Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): -
- Ruth (10/5): Very comfortable stay, staff lovely, food exceptional. - Very clean and comfortable, very helpful and polite staff No lift
- Barker (8/5): - Verry nice place to stay only issue was our door wouldn't open properly but apart from that everything was excellent
- Ruth (10/5): - The property is very tranquil. The rooms are comfortably laid out with what a traveler might need. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Dining and lounging was very good and convenient.
- Dave (6/5): - Its a lovely old house. The staff were pleasant and helpful The toilet had been used and not flushed. The tv was not working. Previously the rooms had a fridge but have been removed. There was no airconditioning ( it was a warm night during the May heatwave). The breakfast spread did not compare well with other places we use ( all at better prices) though the cooked breakfast was fine. All in all, in comparison to similar establishments that we use, it was overpriced.
- Claire (9/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Superb hotel with excellent staff - Perfectly located in a quiet and peaceful setting. Nothing to dislike but could possibly benefit from a refresh.
- Tracey (8/5): We enjoyed our 3 nights at Farington Lodge . It was close enough to Preston but felt tranquil set in beautiful gardens. - We liked the old fashioned style lodge . The breakfast offered a lovely selection & it was nice to have a bar facility & evening meal if required. The gardens were lovely .
The staff were all very friendly & welcoming . No air conditioning, or ceiling fans . We arrived during a heat wave so it was very hot in the room .
- Tracy (10/5): Used this hotel as a stopover driving back from Scotland, really useful location and very comfortable - Warm and welcoming staff
Comfy bed
Lovely breakfast Air conditioning could have been better

- Patrick (7/5): Prijs/kwaliteit in orde. - Goed ontbijt met keuze uit een menu. Zeer vriendelijk personeel! Hier en daar was wel nog wat stof terug te vinden op de kamer en geen dagelijkse poetsbeurt, enkel op aanvraag.
- Mark (9/5): Lovely building, comfortable room, good food & very good staff service - thank you -
- dennis (8/5): Will see you again soon -

- Linda (9/5): Very comfortable stay after a long drive. - Beautiful building, well maintained and comfortable stay. Delicious evening meal and breakfast the next morning. Very helpful and welcoming staff. Nothing to dislike!
- SNe3 (9/5): Impressive location with flair and tradition - Real nice hotel with tradition. Fantastic location. The room was spacious, clean, all amenities available. Also the bath was OK, which is not always self-understanding in old buildings. Good service, very supportive and friendly staff. Plenty car parking space. Would always come again.
- Peter (8/5): Pleasant surroundings, polite attentive staff. - Quiet. Pleasant surroundings. Room doors that don’t close quietly. Guests returning to their rooms late slam door. Most hotels have this problem.

- mike (6/5): Probably would not visit again - spacious, noise from a compare late at night. must have been in a function room.
try filling up the kettle from the tiny sink
- Daniel (9/5): Nice country-esque hotel a short walk from Leyland station! - Very nice hotel located a short (10 minutes) walk from Leyland railway station, so in a great location. Bedroom and bathroom were very spacious, and impeccably clean throughout. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was a continental buffet with ordered hot food, so minimal waste and was cooked fresh to order. Nice bar/lounge area as well if you wanted some casual drinks/food. Outdoor area was also a nice plus. Really not a lot. Decor was a bit 'dated' in places, but as it's a grand old building, it has been lovingly maintained.
- Monjer (9/5): -
- Carolyn (7/5): - Room service Nothing
- mary (9/5): - Excellent staff Comfortable surroundings.
- Slattery (10/5): - Its just a home from home, albeit a much nicer home! No dislikes
- Enlli (10/5): Great stay - Great location close to motorway, lovely building with generous size family room, very comfortable. Staff very kind, polite and attentive. We chose to have an evening meal, staff went out their way to accomodate our 2 year old, food was very good and generous portions. Highly recommended, would return.
- andrew (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was very nice and the room was clean and perfect.👍 Nothing
- Phil (7/5): A little quirky (as expected, and no criticism of that), clean and comfortable. - A nice setting and quite convenient for the M6 A couple of bottles of water in the room would have been appreciated. (There were wrapped plastic glasses in the bathroom, but one doesn't know what the local water is like to drink.)
- Ruth (8/5): -
- Joshua (10/5): - Everyone was lovely and helpful. The rooms were comfy and comfortable, beautiful property
- Ishmael (8/5): Excellent. Would happily stay again. - Located in a lovely area. Rooms were very well appointed. Staff were all very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them.
- Shereen (9/5): - Love this hotel, I have stayed a few times and it's consistently great.
- Kathryn (9/5): Nice place nice staff food was nice afternoon tea was delicious - Very nice and quiet the place was in a nice garden settings staff were nice food was delicious breakfast was nice and hot No lift found the stairs hard work due to my own medical problems
The coffee was to bland need a choice of diff coffee
- Pablo (10/5): A place for peace and comfort. - The property and the surroundings were very quiet. Interior is nicely decorated and lots of places to sit and relax with a good atmosphere. It included a very good sit down breakfast. Staff were superb! There was no lift, which you need when travelling with a baby. I should have requested a ground floor room when booking.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent location Nothing
- Ann (9/5): -
- Eugene (9/5): Great place to stay with pets - Good breakfast, especially they look after your pets Room a bit grubby, carpet with various stains
- Julia (8/5): Pleasant, clean and lovely staff - Nice friendly staff Their wasn’t anything I did not like, but I would advise you do not stay in room 15 my friends stayed in there and there is very noisy water tanks overhead, they got no sleep
- Justin (8/5): -
- Jayde (8/5): -
- RUSSELL (6/5): -
- Hilary (10/5): Comfortable stay in a characterful property - Lovely character property with a rich history. Staff are all friendly and it feels like home from home. The location just off the M6 made it perfect for visiting relatives.
- A.Charlesworth (8/5): - Lovely old build lots of character.
Beautiful grounds.
Friendly helpful staff so kind nothing too much trouble.
Extremely clean rooms & a good size.
- max (10/5): Very restful little oasis set in beautiful grounds - What a great small hotel, a jewel in Leyland/Farington. Loved it last year when we stayed and would definately stay again next time we are in area. Spacious room in friendly hotel set in lovely grounds. The shower is a bit small as we pointed out when we were there. Meal was a bit disappointing with little taste in Dill sauce, certainly not up to standard of last year, has the chef changed? Neither slight criticism detracted from our stay nor put us off returning.
- Julian (9/5): Great stay - Staff very friendly and helpful. Had to walk up a down flights of stairs to exit the building.
- Scott (10/5): -
- Adrian (9/5): Great location with attentive staff - The location was perfect for our needs as we were getting the train to Preston from Leyland station which was only a ten minute walk Some improvements to small items like a wobbly toilet seat
- Albis (10/5): The staff were fantastic. So helpful and polite from checking to serving drinks and food. The room was very spacious and - Lovely friendly staff and good food Nothing as everything was spot on
- John (10/5): Top class, really enjoyed it -
- Sean (10/5): Credit where credit is due - Nice traditional building, it's like walking into a manor with all the classic décor and high ceilings. The staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. I was attending a private dinner with my family for a 50th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent. Everyone in our group was very happy. The service was perfect. The room set up for our meal was perfect and looked grand. I really needed a drink of water at night. I wish I had a bottle of water. Unfortunately the cold water tap was hot due to the heating being on.
- David (7/5): - Bar manager was great, food was just ok. Food!
- Jacqueline Charles (9/5): -
- carole (7/5): -
- Charmaine (10/5): A wonderful stay at a friendly place! -
- Lee (8/5): Very enjoyable, will look forward to staying again! - The property and surrounding landscape is beautiful with majestic trees. The dining room was perfectly arranged, with a decent atmosphere and background music. Breakfast was really, really nice. Also had a lovely evening meal. ALL the staff are a credit to the hotel sector, and really attentive and enjoy looking after you. The room (15) was a good size with everything including coffee etc. The room was quite airy as the original Georgian sash windows don't yet have the hidden integral seals or brushes that can be fitted, so let in cold winds and noise, and lets out much of the heat during the night. A "snake" draught excluder between the top and bottom sash would save a fortune in heating and make the room feel warmer.
- Peter (9/5): -
- Alex (6/5): Good for the wedding at the event, wouldn't stay here for another reason - Breakfast included Not clear that the booking was not pre payed
- Albert (10/5): -
- Nadia (9/5): Wonderful staff, stunning location , highly recommend. - Friendly service.
Beautiful location and building with grounds.
Excellent decor and attractive design. Could have small fridge in room and better tv .
- John (4/5): Tired and in need of major makeover - Good location for where we needed to be, staff were helpful and breakfast was a little haphazard but good and the gardens were very pleasant Bedroom was not clean and bed was small and not comfortable for a couple
Windows did not open not allowing any air to circulate especially on a warm or stuffy evening
There was a step up to the bathroom which was difficult to negotiate especially for older persons during the night
- Lamont (5/5): It's a repeat stay - staff overstretched so they couldn't serve bar customers, i will return - The breakfast has a number of options and was served well This company has a dreadful habit of inserting a 'service charge' when you receive your bill. It means you have to alter your approach and there is a sense of unnecessary embarrassment.
They have adequate rooms but bizarrely only place two small pillows on a large bed which makes it look like someone has borrowed the other two pillows for another room
- Daniela (7/5): - Location. Food
- Chris Wood (10/5): Really good - I was given an upgrade without even asking. The staff are very friendly and professional. Great breakfast!
- Lynne (5/5): -
- Shereen (10/5): - Absolutely loved the place and the staff are so friendly Can't think of anything
- Paul (8/5): Great spot - Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Good breakfast Breakfast could be a bit later for leisure travellers.
- elaine (10/5): Lovely place, stay here whenever in the area. - The staff in the hotel are superb Although the overall cleanliness was excellent, there were stains on the carpet by the bin in the room we were in this time which were off-putting.
- Kaz69 (9/5): A lovely Birthday stay! - We love the location, it's absolutely perfect for visiting family. The hotel itself is beautiful with lots of lovely features and grounds and parking. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts are very nice. A fab place to be to celebrate my Birthday with family with a lovely side room all to ourselves. We'll definitely return.
- Jen (9/5): Friendly staff. Very good breakfast. - Friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Thank you.
- Alasdair (10/5): Fantastic hospitality - Fantastic hospitality and very dog friendly. Grounds were good for walking dogs. Food was good and they were able to cope with our dietary requirements.
- Mark (8/5): Great stay as usual, the staff are great and very helpful, rooms are comfy - Breakfast is great but finishes a too early during a holiday period The pillows are horrendous
- Rich (7/5): -

- Stani (9/5): Lovely place - Lovely place. All staff were realky nice and fruendly.
- Malcolm (10/5): Perfect British hotel. - Beautiful set and great location. -
- Katie (10/5): - Beautiful Nothing it was lovely
- Nyo (6/5): -
- Michelle (8/5): Just what we needed. - Room clean, food lovely. Cannot think of anything
- Judith (8/5): Perfect stop over - Great value for money. Location was great for our needs. Traditional style hotel. The grounds were lovely and the whole place has a welcoming feel. Friendly staff. A little dated but it wasnt bad. More old fashioned than worn out but that was also part of the charm. I felt it was a shame that it was utilised to its full potential
- John (8/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Extremely comfortable - Although built in 1830 it’s worn very well. Rooms are huge , warm and comfortable. We would certainly recommend it. Only downside is no lift. So it was a bit difficult as we are at the older end of life . It wouldn’t put us off staying again.
- Kerry (8/5): Fantastic place to stay. Great value for money. Would definitely stay again. - It was a beautiful property but a bit tired. However good value for money. Staff super helpful. Accomodating a pet was a bonus. Not a lot really. If it was updated a bit it would be an amazing property.
