Guest Reviews
- Susan (9/5): It was good to experience how the people live in the jungle. Enjoyed seeing the animals. - All the food was good with fresh fruit and natural ingredients. The activities were good nd enjoyed seeing all the animals in their own habitat. Despite being totally covered with insect repellant and clothes I still committed by mosquitos- not anyone’s fault but for me it was a negative.
- Dewater (9/5): - Rustic and still very nice for a jungle cabin. They had everything we needed due our adventures so we were able to pack lightly. The food was so so good. They were also able to accommodate our family’s special dietary needs. The personal guide and boatman were amazing! We were able to pick what we preferred to do and set our own pace. We loved this experience! Shower didn’t spray very well. Also difficult to get clothes dry there so pack accordingly.
- Eleonora (10/5): Exceptional - The staff are exceptional. My guide Joel came and picked me up from the airport and took me to the lodge in safety, which is approximately 2-3 hours travel. During my stay I felt completely safe as a solo traveller. The food was fresh and amazing every time with freshly made juices from local fruit in every meal. The lodge is beautiful and the rooms feature your own balcony with an incredible view. Regarding the facilities, the lodge is located on the river and is built with natural materials, so of course, expect to see insects. You are in the jungle after all! The mosquito nets do a really good job though, so I didn't have any trouble sleeping. Expect to hear wildlife noises from your room, although I quite enjoyed waking up with the sound of birds every day.
The activities were super organised, and they offer a big variety for day and night experiences. All of them are wildlife experts, you get a personal guide, a personalised tour and a boat driver at all times. Don't forget to tip your guides! They will totally deserve it as well. They try their hardest to make your experience an amazing one! If you are crazy about wildlife, I recommend Joel. He could spot all sorts of animals from a distance, so I got to see a lot of different species. Both, with Wilson, the canoe driver, they had amazing coordination. I totally recommend the lodge and I would do it all over again. When you get there, you will see there are other lodges as well, which seemed to target tourists more, but not sure either. I am happy I chose this one and got to support their community!
- Jack (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Zhe (6/5): Great experience but be aware of the living condition - The location was amazing, everyday there were activities you can choose in the morning, afternoon, evening. You will have a dedicated guide and a boat driver to take you for amazing activities in the jungle or on the river.
The meals were very tasty with fresh juice every meal. I think this may be a little unfair as it is such a fantastic place with all the amazing activities that you wouldn't be able to do anywhere else, but this is how I felt..
The mattress was dirty with dead bugs lying on it. So when there is only a thin bed sheet on top of the mattress, it took me a long time to sleep for the first night. There were frogs coming out of the toilets. Even though I knew there was no air con, just be mindful that you will be sitting there sweating as it can be 30+ deg C in the room during the day. A nice cold shower actually helped after each activities, but sometimes it was muddy water coming out.
- Stefanie (10/5): Great adventure lodge - It was great because we had one tour guide (Miguel) taking care of us the entire time. From pick up to drop off and we had so many great outings and adventures thanks to him ! I can really recommend this lodge. Food portions were sometimes a little small and some more fruits would have been nice
- Jessica (10/5): Once in a lifetime - This is a very special find. With the booking you get your own guide and you choose what activities you do in the day // evening. You have a 5* breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as tea, coffee and water whenever you want. We had the most amazing guide Remi who was so knowledgeable. I had a bites all over and he got some natural remedies for me and the bites went down very quickly. This property also gives it’s proceeds to libertad village to send kids to school and people to the hospital if they need it which it really cool! The vibe is social if that’s what you want or not if you want to keep to yourself. We had the most amazing experience here and will recommend it to anyone who is going to Peru.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - My guide Larry met me at the airport and we travelled to the lodge. Although it was 3 hours time went fast watching the landscape go by.
It was dry season for my visit so unfortunately the river way very low and the lodge was not on the river as per photographed on booking. I do wish this was explained.
Otherwise i had an amazing 5 days. The accommodation was clean, the food was ok. It was different everyday but simple.
My guide Larry was exceptional. His knowledge of the jungle, outstanding, and his English was perfect. We made a plan on arriving for what it would like to do in my time. Highlight was the caiman night tour and lily pads.
- Hannah (8/5): Great off the grid experience. - Considering the environment, this was a good place to experience the amazon. Local food, people, and a safe area. Sometimes it's tough to sleep at night because the wildlife is loud if you're not used to the area. Some of the windows screens had holes in them and could be repaired.
- Thomas (9/5): Amazing stay, a truly rustic experience in the jungle! -
- Samuel (10/5): Best Experience! - Gumer was a wonderful guide, a true Amazonian and he made the experience unforgettable. The Lodge includes many activities from jungle excursion to fishing in the amazon river. Perfect for 3/4 days. This is a very warm and friendly village with amazing surroundings, confortable rooms and excellent, well prepared fresh food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to Gumer we saw and have great photos of monkeys, sloths, caiman, snakes, tarantulas and lots of dolphins. My wife and I couldn't be happier with our choice of stay. Thank you again to everyone at Libertad!
- Cevia (10/5): Excelente -
- Olof (10/5): Amazing experience, not just a hotel. - This is more of an experience than just a hotel. You sign up for a place to stay and a private guide, and from that moment on, you're going to see a lot of the Amazon rain forest in its various forms. Included are also three meals in the restaurant, the latter of which are also part of the experience - you get introduced to a number of tropical fruits at least I hadn't heart about before, and things are put nicely together. As part of the trip, which you negotiate with your guide, you can go fishing and then have your catch cooked. We did this with catfish and piranhas (yes!).
Our guide Larry was amazing. Very knowledgeable and attentive to any changes in the plans (especially since we're traveling with our child). No hot water in the shower (though this was OK most of the time since it's so hot outside). Electricity is available in the evening between 6 and 9 PM. Since this is the rainforest, be aware of big insects and arachnids getting into your room. :)
- Cassandra (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Gwen (9/5): Superb -
- Delaney (10/5): A must do in Peru! - This was a once in a lifetime experience and libertad jungle lodge exceeded our expectations. Our guide was Manolo and our boat driver was Raul, and they were both so knowledgeable about the jungle and gave us a true Lu unforgettable experience!
