- angela (10/5): A great stay in a fantastic property. - A wonderful property in a fantastic location. We stayed at Stuart house for 5 nights and this was a fantastic base to explore the southern coast. The house is lovely, spacious and extremely clean. All six of our guests were comfortable, and enjoyed the classic feel with the modern luxury of the pool and AC. Jayantha was always on hand and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. We would absolutely love to stay at Stuart house again. N/A

- Grzegorz (10/5): Wonderful historic house - The house is spectacular. A huge villa with lots of space and stylish interiors. Spacious, comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, air-conditioned bedrooms (the common area does not have AC), a nice swimming pool, and above all, the feeling of staying in a unique place. The location is excellent - a quiet street, a short walk from the beach and the town center (shops, market, etc.). Very good contact with the host. The price is high for Sri Lanka, but definitely worth it. Some of the kitchen equipment is a bit worn out, but that's a minor detail.

- Masha (10/5): Amazing colonial Villa for family or friends - What a gorgeous Villa just like the photos! So much privacy nestled inside beautiful trees. Had a wonderful time in the swimming pool and dinner on the pool deck. Quick walk to the town and the lovely beach. Jayantha the caretaker so helpful to us. The place was spotlessly clean. All facilities were available in the Villa including a washing machine/ dryer. Owner was so nice allowing a late checkout. Will definitely come again ! Nothing

- Виктория (10/5): A wonderful old house for a large family or a group of friends. - The house is steeped in history. Very kind and nice owner. Quickly resolves issues. There is everything for a comfortable stay, even a washing machine appeared during our stay. This made our stay easier and made me happier. We stayed here with a large family, 2 adults and 4 children. The children loved it, there was plenty of space to play and do things. Convenient location, there is a beach and a supermarket nearby, and it is easy to go to other places by tuk tuk.

- Denise (10/5): A wonderful stay in a beautiful Sri Lankan property. - It’s a rare chance to stay in a beautiful old Sri Lankan house. The pool and the rear garden are fabulous. It’s a very large, spacious house - well situated both for the town and the beach. Nothing.
- Andrew (10/5): Stuart houses Tangalle. - Stuart houses a great place to stay, bedrooms are large each with ensuite.The also have a fan and aircon. The pool is great on a hot day and there are also sunbeds.Jayantha the caretaker is pleasant and polite and always ready to help. Krishni the owner is always available on WhatsApp if you need to get in contact with her and responds quickly.There is a small beach 5 minutes walk from the house and a much larger one 25 minute walk (5 minutes by tuk tuk) with plenty of bars and restaurants.If you are visiting Tangalle I would highly recommend Stuart houses. Nothing
- Tara (10/5): This house has a fantastic set up, huge open design with multiple living rooms to hang out with friends and seperate kit - Such a gorgeous house! Much bigger than in photos. Host was very generous allowing us a late checkout for our evening flight. She also provided a list of things to do locally and was very responsive to our queries. Lots of bugs but unavoidable unfortunately. Beds have mosquito nets thankfully:)

I visited with a group of friends, and the place exceeded all of our expectations. The house is beautifully preserved, blending historic charm with modern architecture to provide guests with a unique and delightful experience. It was impeccably clean, spacious, and filled with stunning colonial furniture. The atmosphere was picturesque, perfect for a memorable stay. Krishni Gunawardena, the owner, is incredibly friendly and attentive. She made sure we were well-settled and enjoying our stay. A special mention goes to Ajantha, who was always there to assist us. His helpfulness and readiness to assist deserve a full 5 stars. The location is also ideal—just 350 meters from the beach and a 5-minute walk to town. The house and the spacious washrooms were spotless, adding to the comfort of our stay. We are definitely coming back!

- Martina (10/5): Exceptional - The villa is just incredible, we spent 3 Christmas nights and felt as in a dream. The photos are successful at capturing the atmosphere of the place. Our kids said that they felt like royalty :-) It's very close to the beach and if you don't feel like going, there's always the pool - large enough to swim. Our host Krishni said that she only started renting the villa in the last year. There could be some minor improvements for the traveler's comfort - a washing machine, hair-dryer. Also, the communication regarding our arrival was a bit stressful, as the host wanted to be present, but doesn't live in Tangalle.
- James (10/5): Old world charm in a huge family home - This is a beautiful period property in the colonial style of a hundred years ago or so I guess. Amazing high ceilings, classic furniture and chilled out verandas where you can sit and watch the birds and life go by. Lovely caretaker Jayantha on site who is the sweetest soul and who will do anything for you. He has limited English but the very helpful and responsive host Krishni will mediate if required. Pool not the biggest but enough to cool down when you need it. Excellent aircon in the bedrooms. Overall excellent value for money Unseasonal rain !!
- Flint (10/5): Great Relaxing & Quiet Experience at Stuart House - Our family had an very enjoyable time at Stuart House. The house was very spacious, clean and beautifully laid out with air-conditioned rooms and nice furniture. The garden was massive (kids loved it with all the birds flying around) with a nice pool. Felt relaxed with total privacy. We enjoyed the beach, which was just 5-8 minutes walk (not much crowds at the closest beach). The owner was very gracious to allow us to use the entire home as there was no other guests. Check-in, check-out times were very flexible, no fuss. The caretaker made a very nice breakfast with a mix of western & eastern food. He was very knowledgeable about things local. Reasonable price. Would stay here again for sure.
- George (10/5): Coming from the USA, we cannot for a moment think of getting a deal like this. - On our way to the Yala National Park, we both had an amazing stay at Stuart House Tangalle. Woke up to the songs of birds and very much enjoyed the serenity of the garden view. We had the entire villa to ourselves where the caretaker cooked us what was requested. We also went down to the beach and had a very enjoyable time. The villa was built by the current owner's great grandfather who was a famous citizen in the southern province nearly a 100 years ago and still maintains its beautiful charm. I would recommend the hosts to install a washing machine and dryer for the convenience of their future guests.
