Guest Reviews
- Cedar (8/5): Fantastic. I'd stay here again if I ever find myself in Taganga! - A very convenient place to stay in Taganga. The hosts are amazing, and super friendly and accommodating! Basic but decent breakfast. Access to the kitchen so I could cook my own food was great! The location in town can be a bit noisy. Neighbours partying late into the night and roosters crowing.
- Riko (7/5): - The staff is nice and the hostel is quiet and safe. The bed was comfortable and they have some nice cmmon areas. The location is in an area that is not so nice, it is not dangerous but doesn‘t feel too pleasant to walk there either. It is actually in Taganga, which is not part of Santa Marta, as I had thought, but not far away either, maybe 10 minutes by bus. Taganga is a bit touristy. If you like the beach, it will be a perfect place. Someone smoked in the hostel so the dorms sometimes smelt of cigarette smoke, which was a bit disgusting.
- Emily (10/5): - Our stay at the Macabi Hostel in Taganga Was amazing! This is such a nice place and the staff was super friendly, kind and helpful! And the kitchen and outdoor area were so beautiful!! We will come back, thank you very much!

- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing breakfast! Homely atmosphere
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The owner of the hostel is so so kind! You really do feel like you are staying in a home. She made me so welcome on my first stay I had to come back! Really loved this place
- Timo (9/5): Perfect get away. - Beautiful Personal and friendly vibe. Great people, cute village.
- Tom (10/5): Amazing! - The people were so nice. It felt like staying at a family.
- Jaego (10/5): Exceptional - Really good location and truly lovely host, would absolutely recommend, on the quieter side of Taganga but that was ideal for us, very clean space nice rooms and great kitchen
- Scott (8/5): I would stay again, a good value - This is run by an helpful family. Inside it is peaceful with modern, clean facilities. Less than 150 meters to the beach. Nice hammocks on the upper deck for resting. This is a nice place to base out of for Taganga area activities. The breakfasts were excellent.a No view of water
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional - Dora, the owner is a sweetheart, It fells like I was in my mothers house
- Philip (10/5): Extremely kind - If you want to stay in Taganga, this is a great location and great value. The hosts are extremely welcoming and kind. They let me check in in the morning after the night I had reserved and allowed me to sleep as much as I wanted. They cooked a complimentary lunch for all the guests. They organized a boat tour for the quests the following day. It felt more like staying with family than a hostel! Booking.com showed the location in a different town (Pedcaito) so I was looking for it and couldn’t get to the hostel until the morning
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - It felt just like home, thanks to the incredibly welcoming owners. A place with great energy.
- Roy (9/5): Great! - Comfortable beds. Freshly made breakfast in the morning with great juices freshly made everytime. Super friendly staff and owner who take great care of you and will help you if you need anything. Wi-fi is working 99% of the time. A few minutes walk from the center/beach. Neighbours can sometimes be extremely loud in the night/mornings.
- Roy (9/5): Awesome. - After staying here once, I came back for a different time because the staff was so nice and in general I had a really good time. Hammocks on the first floor are great as well. Nosy neighbours, but it was during carnaval, sommight be better normally.
- Sarah (10/5): A locals homestay experience - What an amazing experience, somewhere between Hostel and Homestay. The location is quiet and off the beaten path, yet barely a 5 minute walk to the main beach. I was welcomed in by name at the door (there were no other guests expected to check in that night). I was working while there and would be regularly offered whatever juice of the moment the family was making, ginger tea, to join then for lunch, etc. they wee understanding that I was working for many hours throughout the day and offered me a personal fan, moved a table around and whatnot to accomodate offering me an outdoor workspace even though there was one in my room. The place was spotless and the private room I upgraded to had four pillows on the bed, I hadn't been so comfortable in all my weeks in Columbia! The hammocks and chill space was perfectly spacious, with a quiet option on the rear balcony away from others with a view of the mountains. The hosts set me up with a local guide Pocho for a swim and fishing walkabout through the mountains, he was a naturopath and offered a massage and treating my injured knee. The whole experience was a blessing. The restaurant suggestion was so spot on that I went there for every dinner and wish that there was such a well priced option in the other cities I visited. Im so grateful my AirBNB fell through and that I landed here instead!! The wifi was spotty a few times but literally nothing else negative to say. This isn't a party hostel if that's what you're looking for.
- Corentin (8/5): Very good -
