Guest Reviews
- karen (10/5): -
- Claire (8/5): Very nice - Great location and staff.
Food was nice but the coffee wasn’t great (and I’m a big coffee drinker)
Would consider booking again for the peaceful location and easy access to the beach The coffee 😂
- Tracey (10/5): Comfortable, clean, restful stay - Clean, comfortable room. Warm welcome from the staff. Great location with a lovely sea view. Dogs welcome which made a break with my little dog perfect Nothing, it was great
- John (8/5): -
- Jamie (8/5): - Location, staff, cleanliness and comfort. Additional cost for pet wasn't clear at the time of booking.
- Cera (10/5): -
- Daryl (3/5): -
- Andrew (3/5): Serve the purpose wouldn’t stay there again - The location suited us we were visiting family near there No heating in room cold no hot water no Internet no television, no hairdryer
- Anthony (7/5): A nice hotel with clean and well appointed rooms - The two rooms that we booked were both clean and well appointed. We had no complaints about the two rooms we had. The bar & restaurant was closed but that wasn't really a surprise as we were there out of season but the local bar up the road had parking, food & drinks for us at a reasonable price.
- Anne (7/5): -
- Janice (5/5): - Near to train station and beach.
Family room was actually two separate rooms with own access. Family room didn't include foc breakfast for anyone whereas all double rooms did include foc breakfast for same dates of stay. So had to pay for 4 breakfasts even though the children hardly ate anything. Also to have cereal as well as cooked breakfast was extra for everyone.
Definitely not good value.
- Janice (5/5): - Location in Fairbourne itself was good. Near the beach and train station. Meal in the restaurant very expensive and not value for money.
Had gammon which was overcooked!
Noisy rooms at night, early morning.
Toilet in bathroom next to low window overlooking the main road.
- Keeley (10/5): -
- Marion (1/5): Very disappointed stay - Nothing Location facilities the room customer service was non existent on the Sunday and Monday
Room very disappointing
No wardrobe in room
Not able to close lock bathroom door
Curtains falling down
Cobwebs in bathroom
Decor very scruffy looking.
Whole lot disappointed when it was suppose to be birthday celebrations
Booked king size deluxe room, nothing deluxe about it.
No breakfast facilities on the Monday. Phoned the owner, informed us to go to cafe down the road. Walked in walked out. Not a place a would choice to eat.
- Wendy (7/5): Don’t judge a book by its cover - Gorgeous bedroom with good facilities Outside decor didn’t do it justice
- Janice (9/5): -
- Kye (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): -
- Emma (7/5): Perfect for what I needed it for (location) - Great location- quick walk to beach and shops/cafe Keycards left on desk for check in- didn’t see any staff during stay.
- Linda (1/5): I feel ripped off. Monies for 2 night stay taken in advance. We have not enjoyed our stat here - Very little. It is not a hotel as advertised. However it has been well decorated, the room is a good size and well decorated. The bed is comfortable and the linen clean. No hairdryer though. There are absolutely no staff. Entrance dark and spooky and unmanned. All there is a mobile number and key cards left on a table. Pleased I am not here on my own. Bar and Restaurant locked up. Paid for breakfast, there is none. You took money in advance, you should not have done. I paid the price for a hotel not an AirBnB type room in a unmanned block
- Penelope (8/5): -
- Lucia (10/5): - Location
- angela (7/5): Pleasant & friendly but very steep stairs. - Full English very good. The rest ok. The bathroom was very small. Good but not exceptional
- Lisa (8/5): Never judge a book by its cover - We de decided to stop off at Fairbourne after our week stay in Tenby. When we arrived at The Springfield Hotel, there was a scooter meet going on with music & food until late. We were slightly concerned we would end up with no sleep and a rowdy atmosphere. We were so wrong! We had the best sleep in the huge bed! We booked the executive suite & we weren't disappointed. Lovely mountain views & very clean & comfy.
Breakfast was fantastic, too 😋
From the outside, the Springfield hotel doesn't look like a great place to stay, but it is.
We walked to Barmouth & back along the railway bridge. 8 mile in total & well worth it.
Thanks for the hospitality. Should have stayed for another night.
- James (10/5): -
- Matthew (8/5): - Lovely room
- Graham (10/5): Really enjoyed our two nights stay, great hotel & excellent breakfast! - Good size rooms, friendly excellent staff & bar staff. All good
- Paul (7/5): - Good parking, nice room, good laundry. Excellent heating , shower and courtesy tray. The restaurant was closed as was the bar so cannot comment on either. We did receive a 'phone call in the afternoon advising us of closure.
- Sarah (6/5): Okay - Not a 5 star hotel at all!! Asked for room to be made up and all that was sorted was the bed. Dirty tea cups left and towels. We were in a family room and there was no curtains up at the kids window. More like a 3 star.
- Deanne (1/5): -
- Mandy (7/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): - Lovely, friendly staff, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
- Jamie (8/5): -
- Michael (1/5): -
- Milind (5/5): Enjoyable - Close to the beach Rustic rather than tidy
- Dene (7/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): Hidden gem - Its in a nice quiet little place. It was Bank holiday Saturday when we went so there was a festival going on and there was the annual race the train event which was fun . You can either eat in the hotel or the pub down the road. We were only staying overnight as we were on a bike trip so it was perfect for us. It was clean, the beds were comfy, they had little toiletries in the bathroom, which was a nice touch. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room and bottles of still water. A good sized TV and a fan, which was a godsend for me . They set fireworks off at 10.30 but he did warn us on arrival and it was a special occasion
I didn't get the room I booked either and in hindsight, I should have said something when checking in but I didn't so I didn't give them a chance to rectify it. You also have to pre-order breakfast the night before which doesn't always suit people.
- Anastasija (10/5): Perfect place to get away from loud city life - Spacious, comfortable, close to the seaside , peaceful Not applicable
- Bilal (8/5): -
- Chris (8/5): -
- maurice (9/5): - Friendly staff, clean rooms, decent bar and good food ,
Will be returning
- Glynis (7/5): A friendly base to explore the area. Thank you - Very friendly staff, clean room, lovely very big comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to the beach, station. Good base for exploring the area. Couple of suggestions ….clearer written info displayed in the room and in the restaurant on breakfast timing. It differed from the actual times. Adding a salad to the menu would be nice.
- Nicky (8/5): Good basic stay with friendly staff. - Staff very friendly and helpful. Amy especially. Lovely family room with separate rooms for children’s single beds. Lovely view. Dog friendly. Limited free parking in hotel car park so had to pay for first day and night. We then parked on residential roads surrounding when no space after but felt a bit intrusive on local residents.
Curries weren’t amazing for the price. Couldn’t get water to switch from shower head to tap to run a bath.
- Cil (1/5): - Location The bed was very uncomfortable, and loud music went on until midnight, which made it hard to sleep. The breakfast area was poorly maintained and the kitchen felt dirty. Overall, quite disappointing.
- Richard (9/5): The Springfield was a pleasant surprise after leaving booking something near Barmouth a little late. - John and the team was very helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. They welcomed our little dog and the facilities were very much geared up for bringing her along. Unfortunately there is no road bridge across to Barmouth you must walk or take a train. The taxi journey back was quite long!
- Sarah (9/5): -
- kumar (9/5): -
- Brigmane (3/5): Too loud - We booked Saturday night and we could hear the music till 12:00 am ,there was a event on the first floor and we were in the third floor.
In the shower was a black hair .I wouldn’t give the hotel a 4 stars
- Bryan (10/5): - Maria and John are lovely hosts. The hotel rooms were clean and well appointed, breakfast was superb - so much so that we stayed for an extra night. The location is lovely - very close to the beach and an hour's walk from Barmouth across the stunning Maddawch estuary bridge. We will definitely be returning as we had a lovely chilled trip, met some lovely people and went on some stunning walks - Django the dog was awesome company too!
- Nicola (10/5): Great - Beds were comfy, windows opened fully, staff were lovely Nothing
- Robert (9/5): Lovely place, just what we needed. - Lovely staff, very friendly dog at reception that we couldn't help but stop and say hi to as we're walking past 😁
The family room was nice, seperate rooms, great wifi. The only thing I didn't like personally, the mattress was a bit too hard for us on the bed we were in but not a complaint of any kind.
- Martin (9/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff
- Pearl Huxley (9/5): Love fairbourne, nice peaceful location with a lovely beach , lovely walks . - Well done to new owners bringing this hotel up to “ a vision of loveliness it looks great now ! Very nice and clean ,breakfast was lovely too! Staff all very nice .My pooches loved there little holiday here ! Perfect location for them so close to beach ! I booked a “ Deluxe King room “ I’m sure the room I had was not a deluxe king room , I hope not anyway ! Sleep wasn’t very good due to bed being just not big enough for us both ( we are used to a very large bed]. I didn’t mention it to reception as I had booked it last minute & I think it was a full hotel ,and we only had one night stay , couldn’t have done it for a week! But on the plus side room was lovely & clean & shower was lovely & hot .
- Andrea (10/5): - Lovely quiet area, all amenities you need, chippy/shop/ice cream / grill bar and a small steam train. Beach lovely and once you get over the stones nice and sandy. John and Maria were fab hosts, couldn't do enough for you. Will be back Nothing
- kenneth (10/5): -
- BLOT (10/5): - Personnel accueillant et chaleureux
- Ryan (7/5): Springfield on the up - New owner have done place proud but still bit of work need say its 4 star. Would stay again for odd night. Breakfast was most just deep fried and scrambled egg was wet soft cook not to everyone taste so not worth price paid. Was pre order night before with order form stating 8 to 10am but on open time was 8.30 to 10am. Order for 8am but ask late in evening after ordering if could be 8.30am.
No one on reception went entry just desk but easier find bar to ask.
Very easier to fix and most just preference of me
- Camillo (9/5): Superb - Very nice people, excellent location Nothing
- MICHELLE (10/5): -
- Thomas (9/5): Excellent location - Their dog Jango was the best part about the stay. Very friendly even if he barked early in the morning haha. 10/10 The beds were a bit too firm for my taste, but otherwise the location was perfect for travel around north Wales
- Joseph (6/5): - Standard breakfast fare and comfortable room in an area of natural beauty. On a Saturday night it can get a bit boisterous with local people in the bar.
- Leanne (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Lovely - Lovely Free beer
- Peter (8/5): Friendly staff in good location - Convenient location Whining dog in adjacent bedroom
- Weeks (10/5): - A really lovely place to stay.Confortble friendly great breakfast. N/a
- Malcolm (9/5): Brilliant. - The weather was amazing and tip-tops were offered periodically free of charge. Little things like that. Make all the difference. A first for me and I have been to many destinations around the world. The only improvement, in all honesty, would be air-con. It was very hot when we were there.
- Goran (4/5): The room Ok, the rest not so good. - The shower. The room was fine. The fact that the staff was nowhere to be found and I didn't get the breakfast I paid for. The restaurant was suddenly closed and remained so in the morning (no breakfast).
- MaGiX (10/5): - My stay at the hotel was truly exceptional. The staff were absolutely wonderful — full of energy, enthusiasm, and genuine engagement. Everything was perfectly organized, with every detail thoughtfully taken care of. What impressed me most was how well everything was tailored to my individual needs as a guest.
The breakfast was also a highlight — very tasty and satisfying.
Overall, a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!
- Alan (8/5): Comfortable beds and friendly staff - Handy for beach. Good sized car park. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value but it would have been nice to have yogurt and fruit plus weetabix as an additional cereal
- Frederick (7/5): - Excellent location. Breakfasts was not available until 09.00.
- matthew (9/5): -
- Melinda (10/5): - Friendly staff, comfortable beds, delicious food Unfortunately, in one of the rooms (room 9), there was no proper cleaning between guests...the towels were not changed and the mug was dirty, there was trash left in the trash can.
- Lindsay (9/5): Fabulous - Friendly and very nicely done, breakfast was great Loud music in the bar and outside all day
- Dan (8/5): Superb place tucked out the way, do not over look it. - Staff accommodated breakfast beyond hours. They were great, super helpful and very friendly! First impressions are it’s just a little tired, but given location I can’t see it draws masses of trade, so well within its means. Would definitely recommend.
- Linda (10/5): Excellent! - Staff were exceptionally helpful - even arranged for one of them to give us a lift to a location we couldn't access by walking! Nothing to dislike.
- Anuvak (9/5): -
- Patricia (9/5): Friendly staff, confortable and clean - Very clean and comfortable
- Mark (8/5): -
- Debbie (8/5): Quick stopover, ideal location and nice family room - Two proper single beds for the kids rather than having to share or put up beds. Main bed was a queen/superking rather than a double or king, very spacious. Spacious bathroom. Clean and tidy room and main areas etc. Looked really nice, better than we were expecting to be honest. Room was a little bit rough around the edges. No one on reception, went through to the bar to find someone. No info given on breakfast or food options. We eat out and left early due to local event but would have been nice to be given some info in case we wanted to eat there.
- Suzanne (4/5): Room and bed ok but let down by lack of staff/communication. - The room was clean and nice towels provided, the shower worked well. Some small adjustments could make it so much better. There was no communication regarding breakfast, we asked the first day and preordered as we had to leave early for a train, HOWEVER at no time was it explained that if we didn’t pre order breakfast wasn’t provided. Second day, the lady kindly made us some coffee n toast and we pre ordered for the third day. I felt we were not the first victims of this what felt like a scam. When you pay for breakfast you do expect to receive it. It was ok when it was provided.
Also as previously mentioned no shelf in the shower for toiletries and you could only see in the mirror if you were more than 5ft 6in. And some drawers for clothes are required.
The fire door in the corridor was wedged open with an extinguisher the entire time we were there.
- Tracey (10/5): Will stay again -
- Timothy (10/5): Great value for money - Me and my wife went to the Springfield for our wedding anniversary. I have been going to fairbourne since I was a small boy and I always wanted to go inside the Springfield. But never did. Then i wanted to book a night away with my wife and we had an amazing night. The staff were lovely the room was great food was top notch Nothing
- michael (8/5): Our stay was good. However, disappointed we didn't receive breakfast on the second day - Location good, Manager very good. The second day we didn't receive breakfast, No staff available and no information on breakfast times.
- Kanwaljit (10/5): - Location and atmosphere Rooms had no cupboards.
- Gurpreet (7/5): -
- Mark (6/5): Over all we only stopped one night so can’t be to harsh if in the area again would stay again - Its value for money good car park, breakfast was very good. Our room was a bit run down could do with a bit of TLC to smarten up
- Alex (8/5): - Awesome Rooms, neat and tidy rooms. Friendly staff. Delicious Breakfast 😋 No Fan or Air con. In summer it's difficult 😕
- kerry (5/5): It was just a short stay. - It was clean.
Bed was comfy I asked for a sea view, didn't have one.
Only selected rooms had breakfast in with the price
TV was dodgy, couldn't get much on.
- Alie (8/5): -
- Patricia (7/5): Comfortable quiet nice and clean - Clean comfortable, good caa as r parking No reception staff
- Steve (6/5): -
- Jon (10/5): Great - Fabulous views from the room ( Family deluxe room on top floor so be mindful if you have difficulty in tackling stairs) room was clean ,beds comfortable ,tv with Netflix ,really nice breakfast and lovely food in the restaurant. everyone was friendly . Had a really nice time.
- Sigita (6/5): -
- Rick (8/5): -
- Krzysztof (8/5): Relaksacyjny i turystyczny. - Śniadanie pyszne. Lokalizacja piękna. Sprzątaczka powinna być dokładniejsza i myć kubki.
- talha (5/5): - Staff was friendly and hotel at a good location I felt the price was a bit too much.the hotel is more of a guest house yet they charged us more than a 100£ for a night. The breakfast was not included and we paid extra for that.
- adila (10/5): Amazing location and staff! - The location was fantastic, we went for a hike to Cadair Idris and it was 20-25mins from there. And the bonus was there was a beach on our doorstep! The staff were lovely and smiley and made you feel welcome. Nothing to dislike! But the bathroom fan was a tad bit loud but no bother.
