Guest Reviews
- Sean (8/5): -
- Ashleigh (9/5): -
- Steve (8/5): Good value for good hotel, staff and food ware good - Great location and facilities Room door locks need updating or digitising
- Mark (9/5): -
- Maureen (4/5): Disappointing stay - The hotel looks nice from the outside and has good parking. The staff were all really nice and the food was acceptable. Rooms and bathrooms are a good size. When you enter the property it is dark and depressing. The rooms we were allocated really aren’t fit for purpose. The bath panel was hanging off, the shower is handheld and hit and miss between being freezing cold or scalding. Nowhere to sit your toiletries, only a glass shelf above the sink that you are in danger of hitting your head against when trying to wash your face! Most tv channels didn’t work. The radiators were full of thick dust. The windows and sills were filthy. You couldn’t hang your clothes in the wardrobe because of some ironing board contraption hanging in it. No fruit or herbal teas and hot chocolate sachets out of date.
The other room we had had a bathroom decorated black with no window for natural light, the ceiling lights weren’t sufficient. It had a walk in shower with absolutely no lighting so it was pitch dark. That room was also run down and not too clean. We took a look at the leisure club and decided not to use it.
- John (7/5): - Good location Room had stain on carpet that looked like it had been there for a long time..
Lighting in the bathroom was poor. r
- Neil (9/5): - The pool, the staff, the location and the food.
- Jeremy (9/5): Great one night stay prior to catching the ferry to Arran. Pleasant walk into town. Staff were courteous and helpful and - Great location close to the shore with views across to Arran. The room was good with a nice bathroom. Lovely full breakfast and easy parking. Nothing
- martin (5/5): Good location nice staff breakfast poor - Breakfast poor tomatoes like water bit run down staff nice As above
- Willie (9/5): - Good location . Good rooms . Good leisure centre . Helpful friendly staff . Good hearty breakfast.

- Solga (9/5): Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt - Nettes Personal, tolles Zimmer mit super Duschen, klasse Frühstück, gutes Restaurant Bin mit allem zufrieden
- Jennifer (8/5): - The receptionist was so lovely. It could do with a few upgrades.
No bins in bedrooms
- Christine (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of food.
The pool was a good attraction and was open early, so we used before breakfast, giving us a good start to the day. The room was a little small, but was clean and had all facilities needed for our stay.
The decor was a little tired near the room entrance.
- Stephen (8/5): -
- JENNIFER (10/5): QUALITY COUNTS HERE - Really enjoyed our stay, even tho only one night it was good from the check in to check out Staff were all very pleasant.
The room 7 was spacious and a great view of the sea, 2 very comfortable armchairs which you dont always get in hotels these days. The bed was large and comfortable we both had a really good sleep.
We had our evening meal at hotel which was well served and presented and tasty. Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice. All the hot food was actually hot and tasty.
We both felt this hotel was a Quality Counts Hotel. We have stayed at others of course but they seemed to leave a lot to be desired in our opinion and just cover the basics.
The Fairfield House Hotel ticked all our boxes. Nothing to complain about
- Peter (7/5): -
- James (9/5): Amazing - Room was large. We'll decorated. Modern bathroom with shower. Bed was so comfy I slept sound. Truthly I couldn't complain.
- Ashley (9/5): Would book again - Location Dampness in bathroom
- hayley (9/5): Great hotel for a stop over just a bit over priced in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in - Large room great shower comfy bed good view. Food very nice in restaurant Bedside light taped up. Expected a little more luxury for price. We had executive room with view.
Husband went into gym, facilities not the best, quite dated.
- Mary Jane (8/5): Enjoyable stay in Ayre - Beautiful old home converted to hotel overlooking the sea. Good restaurant on site with lovely wait staff. Spacious rooms. A pool and gym also. Easy walk to the sea esplanade Carpets in hallways and room are tired. Definitely in need of a refresh.
- Ute (8/5): -
- Ward (10/5): -
- Morgan (6/5): Reasonable value for money. -
- Carol (9/5): -
- Kim (10/5): Memorable and thankful to have had this time in this beautiful place with my mum - The staff were very welcoming and friendly and really helped us out a lot with storage for a wheelchair so we didn’t have to take it up and down stairs. Whenever you went into the reception there was always a hello and asking how we were, which felt like a nice personal touch. The WiFi connection was a little iffy so we couldn’t use the Netflix or watch YouTube on the tv but apart from that everything else was fantastic
- Sheralee (10/5): -
- Lynda (8/5): -
- Nicola (7/5): Just ok - not worth the money - Location was excellent and staff extremely helpful and friendly Hotel/room needs upgraded for the price you are paying. Not usual RAD group standards like Lochside Hotel or Radstone Hotel. Our shower didnt work...either extremely hot or freezing cold.
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Gwen (3/5): -
- Clare (7/5): - Large carnegie suite nice but very dark and no sea view we had hoped there was and didnt check this out
Also lots of rubbish and napkins under the sofa
Carpet needs replaced alot of noise and very creaky floor boards next to kitchen and pool would NOT choose this room maybe others
Plastic cups no glasses no robes no slippers no extra touches poor Cleanliness
Dark room
No windows and dark grey inside
- Fiona (8/5): - Comfortable rooms good shower, good location Price was too expensive
- Gorazd (8/5): -
- Roddy (8/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): Had a lovely stay. Weather was fantastic which allowed us to take advantage of the outdoor area in the bar. Staff were l - Great location The room we were allocated was lovely apart from it having no natural light coming in. Only had a tiny window which was covered by a tree.
- Robert (9/5): -
- bruce (6/5): Good level of comfort, marred by poor initial reception - Overall the property provided me with a pleasant stay. I was disappointed however that I didn't receive a more positive response to a request I made on arrival for secure storage to be made available for my relatively high value bicycle which I regarded as a key part of my cycling holiday. I had to work hard to negotiate access to an area behind an unlocked gate at the hotel having been told by front of house that my bike would be perfectly secure locked to a sign outside the front reception area. In all other areas, staff were helpful and attentive. However, I won't be recommending the hotel to other touring colleagues owing to the reception outlined above.
- william (4/5): -
- Pauline (8/5): - Room could really be doing with a fridge
- Sheena (7/5): Lovely hotel but unimpressed. - The size of the room was good also the ensuite was beautiful. The grounds looked well kept , it was roughly a 10 minute walk into the town centre which was a bonus. The room was cold in the evening and even turning up the radiators didn't bring the heating on. Although the ensuite was beautiful the shower didn't work well, the water would go cold the all of a sudden it would be boiling to the point you had to step back. When we told the receptionist on our day of leaving, she said she that she knew about this and thought they were waiting on parts. Well !! why rent a room out if they knew this. The duvet needs replacing the filling was all lumpy.
- Lisa (9/5): - How friendly the staff where, the location and the food was amazing Nothing
- Terence (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Plenty of choice including gluten free which suited my wife. We considered other of options in the town for evening meals but got just as good if not better value in the hotel and because my wife is disabled, it was more convenient. The shower was sometimes temperamental in that it would run cool for a couple of seconds, and a grab handle inside the cubicle would have been helpful for my wife.
- Oliver (7/5): Lovely place, little aged. - Noce location, staff were awesome! Showing its age, and not really true to the ‘pristine’ photos.
- McNeil (10/5): - Great hotel, great staff and location is fabulous Nothing
- Martin (10/5): - Everything was spot on No square sausage at breakfast only links
- susan (9/5): Was lovely and quiet with beautiful views and good food! - Beautiful building and lovely staff. The restaurant was very good and on site which was appreciated after a long day of travel. Stunning views across the park of the islands and the Firth of Clyde. Great breakfast!
- Rob (10/5): Fandabbiiedozy - Very friendly staff great location right by the beach cock stride from railway station. Rooms very nice. Food excellent Nothing
- Suzi (8/5): -
- Hannah (9/5): We were away for a wedding and needed accommodation near all family members in the area. The only thing was the wait on - Location was good for what we needed N/a
- Colette (10/5): -
- Helen (9/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): Me & my hisbands favourite wee hotel. Very relaxing - The breakfast is really good great choice very fresh My room was really nice only thing I wasn't keen on was the fact you couldn't look out of the window as they were glazed over.
- Archie (9/5): -
- Wilkie (8/5): This is our preferred hotel in Ayr. It is run by a good team we see every year. They care about the hotel and customer s - The location overlooking the sea to Arran Nothing
- Stephen (5/5): Spoilt by heating not working - The heating in the bathroom wasn't working, we reported it to a member of staff who assured us it be working in c20min - never did, bathroom was freezing
- john (5/5): Not good value at all. Avoid. - Nil Vastly over priced. Couldn’t swing a cat in the bathroom. Room carpet was dirty and sticky. Room window view onto brick wall. Absolutely not worth the money spent. Had not been decorated since 1978!
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - Size of rooms .we had room 25 it was outside at end of hotel had wee court yard .was like wee flat Swimming pool was great fun but needs updated
- mhairiann (10/5): -
- mhairiann (10/5): -
- James (8/5): Didn’t eat in hotel so can’t comment on food or restaurant. -
- diarmaid (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay excellent for families - Really friendly and large room. Being picky the WiFi could be better.
- Guest (8/5): -
- Joyce (8/5): Comfortable but could’ve been better. Lovely staff and location. - Location Window was next to another building so mirror film was on majority of window- made an otherwise lovely room quite dingy. Room was quite cold but only there one night.
- Pauline (10/5): - Everything was good. It would be better if the weather was good . Bed was so comfortable. Everything was good I be back.
- Natalie (7/5): - Easy access to beach, park etc
Swimming pool on site
- Morris (8/5): Lovely, staff attentive , food was great- waited a bit as we didn’t book, and room very clean - Great room, spacious and everything we needed No mini fridge and an old age key to enter room
- Jacqueline (10/5): -
- William (7/5): Positives outweighed the negatives and I would return to the establishment - Staff were friendly and efficient. Meals were excellent and facilities good View from the room window looked on to a brick structure, literally 1 metre in distance .
Shower room fan did not work and the towel rail did not heat, both problems were reported to the guy on reception, so that was a disappointment.
- James (9/5): Excellent hotel with great location - Excellent location Door was opened unexpectedly at 8pm by member of staff ‘by mistake’ of course but it was a little frightening at the time.
- Barbara (7/5): Comfortable, accommodating staff. Well presented - Dining Room Signage around the car park - hard to locate entrance for first time visitors.
No room signage to decline housekeeping services when on short stays 2-3 nights
- Morse (9/5): Great experience all round - Both excellent Nothing
- Ross (10/5): -
- Keith (10/5): A lovely wee break - All perfect
- stuart (10/5): Fantastic hotel great location - We had room 9 with a wonderful sea view, a max taken minute stroll into town. Second time we have stayed and will be back. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly Nothing
- Laura (7/5): -
- Alison (10/5): Great hotel in fab location with good restaurant. - Great hotel right on the seafront with stunning views.
Very friendly staff. Really nice atmosphere. Room was very comfortable.
Restaurant serves good quality food at reasonable prices. Shower in my room was a little temperamental and needed a shelf in the bathroom to put things down on.
- Lynda (9/5): -
- Colin (8/5): Great staff, great food and would stay again - Food was excellent. Towel heater in bathroom was not working.
- Amanda (9/5): Receptionist was lovely, big smile and very welcoming. - Very clean, decorations are now a little outdated, but to be honest a good refresh of cushion covers, better prints in the lovely photo frames and sugar soap on the wallpaper is all it needs Towel heater was on 24 hours, the hotel could have timers fitted, saving a bit of money for other things.
- Allan (8/5): good hotel in a great location - Room was cold but nice size and comfortable.
Breakfast was great
Location was fantastic - right by the sea! room was cold
staff were mixed - some not interested - shame
- WILLIAM (7/5): -
- Alan (10/5): -
- Michael (6/5): -
- malcolm (10/5): Impressed - Gym was a bonus, very close to town and beach No issues
- Elaine (10/5): Family stay - It was a family stay, our 2 rooms were next to each other and had our own hallway leading to the rooms.Rooms were spacious and well equipped.
- David (8/5): - Location to town centre. Dinner could have been warmer.
- hessel (10/5): -
- Connor (10/5): - Location and staff where great. Room was exceptionally clean and great value for money
- Simone (8/5): Lovely hotel. Food excellent - Perfect stay for event at Ayr pavilion Rooms were a bit tired
- Stefan (9/5): -
- Meopham (10/5): - Swimming pool & Sauna were epic, and the staff were v nice
- James (8/5): exceeded our expectations for Ayr. - It was a super big room, the Carnegie suite. Large four poster bed. Had a jacuzzi bath not used. TV difficult to select channel and get radio working. Dinner: the steaks were good but the seafood lasagne was disappointing. Breakfast OK.
- George (10/5): Excellent, fantastic staff, great hotel, wonderful location! - Best room in hotel looking out over the bay, fantastic view! Room was perfect, quiet and well kitted out. Had dinner and breakfast which were perfect. Noyning to add
- Toni (9/5): Lovely overnight stay with family - My family really enjoyed our stay the best about it was the giant bath & showers in the Churchill suite. The bed was a bit uncomfortable hard mattress however the bed was massive and so was the room very spacious so that made up for it.
- George (10/5): Great staff lovely hotel great location - Perfect location Nothing to report
