Guest Reviews
- Anne (10/5): -
- Anne (10/5): - Very nice garden and beautiful palace.
- Dmehta (6/5): Disappointed - The Hotel needs proper maintenance and supervision to make this property class one A lot. Room maintenance, modernisation, personal attaention etc.
- Ramesh (10/5): - Stay was excellent. Everything was excellent
- Srikalyan (4/5): Wont recommend the stay - The setting of the hotel.
The location. The washrooms are age old. The flush has to be changed.
Bathtub is age old and seem to antique and lack comfort.
The restaurant stinks and the table cloths havent been changed in ages with blots and marks.
- Anne-Marie (10/5): - Beatiful place . Superb garden and nice staff. We enjoyed our stay
- Gillian (8/5): - Loved the lived in grandeur of the place. Our room was amazing. The fruit bats at night. It was an oasis of calm. Generally the staff were helpful. The electric in our room was unusual in that the bedside light was temperamental and the TV plugs made a funny noise and cut out now and again. However no fires, no shocks so must be ok.
Breakfast was limited.
Unimpressed with the taste of the evening offerings.
However would stay again. Food can eaten elsewhere, the right ambience is harder to find.

- Amanda (9/5): Comfortable, large and beautiful hotel with excellent service. - Our room was upgraded and it was a wonderfully large room with an added sitting room next door. The bed was a large 4 poster bed and super comfy.
The pool was closed on a Monday which was the day we wanted to use it so we had a word with the staff who opened it just for us.
We had very good reasonably priced food and the breakfast portions were very generous and delicious.
The area around the pool attracted a lot of birds including peacocks and bats at night. I can't think of anything to say that's negative.
- Kirit Chunilal (4/5): - Property needs renovation. Plumbing was not functional.
- Radhika (9/5): Perfect vacation place - Beautiful, cool All
Was good
- savy (10/5): - Royal stay with excellent staff, cuisine was also matching the place served with special treatment, felt like king. Nothing
- Nikita (5/5): - Dated old hotel. Breakfast is not displayed but staff brings as you ask them. Old and not upgraded.

- Apoorva (8/5): - The food, the service, the ambience and the historical artifacts, paintings etc. Needed more clarity on using the shooting range etc.
- Sumarida (10/5): ประทับใจอย่างมาก พนักงานอัธยาศัยดีมาก และให้คำปรึกษาที่ดี - ความสะอาด และ พนักงานใส่ใจ
- Reiniera (9/5): Memorable experience showing a lesser known face of India: prosperous, courteous and not a single tourist - Stepping into a fairy tale. If the 1001 nights would have been written in India, it would have been at Nilambag Palace. The Royal family who stills runs the palace, were one of the first to cease their principality to the newly formed Democratic Union of India in 1947. Nowadays the estate houses a school and their beautiful swimming pool is made into a public health club. Although the Palace breaths souvenirs of days gone by, modern hotel amenities are not lacking. The AC, double ceiling fans, hot water supply, WiFi, kettle and mini bar made our stay comfortable. Tea served in classic brass tea pots seated under a solemn veranda at antique tables with marble table tops, made an unforgettable impression. Special thanks to the welcoming staff members and for allowing us to use the pool at our own discretion. You’ve made the days we’ve spent in Bhavnagar into an unique experience. At first the regulated hours to order breakfast, lunch and dinner items from the menu and the restrictions placed on using the pool, made me uneasy. But I learned that the staff is flexible. The pool opening hours weren’t as restricted as was advertised and if it comes to eating times there’s something available at every moment of the day. Also Nilambag Palace serves an extensive non-vegetarian menu, which in the whole of Gujarat is a rare find

- Truc (8/5): Very good -
- Pranjal (9/5): Superb -
- Gopikumar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vandana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vandana (9/5): Superb - Flexible with chek out time.. appreciate it a lot. Good parking, giant pool, u can walk and use other facilities as well. No gujarati food in palace like heritage hotel.. its surprising.. rest facilities are gr8.
- Shounak (9/5): Superb -
- Rajendrakumar (9/5): Superb -
- Manoj (5/5): Not worth money except palace - Palace
Huge property Linen was bad and torn
No basic amenities in the room
Old TV
- Martyn (9/5): 100% happy - Such a beautiful house to stay in and the staff are wonderful The restaurant is good but not exceptional.
- Rabinder (4/5): Not hygienic - Location and service at restaurant. Washroom near restaurant is too dirty.
Room smelled of dirt. Washroom hasnt been upgraded at all.
Non veg served isnt fresh.
Bed sheets were changed twice by hotel staff yet dirty spots were still present on all of them.
- Jeffrey (7/5): Lovely legacy property and good fun - Lovely heritage property; the surrounding gardens. Bathrooms worthy of a high school gym. Staff at restaurant tried hard but we sometimes felt that we were inside a scene from Fawlty Towers. The food menu and quality are both sorely in need a refresh. The whole place, for all its charm and architectural grace feels démodé ; a throwback, pleasurable but in need of some upgrades.
- Leonie (8/5): Highly recommended- the best option in town - Great staff, good restaurant, nice location and historical charm. Help to get auto More local Gujarati food
- Akshaya (7/5): Good property and experience however property management can be improved. - The fact that it is heritage. Restaurant staff.
- Shivani (9/5): The palace has a truly fascinating history - it’s great to experience - Amazing value for money in this historical property. The staff were so helpful and kind. Ask for a tour of the palace so you can learn about its unique history. Don’t miss a dip in the circular swimming pool. Take a heritage tour of Bhavnagar.
- Belal (8/5): Beautiful hotel with excellent value for money - Beautiful building, lovely room It was all good
- Subhash (9/5): A comfortable stay with the vibes of an era gone-by - It was a unique experience staying at a palace. The room was huge and the attached washroom itself was the size of a standard room in modern hotels. The rest of the hotel with beautiful paintings, antique furniture and the feel of a royal palace is a must-stay if you are visiting Bhavnagar.
Special mention must be made for the front-desk staff member who was constantly in touch with me prior to the visit and helped manage a wrong payment. Can't complain much!
- Milind (9/5): Excellent heritage property with great service. - The old palace has great location right in the centre of Bhavnagar and also close to Victoria Park. The rooms have all modern amenities. The staff is very attentive and prompt. The food is excellent. The room decor (in the cottage )could be brighter. The bathroom layout can be improved with a shower stall.
- Prashant (8/5): Rajvadi filling - Room interior All good overall
- Shounak (10/5): Wonderful stay at affordable price . Enjoyed good food . - The location ,heritage property , serve good non vegetarian food in restaurant, courteous staff. Difficult to identify the hotel location due to absence of proper location in Google map as well as physical display at the entrance .
- Mehul (10/5): People who enjoy local history, stay in a palace for a reasonable price will really relish this hotel. - We enjoyed our stay at this century old heritage palace property. It is excellent worth for money. The food was excellent, served in the classical royal dining area. The entire staff was courteous and welcoming. The complimentary tour of the palace helped to learn its history. We were glad to take our pictures in this palace surrounding and also with the huge portraits of the erstwhile rulers.
It was revealing to know that this palace was made modest because Maharaja Takhtasinghji diverted funds for this palace to construction of a local hospital as was the need of the hour. The last Maharaja Krishnakumar Singhji was the first ruler to handover his Kingdom to Gandhiji to shape a united India after independence in 1947. None
- Kashyap (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sunil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arase (6/5): Pleasant - Name😄 Beds, pool, food...
- Shraddha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tejaswi (7/5): Good -
- Partha (5/5): good other than the swimming pool and club issue - the policy of closing the swimming pool on mondays is deplorable. it took the joy out of our vacation
- Sachin (10/5): Exceptional - Just to let other remember.
This is heritage site. 160 year old site.
So please keep it in your mind. And keep prestige of that .
- Kiritsinh (9/5): Superb -
- Rajesh (6/5): Pleasant -
- Philippe (10/5): Don't Miss it - A Really nice old palace , clean and not too over restored , you feel the 19th and 20th century India everywhere you are in this wonderful place. Upgrade room in the main building without asking. We came for the place and were not disappointed . Delicious.
Further more it's a Veg AND non Veg restaurant , Great Restaurant. The pool open only a few hours a day , far away from the building and open to all swimming teams of the city..........
In a way it was fun and so unexpected ( I think there isn't any other pool in the city ?)
- Sharma (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is well managed.I love the stay of a night.
Rooms are superb
Garden is awesome
Everything is perfect
- Deepak (10/5): Its always nice to stay at heritage place - The Hertiage
- Smitha (10/5): A royal stay - To stay at Nilambaug is indeed an honour. Once gets a glimpse of the royal heritage of Bhavnagar that has specifically been opened up for the public in the form of the heritage hotel. The royal artifacts, detailed paintings, exquisite woodwork adds to the charm of the stay. The staff is courteous and caring as ever.
