Guest Reviews
- joey Henricus (10/5): - The staff was amazing
- Abigail (9/5): Good for solo travellers. - They have activities lined up for people who don't have planned itineraries. They also have free dinners and games as well which is a very good time to get to know each other. I didn't get to stay longer.
- Andy (10/5): - As a manila boy, I was the only pinoy and everyone is foreigners. Love it here super cozy, spacious, feels like home and also kuya Jc, kuya Jared and ate ganda are the best!!! Super accommodating. Every sunday there is a free dinner or they called it as a “family day” love it hereeeee! Super recommended, will gonna go back!!!
- Rochelle (8/5): Good value for money - Close to main strip, staff very kind, family dinner was amazing and good value for money My first night there were drunk people drinking in the common area until the early hours it was hard to sleep. The paths leading to it have huge potholes and are very wet and muddy and the tuktuk drivers at night all tried charging stupid prices saying it’s because the road is bumpy. If you walk you will get muddy. I booked an airport transfer with them it didn’t come but they arranged a tuktuk for me I made it to the airport with 2 minutes spare

(10/5): The best hostel I have ever been to! - I honestly can’t recommend Yellow Banana enough!
what started as a short stay turned into a full month, simply because it felt like home.
From the very first day, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of amazing people. The staff are truly something special, so kind and genuine that they quickly became like family to me.
The hostel itself is fantastic and has a great location in General Luna! clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The beds are super cozy, and the shared kitchen is fully equipped, making it easy to cook and feel at home.
One of the best parts is the community vibe. Twice a week there’s a family dinner where everyone eats together, plays games, and connects, all for free. Plus, there are different activities every day of the week like spearfishing, padel, and rock climbing, so there’s always something fun to do.
This place is so much more than just a hostel. it’s an experience, a community, and a home. I left with unforgettable memories and friendships for life ❤️
- Jon Villani (10/5): - After a mistake with my flight time I booked last minute an extra night. Staff was exceptionally helpful and kind, I was able to check in early, and they help arrange transport to airport when I departed. Bathrooms, but my frustration is with Filipino bathrooms in general. The lack of separation between shower and the rest of the space is something I don't understand haha
Eu amei minha experiência e super recomendo. Todo o staff é incrivelmente querido, obrigada ❤️ O meu quarto a porta fazia muito barulho :(
- Mirija (9/5): Social and Lovelyyy - The staff and volunteers are so friendly and engaging in socialising and activities! A spacious communal area, quite comfortable beds A little uncomfortable bathrooms because not so much space where to hang clothes and put stuff before shower
- Matthew (9/5): - Nice and quiet location but still not far from general luna
Comfy beds, privacy curtains
For the price you pay its really good value
Staff are the best part about this place, I will stay longer next time ☺️ Few small things could do with an update eg bathrooms

- savion (10/5): - Best hostel I have ever slept in
The best stuff I’ve ever saw
- Yasaman (10/5): Really amazing hostel - Such a lovely vibe! The people working there are so friendly and helpful. The Dorm was good, nothing special but got everything you need. They clean Everyday. The location is very central, but you need to drive/walk a little bumpy road before getting to the mainroad. The planned so much fun activities and i met lovely other solo travelers. I really enjoyed my stay here, i truly recommend!
- saurabh (10/5): Best hostel in the Philippines - Amazing hostel , feel like home I like everything
- saurabh (10/5): Best hostel - The best hostel I stayed in the Phillipines Perfect
- Laila (8/5): Most petfriendly hostel of Siargao - Even if the mix-dorm had 10 beds, I felt a lot of intimacy, silence and the bed was super comfortable.
Staff is really kind, helpful and friendly. They also care for two dogs and two puppies that luckily feel safe in this place.
They have community dinners and there is a very beautiful sharing atmosphere. Bathrooms and shower were not very clean by the end of the day. They clean them every day, but maybe guests may not maintain them too clean neither. Despite having only one shower, I did never had a problem to access either bathroom or shower.

- Cruz (8/5): - The staff at Yellow Banana are the sweetest and are so good at making the hostel feel like a community. They often host included family dinners and have events which make it super easy to meet people. Lots of mosquitoes
- Rosario (10/5): If you are traveling alone you want to go here - Had a great time here. The rooms were very comfortable, the ac was working well (not too high like in other places). They have a WhatsApp group we’re they share activities to do together, so it’s really great to meet other travelers and the staff. The common area is very nice and is speaking tochang out there and make friends Nothing
- Gaia (10/5): Best hostel I’ve been so far. - This is honestly the best hostel I have ever stayed in.
Jhaycee and Janice put so much heart and energy into everything they do, especially the activities and the family dinners. You can really feel how much they care. They will know how to take care of you.
The whole staff is absolutely adorable, kind, and welcoming.
This place is more than just a hostel: it’s a space for meeting people, connecting, sharing moments… it truly feels like a family.
When you travel, there’s nothing better than having a place that feels like home, and this hostel is exactly that. You’re always happy to come back at the end of the day.
I was supposed to stay only a week and now I just keep extending because it’s hard to leave.
Thank you Yellow Banana Family, I love you and you will be forever in my heart. 💛🍌 Too much love and fun 🙃

- Rosario (9/5): Everyone should book this! - The stuff is amazing, they make the environment very friendly, they organize family dinners and many activities. The hostel is great to meet people, and as it is not in the Main Street is quiet at night. They have filtered water to drink, they provide towel, the beds are very spacious and comfortable, they have big lockers to store the luggage. Overall very nice! They could have hand soap on the toilets, and the access road to the hostel is not good, but this is definitely not up to them.
- Kristine Jean (10/5): Your home away from home❤️ - I like all the staff there — they’re very accommodating. They really treat you like family. Even as an introvert, I felt so comfortable.
- Carmella Marie (10/5): -
- Ashleigh Rose (8/5): - Super chill, convenient and great food!
- Jack (7/5): -
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts are just amazing and make you feel home directly, love them so much
- Lachlan (10/5): Exceptional - Staff are friendly and professional. The keep the common areas clean, are easy to talk to and provide free dinner on Sunday and Wednesday, which creates a very homely atmosphere. Shoutout to Maruki for being so helpful and hospitable.
- Febrianty (8/5): Very good -
- Nicole (8/5): Little gem in Siargao! - Had a nice stay for 3 nights in GL. Dorm was clean and comfy. Good location near restaurants and bars but away from the noise!
The staff is very kind and I loved the family dinner. The road to the hostel is very bumpy and flooded when it rains (consider if you drive a bike)
- Morgane (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, nice staff Value for money (private room), common area is nothing special
- T (1/5): Bad -
- Danielle (8/5): Very good -
- Aljoša (10/5): 100% would and probably will do again - The staff was extremly friendly ( especially our friend Maruki ) and we really felt welcome because you would meet a lot of nice and open people in the common room so we really enjoyed our week there. Also the familly dinners on wednesdays and sundays were are were surprising and welcome edition. The only thing i would say is that the water in the bathroom sometimes had a bit o a weird smell.
- Edouard (6/5): Bohemian Surfer vibes, and all that it comes with - Wherever you go, there you are.
Let's start with the good - staff are attentive to issues when raised, and there is potential for meeting good people if you are a solo traveller and looking for mostly like-minded people. Siargao in general has a certain vibe, and this place encompasses it well.
That said, it's FAR from perfect (even for the private rooms) and the price is reflective of that. The AC is loud, and the bed netting often had to be reset. The island in general suffers from a number of recurring issues, including issues with electrical reliability, pests, frequent rain and high humidity and the hostel (which has a generator on-site) handles these issues as best they can under the circumstances.
If I was looking for company and value, I think this would be the place.
- Denise (9/5): Great social hostel - Loved my stay at this hostel, I had a private room, private bathroom and the room even had a small kitchen with burners and a fridge which is very convenient if you want to stay in. However, I cooked my food in the communal kitchen because it was more social. It is a very social hostel with great communal areas. The staff encourage people to socialize which is very nice if you are a solo traveller. They had one family dinner when the prepared food for everyone in the hostel + plus if you wanted to bring friends, all free of charge. And, even prepared food for two more nights after that for everyone to eat. I did love my stay here, if there are anything to comment about it would be the AC in the private room. It was super load so I couldnt sleep with it on. And as in many places in the Pilippinnes, I noticed, the room was pretty humid which made it "smell humid" as well. But it was just small things... everything else made up for it ;)
(10/5): amazing - I loved to stay there, its the best hostel Ive been to that far. Everyone sooo friendly and try to make everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The people are amazing and they even have a family dinner twice a week completly free!!!
I wish I knew it will be so good before, so I could extend for more!
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aoibhín (9/5): The friendliest hostel you'll stay in in Siargao - The staff here are incredible. They will make you feel like family in Siargao. Maybe the best hostel I have stayed in in the Philippines. A social hostel but not a party hostel which was perfect for me. The family dinners were always delicious. Comfy beds, good AC, a kitchen & fridge to use. I would book again for sure! Only one bathroom/ shower in the shared dorm which is a bit annoying but overall would HIGHLY recommend
- Patrick (4/5): - I had a bad experience in this place and decided to stay at another place instead.
- Emily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): The Best Hostel in Siargao, its Family! Thanks Jared and all the amazing staff - The Best Hostel in Siargao, its Family! Thanks Jared and all the amazing staff —kim teresa
- Ayla (9/5): Amazing stay! - The girls working in the hostel are the sweetest, they make you feel so welcome! Also the hostel dogs are amazing, will miss them all. Overall I really loved my stay here. The private room is nice and spacious, location is a bit of the main road so quiet but still near the main restaurants etc. There is a kitchen and fridge! The road to the hostel is a bit rocky and muddy, it will flood sometimes so when you want to go for a walk you need to go through water some days. The shower is in the middle of the bathroom so that stays wet too, something to dry it would be nice. Just a few small things though, I was sad that I had to leave and would definitely come back!
- Walter (9/5): Superb -
- Ela (8/5): Good place! - I liked that they had big lockers and curtains in the bed. They also had a lovely common area with good seating. You havd acess to a kitchen and they do family dinner which is so nice! Their showers was not as enjoyable, bad pressure, kind of dirty and bad drain. No where to like hang the towel or your clothes, but you made it work. Also no batroom rugs so the floor outside often got wet.
And even if people left their shoes outside it got real sandy on the floors, and they did not tidy every day.
- Carla (8/5): I would stay again (for banana, the puppy)!! :) - - the rooms are very comfortable
- we got offered 2 times in one week dinner for free- and it was so delicious!!
- the staff is great
- the dogs are just amazing
- social area is good - the bamboo makes everything a bit dirty in the room, the staff tries to take care of it (they really do their best) but the dust is just everywhere…
- the road to the main street is a bit rough (especially after rain)
- Kim (9/5): I had a great stay at the hostel, meeting so many lovely people and making new friends. The fun atmosphere, amazing staf - The people staying at the hostel create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, and I especially appreciate the hospitality of the staff. The family dinner is a wonderful touch that enhances the sense of community and connection among guests. It would be great if the shower head inside the bathroom could be fixed for a more comfortable experience. Additionally, addressing the flooding issue during rain, which causes the toilet to clog, would be highly beneficial. Lastly, managing the pests, such as rats running around the room, would significantly improve the overall stay.
- Joseph (10/5): - This had been my place for 21 days last December and big props to the staff for taking care of me and making me feel at home. The beds are comfortable, the restaurants and bars are close by and environment is chill. Shout out to Jared, Kristel, and ate Joy!
- Marine (9/5): Superb -
- Marine (9/5): Superb -
- Adams (10/5): Exceptional - My first night, the staff cooked up a traditional Filipino meal to share with all of the guests. The staff was all very friendly and lovely to talk to. The toilet in my dorm room clogged somewhat frequently, but this is not highly unusual considering local plumbing.
- Sarah (10/5): This place felt like home right away :) - We cannot recommend the Yellow Banana enough! It was our first time in Siargao and we were looking for something homey and comfy, with a good location close to the center of town. This place immediately felt like home. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome - they really treat you like family! They even helped us when we weren’t feeling well and needed some supplies when shops close by were closed after hours, heading out to get us what we needed by scooter!
Bonus points: the staff often cook dinner for everyone, and all the people we met there were friendly and sociable. You can also rent scooters for a great price directly at the property.
All in all, we definitely hope we‘ll be back - thank you for wonderful memories!
- Wenger (9/5): Superb - The staff is super friendly and made me feel at home. The location is good, 10 minute walk to all the restaurants and bars in General Luna.
Beds have curtains, light and a power outlet.
AC works perfect.
And ofcourse I fell in love with the hostel dog Bonana! Nothing
- Carla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samanta (7/5): I loved staying in Yellow Banana, the staff is great - The staff is the best part of it all, helpful, friendly and they make you feel like family.
The hostel is less than ten minutes walk from the main street with restaurants and shops.
The beds are comfortable and spacious The power of the shower but I think this is a common problem also for other hostels in the island
The beds being made of bamboo produce a lot of dust
- Sophia (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my stay at Yellow Banana! The hostel is newly renovated and beautifully furnished. The staff here is lovely and very helpful, I felt warmly welcomed here. The hostel is located in a nice and quiet area, but just around the corner from all the bars and restaurants in General Luna. I would definitely recommed staying here.
