Guest Reviews
- Joseph (8/5): -
- Laura (10/5): Very comfortable, super clean and reminded me of how nice it used to be to go to a motel. Bathrooms with real tile and - Blast from the past! Great retro touches throughout.
- Teri (10/5): Very nice. Would definitely do again - Liked the retro look. Was very nice. Room was very clean. Staff was very friendly. Wasn’t anything I didn’t like
- Gretchen (10/5): Wonderful old school motel. - Very clean, close to I-40 but didn’t hear any freeway noise. Very clean, well kept. Would stay again!
- Beth (10/5): - Great vibe, nice staff, clean and comfy
- Liz (10/5): -
- Hadar (10/5): Excellent little motel, recommended - Staff are all kind and welcoming, rooms are clean and spacious and have everything you need for a short stay, even a little duck in the shower ☺️ loved the prepacked breakfast Bed was too soft to our liking, but this is subjective
- Karen (8/5): Great break from the road! Comfortable! Great owner! - Route 66 typical little motel! Owner is wonderful. A wealth of information! Comfortable break from the road!
- Debra (6/5): -
- Julie (10/5): - This is a vintage motel right on old Highway 66. It is not a luxury motel. The owner has retained a vintage charm and added delightful details and spaces, e.g. a community patio with comfortable seating surrounded by a raised garden with hummingbirds. You will feel the love if you stay here.
- Jon (10/5): This is a jewel in hiding. We will plan around staying at this motel in the future drive to Arizona. - Adorable mid-century furnished motel room that was perfectly kept, incredibly clean, and included a bagged breakfast. So much cleaner than the chain hotels we had been staying at while traveling.
- Twyla McCarty (6/5): - Cute Route 66 hotel. Old but kept up. Clean. Not much since I wasn't expecting a Marriott hotel.
- Schlueter (10/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Very lovely! - Very clean, super comfortable beds, pillows are so amazing I want to buy one! Have us a nah of ice and a breakfast in a bag on check in. Old motel but very well maintained and smells good. Very nice! I didn’t see anything I didn’t like
- Joann (9/5): - The front desk was awesome.
- Charles (10/5): Get a feel for Route 66 - Vintage feel
Clean despite age Nothing
- Vanessa (10/5): -
- Daniece (9/5): -
- Gillespie (10/5): - Great location near the airport. Clean and cozy. Staff was very friendly. Much better than the alternative motels that I have stayed at in the past during trips to Moriarty.
- Donna (10/5): -
- Boyd (8/5): - Provided places to eat and to go breakfast. Electric outlets were limited.
- Steve (10/5): - It's an older location but we'll maintained.
- Steven (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Super Aufenthalt - Cooler Vintage - Style! Habe mich gerade in die 80 Jahre zurück versetzt gefühlt.
- Pam (10/5): - Very friendly and accommodating
- farley (9/5): -
- Brandon (1/5): - There was a scorpion in the bed. We didn't even stay longer than an hour.
- Stefani (10/5): - Very quiet, comfortable, lovely hostess. Nothing - short stay went better than expected.
- Charles (10/5): Very Route 66 vintage - Very clean
- Paul W (10/5): - Small town so everything is close to motel. Front desk staff is always nice. I have stayed here at least 6 times in the last 10 years and will return.
- Ginni (8/5): Great location, comfortable, and good value. - Sunset is on the east side of Albuquerque so it’s great to get beyond the morning traffic if you’re coming from AZ. The rooms were spacious, extremely well kept & clean, and very comfortable. No complaints at all!
- Stacey (9/5): Felt like I was back in the day! Loved it! -
- McNutt (9/5): We love this hotel and keep coming back! - Great room option for a larger family. Hospitable. Good service. Safe place. Very clean! My sleep was not as good as my family. For my damaged back the bed was not the best option for me but everyone else slept great!
- Preeyada (9/5): Very comfortable and clean for the value with super helpful and friendly staff. - Easy to find and the staff was super friendly and kind. Love little nice touch throughout the room such as Hershey Kisses by the bed and little rubber ducky by the tub. Also really like the separate sink from the main bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. The muffin and bear claw and little cuties were so yummy for breakfast and great coffee for the kurig machine in the room. Highly recommend this place! The only problem we came across was how to operate the kurig machine but we finally figured it out after several attempts.
- Sandra (10/5): Very pleased. - Exceeded my expectations. Very clean, quiet, comfortable. Would definitely recommend this original motel on Hwy 66 in Moriarty. Easy off I40.
- Barbara (9/5): - Great value motel
- Ricky (10/5): - It was exactly what I was expecting! Staff was amazing and super friendly! Bed was comfortable, Room had a great nostalgic atmosphere. A must stay for anyone who wants to experience 66 in its prime. Everything was great!
- Shimeng (10/5): - Clean, safe and good service.
- Jennifer Hammel (10/5): - The beautiful lady in the office was very nice and helpful
Great area for your dogs too!
Love the "old style" motel atmosphere
- Frances (8/5): - Sunset Motel Moriarty have a very reasonable animal deposit - even allow large dogs. They have a goathead free grassy area for the dogs. At check in, the dogs are given a blanket to lay on the bed! Humans get a little breakfast bag of tangerines and a couple of muffins. They have a nespresso machine in each room. I loved the cute vintage furniture. Beds were comfortable. We appreciated the large parking lot as we were towing a trailer.
Shower was nice and hot and great pressure. Room was clean. Very well run family owned motel.
I would stay again. I didn't like the pillows - too stuffed for my taste. My husband didn't have any problems.
- Patti (9/5): Our room was VERY CLEAN and smelled very nice! Comfortable and pleasant for the most part!! - There was no actual breakfast, but we were treated to 2 "cuties" and a muffin and bear claw and a muffin!! The electrical outlet did not hold on to the cord in the bathroom, but we used the other in the sleeping area. Very minimal inconvenience. The only other thing we would have appreciated was more room to use our toiletries.
- Karen (10/5): - I always stay here when passing through
- Paul W (10/5): -
- David (9/5): A great place to stay just far enough away from Albuquerque to reduce congestion and expense. - I was greeted not only by an efficient and friendly manager but by a cat with a great personality. The room was clean with a great working Keurig coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable and the heater and a/c easy to work. A great feature was the breakfast bag that they gave me at check-in and that contained nice baked goods from a local business. They also gave me solid advice on places for dinner.
- Debra (8/5): - Clean Bed uncomfortable
- Tammie (10/5): -
- Charles (10/5): Loved everything about this place. They nail it with the little details. - Everything! Best Motel we’ve ever stayed in.
- Marion (10/5): - This is a charming family owned motel that is simply a wonderful place to stay.
- Lara (10/5): Clean, friedly place that's full of nostalgic charm. - Very friendly staff! Cute, nostalgic hotel. Perfectly good place to stay while traveling. Room was pretty hot and couldn't get it cooler. Had to crack a window.
- Janet (10/5): Great place! - Loved it clean. Well kept. We stayed 6 nights. Same breakfast almost every day which was a take away breakfast. Although very yummy.
- Melanie (9/5): Second year staying here. Enjoy the retro vibe and close to restaurants and I40. - Love the tiny rubber duckie on the tub. Keurig single coffee maker is nice. Nice retro decor and room was clean. Outside is well kept. Glad there was a fridge, but would have liked a freezer to refreeze the ice packs for my ice chest. Also, the in-room coffee was terrible (no more Starbucks please).
- Richard (8/5): -
- Debora (8/5): Good - The check in lady was so nice she shared good locations for food. We loved the rubber duckie, and breakfast bag.
- Donald (7/5): -
- Ann (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable. - It was like stepping back in time. When we checked in the owner noticed that booking.com had overcharged us for the night. He adjusted the charges. He also provided us a goodie bag with fresh pastries and nectarines for breakfast. The room was very clean and nicely appointed. Will certainly stay again and recommend to our friends. Everything was perfect. No complaints.
- MITCHELL (7/5): Bathroom had no water pressure..barely a trickle. Totally different experience from first stsy - Love the old feel of the place and location Lady who greeted me was rude and acted like I was an inconvenience. I met owners on my last visit and they were very pleasant and fun to talk with.
- Bob (10/5): Super! -
- Shane (10/5): - The owner of the motel was very kind and it was clear she put a lot of care into it. I was delighted to talk with her and stay in the room.
- Rylee George (10/5): Cozy, dog-friendly motel along Route 66. Highly recommend! - The staff was exceptionally nice at check in! The motel does have a small pet fee of $25 - which is actually quite reasonable. The room was clean, cozy, and cute. They did not have a continental breakfast, but they gave us a breakfast bag the night of our check in with a wonderful almond crescent, a muffin, and some oranges. I would absolutely come back!
- Brent (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable and nostalgic motel. Rooms were very large and spacious. The owner is a very nice man and a joy to talk to.
- Mary Beth (9/5): -
- LuAnn (10/5): - The motel was well maintained and close to restaurants. Mike at the front desk was awesome.. Nothing.
- Jay (10/5): Will stay again! - Everything Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Clean and Convenient - This was my second stay.. We expected to arrive several hours past check-in so I called ahead and they made arrangements that allowed us into the room well afterhours. The truckstop restaurant across the street (Lisa's?) had a great breakfast and easy fill-up as we headed out of town I was not disappointed.
- Daryl (9/5): Clean, large room in retro Route 66 motel - Clean, large room and friendly staff Nothing
- Aditya (10/5): -
- Diane (10/5): -
- David (10/5): 5 Stars ! - 5 Stars ! love this place, Quiet, It was great !
- Steven (8/5): - Friendly reception and homemade muffins and fruit in a sack breakfast. Peet’s coffee in the room. Quaint but clean. Reserved parking next to room.
- Kitty (8/5): Very good - Good except for the pillows and parking spaces. I like smaller, softer pillows. Other motels furnish different types of pillows and I can use the ones I like.
The parking space was too narrow to open my wide doors so I parked further away, which was much further away because no spaces were marked in the big blacktop area.
- Monique (9/5): - Clean room, very cozy and welcoming! Quit room and very convenient parking. Shower curtain had a weird smell that lingered through the room.
- Anderson (10/5): Debbie, the hotel manager was so kind and thoughtful. She even gave us fresh baked goods for breakfast. If we’re in the - The room was clean and comfortable.
- Gretchen (10/5): - It was clean with such an enjoyable retro decor like a trip from my childhood.
- Rick (10/5): -
- Nathan (10/5): -
- Michael (7/5): No frills, night stay - It served the purpose for a transient night stay. Much character, tasty breakfast treats. Well used
- Marizella (8/5): Excellent for a quick night - Price was good. Room was clean. Had 70’s vintage feel. Rubber duck on the bathtub. Hershey kisses provided on night stand. Overall good for a quick stop Odor was vintage.
- kim (9/5): - A very retro hotel.
- Lola (10/5): Will definitely be coming back! - The owners were so accommodating. We have service animals and 1 pet cat (my daughters). We're moving back across the country and found this cute retro motel and booked online. I slept like a baby! It was so quiet too, I was able to get up early, drink coffee and read for a couple hours before my daughter woke up.
- Silver (9/5): -
- Anna (9/5): -
- Darlene (10/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Comfortable, clean and nostalgic - Comfortable, cozy vibe. The road noise was a little ridiculous at a few times thru the night. Nothing the property has any control over, but silly that some drivers feel the need to rev their engines at 2am.
- Victor (6/5): - Large parking area that accommodated our RV. Breakfast take away pack was unexpected and pleasant. Walls are thing. Shower water pressure is poor.
- Debra (10/5): Charming, vintage boutique motel - There wasn’t an actual breakfast offered but we were given a sweet “gift”bag with tangerines and pastries, and coffee was available at the front desk location. Very charming and appreciated. We loved the vintage boutique charm as well as the history the place. Rooms were clean and spacious, beds were comfortable. Could hear other outside but was quieted down at a reasonable time.
- Dawn (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Funky cool motel operated continuously since 1959 with very friendly staff. - Route 66 funky clean motel with good food & great brewery close by. Bit of an old motel room smell when first in the room but the a/c took care of that in no time
- Julie (10/5): -
- Sarah (3/5): High hopes but a let down - The decor was retro which was fun and the chairs were comfy. Not sure why this place has so many good reviews. Room smelled musty, the carpets were stained and old, we found food trash under the beds, the bathroom door was very difficult to close, and the water in the shower fluctuated from scalding hot to cold constantly. Also, the “breakfast” was some tiny tiny pastries, unripe oranges, and a strange muffin. Finally, the tv was the size that of a small computer monitor.
- Drew (6/5): -
- Candiss (10/5): -
- Kimberly (10/5): - This place was clean and comfortable! The check in was easy and friendly and they provided a to go breakfast! Absolutely recommend!
- Carol (10/5): Arrived on Wednesday and stayed thru to Monday and the hotel staff was very helpful and nice.each day the room was clean - Very clean and easily accessible
- melih (9/5): -
- Perry (8/5): -
- Dennis (10/5): - Nostalgic motel. Clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and knowledgeable Nothing comes to mind
- Olha Kyianko (9/5): - The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, and we were pleasantly surprised by the little treats left for us - such a nice touch from the hotel! The beds were very comfortable, and the location is perfect if you're traveling along I-40. The furniture and décor are a bit dated, but overall we really enjoyed our stay.
- Mary (9/5): Comfortable and friendly accommodations. - Very clean and friendly staff. A bit dated
- Ed Pinkard (7/5): Tired 🥱 - The lady at the front desk was not very polite to me and then she started yelling at me because my truck was running and I went to open my room. I guess it was because I was tried and it was late 10.20 pm. I don’t know but she didn’t like me at all . But I guess she doesn’t have too
Anyways no big deal. It all worked out for the best.
