Guest Reviews
- yassine (10/5): - This is one of the best places I've ever stayed. Not only is the service excellent, but the family is truly wonderful and always asks about you. Their food is delicious, and they're always smiling. Honestly, it's worth the price for the service and everything else. The place is very clean and perfect for those seeking peace and tranquility.
- Axis (10/5): Peaceful stay with rice gardens. - Very simple place to stay with a beautiful view of rinjani first thing in the morning (wake up before its cloud covered)
The breakfast in the morning is also great and good value for the money you are paying. The owner was also able to arrange transport for us to get them from Sira Lombok and to arrange transport to Kuta and we rented a motorbike to go to the waterfalls and Sembalun
Also go to the sunset spot by the property to get the best view of rice terraces Nothing! Just note there is only a fan in the room

- viviane (10/5): - Lovely people, nice and calming place. 10/10 price for value. Go to the sunset point it's amazing. Clean and hot shower Would love to have something really comfy like a hammock or beanbag on the balcony.
You need to drive 20 min to Senaru, but that is the price I'm happy to pay for a remote and amazing place.

- Hesca (9/5): It was amazing , we felt so peaceful and the rice field is better than you imagine . The rice field is right at your doo - It was super peaceful and the Awan and his wife and son are very friendly. Nothing
- Suly (10/5): Awesome place where you can really unwind from your routines and find some peace of mind! - Very serene, scenic views overseeing rice fields. Very quite atmosphere with frogs and crickets in concert during the nights. Away from the business and noises from city life. Fantastic place!
- Beatrijs (10/5): A must go - Everything. The couple are sooo friendly. You really feel welcom! The surrounding is stunning! I liked everything.
- Jan (9/5): -
- Rémi (10/5): - Le personnel est très agréable les repas sont très très bons Merci encore à awan et nip pour leur bonne humeur et leur gentillesse !!!
- Hosley (10/5): - Lovely family with a great value in a peaceful spot. It rained, but oh well, its rice terraces and I needed the rest
- Klara (10/5): - Very friendly hosts, good food and nice comfortable huts with a great view on the rice fields and Rinjani. Perfect! Nothing!

- Andrew (10/5): All of our expectations were exceeded. I would not hesitate to book here again. - The food was fantastic! The owners are incredibly friendly. The Lombok countryside is stunning. Our stay was perfect.

- Kendall (10/5): Amazing people great stay 10/10. - Amazing stay great people.
- Annalisa (10/5): - Lovely property with great views of the rice fields and mt rinjani. The owners are lovely and very attentive, the breakfast is also great! The road leading up to it is quite out of shape and can be quite tricky on a scooter especially when it’s been raining, however this is out of the owners control and doesn’t take away from this stay

- Uwe (10/5): Perfect place for nature lovers and to experience local culture. - Lovely small place surrounded by rice paddies and vegetable fields with a nice view of Mr. Rinjani. Peaceful and really quiet at night, basically no traffic noise at all. The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly and create a family atmosphere for their guests. Good breakfast, dinner is available on request. Home-cooked local food, do not bother to go out. My room was basic but fairly new and spotlessly clean. Just be aware that the location is rather remote, so ideally come with a scooter.
- Stephanie Pei Ling Weber (10/5): - The hosts are very helpful & super friendly! They cooked fantastic meals for me! Even allowing me to host dinner for my friends!
- Samuel (10/5): Chill - Hôtes très gentils . Super cuisine . Très bons lits . Endroit super reposant « chill »
- Naressa (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location with views of Mt Rinjani and rice fields. Lovely meals, friendly helpful staff. Worth the trip if your looking to slow down and get away from the busy locations. Calm, peaceful and relaxing.
- Joseph (10/5): Perfect spot for a relaxed time - great food and lovely hosts - Amazing stay - thanks so much! Nothing
- Naressa (10/5): Magical, fulfilling stay, highly recommend - I loved the authentic experience of the accommodation located in a farming village overlooking rice fields and Rinjani. A peaceful getaway if your looking to connect with local culture and time away from the usual tourist traps.
- Leigh (8/5): Very good - The homestay is in a really beautiful setting amongst rice paddies with a view of Mount Rinjani. It's so relaxing to sit on the balcony of your hut surrounded by dragonflies and butterflies. I like that it's located just outside Senaru rather than in the middle.
The huts are basic but spotlessly clean.
Nip and Awan are a lovely couple who are working hard to build up their business and are happy to help you in any way they can. As an ex- woman guide, Nip's knowledge of the local area is spot on. Nothing
- Wiese (9/5): Happy customer 😄 - Everything was lovely. The local food I had was nice. Great location overlooking the rice fiels and good for sunrise. Loved the friendliness of the whole family, including their young boy. They were super helpful. Everything was as expected 👌🏼
- Cedric (9/5): Superb -
- Hilcikova (10/5): Wonderful homestay in the middle of the rice fielda - Great homestay, in the middle of the rice fields, if you are searching for some peace in the nature, this is the place to stay. The owners of the homestay make you feel like at home, Nip’s cuisine is simply delicious, from breakfast to dinner. You can rent a scooter from them to explore the surroundings and they are ready to advise you on where to go/ what to see. If you are a light sleeper, just pack some ear plugs, otherwise the sound of the nature is the best sound to fall asleep with. Def recommend!
- Iveta (9/5): Superb - Beautiful area with amazing Mt Rinjani views and the kindest family. The rooms were clean surrounded by rice fields. Nip made delicious meal for us too. Close to waterfalls or if you want to get to the mountains. Thank you so much, we loved our stay here 🙏
- Tim (10/5): A peaceful slice of paradise in Lombok - We arrived at Bayan Exotic Homestay and were immediately welcomed with warmth by the host. He showed us to our room and we instantly fell in love — nestled right in the middle of a rice field, where you can quietly watch people working the land.
After the busy chaos of Bali and the islands, this was the perfect escape into a calm, natural environment. We were also very hungry when we arrived, and the lovely hostess quickly prepared a delicious mie goreng chicken for me and a veggie-friendly version for my girlfriend (lots of tofu and tempeh — perfect!).
The room was clean, the shower was hot, and the homemade Indonesian curry we had for dinner was incredible.
We even forgot a night guard (dental retainer), and after we had already left, the owner messaged us and personally brought it to our next accommodation. Truly above and beyond hospitality.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay — we’ll never forget it! -
- Alexandra (10/5): Excellent! - The property was beautiful! It was the perfect place to relax after our 3 day excursion climbing Mount rinjani. The bed was SO comfortable and the room was clean and spacious. The view from the room was gorgeous and a great place to relax. Highly recommend having dinner there too, the hosts are great chefs. Breakfast was also spot on. Nothing!
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Perfect if you want to do the Rinjani trekking
- Janicke (10/5): Beautiful rural nature retreat ran by the most gorgeous little family. - Stunning, rural location overlooking rice fields, lush greenery and Mont Rinjani summit in the distance. The constant hum of crickets and the flittering of hundreds of dragonflies along with the scenery makes for a gorgeous nature retreat away from it all.
Nip and Awan, along with their lovely family, were lovely hosts and the homemade food was delicious. Nip and Molls took us in the most amazing trek across paddy fields, down through jungle, across rivers and up to Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls, as well as showing us and explaining about traditional villages and taking us to an ancient mosque. Nip was really knowledgeable about everything from agriculture, plants, traditions and history and we would highly recommend taking her up on her offering of this opportunity.
We will definitely be back if we’re ever in Lombok again. We didn’t do the Mont Rinjani trek this time but you always have to leave something to come back to do, right?!
Thank you so much for a memorable experience 🙏🏼
- Sagar (9/5): Comfortable, beautiful and relaxing - The location is just amazing!! It is over the rice fields and feels very private. The owners are so kind and always there to help you. Very lovely people. They made us some delicious dinner and breakfast! Loved it! The lighting could be better
- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jade (8/5): Very good - The hosts were super nice and took good care of us. No restaurant close but no need because the food she cooks is amazing Take mosquito repellent because there are a lot
- Olivia (10/5): Two cozy, quiet nights in this beautiful oasis before and after an exhausting hike :) - The local couple running the guesthouse are super lovely. They helped me set everything up for my spontaneous Rinjani hike and served nice breakfast and dinner (THE CURRY IS DELICIOUS). The place is very clean and cozy surrounded by rice fields. -
- Kerryn (9/5): Early days but will become a delightful homestay - Hosts are delightful. Setting is lovely with each room having a small terrace overlooking a padi field with Mt Rinjani off in distance to one side. Currently there are 3 pristine new rooms, independant of each other and all different in size, style and bathroom. We stayed in 2 - although small the layout of rooms is good.
Local homestyle meals were fresh and delicious, each breakfast and evening meal a different recipe, vegetarian or non. The Homestay is not quite yet complete (Oct '24) with access way to rooms precarious, some steps are too steep, some areas minimal lighting - not for those unsteady on their feet!
Overall, stay could be improved by having access to drinking water and coffee/tea in room/communal dining - and some guidance /welcome notes if no one is around when guests first arrive.
- Petra (9/5): Our most quietest accommodation in Lombok - Nice room with a stunning view with rice fields. Really good and big breakfast. We tried their dinner and it was one of the best curry in Lombok. You need a scooter but they rented it to us.
- Shyam (9/5): Beautiful homestay - Beautiful and peaceful setting with rice paddy’s and coconut palms right outside the room. The vibe and cleanliness of the bungalow, the comfort of the bed which also had a good mosquito net. Awan and Nip were great hosts. Good food available at the homestay. Such a memorable stay. The only small suggestion I would make is that it would be nice to have a fan in the room as it’s quite hot.
- Rosa (10/5): beautiful homestay surrounded by a breathtaking landscape and really nice hosts. - the food over there was excellent as well
- Nadine (10/5): Beautiful homestay - The homestay was in a very nice area. Surrounded by rice fields. The drive up there was also beautiful. You have a nice view on Mount Rinjani. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The owner is super nice and helpful. The food they offer is very delicious and the portions are huge compared to the Warungs. The little hut we were staying in was super nice and looked quite new. There locals around are also super nice. There was a ceremony going on when we arrived and they invited us to join. Felt very safe and welcome here.
- Bruna (10/5): Great experience! - Beautiful, clean, new bungalows in an amazing setting in the rice fields. It’s the ideal place to spend some days away from it all, immerse in an awesome nature. The couple who runs the place are so friendly, helpful and nice, we felt at home and will remember them and their son forever and just hope to go back one day…
It is good place to meet other travellers and have a chat over a delicious meal served in the terrace. Great atmosphere! We ‘d have liked to stay longer!!!
They have just opened and are still making improvements… there is not hot water yet, but they are planning to add it. It wasn’t an issue , anyway.
- Robertas (10/5): Great place with very hospitable family - It was very clean, great location to run and out and teke a rest into wild nature. Noise from the mosque.
- Renata (8/5): Lovely place run by helpful people, nice surroundings. - I loved the remoted localisation in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of rice fields! So lovely! But it’s necessary to get there b your own bike, otherwise it’s a bit tricky to move around. And the food was amazing! Somehow the light and also noise can easily get through the thin walls, not for light sleepers.
- Melissa (10/5): Beautiful Homestay in a lovely quiet location - Delicious breakfast included. We also had a wonderful dinner (extra pay) that was cooked for us by the owner.
Absolutely amazing, friendly people and very cute little boy who run the Homestay.
We loved the peace and quiet in the rice fields. Be aware that it is a more isolated location. We wished we had rented scooters to get around.
- June (10/5): Wonderful views in a quite and scenic environment - The host & his wife were really wonderful people, who helped accommodate us with our every need. We needed a driver, and they fixed it for us as well as a guide to visit the waterfalls. Since there isn’t a lot to eat or shop in the neighbourhood (except one little shop for drinks and snacks) the host cooked a wonderful meal for us as well as breakfast. The bungalow has the best view on rice and tobacco fields and the sunsets here, with the mount Rinjani in the back are truly mesmerizing. Nothing
- Rachele (9/5): Really beautiful local stay and experience - The family was very welcoming and they cook you dinner and breakfast! The view from the room is amazing!
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paola (10/5): Exceptional - It was the best place that I stayed in Indonesia. The room is simple but really comfortable, and the views are amazing and beautiful. The place is also really clean!. Awan, Nip and Sukma (their kid) were amazing, Awan showed me around the rice fields for free, and told me about local farming and local traditions. Nip was so nice to me and all the guest, her food was from another world, great breakfast, dinner and lunch. Sam (staff member) was also incredible too, he helped me organize my trip to Rinjani, and made my stay really awesome. Please come here, you won’t regret it!! Everything was perfect!
- Philine (10/5): Very special accommodation! -
- Dmitry (10/5): Great stay - Mountain view, a comfy bungalow with beautiful light in the mornings; lovely family who manages the homestay
- Kortessa (10/5): Great value for money in this peaceful and cute homestay - Super nice little huts in the middle of rice and peanut fields. It was really beautiful and peaceful to wake up in the morning and be surrounded by pure greenery. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Awan was super kind to take us to see the sunset from the rice fields, which was really pretty (highly recommend). The breakfast is big and tasty, as well as the dinner.
The property just opened a few months ago, so everything in the room is brand new and very clean. As they are still finalising parts of the overall property, I’m sure that it is going to look even prettier once they are done. We would definitely stay there again! Everything was nice!
If I had to give 1 suggestion, it would be to add a heater for the shower, as in the evening it gets a bit cold in Bayan/Senaru.
- Hoyle (10/5): Amazing location, great room and excellent hosts - Property was in a beautiful location overlooking rice paddies and with a view of Mt Rinjani. My room was comfortable and clean. Awan and Nip were amazing hosts and helped me with everything.
- Dominic (10/5): Great stay!! - This was a great stay full of warm hospitality.
The place is run by mr Awan and his wife. They have 3 newly build bungalows which are very nice and comfy, with great view on the ricefields.
Mr Awan and his wife previously guided tours through the Rinjani mountain / Tiu Kelep waterfalls. We asked them to please guide us which they did. We had a lot of fun!
At night we got the best home cooked meal of all Indonesia (very nice chicken / veg curry). In the morning for breakfast we got fresh banana pancakes (best in the world) and fresh cut fruits.
The most important thing for us as tourists is clean sanitary (shower / toilet) this was very good! It’s not something to dislike but something to be aware of, it’s a bit hard to get to the place by yourself. We hired a taxi driver but the roads are not that great. On the other hand, it is part of the experience ;).
- Greengrass (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Thanks! - Quality price -
- Hanna (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely stay in the beautiful village of Bayan. Could not recommend enough! Very clean and peaceful. The owners are very kind and helpful. They helped me with arranging for laundry and scooter hire. Will definitely be back! 😘
- Adelaide (10/5): Exceptional - The location is gorgeous!
Amazing, clean, comfortable room and bathroom, kind and helpful people.
I felt like at home!
Thank you very much 🙂
- Madeline (10/5): Amazing homestay - highly recommend! - Lovely homestay set into rice terraces. Super beautiful and private location. The hosts were extremely kind and welcoming - they wanted to make sure everything was perfect for our stay! They cooked delicious meals, were great to chat with, and even brought us into the rice terraces to watch the sunset! We would highly recommend this homestay! -
- Dumitru (10/5): Perfect place if you want some peace. - It was cute, clean, suuuuper quiet, middle of the nature, rice fields around the property, plenty of green, nice people in the neighborhood. Awan, his wife and son made my stay perfect. I had a great time. -
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional - Had an amazing experience at this home stay and would definitely recommend staying here. Nip and Awan were so nice and welcoming!
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The most authentic accommodation we had on our 5 month travel through south east asia so far. Nip and Awan just opened in April 2024 and have two very nice bungalows/huts surrounded by nature, which were just build in December 2023. So everything is new and looks amazing.
We stayed in the wooden hut which was so nice because the walls let air in the room and so it was always a comfortable temperature, even without an AC. The room is also equipped with a mosquito net but that was generally not a big problem.
But the best thing about this accommodation is definitely the lovely hosting family, who made us feel very welcome right from the start. They organized the Rinjani Trekking for us for a very good price and know a lot about the area there, as Nip used to be a guide at Mt. Rinjani. They also provide breakfast and dinner, as there is no restaurant nearby. So I would recommend you to have a scooter there to explore the environment around the homestay (e.g. the waterfalls in Senaru).
It's worth getting up early and admiring the sunrise from the terrace.
We are very happy to have stayed at this place and have got to know this lovely people there.
We‘ll come back!! -
- Janelle (10/5): MUST STAY!!! Loved it here - The cutest place in the cutest spot!! Absolutely loved our stay here, the bed was so comfortable too so we had a great night's sleep. We had dinner here (vegetable curry and rice) and it was absolutely delicious and one of the best meals we've had in North Lombok! The owners are absolutely lovely and make sure all their guests have the best experience staying with them. Nothing. Only that we wanted to extend another night and couldn't because they were fully booked!! 😉
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional - My friend and I had the most amazing stay with Nip and Awan, we only stayed one night but felt so welcomed by their family. Awan took us to see the sunset in the rice fields and it was one of the most special things we have done since travelling for five months!! The location is a little far out from the town of Senaru, however we easily rented a bike for the day and went to see the waterfalls. The room was lovely and had an amazing view, I got up for sunrise and you could see the whole of Mount Ringani. We had the best time staying here and would recommend to everyone.
- Chloe (10/5): Amazing location and hosts - 10/10 stay! Amazing secluded location with stunning landscapes and a view to Mt Rinjani when the sky is clear. Honestly if you just want peace and quiet to relax this is your place, easily just relax on your balcony with a book and the view. We stayed in the concrete bungalow, it was very clean and everything worked well - great shower, hot, comfortable bed, soft sheets and towels etc. The hosts are really really lovely, and their little son if so sweet! I wish them the best of luck with the future. They made lovely dinners each night for a great price. The concrete room does get a little warm so we had the window and door open most of the evening to try and cool it down, there is a fan but we find they just blow warm air around so we didn’t use. Surprisingly even with window and door open for hours we didn’t really get any bugs or mosquitos in the room so that was great. The family are saving for air con, I recommend they just install in the concrete room and not the bamboo hut. If I am being really fussy the jam stuff put on the toast for breakfast was not to my liking. I recommend you just serve toast and a pot of the jam for people to try and use if they like it, ate what we could because I don’t like wasting food. We hired a scooter and rode here, you will need one if you want to go anywhere all shops, warungs and restaurants are a ride away - the road leading up to the property is in bad condition, it’s an adventure, but go slow, and enjoy the beautiful surrounding fields.
- Chase (10/5): Exceptional - Located right next to some rice farms and had such a pretty sunset. The room is simple and doesn’t have anything fancy to it, but it’s got all you need. The host’s were so amazing to talk to and get recommendations from as well. They cooked the meals for us too, so that’s a big plus.
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay with Nip and Awan was short but really nice. We felt very welcomed by both of them. The room is directly at the rice fields with a beautiful view! Everything was clean and the food was delicious. We would definitely come back!
- Christine (10/5): lovely stay in the jungle with the best hosts - the couple running it was soooo friendly. the wife Nip made amazing food, breakfast and dinner. the husband Awan is so nice and helped us get bike rentals and shared his local rice wine with us. they shared stories of local traditions with us which was super cool. the location is soooo nice. it’s not far from the main road to the waterfalls and is secluded and is like a paradise in the rice fields and jungle. you can see the volcano summit from your balcony. they also run walking tours and can take you on a panorama walk nearby the property and to local waterfalls and sunset spots. I can’t wait to come back. there’s two rooms. one is a thatch house which allows air to flow through which I imagine cools down at night but ours wasn’t. so it was a bit warm at night however I open the window and the fan on and felt good enough for sleeping. they will be adding air con soon and make it that much better but I wouldn’t let it deter you as the property is so stunning and their hosting is truly unique.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Francesca (10/5): Incredible stay - Such a beautiful property in a beautiful setting, run by a lovely family! Highly recommend this place - it couldn’t be more perfect. Also the tour they run is really special and personal. When we first arrived they even took us to watch the sunset in the rice fields nearby just out of pure kindness. I will definitely return! Nothing
