Guest Reviews
- Victoria (8/5): Lovely, well appointed cottage, in a idillic setting. - Very pretty, and quiet area. Lovely view from the back garden. Inside was really quaint and well decorated. Well appointed and had everything we needed. Being very picky here as the cottage was lovely. However in the interest of giving positive feedback to improve the experience: It’s difficult to tell which one is the correct cottage! The address just said lilac terrace, would have been useful to have a number on the gate. The pretty curtains did not make the room dark (I was awake at 4.45am when the sun came up) they could do with lining to block out the daylight. The master bedroom layout didn’t leave much space to get around the bed and the TV was redundant because of its position on the draws which I had to squeeze past. The nettles in the garden could do with removing, I fell foul of them when sat at the outside table.

- Christine (10/5): When we arrived on a very snowy evening, the cottage was warm and welcoming. - There was nothing we didn’t like.

- Jenny (10/5): Lovely stay it well equipped, comfortable cottage. - Very well equipped property, everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Large choice of pots, pans etc. which is not always the case in holiday cottages. Cottage very clean and well looked after. Ambient temperature good, and you can message the host if you needed the heating turned up more. Black out curtains in the room would be a bonus. My husband is 6'3 and banged his head a few times on the low door frames - not the owners fault, it's a cottage, but just be mindful if you're tall haha! There are no local takeaways that deliver.
- Adele (10/5): Amazing Stay Thank You - Couldn't if asked for more! The cottage is immaculate with everything you need. Beautifully furnished and ideal location for our stay for a wedding at Danby Castle. There is a Coop in the next village over for essentials and a Bakery in Danby, but we ordered a delivery from Morrisons which made it so much easier. Nothing, yes it is rural but as long as you know that and plan accordingly then it is perfect. Actually sad to leave

- Rachel (9/5): Lovey little cottage - Lovely cottage , with everything you could need provided . A little cold at times as it was very cold weather, but to be expected with how cottages used to be build, but sitting room was warm with the log fire .
- Joanne (10/5): Lovely homely cottage - it was very homely and welcoming, the little touches were great, the Christmas decorations made it feel more like home, everything was furnished lovely and we will definitely go again creaky floorboards, but I suppose that's what you get in a cottage

- Laura (10/5): Home away from home - A home away from home. My parents and I stayed here for my cousins wedding at Danby Castle and the location was absolutely brilliant.
Nestled in the quiet village of Danby, this is a true gem of a find! We loved that the property had everything you could possibly need and was spacious enough for us all. The en-suite and separate bathroom are lovely and the beds were very comfortable.
The host was brilliant and let us check in abit early after we’d been travelling all day.
There is ample parking out the front, so you don’t need to worry about your car.
I loved the sheep outside the door and how quiet the place was. We all got a good nights sleep and left feeling relaxed.
The bay window is perfect to read a book or chill out with a drink.
My parents absolutely loved it and want to come back ASAP. Even my Dad was happy, and he is a tricky customer.
Thank you so much, truly a wonderful place. We liked everything

- Sarah (10/5): Lovely cottage in a wonderful location - We had a wonderful stay at Lilac Cottage over the Easter weekend while attending a wedding at Danby Castle, the area is absolutely beautiful. Nessa was really accommodating to us and the welcome treats on arrival were a lovely touch. The cottage is very well equipped, a real home from home with a log burner for those chillier evenings. We were extra lucky to see newborn lambs which were in the field next to the cottage garden. Highly recommend!
- Christina (10/5): This is your postcard kind of cottage - it’s beautiful, cozy and has everything you could wish for :) - It was cozy, well equipped and in a perfect location. We couldn’t have wished for anything more! Nothing :)
- Stubugs (10/5): Cosy traditional cottage with modern convenience. - Lovely Yorkshire stone cottage. Very well equipped. Comfortable bed and that second bathroom so useful. Plenty of hot water which isn’t always guaranteed at an older property! The property was decorated for Christmas and was lovely and warm when we arrived. What a cosy festive welcome! Very clean. Thoughtful welcome basket. Communication from owner excellent.
