Huge and spacious, very warming. We only stayed the night as we were out early the next morning. Wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be returning.
Loved the extra touch of the children's play area. Shower wasn't as powerful as I'd like (long curly hair problems) but it wasn't an issue and certainly didn't affect our stay.
- Charlotte (10/5): Purrfect 🐈⬛ - Location. Secrecy of it. The level of accommodation. The host. Nothing. Leaving!
- Phillip (8/5): Yes served its purpose and good value for the money. - Everything you need on site
Gated property secure parking
Lovely location especially in summer It was a cold rainy day in February so the heating wasn’t very efficient but there is a wood burner for longer stays.

- Debharvey (7/5): Good - It ticked the box. Essentials all there to meet needs. Lovely location if you like horses! Not in the best state of repair but reasonably clean.
- Olive (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Spotless very quiet and relaxing loved the wood burner
- Emma (8/5): Lovely little cabin, very relaxing. - Clean, confortable and peaceful. Was lovely seeing the horses, donkeys and sheep as well! Just a short drive to Nottingham and a great pub close by too (the unicorn) Everything was fine.
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Pretty much everything
Found the mattress a bit uncomfortable
- Nicola (10/5): Beautiful area, lovely property and very helpful owner - Perfect for us. Quiet location and clean.
- Adrian (9/5): Superb - Parking for a couple of vehicles. The property is nice and comfortable with a large seating/living area fast WiFi and large screen TV.
- Helen (9/5): Fantastic break for any horse and countryside lovers - I loved the fact that they had a little playroom for the children which had a play kitchen, games and books. There was also a conservatory area where you could sit and watch the horses being looked after in the stables. This is a fantastic place to stay for any horse lovers. The kitchen was beautiful and well equipped. the log stove kept the cabin lovely and warm Nothing
- Sophie (8/5): Comfortable, pleasant stay - Clear communication with owners
Quiet rural location
Lovely, spacious, attractive property
Kitchen well-equipped so you could actually cook if you were there long enough
Wood burner was a bonus (If you’re planning to stay here in winter and haven’t used one before I would highly recommend researching how to use one as we found the cabin a little chilly until we had a fire going) The shower - the water pressure is a bit feeble and the water temperature wandered around a lot for the first few minutes of running it
No safety rail on the steps leading up to the cabin
The main bedroom would benefit from an extension cable to allow both visitors to have a bedside light and to charge their phone overnight
Finally, this is not a criticism of the property as I should have looked at the photos more clearly when booking, but in case it helps people to plan - this is not an ideal place to stay with a baby as neither bedroom can accommodate a travel cot without rearranging the furniture, and even then it’s a squeeze!
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Lovely quiet location. Would have been very cosy if we could have used the woodburner Couldn't use the woodburner as it was full of Ash which was a shame . Oven needed a good clean.
- Adam (10/5): Lovely little farm lodge - Lovely property fully heated on arrival
Perfect for our work stay
- Mccrossan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional - It was like a home away from home!
- Irene (8/5): Peaceful, comfortable and enjoyable. - We had our own breakfast but facilities for cooking were good. It is spacious and clean. Lovely to look out on horses and donkeys. Lovely private area so quiet and peaceful. Near to visiting our friend. Rail needed on front step, I wouldn’t have managed on my own which I might like to do in the future. A small table in the main area to put drink on would be handy. Also in the second bedroom and side lamps in bedrooms.Shower a bit old. These are minor things apart from having a rail by the steps which I think is essential. A clearer signature the opening would be helpful but can understand if not wanting to advertise too much. Gate a little awkward and instructions on exactly where the property is would be helpful ie between caravan sites. Would have liked to have said hello to owner too. Overall very good though.
- Brendan (7/5): Good - Nice woodburner, heated the place very quickly Poor hot water pressure: dribbly shower at best
- Pedlar (10/5): It was lovely to wake up, watching the horses in the field - Spacious and clean
- Danby (6/5): Pleasant - Spacious, large TV, nice shower The second bed was VERY noisy
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krystle (7/5): Good -
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): peaceful stay - spacious. lovely surroundings. peaceful. nothing
- Desmond (10/5): Loved the stay! Highly recommend - The cabin is spacious and was a much needed break from dull hotel rooms with no kitchen areas. Make sure to message the host for gate access on the day. Nothing!
- Sarah_fursdon (5/5): Great quiet location, but unreliable shower facilites - The Arkenfield cabin is in a great location to Southwell and Hoveringham (the two places we needed) and comes with plenty of secure parking.
The host was helpful and easy to contact.
Pros:
The shared living space is very spacious and comes with fridge, oven, microwave and toaster.
There are two bedrooms with lots of storage.
There's a kids playroom which our 1 year old loved.
Lots of horses and donkeys to walk around and see. Cons:
On first appearance seems clean, but on closer inspection the whole place could do with a deep clean as was a bit grubby.
The shower was unreliable. The pressure was weak and the hot water would come and go. Not a problem if you like a cold shower 😜
Not enough power points near mirrors. We were there for a wedding so this would have been helpful.
- Simon (9/5): Lovely - All good
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Miroslava (10/5): Exceptional - The farm and the views. The cabin itself. The bed in the smaller room.
- Graham (8/5): Perfect accommodation for what the three of us needed. - The area. Privacy. No close properties, so not overlooked. Rural. Nearby Indian Restaurant. Proximity to Southwell Minster. Everything was fine - even the early morning start of the ladies looking after the horses in adjacent stables.
- Szymon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (8/5): Very satisfactory. No frills. - Location - good. nice - countryside.
Quiet.
Spacious living area.
- Dr (8/5): Friendly helpful host, comfortable property, very clean cabin, and quiet location - Only improvement would be to be told entry code before arrival, better communication in advance of exactly how to get in would be good. Contacted host on arrival and they gave us the code, but did panic when we got there and couldn’t figure how to get in. Nothing, all great
- Zeyad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassie (9/5): clean, comfortable, value for money - Absolutely perfect for our overnight stay in Nottingham. We had a 2 day tournament at the university and needed somewhere to stay for a family. This was everything we needed. Clean, comfortable, and lovely location within stables with horses and donkeys - just a shame we weren’t there long as we checked in late and checked out early. The Railway local pub was down the road and did fantastic food for dinner although we could have cooked in the cabin but were shattered after a long day. Was even able to put on a quick wash in the machine for our daughter’s match kit which was needed again for day two. 5 stars from us! Thank you couldn’t access Netflix / prime as wifi didn’t seem to connect even though there was the log in details. didn’t matter for us though as we all went to bed and weren’t there long enough.
- Georgina (8/5): Very good - Lovely open kitchen and living space so we could all relax together.
- Zoe (8/5): Overnight stop for a famly do in Southwell - Well appointed farm cabin with effective double glazing which cut down the sound of traffic on the main road considerably. A pleasant relaxation area outside with views across the fields The location details on booking.com are not that clear. Worth future travellers there looking at google maps and ensuring they make a turn into the -property opposite main street on the bypass. This is not fault of the owner - sat nav details are not precise enough
- Rupert (9/5): Well set up and great farm experience - Farm location is great. Plenty of space in the cabin Nothing
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional - Great hosts. Lovely place
- Hannah (9/5): It was restful and a lovely setting. -
- Brendan (9/5): Great property and great value worth fabulous access to animals. Loved it! - Clean property. Well equipped. literally backing onto the stables and horses but well soundproofed. Comfy beds too!
- Leanne (9/5): Good value and cosy - The accommodation is really cosy and a lot more spacious than the pictures give credit for. Would be really nice for a weekend break. It had a really homely feel and because it was slightly isolated there was no outside noise. The heating didn't work in one bedroom so it was a bit chilly however just using an extra blanket was fine and we didn't report this at the time so im sure they would've helped if we did.
- Jamie (9/5): Superb - Clean, comfortable, equipped with everything you needed for a great stay. Really loved the log burner. The host communication was good too. Not a major grumble, but the shower temperature was a little erratic, this could have been user error. The water pressure was a bit low also.
- Mia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Adrian (10/5): Amazing Relaxation. - Log burner was amazing, kai really enjoyed waking up to see the horses. I really liked the quietness and security of the property. Nothing.
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional - the horses!
- Elaine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linzi (10/5): A little gem of a property - Stayed for one night and found the accommodation had everything we needed. Large open plan living/kitchen area, comfortable beds and nice hot shower. Would recommend this property, which was near to Southwell and a visit to the Workhouse National trust a must.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
