• Brian (10/5): Exceptional - We recently stayed at the Allerdale Guest House for four nights and were made very welcome by our hosts Leigh and Mat. Our bedroom was of a very high standard matched also by the breakfasts which had a wide range of options from an extensive menu. Leigh is particularly knowledgeable about the local area and she was helpful in helping us plan walking routes available in the local fells. The location is quiet although still convenient for Keswick town centre - just a 5 minute walk away. Keswick is a popular destination and the private off street parking available for guests at Allerdale House is a real advantage. Highly recommended. There was nothing we didn't like.

• Claire (10/5): Such a fabulous stay at Allerdale Guest House - The location was perfect. Our hosts were so friendly but at the same time gave us space to relax too. The breakfasts were superb with plenty of choices if you didn't fancy the full English - loved the fruit pancakes! Also, their local knowledge to find off the beaten track walks was great. They thought of everything including the paper bags of individual cakes to take on walks. Thanks for a lovely mini-break. N/A
• Joanne (10/5): Perfect stay. - We were made to feel so welcome throughout our stay. Mat and Leigh went the extra mile to make sure everything was just right. Breakfast was delicious, and, together with homemade cakes, it set us up for a day of walking. Leigh was really knowledgeable and helpful about walks and places to visit. The room was very comfortable and spacious. We loved the unique boutique style, too. Would definitely recommend and hope to return as this is a perfect, comfortable base to explore a beautiful part of the world.

Even though parking was tight at times , the owners were great at communicating with other guests to facilitate space. Loved the different breakfast options. Loved the all access milk fridge. We thought this was a fab idea! Owners were very friendly/welcoming/they showed a genuine interest in your day and were very enthusiastic to help and support anyway they could. Parking being tight , but very greatful parking was available.

I loved the fact it was free of distraction, no children or pets meant my wife who looks after children and a dog got a real break.

We were upgraded to a bigger room for free and it was absolutely fantastic- lovely comfy bed and nicely decorated. • Fran (9/5): We had a delightful stay, and would highly recommend Allerdale. The compact space is made up for by the great attitude - Leigh and Mat are so welcoming and upbeat. Leigh is a fountain of information about the area, hikes, other things to do and see, as well as knowledgeable about directions for getting just about anywhere. There are plenty of breakfast choices for any diet. The facilities are charming, clean and mostly comfortable. Only hang up re the latter was the tiny size of the room. The room was charming but very small and the shower almost impossible for my 6’3” husband to move around in. Also, a minor quibble, but BYO hair conditioner and face cloth.

• Paul (10/5): Extremely comfortable and welcoming with superb breakfast. A very relaxing place to stay. - When we arrived Matt was there to greet us, help us with our bags and show us to our room. He also explained the time of the breakfast and asked us to let him know if we wanted anything different to the set menu. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well laid out with a comprehensive information guide and the wifi worked well. The following morning, after a good nights sleep we were greeted by Leigh who was extremely friendly asking what we wanted for breakfast, pointing out the cereal, juice etc. The breakfast was superb, very well cooked, well presented and very tasty. We were staying for the walking and Leigh clearly knows the area offering useful advice about the area and the different fells. She also provided cake each day which was very welcome with our coffee high up on the fells. In the evening it is easy to walk into town for a meal and to find somewhere good with recommendations from Matt and Leigh. As usual it rained on one of our days but it was great having somewhere to hang our wet clothes and leave boots to dry. In summary our stay was very comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent and we were made to feel very welcome, we plan to stay again! Cannot think of anything!

Mat and Leigh were amazing hosts, full of knowledge about the Lake District and as equally enthusiastic. The room was fantastic and very quiet. Mat makes the breakfasts and they are far and away the best breakfasts I’ve had. Freshly cooked and made with superb produce. • Danielle (10/5): Wonderful stay in Keswick - A beautiful place to stay. Our room was decorated very tastefully, with a gorgeous 4 poster bed which was very comfortable. The ensuite has been renovated tastefully and had a wonderful bath in it. Proximity to town was great and the owners such helpful & accomodating hosts. TV placement was awkward for watching, other than in bed?
