Guest Reviews
- quentin (1/5): - La propriétaire brille par son absence et ses accusations gratuite de casser sa machine à laver.
La propreté laisse à désirer.
- IEUFAKA (10/5): Rarotonga - where hospitality is foremost - Family style atmosphere. Great location̈. Safe and secure environment. Resulting in my first visit to Rarotonga to being enjoyable with being able to not worry about a comfortable place to stay. Trying to forget of the upcoming departure date out of the Cook Islands. Instead to enjoy each moment on Rarotonga as it evolved. The South Pacific island pace, even for a short duration in one's life has been a unforgettable experience.

- Leo (10/5): - I had the whole house for myself. Both the beauty parlour girl and young teenager son stayed in their rooms.
External access to the single room The Single room gets water with rains.
- Tobias (6/5): - Close to Muri Beach and supermarket, not too far away from town. Cannot say much about the owners‘ hospitaly like others as they were abroad while I was there. Their teenage son and a lady from the spa who both lived there were kind, easy going, easy to talk to and to co-live with. The garden/outdoor areas need maintenance. A lot of trash (I think, e.g. rotten furniture, empty cans, single pieces of clothing, car equipment, unused electrical appliances, …) all over the place did not really match with the beautiful beachfront setting (which matters to me as a holiday maker) the house is situated in. Unfortunately.
- Ezgi Coban (10/5): - I don’t even have the words to explain how amazing everything was at this place. They were incredibly helpful from the very beginning, assisting with everything. They took me into town and to the airport, and constantly checked in to see if I needed anything. The views are stunning, and the facilities are more than enough. The kitchen has everything you could need as well.
Thank you so much for the unforgettable time.
- Xianyu (10/5): - Good location, friendly hosts😊
- Janet (5/5): -
- Florian (8/5): - Really nice and helpful hosts, I could store my luggage there for some hours and also get a shower. Fresh towel every day. Enough space under the doors to let the mud crabs in over night, so be prepared ;)
- Gunter (3/5): - Nichts Dreckige, heruntergekommene Unterkunft.
- Carl (7/5): Good -
- Victor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Persson (8/5): Gorgeous host and wonderful ambience. - Really friendly staff and delightful atmosphere.
Donna is a genuine and wonderful ❤️
It's peaceful, oceanfront and plenty of space to move around. I think the aesthetics could be improved. A bit of love into gardening and the outdoor settings for the guests.
- Inessa (10/5): Perfect stay! - Fantastic place that has exceeding all my expectations. First of all, Donna and Sam (the hosts) are amazing kind people. You really feel like part of the family. They go over and beyond to help and make sure you have a great stay.. They are so open, friendly and helpful. The house is right on the beach. Quiet, peaceful location where you can enjoy the sound of the ocean waves. The house is clean and spacious. Great place to cook but also close to cafes, restaurants and shops. Many guests come for a few nights but keep extending their stay because they love it here. I really did not want to leave. Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -

Everything was perfect! Felt like Homestay, comfy, lovely and relaxing. Local insiders and I would definitely recommend the place!
I’m so thankful to spend time together with her. Loved it! She showed/teached us so many things about the island. Great experience 🧡hope we will see us again 🧡
- Mitja (10/5): Exceptional - The host Donna was the best! Thank you for everything.
- Damian (9/5): Superb -
- Toha (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (1/5): Vile Conditions, Deceptive Advertising, and Insulting Treatment: Avoid This Homestay at All Costs! - The moment I was finally out of this nightmare I strongly advise against staying at this property as it is filthy and you can expect to be met with vile insults!
At check-in, the owner was not on site, only the owner of the attached spa.
I was not given the room I booked on Booking. Instead, I was given a room without a balcony, without a desk, without a TV, and without a couch – all of which were in the community area and not in the room, which is misleading. In the room category, only the features that actually belong to the room should be shown. This was essential for my booking decision and constitutes deception.
In response to my complaint, I was offered a room from the owner, but it was filthy, and I was promised it would be cleaned the next day.
I contacted Booking at the same time, and the owner, who is in New Zealand, was informed – but no response was received for three days! Only after I submitted another request via Booking was I allowed to send pictures and videos to the landlord via WhatsApp.
But instead of apologizing for the catastrophic conditions or offering a solution, the owner responded with vile insults. I have always behaved respectfully, fairly, and appropriately – I simply asked for a basic cleaning of my room. But instead of a solution, I was immediately confronted by the owner in a rude and disrespectful manner. She insulted me severely, called me a Nazi, and wished me cancer!
This is not only beneath the belt but utterly malicious, despicable, and intolerable. I have forwarded the communication to Booking and the local tourism board and requested clarification.
Another guest, who was staying at the same time and also complained about the lack of cleanliness, was also insulted in a similar manner (see another bad review).
Here are the unacceptable conditions I encountered:
- Dirty bed linen: With stains and even gecko droppings, dead animals in the bed.
- Mold in the shower, sink area, and even in the soap dish.
- Jorge (10/5): Excellent value for money - I had a great time at Donna's accommodation. Everything was smooth from the beginning. The location was fantastic, and I was able to rent Donna's scooter during my four-day stay. She was incredibly kind and even invited me to join her and some friends for drinks on a Friday night. Excellent value for money.
- Dina (9/5): The owner is very kind - The view their is very beautiful
- Houston (9/5): Highly recommend great location and area of the island - Lovely cozy place best for solo great access to beautiful part of the beach and kitchen use if you like to cook
- Sprenger (6/5): The pictures in your ad were different, from what we found.our room to be. No cupboard space in our -
- Michaela (8/5): Intrepid journeys - Well, where do I start, hmmm
It was a bit frightening, no one was at the airport to pick me up (as arranged) and they couldn't be contacted, ended up on taxi, getting dropped off at location on a dark night, there was only one light on in the house and lucky there was another lady there or I would've really freaked out. It was not clear the instructions about finding my room........HOWEVER,
I had the best time. The staff I met eventually were lovely, the room had a bed, fan, table and chair. The kitchen facilities was ample, bathroom facilities were fine. The views were spectacular, saw whales swimming by as sitting outside watching sunset over the horizon. Scooter available for hire, wifi can be purchased at good rate.
Intrepid Journeys,
honored, privileged and grateful for a beautiful homecoming to Rarotonga, nga mihi
Aroha Sorry it is all written in one story,
nga mea pai, nga mea kare i te pai
- Ben (10/5): Tropical 🏝️ Paradise. - It was a Pleasure to be at MiriMiri Spa. The People were Lovely. The Place Is Lovely. A lot of love & care has gone into this Home Stay. You’re in Paradise. Literally the home is right on the beach. Beautiful Location. It’s a great place to stay at. Thank You very much for letting me stay here. :) Not applicable.
- Dimiter (8/5): Very good - Value for money homestay right at the sea shore, close to Muri beach. Any travellers' practical needs are being catered for - transfers, internet, washing ...
- Joseph (10/5): A wonderful experience from a wonderful host. - This little hidden gem was just what I needed to have a relaxing and peaceful trip.
The beach just outside was very secluded which was so lovely to have some privacy when you wanted it.
The property itself was clearly taken care of and respected by all guests,I was very comfortable staying here too.
My host Donna was just a bundle of joy and had a heart of gold making sure the guest experience was as good as can be.
10/10 place to stay on a beautiful island.
- Sadia (10/5): Exceptional - I loved my stay had a great short break from busy life.ideal location and best host
- Christine (10/5): Simple place in beautiful surrounding with family spirit - Donna and Sam have been extraordinarily kind, welcoming and helpful hosts.
They helped me staying longer on Rarotonga than originally planned, let me stay in their own house and found me an other accommodation with one of her friends.
Donna gave me lifts ino town and back and took good care of all her guests.
I loved Winnie the dog and the outside table where I had breakfast in the morning and sometimes a beer in the evening, watching the ocean and whales from time to time.
- Eleana (10/5): Exceptional - Value for money, friendly staff, convenient location.
- Hana (10/5): Would def choose to stay again if we ever came back to raro. - The view was superb and the staff was great everything we needed was right at our finger tips and just felt like home. Backpackers came and went had great conversations a memory id never forget. And the Manager always made sure we were fine.
- Antonia (10/5): Lovely guesthouse that makes you feel like you're home. - Donna and Sam are 2 wonderfull people that will take care of you like you're family! The place itself is nice, right by the beach but as many already said, this beach is not for swimming, only for admiring. You can maybe even spot some whales passing by! The organisation was a bit chaotic - when I arrived they told me they were overbooked, so they moved me into their own home (which was an upgrade, don't get me wrong!) Just be prepared that it might be hard to find either of them when you arrive.
- Cherry (9/5): The hosts Sam and Donna are very kind and helpful. - The location was so nice. So calming when you hear the sound of ocean waves while we having meals. Plus we are blessed freely seen the whales.
- Zoran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional - The host Sam was one of the most hospitable guys I've ever encountered while traveling. The location was perfect, the price was generous, and the room was comfortable and spacious. The place had a kitchen where you could cook or store food. The bathroom or toilet smelled a bit but the bathroom was cleaned or inspected every day.
- Moiza (7/5): Good -
- Turrecha (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (10/5): Family home stay - good laugh and full bellies! - I stayed here and came back when I returned to Raro. The aunties / staff, thank you so much for having me. Kind people, great seafront property - can watch the sunrise. The dogs, especially Queenie 🧡 Value for money. Thanks again, will stay here if I get the opportunity to return to Raro / Cook Islands 🇨🇰. Nothing springs to mind.
- William (10/5): Would definitely return - Sam was a brilliant host and went out of his way to welcome and accommodate my stay
- Kyuin (10/5): Exceptional - Myr is wonderful woman. I would like to appreciate her kindness and help. I really feel like home. Great Thanks!
- Covarrubias (10/5): Great place to stay. Great value. Would stay again. - The property was right on the beach. It had a beautiful view when you walk outside. The weather was stormy during my stay, but I imagine that if it wasn’t as windy and rainy, the beach would’ve been a beautiful place to hang out during the day.
Sam was an amazing host. He did his best to make sure that I knew where everything was. He even offered me a ride. He introduced me to some of his friends. Sam is an excellent host and wanted me to have the best time while I was in Rarotonga. If you don’t like a homestay or a hostel type of accommodation, then this place isn’t for you. But if you like meeting new people and sharing facilities, then you will be happy here. Make sure you get a car or a scooter so you can travel around the island.
- Jack (8/5): Enjoyable - Self-sufficient
Kind people
- Rob (5/5): Budget priced for a reason. - A pretty convenient location. No signage - you need to walk down a dirt track in hope of finding it, tiny rooms, one bathroom between all the rooms, very rocky beach.
- Mateus (10/5): Extremely relaxing! - Location was great, right in front of water and walking distance to Muri Beach where you can get paddle boards (and a lot more) and boat trips. Also has a Night Market with excellent food options. There's a little store across the street and a decent Mini Market/ Gas Station up the road. Not staying longer :)
- Tanya (8/5): A lovely welcome to the Cook Islands - Sam went out of his way to welcome us to the Cook Islands, to show us around and make sure we were comfortable and happy. What more could you ask for? The rooms are simple & great for the price. The property is on the water, about a half hour walk into the main part of town (Muri Lagoon). It was nice to meet other travellers in the kitchen as well.
- Miloš (2/5): Very poor - The location was ok. Mess everywhere, dirt, insects.
- Michael (9/5): Fantastic. A very memorable stay and good value! - Location good but a fairly long walk to the beach which suited me fine. Much further into town. Take local bus or scooter or car. However use of a bicycle which was a great bonus and was shared with other occupants. Sam and Donna were amazing giving rides, use of kitchen, generous and kind and super interesting person and family background. We had great conversations. I was fascinated by his family history, what he has done and accomplished and the tracing back of his royal Polynesian Maori heritage. Overall, a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed my stay and good value! Thank you Sam for being a great host! Instructions on finding the place. I was looking in Titikaveka in the south. Couldn't find it there. Actually in Nganttangiia northern border of Titikaveka and closer to Muri beach. Road is hard to find, Look for sign "Miri Miri Spa".
No swimming beach at property.
- James (10/5): Great host that makes you feel at home - Great location on the cooler windward side of the island
- Tuaine (10/5): A simple nice accomodation which suits someone wanting to experiencing local living - The owners were very accommodating and friendly None
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (9/5): Superb - Sam is a very friendly and helpful host in all matters! He really made me feel welcomed at home and offered his support very uncomplicatedly in divers situations.
The location is ideal - at the sea (one can watch the sunrise), near to the Muri beach (where a lot of stuff is going on), the night market and not far from the turtle snorkeling spot the companies go to.
- Benedikt (9/5): Superb - Sam, the host was super friendly and easy going. He took me on an around the island tour and also drop and picked me up at different spots
- Ayano (10/5): Exceptional -
- Skarenstedt (10/5): Wow - Hospitality and The Muribeach Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): I felt in family. - Sam and Donna were so kind, nice and warming. I really enjoyed my stay there, helping me in any question about Raro. Sam it's a super guied and told me about his history and island's.
I'm so thankful to be there and definitly I'm gonna come back. Any about the room but the transport in Raro is so bad. Sam help me to move anywhere but If he didn't, I don't know how I could move around there.
- Siosifa (6/5): Pleasant -
