walls in several places.
The property is described as a 'One-bedroom House' in part of the listing on booking.com and as having 'one bedroom' in another - this is not the case; it is a studio and should be listed as such.
The sink in the bathroom is exceptionally small and the placement of the shelf above it makes it unusable for all but handwashing - try bending down to clean your teeth or wash your face and you will hit your head on the shelf.
- Jonathan (8/5): Apart from the parking faff, we had a fantastic time. The property is basic but does the job for a short break. Very con - Cute. Convenient location for beaches, shops, facilities - all short walking distance with the exception of car park. Dark (very little natural sunlight hits Island Road), a little dated and tired looking in terms of furniture/decor. Noise from holiday flat above. Shelf over bathroom sink makes it awkward to have a wash/clean teeth. No oven gloves and a couple of kitchen utensils not provided. Would be nice if it had a small sofa. No “welcome” treats such as biscuits or tea or coffee (most places I stay leave you these items)
It would also be nice if info regarding car parking was a little more honest & informative. Yes, there is a car park 50 yards away, but during our stay it was 100% full all of the time. We parked in Porthmeor Beach car park on the first night so we only had a 7 minute walk with our things. This is a short stay car park during the day, so next morning I had to move my vehicle to a long stay - next nearest was also 100% full. Ended up having to park in the main town car park, a 25 minute hilly walk away. This meant on check out day I had to move my vehicle back to the short stay very early in the morning to ensure there was a space. Also roads in town, especially near the property, are extremely tight and narrow. (All adds to the charm of St Ives, but if you’ve never been before, makes driving a challenge!)
So, future visitors, be prepared for a bit of faff upon arrival & departure regarding parking and getting your things to the property - travel light!
- Stephen (10/5): It was a lovely break for me and my wife to get away the only thing i would say is the phone reception is not great but - The property was nice and cozy and very close to all the shops and bars but more importantly the beaches There was nothing not to like
- Paul (7/5): st ives was beautiful , location great, car park short walk away , as was most beaches and bars/ restaurants - location , well equipped kitchen , clean bedding bathroom needs facelift , sink and shelve above need rearranging could do with paint and resealing the shower , bed very flimsy worried it might collapse , dining chair seat pads need cleaning , sound proof the ceiling it was like a marching band from upstairs ! no outside space ( our fault for not checking )
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): cute cornish cottage, great location for exploring St. Ives, friendly people, nice shops, grocers. - the kitchen was well laid out modern stove, washer-dryer unit conveinent, living area laid out nice, good heat, dutch door is nice touch. The upper unit when occupied is noisy. Better instructions for the washer/dryer, the boiler unit was in fault mode and had to figure out how too correct, not easy after day long travel. A better venting fan would keep moisture levels lower (two people, shower, wet rain coats, cooking).
- Sarah (7/5): It was a good stay - Location Uncomfortable bed
Chairs not relaxing
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Very central for beaches and shops No sofa only wicker chairs.
- Graham (8/5): Comfortable and convenient for beach and town - Two minutes from the harbour, five from the town. If you like St Ives, the location is ideal. Nearby car parking is a huge bonus. The upstairs flat clearly also has a wooden floor. It means you can hear every crash, bang and footstep. It was the only thing I didn’t like about the accommodation.
