• Jeanette (8/5): A very luxurious onsen experience with some of the best cocktails I've ever had! - Cocktails and bartenders at night were exceptional. High end cocktails with top tier service. Also really appreciated all the complimentary snacks and drinks inside the room. Dinner and breakfast menu was very sophisticated but did wish the food servings were a little bit larger as I didn't end up feeling full after meals.

• Maria (9/5): A getaway hotel in a beautiful location - The hotel gives the opportunity to enjoy a very relaxed and luxurious vibe. Beautiful views, attentive staff, great private spa, when choosing the free flow cocktails I would suggest sticking to the classics. I think that the rooms could use a little fresh up - especially the doors and bathroom/toilet areas. Beware of the check-in and checkout times - they are very different to usual.

• Alexandre (9/5): Beautiful getaway and luxurious stay: Watch-out for changes to their shuttle service - This is really a gem of a hotel. Perfect stop to unwind from the intensity of Tokyo and enjoy a beautiful lush scenery. Highly recommend booking a private bath if travelling as a couple. Drink options are immense and the food options for dinner were delicious. Two elements: Breakfast is not great from a western point of view. A few more options would be ideal. Shuttle service: we had a frustrating situation where we were told their shuttle service would drop us somewhere when we were checking out for that then to be changed last minute. We were only able to make our shinsaken train reservation by a minute and this was quite some unnecessary stress due to their own change of plans without aligning with us and not delivering on what they had told us. Watch -out.

• Tina (10/5): - Alles! Einfach eine Traumunterkunft mit sensationellem Service, unfassbaren Drinks, tollem Essen. Schade dass wir nur eine Nacht da waren. Als Paar sollte man unbedingt das privat onsen buchen, da im Hotelspa Frauen und Männer wie immer getrennt sind. Es war alles perfekt!!!
• Marta (9/5): Todo perfecto, el lugar idóneo para relajarse y disfrutar de un Japón diferente. Más tranquilo y donde se para el tiempo - Las vistas, la arquitectura, el servicio - todo increíble. Un lugar realmente bonito y cuidado. El bar con su mostrador de madera de más de 14 metros y sus cocktails con vistas a las montañas son impagables. Los Onsen son increíbles, todo cuidado hasta el más mínimo detalle. Las habitaciones son super amplias (al contrario de lo que suele ocurrir en Japón). Lo recomiendaria una y mil veces! Aunque son cosas que no me frenarían para volver sí que pienso que la comida es algo que sin duda tienen que mejorar. Un hotel de estas características debería de ofrecer comida de calidad y creo que no es su fuerte. Además, el baño de las habitaciones comparado con el resto de las instalaciones tampoco está muy a la altura. Por último diría que la ubicación es un pelín remota si te gusta ir a tiro hecho (autobús, tren, coche..hay que hacer un poco de todo hasta llegar al hotel).
• Shengyin (4/5): Not Good. - 2F Lounge is cozy. 1. Different staff kept “reminding” me of the check-out time is 2pm, which makes me quite upset. I’ve already clearly known the rules when I booked this hotel, there’s no reason to keep telling me. 2. So called “shuttle bus”: either it is fully booked, or the time / destination is not applicable. However, the staff kept asking you whether I would like to use the shuttle bus… doesn’t make any sense to me. 3. I came to the hotel early and I just needed to put my heavy bag here. My intention is not to check in early and I know the 6pm is the check-in time. While a lady thought that I would be staying at the hotel until the check-in time, she refused to provide the WiFi password to me, keeping saying “ the WiFi is busy, no password sorry”. When I told her the reason I need to connect the WiFi is I have to check my next destination, she was like totally relieved and finally provide the WiFi password to me. To be honest, it’s really unrespectful. 4. The brunch menu is unclear, making me pay additional “special offer” item. The price should be more clear, and your staff should introduce to the client clearly. 5. I reserved the private onsen. However, I have to say that the temperature is pretty cold, even the air condition is. 30 degree. So as the hotel inside, I feel cold as well in some spaces. 6. No slipper, no toothbrush and tooth paste in the room. Overall, it’s over-rated. Also, the service is average. I spent over CNY 3,500 in this hotel. To be honest, at this price, u can find much better choices in Hakone. Anyway, I came here to spend my weekend, but the overall experience is below my experience. I travel to Japan quite often and I love this country. However, this is the only hotel that I definitely won’t be visiting again.

• Dorothee (10/5): The perfect place to relax - The Barhotel Kazan is a very unique place. It's true relaxation and comfort. The hotel offers a huge variety of free drinks at the bar where you can enjoy the scenic view and the fantastic atmosphere. The staff is incredibly friendly, respectful und focused on their amazing service. The Rooms are spacious and cozy. We've been there for the second time already and looking forward to come back next year again. It's an excellent place if you're looking for some quiet, relaxing environment. The Hotel offers private Onsen or public Onsen as well. It's surrounded by nature. The service is awesome. The staff always try their best to make the stay fantastic.

The private bath (which is required to use if you stay in the double bed with the shared bathroom) was lovely. They are really generous with the alcohol. Breakfast was nice too. Location is the biggest killer unfortunately. The shuttle service doesn't go very far, but use it as the driveway is very steep.

• Candice (10/5): This was the most amazing and memorable place we have ever stayed. - The views are amazing no matter where you are at on the property. We loved that it was private and secluded that was the complete opposite from the hustle of the city. It made for such a relaxing stay. If you’re contemplating the cost don’t. The service, drinks, amenities, and property will hands down make it worth it. There isn’t anything we didn’t like. But with the seclusion of the area be prepared that it’s not in a very walkable. It can be done but is not ideal. So setting up morning shuttles or arranging a cab was very necessary.

Uncrowded, enormous and beautifully designed rooms, an incredible onsen that was open until 3am and excellent food. All drinks are included. The aspect is incredible with views down the mountain ranges from the bar, breakfast room and onsen. If you want to relax, eat and drink in a beautiful environment this is the place to do it. The staff were incredibly attentive and didn't miss a thing. Nothing. Everything was excellent

Loved the mid century modern styling. Free drinks and champagne on arrival were a real perk, and more or less justify the (very high) price of the room. Both public onsen were really nice, especially the larger one. Staff made a real effort to look after us apart from the shuttle mix up. Breakfast was generous and delicious. We had a gorgeously relaxing stay for just one night but wished it could have been longer. The shuttle bus failed to pick us up from the station despite us giving an arrival time. The hotel asked us to confirm when we arrived too, but there was no signal from the closest station, so we had a scary and very wet walk up the pavement-less hill to the hotel in the dark.

There is no housekeeping at this “hotel” there is really only a bar, so if you stay for more than one night which we did your bed is not made, rubbish not collected etc. There is very limited food provided in the room for the price and limited options to purchase at the bar. Brunch was limited to some weird savory finger food, soup and one main dish which was weird there was no fruit or anything sweet or breakfasty available . If you are going to provide this much alcohol then they really should provide more food options. The property is in a lovely position but it’s not easy to get to, and there’s nothing much around.

The view is amazing and the staff are very kind and helpful, also the bartenders are great in terms of quality, knowledge and empathy. Although we knew the concept of the hotel is a bar, due to the location of the hotel where is not very easy to get out to buy food/find a restaurant, and the fact of drinking alcohol that is not good for driving, the options for food at the menu could increase or the services for food.

We had a couple of things we needed assistance with and Reiko and Yuna were always available to help our group. Everyone was just so kind! There are literally hundreds of cocktails to try and everything we had was great. This was honestly the most magical hotel I’ve ever stayed in, just unreal attention to detail and service. Thank you so much, barhotel! Everything was perfect.
