Guest Reviews
- Botagoz (1/5): -
- debora (4/5): Extremely disappointing experience and very bad customer service - Location is very central and there is an airport pickup included. We were not given the room we booked for and the one we ended up having was very disappointing, but we cannot judge the room originally booked Multiple issues:
1 - We were told last minute that the room we had booked was not available, and given another one that was disappointing and had the same price. It had a sink in the shower (that made the bathroom become dirty very quickly), it was quite small for 3ppl and hot and noisy. There were also holes in the bedsheets and overall signs of minimal care.
2 - Customer service is terrible - the reception staff does not speak English and could not be helpful in finding another room/a solution and the WhatsApp contact we had been regularly in touch until the trip has never replied concerning the issues with the room
3 - Paying by card requires a 12% fee, which is unusual (and was not the case anywhere else in Azerbaijan)
- Zlatan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yuvraj (9/5): Superb -
- Nataša (9/5): Charming place - Location is perfect (if you come with a cab, they will drop you off outside the old city gates so you need to find the hotel by yourself and on foot, take a good look at the picture of outside hotel that they provided because you’ll need to literally recognize the place, navigation doesn’t help)
Wifi is great
Hot shower and good pressure
Hotel is charming and staff are very friendly and helpful
- Elizaveta (9/5): A very chic and unusual place, nice interior. Totally recommend. - I stayed in this hotel for 3 days and it was the best experience. The location is perfect - in the heart of an old city. And personnel was very welcoming and helpful. We had and early flight and they allowed us to stay in the other room while ours was being cleaned. At the end they let us leave our baggage after checking out, so we could still have a nice day in the city before heading to the airport.
Overall very welcoming and helpful, we enjoyed the stay and looking forward to come back.
If you are looking for a room with a nice view, you might also want to upgrade the room as the standard one's window view the inside of the building. The bigger rooms, however, have a nice little balcony). We did not have an issue with that, as our room has air conditioner and blinds for privacy. We had a standard room and it was overall very nice (clean& nice interior, had an air conditioner, TV, good wifi, even had water)
The only thing is that, and it comes from only our experience in our room, the shower is leaking after every use, which is not a grave thing at all, but could improve the experience of future guests.
- Elvira (7/5): Fine - It is a nice hotel, with a beautiful surroundings, you wake up in the beautiful Old Town! The stuff are kind. We had electricity and hot water problem(which didn’t happen only once).
Although if it was obvious for us before booking, the room has only 1 window opens to the inside of the hotel. You may feel the need of fresh air sometimes!
- Ziming (2/5): I did not like my stay there. - Cannot pay by card! The floor was broken. It’s not sound proof.
- Sarah (2/5): Extremely disappointing - Only the location and size of room The cleanness of linens, bathrooms had problems we tried 4 rooms every bathroom had problems, heating system not strong enough for strong winters, staff not cooperative nothing you ask for is done major language problem no one knows English except one person who only comes at night duty and also he knows only broken English, towels are not clean and over used no hot water in most of the bathrooms, fridges don’t work properly
Rooms are always dusty and in one of the rooms brick pieces fall on the bed all the time .
The room and bathroom light in ground floor Felix room was very dim
Daily pieces of cement / brick fell on the bed and lots of dust
When I informed them they said because the people in the room above you are jumping !
FYI no kids in room above !
The ceiling is all wood by the way and the particles that fell were not wood
The hot water only came for like a minute in the ground floor rooms
Not up to the previous reviews at all !
- Türker (8/5): Great value for the location - Enjoyed our stay very much, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very big and the hotel is in a great location. I would recommend staying here
- Habeeb (9/5): Sazeli Boutique - This old charm boutique hotel is all we searched for. We like the interiors of this hotel and room especially ceilings and floorings along with hanging lamps. Hotel is close to Double gates and many restaurants are nearby. Staffs were helpful, special thanks to reception guy who works in evening shifts. They accept only cash. I don't see big problem considering small business has to pay big commissions on POS.
- Victor (5/5): Passable - Traditional building. Reception desk at the entry. Unfriendly staff. My room was on the ground floor next to the reception desk. Room with internal window towards the reception.
Not a good place for a single traveller. Perhaps better for couples
- Husu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anaam (3/5): Poor - The location There is no privacy at all the room very small even the deluxe room it's not recommended for family especially if u have luggage u feel like u are in the grave no space to move in the room
- Kate (9/5): Superb -
- Eda (9/5): Superb -
- Arzu (8/5): Nice stay - Staff was very helpful (especially Mr. Suat) and the location of the hotel was great.
The rooms were clean and cleaned every day.
I recommend you to choose the rooms with balconies or the king suite. Unfortunately the rooms on the ground floor are very noisy. I constantly heard the footsteps and even woke up from my sleep.
There were some problems with hot water.
- Zakir (9/5): Superb -
- Ran (8/5): Very good - Good location and beautiful balcony. The hotel only takes cash.
- Ulviyya (9/5): Superb -
- Vladan (7/5): Good - The location was absolutely perfect — right in the heart of Baku’s old city, which made it incredibly convenient for exploring! The interior was really lovely and had a nice aesthetic. The cleanliness was a major letdown. The bathroom was particularly problematic with dirt and limescale buildup, and I found hair on the beds, which was really unpleasant. The staff service was absolutely terrible — they seemed completely disinterested.
- Daniel (9/5): Amazing! - Staff extremely nice and helpful! Bed very comfy and big, nice cool rooms in amazing location. Best value in Baku too!! A bit loud at night due to little soundproofing.
- Simeon (3/5): Unfortunately bad experience - Good location, the hotel building looks beautiful Arrived around midnight and as I had stated a preference for a quiet room, the room in the ground floor was given, and the wondow was looking at the entrance (reception and stairs). Obviously, was very noisy, you could hear absolutely everyone getting in and out, at 5 am I had to get out to tell to the reception to minimize the noise of his movie.
The big shock was when I got into the room and saw the bathroom. It was very dorty, not in conditions to give the room to a customer. The reception told me that he can´t do anything and the next day someone could clean it, not even an apology. I asked for another room and he said there wasn´t any but next morning seeing the hotel buildng while cleaning, I could see several empty rooms. I asked for a detergent to clean it myself and he came back with one for the floor.
The room in general was dirty, not well maintained.
The bathroom also get really wet, impossible to use it after showering, as there is no shower and they didn´t make any effort to make the life easier as in other hotels.
My confirmation email was stating clrearly that the breakfast was 10 manat per person but there they were demanding 15 per person. The breakfast is server in a restaurant 5 minutes away and it´s pretty good, but you can find better at the same price.
I really had high expectations from this hotel, the building is beautiful but my experience was extremely bad.
- Grace (9/5): Super - The location, very close to all touristic area. Nothing to sit in reception
- Sanniya (7/5): Good -
- Julien (10/5): Best hotel of Baku in this price range - Beautiful rooms, great location the the middle of the old city (although only a few minutes away by foot from the place where taxis drop you), lovely staff, and a free upgrade to deluxe room on our second visit! 😍
We have been in many hotels in Baku but none of these get anywhere close to Sazeli Boutique Hotel. Best hotel of Baku in this price range, no doubt! We would have loved to spend more time in here! 😅
- Sarah (9/5): Great Accomodation - great location and price, and very authetic
- Alex (10/5): Great, fresh and clean, location, value - Located perfectly in the old city and all walkable. Quiet side street. Renovated building looks great on internal design and rooms. High ceilings. Hot shower and cold AC. Bed is comfy but very soft. Small hotel with not many rooms so generally very quiet. Water left in room each day. Kettle and hairdryer. Coffee shop few meters away that is quiet and good quality. Loads of restaurants within minutes walk. We stayed five nights and would recommend. Window into room above door lets bright light through when trying to sleep. Its bulb is in line with your eyes and is very annoying until it get switched off at midnight by staff.
No fridge in room, missing a trick here.
- Muhammad (7/5): Good -
- Ballerini (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing the Building, I didn't expect that entrance!
- Judith (9/5): Wonderful little hotel at a perfect location. -
- Svetlana (9/5): Absolutely great! - The location was fantastic, the staff was very helpful, the best! The room was great, with exception for the shower cabin. The breakfast was a feast! It wasn’t dirty but it had mould all over the edges, one of the doors didn’t work. But other than that, it is a fantastic place to stay.
- Julia (9/5): Authentic and welcoming - Location is perfect. Easy to find, entrance sign clearly marked. The balcony is fairytale. At night the street gets very quiet, if you have time and energy to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the stillness - look no further, the place is idyllic. Jafar is a very hospitable host, helped us with suitcases, answered all the questions. I loved the way the room was designed, both from the point of view of aesthetics and convenience. I loved the brick walls and the green accents.
The breakfast was just amazing!!!
- Hira (10/5): Great location, lovely property - wish i could stay more - I stayed in three different hotels in Baku and this was my FAVOURITE! The hotel is super cute with very lovely rooms. The TV has youtube, netflix and great wifi so you can enjoy while resting. Room has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The host is friendly and very kind. The location is also great, its in the start of old town (you make a right turn on old city double gates) so you can enjoy best of what Baku has to offer by foot easily. Nizami street is 5 minutes walk away. Great value for money. The bolt cars could not enter old city so you may need to drag your bags to hotel yourself (it would take around 5 minutes) and is not an issue if you travel light. There are no lifts in old town so you will have to take stairs to go to rooms on second and third floor. The owner and hotel staff were kind enough to help with luggage (we had very heavy bags). However this is just a minor thing and should not deter anyone from booking this lovely hotel.
- Jules (9/5): Thank you Jafar and your team for a wonderful experience - Perfection. Lovely beautiful traditional designed room with a balcony to chill and watch the local life below. Location was perfect for first time visitors
Breakfast off site was also lovely
Would most definitely come again😎
- Yerina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, very good facilities, helpful staff.
- Ziyi (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing!! The room is well decorated by objects with AZ style. I feel like a princess in old time when I lie on the bed. The location was quiet.
- Ivan (9/5): Superb - Old house with history, great location, very polite and kind host, thanks! Bathroom walls were a little bit unclean
- Huiling (10/5): Awesome stay in historic building within Old City - Excellent location, it is a historic building but still with modern conveniences. Clean & comfy, the owner is very helpful and smooth communication on all our queries. Highly recommended stay!
- Maleeha (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect, it's in the heart of içeri şeher. Breakfast is superb, always served hot. Would highly recommend. Loved everything.
- Maleeha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vusi (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly, helpful staff, location is perfect, facility was great All good
- Jenievi (9/5): Very good location, the manager/owner and the receptionist were very nice. - Good location, very near the main gate of old city. Right across Old City is Nizami Street so almost everything is walking distance from the hotel. Clean hotel. Aside from the broken wood floor which is very minimal but it just gave me the creeps that some insects or snake will come out of it (sorry I’m overthinking) everything is ok and very clean.
- Yury (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, directly in the historic center of Baku. Friendly and polite stuff. Clean room, there are shower gel, shampoo and dental kit in the bathroom.
- Nigar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (7/5): Great location - It's clean and the location is great You can hear everything from the other rooms. We were unlucky that next to us was a disrespectful guy with the night time.
- Nigar (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hotel and location. Old city gives amazing vibe. Hotel is great, clean, full of history.
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Perfect loction, just a few steps from main attractions, comfortable and spacious room, however it's very dark inside even during the day, possibility to check-in late night, easy contact with the staff via WA Dark room, thin walls
- Amr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hartza92 (10/5): Cozy stay in old city Baku - The hotel is a traditional Azeri house within the old city of Baku, remodeled and modernized but maintaining its stone structure. The bathroom is modern and equipped with everything. Air conditioning in the room comfortable bed, towels and blanket. They informed us of a commission but they still let us pay by credit card. Excellent location. Our stay was great Some of the staff do not speak English. They offer breakfast in a nearby place that is a little expensive compared to the standard in Baku.
- Parthasarathy (10/5): Exceptional - It's just a few minutes walk from the double gate (icherisheher entrance). Though its a small hotel, it's ambience is good and the rooms are quite spacious. More than anything, the staff are very helpful.
- Anastasia (6/5): Expensive, not very pleasant. - Excellent location Expensive for what it offered. Tiny bathroom, one thin duvet for two people. After we asked for a second one the said they don’t have a spare and suggested to use air conditioning (late May). They didn’t clean the room the first day, leaving us without toilet paper. The breakfast was offered in a nearby restaurant that didn’t serve coffee. The bed mattress wasn’t comfortable and it wasn’t fully covered by the sheet as they weren’t the same size.
- Derek (10/5): A true gem - Absolutely fantastic. Superb location. Nothing
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Conny (3/5): Sleep-deprived stay - Location was excellent: on a quiet (no-through) street in the old town, less than a 2 minute walk from the double gates. Where to start....
I had a room on the ground floor. The floor above is just wood, and I could hear everything: their conversations, their phone calls, their snoring, and they were always moving around in the room until about 02.30 in the morning. I never got more than 3 hours sleep every night.
The matress didn't have a fitted sheet, just a straight sheet that wasn't big enough to even cover the sides of the matress. By turning in bed at night the sheet would give way and I was lying on top of the matress itself.
The floor was dusty and dirty, especially around the edges.
The shower was a nightmare: the water is either freezing cold or scorching hot, and I even got a little burnt.
Breakfast is not available, and you'll have to ask for your room to be cleaned otherwise they won't.
I can honestly say I was glad to check-out of this place at the end of my stay.
- Tomer (10/5): Amazing - Dave was an extremely nice manager, helped with everything and gave great tips! Would 100% recommend!
A lot of scammers in Delhi and it was nice to meet an honest man!
- Akamac (9/5): Superb - Location is top notch, exceptional restaurant is around the corner.
The staircase is Instagrammable :)
Personnel is friendly and responsive. It's a bit stuffy in the room as there are no windows to the street. There is an AC though.
- Daria (10/5): Amazing, would come back - Location, history, hospitality, breakfast, room with the balcony Just the elevator is missing because it’s an old historical building so you have to lift you luggage up by stairs
- Dumitru (9/5): Superb - Great location, boutique hotel in the heart of the old town. Great and very helpful staff. The bathroom needs to be refreshed
- Umair_mirza (10/5): Exceptional - Its a nice little place right in the old city. Was clean and beautiful. Accomodated by providing an alternative to early checkin by providing us a temp bed for a few hours, since we caught a redeye flight and were super tired. They could definitely improve their mattresses. Soggy spring mattresses - they should invest in their mattresses.
The AC remote would not work 99% of the time. Super uncomfortable.
- Anatoliy (9/5): Basically for 1-2 nights perfect choice to explore the city. - Hotel is very nice, basically looks like a family business(house) with rooms on each floor, personal is very helpful.
Situated in the heart of old town, couple of famous restaurants nearby with perfect local food.
Breakfast 100m away in their family restaurant, but it was perfect, we enjoyed so much. It was very hot in rooms, windows are facing inside building on stairs, so if you open them, it’s not helpful. But there is AC which you can use to cool down.
Bathroom are a bit dirty with mold in the corners.
- Hammad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (9/5): Superb -
- N (7/5): Very good location but terrible insulation - The location in the old city is perfect, staff is nice. The building is old and the sound insulation is terrible.
The is a small window above the room door, meaning people could peak into your intimacy.
The bathrobes in the cupboard had been used and were not clean...
- Samadov (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anton (8/5): Great location & interiors - Wonderful location in the old town in an ancient (but renovated) building. We really liked authentic interior. Airport transfers are available. And the host is very kind and friendly. Note that the breakfasts are served in a restaurant which is about 5-minute walk from the hotel. It was not a problem for us, but I just let future guests know.
- Darya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sameh (10/5): Amazing 👏 - Big Big thanks for Mr. Gafar and the owner of the hotel for his kindness hospitality, he is very respectful person and will go above and beyond to make you happy 😊 also Ms. Shakhmas the work at the Hotel trust me she will let you feel home 🏡 Nothing everything is perfect 👌
- Yakup (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location very good staf
- Abdullah (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you for your hospitality. The host was friendly and allowed us to check in in advance. The place is beautiful, clean, quiet and worth a visit. There is a problem with draining water in the bathroom when showering
- Vladimir (8/5): Great place inside the old city - Amazing place, comfortably located inside the old city and close to the main streets of the city center.
Jafar is a very welcoming and sweet host. He gladly answered our questions and suggested places to visit.
Breakfast costs extra (fair price) and takes place in a cafe nearby, very suitable to start the day.
If you're planning to go from the airport by taxi, I suggest taking the transfer option, because taxis will likely bargain for more money. The room I chose didn't have an outside window, so the only source of fresh air was from the inner space inside the building.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - We chose this boutique hotel because of the central location in the old town and we were satisfied with it. The rooms were comfy, a bit cold in December, but after talking to the receptionist he set up the heating. The breakfast is in the different street, but it was very good and worth it. The nicer and bigger rooms are in the upper floor.
- Afshana (8/5): Very good -
- Shaji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikoloz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Besik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lira (10/5): Authentic hotel in the heart of the Old City - It’s great to have experience of staying in the old building in Baku Old City, which is really well maintained and which is very cozy. Thank you for great hospitality!
- Haitham (9/5): Amazing hotel amazing stuff - Very old style looks amazing and it’s really in center of town and old Baku … manger and stuff are very kind and helpful and decent Just washroom need to be maintain but in total it’s okay
- Mayar (10/5): Exceptional - Really vintage hotel
- Gabriel (7/5): Good hotel if you are staying for a couple of nights - Hotel is conveniently located at Old Town and it's very easy to walk to many of the points of interest of Baku. There are plenty of bars and restaurants all within 10-15min walking distance. Hotel is small but quite preserved. My room was very spacious, and the bed was fine to have a good sleep. Wi-Fi also worked without issues.
Breakfast is served in a nearby restaurant (5min walk) and it's traditional Azerbaijani breakfast, which is good, but there's room for improvement.
In general, it's a good hotel if you are staying for 1-2 nights in Baku. More than that I would rather stay somewhere more comfortable. The real low point for me was the bathroom. My room specifically didn't have a shower box/bathtub. It was just a curtain, so whenever you take a shower the whole bathroom gets completely wet, which is extremely inconvenient because you have to step into a flooded bathroom to use the sink or the toilet. I saw that not all rooms are like this, some have a proper shower box, so just try to request one with it when you book your room.
I liked the breakfast, it was traditional Azerbaijani and everything was tasty, but they don't serve coffee (only tea) and water/juices are not included and have to be paid apart. Also, since it's served in a nearby restaurant it only opens at 9am, so if you want to go out early to explore the city it might be a limitation.
- Juliajulia07 (9/5): Recommended hotel in the heart of baku - Amazing location and great access to main sightseeings
Very fast and smooth check in and friendly helpful people
Big room warm and quite, bed is sooo comfy
Great location next to a busy area with coffee shops and restaurants
Great value for money Wifi was okay, need to reconnect often
Bathroom needs repair - facility is very old
- Andrey (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful location, an authentic old town, clean, and hospitable. I highly recommend this location to all tourists.
- Ciara (9/5): Superb - The property is accessible and we love the looks of the hotel. Staff are accommodating and Mr. Jafar, the Manager always has the willingness to assist. Thank you, Sazeli Boutique Hotel!
- Lukáš (8/5): Very good - Excellent location in the very heart of the old town. A large number of restaurants can be found nearby. Very friendly and helpful staff. I had a lot of noise in my room from the surrounding rooms and reception.
