Guest Reviews
- Maaike (10/5): Amazing!!! - The lovely view, amazing living room and the paper workshop were amazing! A truly unforgettable part of our holiday and can't recommend it enough
- Silvan (10/5): - Amazing beautiful space, Chika and her family are extremely accommodating and welcoming. Cute cats too

- Nicole (10/5): Chika and her family were very kind. This stay was the highlight of our entire trip to Japan because of the coziness and - The building interior was cozy, had beautiful details made by the hosts, and was located in a very serene landscape
- Benjamin (10/5): Superb stay with amazing washi paper experience - Just amazing, from host to location, rooms and kitchen. Instantly regretted staying only one night…
- Louise (10/5): Relaxing stay at Washi Studio - Chika was a great host. She welcomed us with tea and a homemade sweet. The kitchen was superb, plenty of room and a great view. The narrow windy roads on the way to Kamikoya required somw concentration.

- Amanda (10/5): Beautiful guesthouse in the mountains of Yusuhara - A cute guesthouse in the mountains above a washi paper studio. We slept great on tatami mats with the sounds of the mountains putting us to sleep. The property is very clean - good hot shower with decent pressure- shamppoo/soap provided. Toilet is a manual spray/flush toilet but we had no issues. Wish we could have stayed longer! We did the washi paper making with the owners son which was such a fun learning experience. It was a bit pricy as its a standard price for up to 5 people but definitely worth it. We did the class upon arrival, and they will send us the finished product about a week later. The kitchen is outdoors and has the best cooking views. Everything is thoughtfully labelled out for ease of use! We wish we could have stayed longer to explore the area parking is a little narrow but wasn't a problem for us!
- Kathrin (9/5): - Beeindruckende Natur, richtig abgelegen. Nichts.
- Katrina (10/5): - We loved our stay at Kamikoya. Our rooms were beautiful and the view together with the sounds of the stream and the insects outside our window was magical. We barbequed indoors and that was a great experience. We also had the Washi workshop which was fantastic and a great experience to do as a family. The nearby town of Yusuhara has some remarkable architecture and good places to eat and the nature in the area is breathtaking.
- Doris (10/5): Stunning location, great rooms and delightful hosts. Thank you! - Stunning setting in the midst of Shikoku’s beautiful lush hills. Chika and her family were very attentive. Welcoming us with a home made pie and tea with self grown ingredients. Washi paper workshop was very educational and also artistically inspiring, picking leaves and flowers from their beautiful garden to use for our washi paper. Accoomodation was spacious and charming in the authentic style with carefully placed washi paper elements in door screens and lamp shades. The family room had gorgeous views as does the big kitchen.

- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - An amazing home stay in the beautiful surroundings paired with a great washi paper workshop that was one of our highlights of the trip to Japan. We loved the opportunity to use indoor bbq.
- Evelyn (10/5): Most beautiful guestroom ever! - The most beautiful guestroom we encountered so far! There are washi paper decorations everywhere and together with the warm hospitality and amazing green mountain view, it made us felt so calm and relaxed. You could even see the milky way at night! Everything was super clean and all amenities were available. We also did a short course on washi paper making, which was so interesting and fun to do! It was such a shame we couldn’t stay longer.
- Monica (10/5): amazing!! - the retreat in the mountain coupled with the amazing hospitality by the family made us felt like visiting old friends. the Japanese paper making workshop is highly recommended. you buy your own food in town (owner will tell u where to get the best beef and the location of the supermarket), then you can do bbq or hot pot or whatever you fancy. very authentic experience in the mountains. highly recommended nothing - a bit cold in the winter but that’s part of the experience! we went when the mountains got its first snow of the year
- Susanne (10/5): Interesting paper production activities in this beautifully decorated guest house - We brought the groceries for dinner up from the supermarket in Yusuhara and prepared it in the guesthouse. There are no shops nearby - best to prepare in advance and make sure you have what you need. A delicious breakfast was provided and waiting for us in the fridge when we got up in the morning. We prepared the eggs and enjoyed everything with the fresh-baked bread.
- Yikeat (10/5): Exceptional - It's the highlight of this trip to Japan. We enjoyed the paper making experience, the place and property. Dinner is not provided but you can bring your own food/meat to BBQ in the gorgeous outdoor kitchen. The view in the morning is unbelievable. Thank you for hosting us! :) nil
- Philipp (10/5): One of the best experiences in Japan! -
- Tobias (10/5): Exceptional - The place is beautiful, both the location, giving you a great view of the valley and the property itself. It's decorated with art made at the washi studio.
- Runyu (10/5): A perfect stay! - It is perfect and definitely the best one I have stayed in Japan. though a bit hard to find, the host is so friendly and helpful, and the house is a masterpiece itself . We hope we could have stayed longer next time and take the paper making workshop. The house also has two cats who are super cute!!! Nothing!
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Mad (10/5): Exceptional - everything is perfect nope :)
