- Tiara Kim (3/5): Not pleasant , with a rude host - The view in terms of where the actual room is located other than that nothing to brag about We arrived on the 26th after a long drive from Johannesburg and couldn’t wait to
check in. From the time we arrived everything went wrong!
Check in times anything from 13:00 onwards , upon arrival we waited for 45 minutes in the rain, 20 calls later and no answer. We received a call only after 15:00 and the WhatsApp message with the code at 15:12. This was the start!
Grace was super rude and wanted to cancel the accommodation. She raised her voice to my daughter and then when I spoke to her she was very rude to me as well. All her WhatsApp exchanges were cold and when we enquired about the WiFi she used words like obviously the previous people used all the data. Why advertise for something and it is not available. Advert says complimentary water in water in the fridge and there was nothing.
There was an open door toilet with no doors and not a drop of air freshener in Clavia. No one checked in on us, no towel change until we asked. Both Clavia and Aggie had stains on the linen.
The WiFi never worked until the second day only after begging for the WiFi as we had to work. All of a sudden a new code was as given to us after at 9:18 and we start work at 9:00.
We spent an arm and a leg for data but this was not Graces issue in the least!
The price that we paid was not worth it, we were forced to leave and spend all day with my sister at another accommodation.
- Mbalenhle (10/5): - The view is so refreshing
- Nomusa (9/5): Perfect stayover. - The location is simply amazing. If you are looking for time to yourself in absolute tranquility, this is your go-to. I think an insect repellent in the room would have made the experience so much better; those mosquitoes are forever hungry!
- Sifiso (10/5): - The view Nothing
- Ivo (6/5): - There was no stove💔 provide a stove some people prefer to cook, the fridge is very small💔 provide a larger fridge for people who are gonna have longer stays, bathroom must have a door since it’s closer to the kitchen.
- Qiniso (8/5): Good - Property was just perfect. So peaceful. if you looking for a place to forget about the city n just be yourself. i will advise you to try it. Rooms are not that spacious if you have lot of luggage you may have a problem.
- Pinky (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peggy (9/5): Our stay was pleasant and relaxing. This place is perfect for a family looking for bonding time. 🫶🏽 - The property is beautiful, it feels warm and homey. We booked the main cottage and it is very private and spacious, with lovely views, there’s even a waterfall in sight, just looking through the window. We didn’t feel like we were in a hotel but the space became our own.
My husband enjoyed the easily accessible Braai stand and we roasted marshmallows with the kids and they climbed the tree in front of the yard. We also enjoyed walking to the view deck and watching the sun set. The view deck has amazing views and the aura is serene. I would have liked a daily change of towels.
- Eva (8/5): We had everything we needed. - Location

Comfortable bed Pillows
- Charmaine (8/5): Very good - Bad wifi reception - no bathroom door
- Samora (7/5): Good -
- Ncebo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sameera (10/5): Loved this place, 10/10, don’t think about it book your next staycation here🥹😍!! - It was stunning! Loved the views and tranquility of the place. The cottages are cozy and have all the essentials. It was lightly raining during our stay so we couldn’t explore the hiking trails much but we did get to see the dam which was lovely. Nothing, loved everything.
- Lhune (8/5): Fabulous stay on a tranquil farm - The view from the room is spectacular. The gorge is stunning. Its a very peaceful, tranquil place on a picturesque farm. There are lots of trails and great little places to visit around the area, so lots to do. The room itself is very comfortable. Very nice shower with great pressure. Good security as well. This place was good for my soul and we had a lovely time. The rooms are well set up for shorter, leisulery stays, and not for longer stays or self catering holidays as it only comes with a very small fridge, and there is no stove or oven. To be fair, it is not really advertised as being suitable for self catering though, so its not really an issue for the hosts to address, just an observation if thats what the reader of this review is planning.
Also, lots of mozzies that laugh in the face of a can of Tabard. I anything, the Tabard made us more delicious. Bring a mosquito net in summer. (This one is obvuously Mother Natures fault, not the host) :)
- David (8/5): It was a good experience, the place isnt far from shops and beaches around. - The location was very good, quite, surrounded by nature, will definitely come again Everything was fine, there isnt anything that i can complain off.
- Stemmet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruan (9/5): Superb -
- Mahasha (8/5): Very good - The view
- Andrew (8/5): This Rustic get away has breathtaking views, but is poorly equipped for self catering. - The views were spectacular and perfect for a quiet get away. The place is Rustic, very clean and neat. I loved the benches in the garden overlooking the picturesque valley. There are great trails on the property which one should explore to get the full benefit of the natural surroundings. There is ample parking This is a RUSTIC setup, The fan was sufficient as it rained the whole time, but as you close the doors and windows to keep the bugs out, it gets very warm. It indicates aircon on the site, but the unit does not have aircon. The kitchenette is extremely basic, only a microwave and nothing to actually cook with, so self catering is a huge challenge. The deck has an amazing view, but has no divisions between the other 2 units, so for someone like me who loves my personal space, sitting on the deck in full view of 2 other couples in “my space”was not ideal. Although there is Internet, service was only ever at 1 bar and seldom available, so we as well as the others had to use our own data. The 1 km private dirt road stretch to the main gate was not great for our low vehicle with all the mud.
- Thembelihle (10/5): We had an awesome time at the farm and enjoy our mini hike on Saturday morning. No activities for the kids around the pl - The location and the views surrounding the farm are exceptional. Nothing
- Snenhlanhla (10/5): It was an amazing stay, very clean very cosy and not to mention the host Grace was very kind and helpful and I wished I - For starters i love the Serenity of the place and the cleanliness is very immaculate. Nothing, however i do wish there would be a door by the bathroom
- Dickie (4/5): Disappointing - Nothing Everything
- Ruth (10/5): We enjoyed our time, wish we could stay longer - Everything we needed was available Nothing
- Zondo (8/5): Enjoyed my stay! - Views
Comfort Please consider to have a door for the bathroom/toilet
Please consider cleaning + emptying bins in the outside braai area after previous guests check out for new guests to make use of them. There was disposed stuff flying around our door that came from the full bin.
- Zintle (10/5): We had a great experience that was peaceful - The view N/A
- Sphakamiso (7/5): Good -
- Mpisane (9/5): Superb -
- Momina (8/5): Anniversary getaway - The views from the balcony, the dam and the view deck were the stars of the show 😍❤️ Great shower too! Terrain on the farm is a bit rough, appropriate vehicle is needed to avoid potholes and rough gravel.
- Diedricks (7/5): I had a wonderful time in the venue - I like the location it's quite and refreshing. The view as well was amazing. No TV in my room and bathroom doesn't have the door.
- Phumzile (3/5): Poor - The location is breath taking The kitchen is right next to the bed and the microwave did not work. It a self catering with no stove
- Byron (9/5): Superb -
- Hanti (7/5): Lovely place, i will defs recommend, - A beautiful view. Clean room...just a pity booking .com made a mistake and booked us in another cottage with double rooms, that was already booked, so we had to settle fir a one bedroom The mistake booking .com made and i had to share a room with my friend
- Kim (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting x
- Ismaeel (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing views and dam . Simple clean and close to everything you need . Friendly hosts . Shower water pressure was low but not the end of the world.
- Kholeka (10/5): An extraordinary experience - The property was peaceful with beautiful views. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We will most definitely be coming back soon. Nothing
- Celiwe (10/5): Will definitely come back again . The host Grace was so welcome and lively . - Refreshing , clean , peaceful . Everything was up to our expectations and standard
- Braam (7/5): Good -
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Amanda (10/5): Sublime tranquility 🤩 - I am always ecstatic when I arrive at the property and the pictures on the app have not done it justice. The stunning location and exquisite views cannot be captured adequately by photos, you need to experience the sublime peace that is Clearwater Farm Venue.
The bachelor pad type accommodation is beautifully decorated, really comfortable and very clean when I arrived. They live up to the sustainability criteria which is a huge plus factor!
The host Grace, was fantastic. I am one of those guests with 101 questions 🫣 and she answered everyone ever so graciously, thank you.
If you are looking for a spot where you can hear yourself think, unplugged from the hurried pace of your regular life, do yourself a favour and book Clearwater Farm Venue. Nothing I didn’t like, but might be useful to have a one pager available that gives guests basic information on arrival. Such as how to get in and out the property, entrances to the nature reserve. It can be done electronically to keep with the sustainability criteria.
I stayed a couple of days and towards the last day I wished there was a broom and mop made available in the room.
Everything else was perfect 🤩
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robin (8/5): It was a most enjoyable overnight stop . - Very peaceful beautiful loaction.
Felt safe in the storm , and were grateful that Grace was able to accomopdate us despite not being there.
We would visit again.
Comfortable bed , suggest towel rails where towels can dry.
Very attractive decor. Nice verandah. The concrete floor was dusty / maybe a few mats around .
- Letasha (3/5): Poor - I did not stay there because the room was not ready
- Viljoen (10/5): Exceptional -
