Guest Reviews
- Paula (10/5): - Great location. Quiet and peaceful watching the ducks on the pond. Very clean, comfortable and great well maintained. Home from home feel. Thank you very much. We will return. The bed is very comfortable.
- Melissa-Jane (10/5): Lovely retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle - The quietness of the place, made it easy to switch off Nothing really
- Magdalena (10/5): - Very good communication with the owner .Lodge its really nice, comfy,.full supply.
We had a very relaxing time and very beautiful moments, especially since we spent our anniversary there. With all my heart we recommend.
- Lillyliver (9/5): Ducks, quiet and relaxing - The lodge was lovely. The net book nook was amazing.
Bonus points for having an enclosed space outside so my 5 yr old daughter could play without escaping to the pond.
She loved the ducks, saw spring lambs and watched tractors working away.
The small bottle of milk in the fridge was just perfect since I forgot milk. A bit of signage would be great. I dont know the area so getting there was a wild stab in the dark.
Stairs up to bed are really steep so if your not good with stairs id give the heron lodge a miss.
Honestly thats about the only bad thing.
- Gemma (10/5): Hidden 💎 .Stunning location. - Loved everything about our little hut.
Facilities brilliant and location stunning.
Will be back.
Dogs loved it too.

- Angela (9/5): Nice stay in the depths of winter - We very much enjoyed our mid- winter stay. The lodge was lovely and warm despite frost and heavy snow.
The lodge was very nicely decorated and had a lot of character. The site is very close to an RSPB reserve, and we loved seeing huge flocks of wintering geese flying over. The resident ducks were also very cute!
The check in procedure was simple with the key being left in a box with an access code received before arrival. The lodge was small with no room for a proper table for eating, but this was a minor issue - we ate on the couch.
- tiffany (10/5): -
- Audrey (10/5): Absolutely lovely lodge, so peaceful - Absolutely stunning location. Host lovely, everything we neefed was there Nothing we didnt like

- Ellie (10/5): Perfect location and cosy for family holiday! - The location was amazing for us we were visiting family in Fraserburgh and it was a 9 minute drive there which meant close to lots of amenities. It was extremely clean, so cosy and lots of choice on the Tv. It had a lovely space for walks with our pup we will absolutely be back every year! N/A
- Bryony (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect. Will book again soon. - The location was perfect for peaceful getaway There's nothing to mention
- Helen (8/5): Great wee cabin quiet and cosy - It was peaceful cosy and had everything you would need, would happily book again The microwave is in a cupboard and floor level , not ideal, although there didn’t seem anywhere else to put it
- Tiana (9/5): -
- Wayne (10/5): Really enjoyed staying - Warm cosy and very peaceful Very peaceful and private
- Jenny (10/5): - Lovely quirky lodge, great location
Well equipped, Nothing not to like
- James (10/5): Such a lovely, tranquil place to spend time. - The lodge was absolutely beautiful, set in a peaceful environment that gave unbroken views of the countryside. All while being only a 10 minute drive from Fraserburgh. My partner and I can’t wait to return. Simply put, there was nothing to dislike about the lodge.
- Victoria (10/5): Gorgeous place to stay, highly recommended - The location and the cabin were just gorgeous. Couldn't have asked for more. Everything had been thought of, so there was everything you needed and nothing you didn't. Space for everything, everything worked well, clear instructions, good communications. Nothing (well, hot sunny weather would have been nice but Scotland is beautiful in any weather!)
- Emma (10/5): Fantastic Lodge - Nice cosy lodge, very detailed information book on how items work, cleaning and activities/sight seeing.
Absolutely loved the reading area. Louisa even text to check in with myself and said to message if I needed anything. Would definitely recommend. Absolutely nothing, thoroughly enjoyed my stay! Thank you so much
- Andrzej (10/5): - I can recommend this place to anyone who likes a little bit of remoteness while enjoying the comfort. We did visit Wildflower Eco Lodges in May this year and we were so satisfied, that we had come back again. Definitely it's our place now and we'll be back next year.
- Beth (10/5): Idyllic countryside escape with ducks for entertainment - The lodge is lovely inside, with the friendliest ducks, all set in beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside. It's well kitted out, has a seated decking area and has an outdoor fire pit area too which was a bonus. The glass door and windows overlooking the pond area were great and the wood burning stove kept us cosy at night. It's dog friendly and our dog loved sitting by the windows looking out. We loved the wee DAB radio in the kitchen too and the ground coffee for the French press was a nice touch. The only minor issue we had was the internal doors being quite noisy but that's because we had an 8 month old baby with us trying to nap/sleep! That was our only minor issue but wouldn't bother others at all.
- Murray (10/5): -
- Vickie (10/5): Great escape away - Lodge was as advertised home away from home for a tranquil escape Lodges a little closer together than anticipated and no fenced in areas for dogs to get a little freedom
- Laura (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay. The Heron lodge is well designed and has everything that might be needed during the stay, plus an absolutely amazing reading zone. The location is perfect for exploring the area. N/A
- Graham (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed and would readily recommend - Eco credentials, setting, layout and quality of equipment Nothing in particular.
- Denise (9/5): -
- Alicja (10/5): Beautiful place, quiet and peaceful - Absolutely stunning place in a great location for relaxing city break
All rooms looks very rustic but with a modern twist & beautiful wood pieces
- Catriona (10/5): - The lodge was fantastic. It had great facilities and was very comfortable. We had a lovely weekend
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Emma (10/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): If you looking to switch of from life this is the place to do it. Stunning lodge in stunning settings. Owners should be - Setting was beautiful. Heron lodge was stunning. Daughter loved the hammock. It added something different to a standard lodge stay. Had all the mod coms you could want.
Hosts were on hand if needed and left lovely welcome gift that was an unexpected touch.
Lodge was clean tidy and well presented wee seating area outside was amazing too. it is very bright as soon as sun starts to rise, black out curtains and blinds would have been great just, to allow not waking up at 6am 😊 coffee with the ducks made up for it though.
Is a preference thing though and didn’t ruin our stay at all. We will definitely be back.
- William (8/5): Very good - Had everything you would need and very well presented. Climb up to the bedroom, and the climb back down again.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - If you're looking for somewhere peaceful, this is a great place to stay. I loved Heron Lodge. The reading hammock is a lovely touch and for someone who wants to escape the world to write and read, it was just perfect. The lodges were also within easy reach of lots of places. I had a lovely walk round Aden country park, took a beach walk, saw a lovely sunset and just totally relaxed
- Mark (10/5): Our stay was very relaxed and great to have a short drive from everything, wildlife was great to watch. - Everything was amazing, the view out to the pond was spectacular. Nothing
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrzej (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my time there. The lodge itself is well equipped with everything one is needing. The lodge is in close proximity to a pond that is being visited by a local wildlife. The whole place is nice and tidy. The hosts were welcoming and helpful. I liked it all.
- Victoria (10/5): Quiet and Cosy with stunning views - Beautiful views lovely and private too and really warm and cosy with everything you need to cook and clean. Love the hammock in the room such a lovely unique touch. Bed mattress was supper comfy and the owners were so lovely and kind and accommodating Nothing to dislike really although I think we would stay in on of the other lodges next time as the bed area is quite awkward to get up and down from but that’s probably because we are both very tall 🤣
- Jim (10/5): Fraserburgh stay - The location was idyllic, and the cabins were well kitted out, comfortable and clean Only down side was the carpark wasn't that close to the lodge

- Izzy (10/5): Idyllic, chilled out getaway..loved it! - Stunning setting, so peaceful! Heron Lodge was really well thought out and super comfortable. Loved the reading hammock! So clean with great facilities and Dan (owner) very helpful. We only had 2 nights there!

- Jordan (10/5): Perfect and relaxing - We stayed in The Heron Lodge and everything was perfect! There was everything we needed and more. The bed was really comfy, smart tv and Alexa that controls the hammock lights and heating. Outside is the pond with lots of wildlife and some very friendly ducks 😊 the whole outside area is very well maintained. We met Dan on arrival who was very friendly and let us know if we needed anything just to ask. Overall we had a very lovely stay and would love to
Come back. Absolutely nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - I'm a return visitor to this site. It's very relaxing and comfortable. I wish there was a pub within walking distance. No ones fault:)
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional - Quirky cozy lodges in a perfect location. Minutes drive to a beautiful beach. Excellent communication from start to finish. Dog friendly too! Will definitely be looking to re-book when we come to this area. Absolutely nothing, couldn't fault the eco lodges one bit!!
