Guest Reviews
- Kylie (10/5): -
- alan (4/5): Very average - Location No milk for coffee, no sugar, no bin liner. No way to get water for coffee other than the bathroom.
- Janene (5/5): - Comfortable bed.
Good location.
Access instructions. No formal parking provided. Other guests' cars impeded direct access to accommodation.
Tea & coffee provisions were near non-existent. Old coffee remnants in bottom of jar were solid due to moisture. Twinings tea box was full of empty packets, bar 1 or 2 single teabags.
Milk in fridge was left-over pre-opened long-life milk.
Liquid soap provided was near-empty & diluted with water.
Room freshener was overpowering but expect it was needed due to pet friendly option.
But, the part that just cannot be overlooked or overstated was the condition of the microwave! It was very dirty, unhygienic and unfit for use. It needs to be cleaned before someone gets sick.
- Marc (10/5): - Beautiful and fantastic.
- Melissa (4/5): Sadly missed the mark. - The location of Mt Macedon is a beautiful part of Victoria. Unfortunately this was not an overly pleasant stay. It was only superficially clean - dust, bugs & spiderwebs all over the windows, floors, tables. The stench of Urine was awful - We opened the window & door, but it was constant - Think mens urinal. Coffee machine had old coffee dregs left behind & full of pods from previous guests. No Milk or sugar offered, even when we asked the response took 5+ hours & as we'd gone to bed, wasn't received until next morning. There was a drip of shampoo offered to use. The noise from the kids was constant & loud - I understand kids having fun & it's probably because the guest house is located 4-5m from the main house, but the thundering of running around felt like it was upstairs, but in fact next door! It felt like we'd turned up unannounced to stay & they'd rushed to set up what they could with little time. It's a Man Cave with a bed in it.

- Alysa (7/5): Beautiful Property but not perfect.. - Beautiful big room that feels very cosy. The bed is AMAZING with heaps of pillows. Lots of heating options. Plenty of places to sit and relax and a great smart tv which came in handy the first night as it was raining. It was a really easy walk (slightly uphill) to the local pub and a General Store. Check in was also very easy and the shower had plenty of hot water.
We loved the atmosphere here and really even though we have a few disappointments they are so incredibly easily fixed but seem to be overlooked as per many previous reviews. As others have mentioned there’s no milk of any kind or sugar for that matter with no welcome book to tell you where you can buy some (not that we should have too) as there was coffee pods and some tea bags supplied (a lot of the tea boxes were empty).
As others have also mentioned it’s concerning that if you use more than one appliance - toaster, kettle, coffee pod or microwave that it shorts the power out.
I would have loved some washing up liquid, even a tea towel, little tub to wash plates in (only option is shower or very small sink in bathroom.
We also had issues with a very loud possum or two in the roof and lastly there’s a lovely little front garden with a table and chairs which we were going to sit at to drink our coffee but discovered dog poo there..

- Brian (10/5): Fabulous country retreat for 2 and a dog - Beautiful place, walking distance from the cafe and pub, with the regional park on the doorstep. Comfy bed, lovely light with the high ceiling, and our golden retriever could come too. Would definitely stay again.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - This is a gorgeous property in a great location. The room was clean and the bed comfy. Check-in was uncomplicated.
- Judith (8/5): Very good - No breakfast available. Door swung open at night due to faulty catch and roof rat/possum in roof.
Loved the roof lantern and good heating.
- Strickland (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property and location. It was clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable!
- Donna (8/5): Very good - The bed was amazing - so comfortable. The shower was great and the room itself was stunningly beautiful. It wasn't as clean as it should be. The toilet was dirty, there was a slice of pizza in a box in the fridge with a half empty bottle of iced coffee. The floor needed a vacuum. There was lovely coffee provided but no milk.
- Christine (7/5): Good - Very comfortable and nostalgic with some historical memorabilia. My mission was to treat my dearest friend Luciano a beautiful comfortable weekend because he is was recently diagnosed with cancer. . .. if I can get another opportunity to stay one night again with him it will be a blessing only if I know that I can have a few things corrected for our next stay. No long life milk to make coffee on welcoming. Needed to at least make black coffee and unfortunately the coffee machine was leaking and had water following on the table and floor so no coffee 😔. Had to clean up the spill with bath towel. A closeable shelf could be provided for cup, glasses, bowls, plates and cutlery..not on top of microwave. Noted a few dead flys around kitchenware
so had to clean glasses and cups . No dishwashing liquid.
- Aaron (8/5): Very good - Great location and the the grounds of the property were very tidy. Unfortunately there was no airconditioning and the heat got a little too much
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (8/5): A great find for a few days away - A magnificent large room with bathroom en suite. The bed was super comfortable with lots of lovely soft pillows. Cleanliness 10 out of 10. Situated in beautiful gardens in Mount Macedon. We will certainly be back.
- Kristina (7/5): Beautiful dog friendly guest house. - Beautiful guesthouse, roses, looked clean, lovely selection of coffee, tea and condiments, great location, dog friendly. Comfortable bed and bedding. Great communication. Attached courtyard. There was no milk provided to go with the large selection of coffee and tea which I thought was rather odd. No slippers or bathrobes as promised in the inclusions. The electricity shorted from what I can assume was too many appliances off the one circuit breaker.
- Glenn (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): This is a wonderful place to stay if you're in Mount Macedon or nearby. - A beautiful property and experience.
- Matthew (10/5): Perfect cosy getaway cabin - Spacious, clean and within walking distance of the shops and pub. Perfect location for a weekend getaway. Wifi needs a booster to provide better coverage to the guest house.
