Guest Reviews
- Tracy (10/5): - Location.
Staff.
Room
Continental Breakfast Having to pay full price for car-park.
No reduction for staying @ hotel
- Jill (9/5): Very enjoyable two-night break, very affordable. - Beautiful location and surroundings and view of the castle walls. Good adjacent public Pay and Display car park, £10.70 for 24hours, very reasonable these days. Very pleasant Continental breakfast, great Stokes coffee and tea. Five minutes walk to the Cathedral and Steep Hill and several excellent restaurants. Would recommend.
- Lesley (10/5): Delightful - Decorated in a kind of ‘faux’ 30s style with fabulous original art. Well appointed room, comfortable, big bed and a huge bathroom. Breakfast in a stunning orangery. Nothing
- Hollie (8/5): Great for one night - Great for one night, good location for walking into the city Breakfast was average
- Graham (8/5): Lovely hotel in an ideal location - Really good location right next to Lincoln castle.
Clean and comfortable accommodation. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which had lots of space for a family of 4 and a huge bathroom.
Breakfast was good.
Staff were friendly. The shower wasn't great - it was a huge overhead shower and it flooded the bathroom.
It was a bit noisy from the pub over the road
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely stay in Lincoln - Amazing location right next to the castle.
We stayed in the 2 bedroomed apartment and it was brilliant, huge, very comfy beds, lovely bathroom. Could not fault it at all. Breakfast was a bit limited but overall absolutely fine.
- Steve (10/5): Very enjoyable and comfortable - Interesting and historical property No free parking
- Derek (9/5): LOVELY STAY - ALL NONE
- Joanne (8/5): Excellent location for the castle & cathedral - The location was excellent, for getting to the castle,& the cathedral. My mum & dad are both 80, and have various health problems, so the location made the hotel perfect.
Also, the 2 double rooms we stayed in, were part of a ‘suite’ with its own bathroom; which was perfect. The only downside to the suite, was the shower. The shower was fitted in the ceiling, & wasn’t easy to control the flow. Even though there were shower caps, it was very difficult not getting your hair wet. Also, with the age of the property, the ceilings are high. I know myself,& a lot of people, prefer the water flow to be nearer their bodies: therefore, a choice of shower type is usually offered.
A cooked breakfast would be good, aswell.
- Mark (8/5): A great hotel in the heart of Lincoln - The hotel was easy to find and there were plenty of parking spaces available at £10.70 for 24 hours. The hotel is in a great location next to the castle and our room was lovely and clean. I was somewhat disappointed to find no bottled water in the room but, apart from that, had no complaints.
Breakfast selection was satisfactory and is served in the beautiful orangery.
Receptionist available from 7.30am to 9.00pm (after 9pm, entry is by key code) If the hotel could arrange discounted parking for residents, I'm sure that would be much appreciated.
Of note, breakfast starts at 8am which is perhaps a little late for weekdays. My wife and I needed to leave by 8am so I enquired if an earlier breakfast might be possible. Unfortunately, the hotel couldn't accommodate this so we ended up taking a sachet of porridge, a box of cereal, and a couple of breakfast bars from the orangery and taking them up to our room to prepare and eat.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Susan (7/5): - Location, very comfortable bed and breakfast was good. Room was too hot and noise from a fan outside our window kept me awake!
- Alejandro (8/5): - Great location. Easy to walk. Next to amazing tapas restaurant and coffee shop. Pubs and good vibes all around No AC so a bit warmer than usual
- Jonathan (9/5): Great location. Spacious. Quiet. Good breakfast - Great location. Spacious. Quiet. Good breakfast
- DAVID (9/5): Ideal for a short break. - Character. No signage from Union Street
Parking charges
- Stephen (10/5): Nice overnight stay - Location
- jo (10/5): - Hotel was in a great area, very close to the castle and cathedral.
- Mark (9/5): Lovely stay in Lincoln - The location was excellent, so close to the castle and cathedral. The Staff were friendly and professional. Felt welcome. The Breakfast was a buffet with good options. The bedroom and bathroom was spacious and clean. Super shower. Would definitely stay again. No lift and no econ, but fan provided. This in no way spoilt the stay.
- Carolyn (8/5): Excellent location and lovely staff. - The apartment was very spacious and well appointed . The location was good for the old town and parking was easy . There was a good choice for a continental breakfast . Unfortunately the pub across the road was very noisy but that was our only complaint.
- Rickbridge (8/5): - Spacious room. Good breakfast, better than I expected from a continental breakfast Needs blackout blinds or curtains in bedrom.
- joanne (8/5): - Superb location , lovely suite of rooms Hard to sleep as room so hot, but probably would have been so anywhere in the heatwave
- Tim Rielly (10/5): - The location is superb. Castle and cathedral are literally across the road. Car park is public but again outside your door. pubs and restaurants are again just across the road nothing
- taylor (6/5): Just ok. - Amazing location, lovely looking hotel, the one staff member we saw was nice. When I booked I stated I needed parking, it had parking in a public car park next door but and a cost of a further £10.70 which isnt mentioned anywhere.
We stayed over on a very hot day their was no fan, nobody answered phone or was around to ask for one and sash windows only opened slightly so being on the 3rd floor it was unbearable, and didn't sleep at all! Breakfast was ok, continental only. Replenishing was slow and only one person seemed to be around for the whole hotel so couldn't find anyone to check out. Sadly wont be staying again when we return to Lincoln in the future their are much better hotels that are cheaper in my opinion.
- Klaus (8/5): - Sehr gute Lage. Besitzt keinen Aufzug. Das Frühstück war sehr überschaubar.
- Vanessa (10/5): Well priced, centrally located hotel with great character and staff. - The location is fantastic, being right next to the castle. Whilst central, the hotel is set near a green space, which brings a calmness to it. The building is lovely and is well decorated, giving it a boutique type feel. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in a 2 bed 'apartment' which had views of the castle. Both rooms were roomy and comfortable. The breakfast was great and again the conservatory room, in which it was served, was lovely.
- sarah (9/5): -
- Ailee1984 (8/5): Lovely one night stay - Lovely location with cathedral view from the rooms
Staff friendly and helpful
Hot breakfast wasnt available in the restaurant however the staff were able to accommodate us and allowed us to order from the cafe opposite the hotel.
Everything we needed for a short stay in the room, nice size with two decent sized double bedrooms, and a large bathroom with roll top bath and shower.
Good size for a family room with kids
We enjoyed sitting outside the bar in the courtyard area and would stay again
- naedine (10/5): - Sally and Rachel were amazing and always went above and beyond to make my stay perfect. I cannot fault anything about my stay and will definitely return.
- Alice (8/5): We will be back for sure. - We loved the location, ideally placed for the castle and cathedral quarter. Our room (room 9, Chatterton) was more of a suite and had a great view! Very clean and you can tell they are taking care of the building (the windows were getting freshly painted when we were there).
Plenty of parking in the Lawns car park, you can pay just over a tenner for 24 hours.
We stayed across a very hot evening and slept with open windows and weren't disturbed by any noise. A fan was provided but equally it was just lovely to catch the breeze.
Breakfast included is a continental in the orangery which we did, but you can go across the courtyard to the Stokes cafe for what looked like a really good menu of cooked items.
We would love to return.
- Dan (8/5): -
- Norman (10/5): Our stay was amazing enjoyed every minute of it - Everything about the hotel was excellent could not fault anything really enjoyed our stay
- Niamh (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Great location, good value, fruendly - A brilliant location, right next to the castle. Easy parking, restaurants in easy reach (two within 50 yards), likewise pubs. Breakfast is fine - continental buffet. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Our shower was excellent Nothing
- Tony (9/5): - Everything Nothing
- David (7/5): Pleasant - Location. Nice breakfast. Room was adequate. Quilt was a little dirty
- Lisa (9/5): Just lovely !!!! - Beautiful building located right next to the castle, five minute walk into town but a bit longer to walk back as the hill is quite steep. Rooms were exceptional for the price, very clean and welcoming. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- James (9/5): - Fabulous room. We were not expecting a suite! Breakfast was basic, but there was plenty of it. The coffee was excellent.
- Jacqui (9/5): -
- Steven (9/5): -
- Craig (9/5): -
- Marshall (10/5): - Beautiful rooms Liked everything no issues
- Tracy (5/5): Ok, close to good amenities. - Situated in a beautiful part of Lincoln, close to where we needed to be. Our room could have done with a refurb however it was reasonably clean. The atmosphere was strange. Upon arrival I was told to shush by a member of staff. All I had done was ask to put my case away until the room was ready in a normal voice. I think people were on a course or something. Nonetheless I had paid to also stay there. I found it extremely rude. I found it odd that no one manned the bar also. I won’t be staying again.
- scott (8/5): Excellent apart from the limited choice breakfast - Not much choice We came down for breakfast half an hour before it ended and there was no choice
- Ian (7/5): - Great location and staff. Very comfortable with decent sized rooms. Parking was NOT included and requires 24-hour tickets for council car park, otherwise it's very inconvenient.
- Julia (8/5): The staff quickly rectified are above issues - Friendly helpful staff Unfortunately toilet not easily flushed at first but we discovered a technique and had to ask to stop dripping tap and usable soap dispenser in shower
- Cuth (8/5): - No cooked breakfast
- Catherine (8/5): Great hotel - The room was lovely.
Good choice at breakfast. Bathroom window slightly open, which i didn't see because of the blind.
Noisy outside that night.
- Sarah (9/5): The most beautiful hotel in a character setting. Quaint decor and impeccably clean. - Beautiful decor in a stunning location The breakfast although lovely could have been “topped up” quicker. A lot of the items were unavailable very quickly and not replenished. However a lovely selection when full.
- April (8/5): Great stay and will certainly return - Amazing location to visit all the site’s Lincoln has to offer We booked the apartment perhaps on the site the description should be amended to suite
Perhaps a mirror could be put in the second bedroom
- Jackie (10/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): - Room was beautiful and perfect location Breakfast was late being put out and not explained how things worked..
- Mark (10/5): -
- Warren (8/5): Fantastic location and great room. - Great location, nice room. Breakfast a bit limited.
- REBECCA (10/5): - Easy early check in
Large selection of continental breakfast
- Chris (10/5): - Excellent location, comfortable room and very good continental breakfast - although it wasn't replenished. Parking is expensive, intrusive TV noise from bordering room, late night (10.45pm) bar service wasn't a great experience - felt like an inconvenience.
- John (9/5): - Everything. The fantastic location very near to both Castle and Cathedral. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good continental breakfast. Nothing.
- Tad (10/5): Nice, quiet stay - Check in was a breeze. Nice sized room and well furnitured with a selection of coffee and teas. The hotel is on the top of the hill and Lincoln castle is across the street. The breakfast nice spread of meat, cheeses, pastries and cereal. -
- Mandy (9/5): - Great location for visiting the castle and cathedral.
Room was exceptionally large with lovely large shower. Gorgeous conservatory area for continental breakfast. The bar closed at 9 with no access to the art deco lounge which was disappointing. Also room wasn't ready on arrival after 3.30. Lovely recptionist made us a complimentary hot drink while we waited.
- Andrew (10/5): -
- Natalie Ann (10/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): A very pleasant stay in the centre of Lincoln adjacent to the Castle and close to the Cathedral. - Spacious suite on the first floor with triple aspect bedroom and four poster bed (room 6).
It was a chilly evening but the radiators worked well and heated up quickly.
Continental breakfast is available in the Conservatory and was perfectly adequate.
The hotel is opposite the western entrance to the Castle grounds and it is a five minute walk to the Cathedral.
There is a public car park right next to the Hotel which cost £10.70 for 24 hours. Would have preferred the tv to be in the lounge rather than the bedroom as there was nowhere to sit in the bedroom.
The decor (peacock blue walls and ceiling) is not to everyones taste.
- MARTIN (9/5): Would happily stay there again. - Excellent location and accommodation, friendly staff, good breakfast and great value for money. Hotel is situated within a pay-and-display public car park. The booking.com website indicates that parking is available, but omits to say that it is not free (although the cost is not outrageous, and the staff are happy to confirm the arrangements in advance). This was also the case for other nearby properties. Perhaps there should be some indicator on the website that, although parking is available, it is not free, and how far it is from the accommodation.
- Hendry (9/5): Very good . Would return - Location excellent Shower was a slip hazard
- Yvonne (7/5): -
- MPascoe (9/5): - Excellent location and staff very friendly Nothing
- Susan (7/5): - Location, bed, staff, food
- Ray (10/5): Nice relaxing stay with lovely staff. - The staff. Special mention to Natalie who gave us a complimentary bottle of Prosecco because we were getting married.
The room was superb. The location was perfectly placed for all the facilities in Lincoln. Highly recommended.
We will return. Nothing to dislike.
- John (7/5): Staff tried very hard, especially Natalie. - Breakfast was very poor, needs more thought.
Need more service, croissants on last day came out 30 minutes late. Attention to detail
Short staffed, especially on the bar, left door open so was very cold, radiators not on
- Sommer (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Good price and location, lacking in atmosphere. Could be much more vibrant. - Location and art deco vibe. Lack of staff (receptionist running the bar) bar opening times.
- Paul (7/5): Good location, good breakfast but let down by the condition of the room. - Breakfast was good, continental with a good selection, location was excellent for our needs. Room was a bit dated and could benefit from a refurbishment, windows rattled with the wind had to jam paper in to stop them.
- James (10/5): Bank holiday in Lincoln - Very convenient parking, great location, friendly staff, great sized room and bathroom and excellent value for money, pillows very comfortable Nothing not to like
- Jane (9/5): -
- Katy (10/5): Beautiful art deco hotel, great value for money - Stunning building, very much improved since we last stayed when renovations were underway. Many beautiful art deco features and lovely breakfast room extension. Warm welcome from Manager, huge suite, lovely continental breakfast.
- Susan (8/5): Comfortable and right where we wanted to be. - Beautiful decor and right next to the castle. Nothing
- Tracy (10/5): 10/10 thank you for making our stay in Lincoln perfect - Location was perfect with a court yard that had a cafe and a car park right by it. The 2 bedroom suite was comfy spacious and we had the best stay. Sally on reception and bar was so welcoming and made our stay even more perfect. We 100% would come again There was t anything we didn’t like
- Liz (8/5): - Great location Hard to get a drink at the bar due to a party came priority
- Ian (6/5): - The room was comfortable, good site / patio cafe. Dead atmosphere, didn't feel like a hotel..
- Margaret (9/5): - It was close to historic lincoln. The hotel was comfortable and clean, the continental breakfast was a good start to the day. The lounge/bar area was a lovely place to relax of an evening, we stayed midweek so it was quiet, cannot comment regarding weekends. The staff were excellent friendly and helpful. Its a step climb up from the main town be prepared.
- Kesia (7/5): -
- Lynn (8/5): We had a lovely stay with a really good breakfast included. - Friendly helpful staff, big room, comfy bed and lovely breakfast There was only one bedside reading lamp and the shower was slippery
- BigJD64 (8/5): - Great staff, lovely rooms and the continental breakfast was very good. Minor point, our room only had venetian blinds on the windows, at night it was quite light in the room, we like it dark. Curtains or roller blackout blinds would be better.
- Julie (8/5): - Great location for Castle and Cathedral. Hotel room was spacious and comfortable. We had 2 double rooms within our room with 1 bathroom. Drink making equipment included a coffee machine and tasty biscuits. Continental breakfast was included and served in the sunlit orangery. Cooked items were available at an extra charge by scanning a code linked to the cafe over the courtyard. Bar area had a lovely sitting area inside or tables were available in the courtyard...most with parasols. There's no lift so you need to carry cases up stairs. Car parking is payable...but car park is next to hotel...April 2026 24 hours for just over £10.
- Sharon (10/5): Comfortable and stylish - Stylish and central Nothing i don’t like, however.would have liked access to some bottled water
- Dawn (9/5): - Was in a great location, rooms were very big
- Primrose (8/5): -
- Christopher (7/5): Very enjoyable - Check-in / check-out very efficient
Friendly staff Noisy floor boards in room above, late at night
- Donna (9/5): - Superb location, staff so friendly and accommodating, bedrooms have everything you need for a perfect stay, please tell me where you get your pillows from 😃
- Donna (8/5): -
- Robson (6/5): -
- Anne (10/5): Charlotte Hotel,Lincoln - Very clean and comfortable, perfect location for local tourist attractions, ie.castle and cathedral
- Jo (10/5): Really helpful staff and great value for money. - Really friendly staff, great location and value for money, and a really nice continental breakfast.
- Lucia (5/5): Not the one if you like a good sleep - Good location Other guests checked in around midnight which woke us. There was also a constant banging noise throughout the whole night which could not be identified, sounded like an open door or window banging in a constant breeze. Also as there were no curtains but just Venetian style blinds, this made sleep difficult as lights on constantly outside were not blocked out.
Very little and poor sleep experienced. When we fed back to staff the manager stayed in her office to leave one staff to deal with us and breakfast, until we asked to talk to manager directly. Only then we got to speak to the manager who then weaponed my tiredness against me. Also, the questions around the gym use etc. before check in was tried to be used as argument against my feed back. So overall unfortunately an unpleasant experience and very unprofessional on managers part particularly. We received a part refund and a breakfast not clearly advertised it was continental only The manger did quote you ll only leave a bad review so viola here it is
- michael (10/5): - Great location, very comfortable and spacious room
- Michael (9/5): Nice break in Lincoln, hotel great will stay again. - Comfortable room, great location, lovely shower Nothing
