Guest Reviews
- Kristen (10/5): - I just stayed here for the third time, and I am always happy to come back! This is a family run hotel, which makes for a nice and welcoming atmosphere. The location can't be beat - very close to the Patan darbar square, but in a quiet square with little traffic, so you are more likely to hear children playing than motorbikes driving. The breakfast is also really nice, and it's great to start the day on the rooftop relaxing over coffee and breakfast!
- Henkel (9/5): - The location, the hotel and the Lumbini team were really good. Just short distances to the main temples, but away enough from all the noise. We were helped by the hotel owner a great deal with taxis, which makes a difference. I would have loved to stay longer... leaving was not easy.
- Heiner (10/5): Lumbini Heritage Home is a small, historic and wonderfully quiet guesthouse in a lively Kathmandu neighborhood, surround - Lumbini Heritage Home is a beautiful historic house tucked away in a quiet corner of a lively Kathmandu neighborhood, surrounded by monasteries and just a short walk from the major UNESCO World Heritage site. With only a few rooms, it feels intimate, personal, and very authentic – simple, but full of character and atmosphere. I felt at home from the very first moment; it was my first stop in Nepal, and I immediately thought: “I want to come back here.” Having breakfast on the rooftop terrace is a real highlight, with a relaxed view over the area and a peaceful start to the day. Because the guesthouse is so small, the service is very individual and attentive, which makes the stay even more special. Nepal is a wonderful country with great people, and Lumbini Heritage Home was an indescribably beautiful beginning to my journey – a place I can fully recommend and would gladly return to.
- Mark (10/5): - Very well located, comfy bed and very kind and helpful hosts.
- Brigitte (10/5): - Very helpful and friendly !
Pickup at the Airport at midnight!!!
Very tasty breakfast in the mornig in the sunshine on the rooftop.
Thanks a lot.
Location 5 min. walk to all the beautiful tempels....!
- Alistair (8/5): - Clean and well located with helpful staff. Felt like part of the local community. The shower was hard to adjust to get warm water. Often very hot or cool.
- REMI (9/5): On reviendra - Le calme, la propreté et la qualité du personnel très accueillant
- Gregory (10/5): Just go ! - Charming hotel well located . Clean , the staff is adorable and always happy to help you . Nice breakfast too . Nothing
Nichts
- RC (8/5): Owners and staff are really lovely, great view from the rooftop. loved it and ill be back!! - owner and everyone that works there are really kind and friendly. had a great chat and they gave me some pretty good recommendations. lovely view from the rooftop, relatively quiet street side but you may need earplugs and eye mask due to the street lights.
Breakfast was a choice, pancakes, toast and eggs etc. + a lovely array of fruit to finish up.
The building is 100yrs old, so dont expect something its not. I know some folk will complain about the shower being in the bathroom with the toilet (all open i.e no screen), but this isnt unusual throughout Asia. Its not a big deal, you're in a foreign country and that's how it is in older buildings. Personally it doesn't bother me.
Area is close enough to everything in the area and its pretty quiet. Minutes walk to the square. my only suggestion is to have blackout curtains on those rooms which are street side. and to fix the buzzer at the front door.

- Claire (10/5): Beautiful house in a quiet part of Pātan - I loved staying at Lumbini, it’s really a home! Beautiful property, rooms and rooftop. The staff are great, super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, so much fresh fruit! 🥰 A nice, quiet spot in Pātan also.
- Jonathan (9/5): Great value and location, family-run, not to mention super friendly staff. - We could not have received a better welcome to Kathmandu! Aman, family, and staff were warm and super helpful. Fantastic location near Patan Durbar Square—5-minute walk—quiet location, less hectic than Thamel. The hotel breakfast on the rooftop was an excellent way to start the day—highly recommend the masala tea with milk. We had a great experience here and would book again. Thank you, Aman!
- Kristen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rupak (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liza (10/5): Great stay in the center of Patan - Stylish and clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and tasty breakfast. Also great location in the historic center of Patan. All perfect
- Clark (8/5): Very good - Great value for the money. Good authentic food and the staff are helpful and really friendly.
- Ilija (7/5): Great location for exploring historic Patan area. - Great location of the Hotel in the historic part of town. Great public open space in front of the building - so lots of sun at rooms that is great.
- Ramindra (10/5): Beautiful - Lovely and clean
- Christian (9/5): Simplicity is the key to happiness! Our trip was magnificent! - The breakfast was simple but simplicity is perfection.
Lot of black tea and coffee, fresh fruits, eggs, bread. Everything you need to start your perfect day.
From the roof top you oversee the Nagbhahal square and it's beautiful chörtens, shrines and you may see the mountains. The team provide you with everything you need and they are indeed very kind.
If you need a taxi to go to different places in the kathmandu valley they order a taxi driver for you. The cabbies staying with you until your sightseeing is over and they drive you back to the guest house. So you don't need to negotiate with other taxi drivers.
From the guest house you may reach the magnificent hiranya varna mahavihar (Golden Temple of Patan) in a 4 minute walk.
A place you should visit. The Durbar Square of Patan is easy to reach too. The Guest House is an old newari House and not very soundproof. All in all it's not a problem, but we had the experience of some rude guests who were very loud at night. The hotel staff is not to blame; for some people he rule of being quiet after 10 p.m. is difficult to understand. I don't know why.
- Yannik (9/5): Nice heritage style, good breakfast on the rooftop -
- Wolfgang (9/5): Felt like staying with family in a big city! - The staff was great! Super friendly and helpful/accommodating. They stored our luggage for us while we went on a trek and had it waiting in our room upon our return. They always made sure we had breakfast (which was very tasty and on the roof!) The water heating system for the shower was a little unstable, but we were happy to have hot water! While we picked the hotel due to it's location outside of the main part of the city, it was located in a small square that was utilized by the neighborhood and could be a little noisy during certain times.
- Ursula (1/5): Bad - The area is good. The terrace is nice. Good bed. The shower was not working. They said the house is old so this can happen. Not interested to help me.
People were not very friendly. So I moved out after one night.
- Jesper (10/5): Wonderful stay in the heart of Patan - Staff was very helpful and generous! They provided every help we needed. Rooms are spacious and traditionally decorated. Location and breakfast are good. Room floors could be somewhat cleaner.
- Lukáš (9/5): totally recommend when you want to stay close to patan square. - great terrace, great food, great traditional locality. nice guest with very nice rooms and especially the beds were fabulous and comfortable! facilities weren’t the best but overall did the job
- Mountain (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (8/5): Truly amazing and accommodating staff. Breakfast was also excellent -
- Pearl (8/5): Comfortable Stay in Patan - Host and team are very hospitable and make my stay extremely comfortable. Esther is an excellent cook and breakfast is always well executed. Staff and service are nothing to be complained about. Location is central to most things and near my work. N/A
- Preeti (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Tashaffi (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (10/5): Fantastic place to stay that has it all- place, price, warmth and charm! - Great place with lots of old charm on a beautiful square and right in the middle of the sites and sounds of Patan. Amazing home cooked breakfasts on the rooftop with a gorgeous view. The tour of hidden Patan was a huge bonus. A minor quibble- kettles in the room would be a nice addition.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff, perfect location in Patan, and the breakfast on the roof overlooking the square was wonderful.
- Enrique (10/5): Arrive as a tourist, leave as a friend. - The staff are simply great. Very willing to help and proactive.
Breakfast every morning with them was a great way to start the day.
The location is outstanding, and rooms quite to sleep at night. The hotel is really good, if they keep this level of quality there ain’t much you can improve.
- Bruno (10/5): Excellent choice! - The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean, quite big and cozy. The rooftop breakfast was very tasty and abundant. All and all, an excellent choice for our stay!
- Thomas (9/5): Excellent stay! Great location, great breakfast and amazing staff! I highly recommend it. - The staff was excellent, very friendly and helped me with all my last minute requests!
- Sabrina (10/5): patan in lumbini hotel - Clean hotel, very tastefully decorated.
Very spacious room and the staff make
you feel at home.
It is located in a square/court,
consequently it is very quiet
Excellent breakfast!
