Guest Reviews
- kathleen (10/5): stuning riverside lodge (family run near Xunantunich, can walk along river) - Stunning Riverside lodge, family-run (and built!)
Miss China, her family and staff plus Clarissa Cookie (the cat) đ made our stay so special.
Itâs a beautiful location, great food & rooms are comfortable and clean (rustic & authentic lodge)
The staff walked us along river with machetes to reach Amazinf Mayan Ruins & we also had great fun tubing on the river.
Really appreciates being droppped at the Belize Guatemala border too. đâ¤ď¸
- Denver (10/5): - The staff went out if their way to accommodate us and and facilitate our stay.
- Rick Weible (8/5): Wonderful staff. No air-conditioning. - Chena the owner is very accommodating. The delicious food was very well prepared by Linda. Mark did an excellent job of handling any of our requests. And Gwendolyn was a phenomenal tour guide. My wife has a problem with her left foot and had to wear a boot. They were a very accommodating and helping us in every way possible to meet our needs. If you were looking for a rustic adventure. This is the place for you. The small falls and river behind our private cottage set a soothing and mellow background for our stay. The staff and management could not have been better. But we were not expecting quite as rustic cottage as greeted us upon arrival. The floor was exceptionally clean, but unfinished concrete. It was so clean that when my wife spilled some water and wiped it up with a white paper towel, the paper towel retrieved no dirt. The walls were covered with a marble, like covering, and uniform in the bedroom. The bathroom was quite adequate, but no Tile and we're plain white. The most shocking part was no air-conditioning. For the price we paid, we expected air-conditioning. But it proved not to be a a difficulty. There were two fans in the room and the temperature was quite comfortable. There's no TV. The Wi-Fi did not work in our room. We are older and like to go to sleep earlier, so it was not much of an issue. I am taking medication that gives me hot flashes and because it was so quiet and dark I was only awake for a moment or so before drifting off back to a peaceful slumber.
- John (10/5): It exceeded all my expectations! - Perfect for what I ordered. Service was perfect too! Wine selection.
- Stacy (10/5): Quiet park like setting with exceptional hospitality. - Lovely park like setting. Quiet. The staff are superb, making us feel welcome. The owner and her son are shared stories and were knowledgeable about must see off the beaten path destinations. The food is simple, yet tasty. The fresh juices a must. I will definitely stay here again. What was there not to like!

- Allison D (10/5): A beautiful and peaceful property along the river with delicious food!! - This place is a gem! The three nights we spent at Clarissa Falls were our favorite on our trip to Belize. The resort is owned and operated by Chena, who is a friendly, kind, and attentive hostess. When we arrived, Chena helped us get set up with a trip across the border to Tikal -- and she made it so easy for us! She also gave us some other tour and activity recommendations that were all fantastic. She truly cares for each of the travelers that stay at Clarissa Falls.
During our stay, the food was absolutely delicious! Chena and her friendly staff hand-make all of the meals and they are served in a beautiful dining hut right on the river. Hummingbirds sped by while we ate.
The property itself if beautiful! It is quiet and peaceful, away from the road and right next to the river. Chena has planted many gorgeous bushes and plants all over the property, making it colorful and clean-looking. She also has lots of chickens, ducks, and geese hanging about with her dog and at least one friendly kitty. (Our kids loved playing with them all!) Our lodgings were right along the river and were rustic. (Yes, we are in Belize, and lodgings pretty much everywhere are very basic. It's part of the charm of Belize!) The beds were pretty comfortable and we all slept well despite not having A/C. Chena has several fans in each room to keep the air circulating at night, but we really didn't need them in January. Plus, the fans drown out the sounds of the wildlife, which we wanted to hear.
We would not hesitate to stay here again! Nothing.
- Shannon (10/5): Peaceful stay in the jungle. - Amazing jungle stay with the best hostess. The owner and host, Chena is welcoming, accomodating, informative, great company, and a tremendous cook. The property was better than expected. Situated on a river with plentiful tropical plants surrounding the area, the vibe is calm and peaceful. Our meals were served in an open air restaurant overlooking the property. Our rustic family cabin was plenty spacious with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a family room, and a large bedroom. The property animals were a bonus for us! We love Clarissa Falls!
- Michael (10/5): Great people who go out of their way to make you comfortable. - The staff was amazing! The property isnât the best but the staff makes the place. No TV!
- Albert (10/5): - The hostess was so friendly, warm and most helpful We just stayed two days.
- Peg (10/5): Amazing experience! - Chena is the most welcoming person. She continually goes above and beyond. She made breakfast for us every day and we were able to book excursions through her, as well. WiFi can be spotty, but we weren't there to be attached to our devices.

We voelden ons helemaal thuis.
- Patrick (9/5): Lovely spot, great staff, delicious food. - This is a lovely place situated in a beautiful spot overlooking the actual Clarissa Falls. Chena, the owner, is delightful, as is all the staff we dealt with. She has built a lovely getaway in a great location near the Xunantunich Mayan site. We had breakfast and dinner, both outstanding, and some great margaritas. The cabins are very nice -- no frills but pleasant and clean. The only potential problem for some would be that the cabins are not air-conditioned. This wasn't really a problem for us -- the fans are powerful and we slept great. If you would need to spend time in them during the daytime, it might not be as pleasant, but we just slept there. There are lots of shady spots with hammocks!
- Panzetta (8/5): Very good - My 9 and 4 yr old children LOVED staying here and playing with the animals. The staff were all so kind and we felt right at home
- Philip (8/5): Felt like a retreat for restoring rest and good mental health - Cabin was set in the jungle with a river running at the back . Peaceful nature setting with bird and howler monkey sounds . Close to a small village and ruins . What will be the most memorable thing is not the property but the kind , amazing owner Miss Chenna . Felt like we were at home . Always happy and smiling , nothing too much trouble . Insignificant detail but maybe more comfortable chairs for sitting outside cabin
- Tammie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (10/5): The facilities were super clean and authentic Belizean. Many thoughtful touches throughout. The general manager, Chena, - The property was beautiful jungle, with many animals peacefully roaming and a river running alongside tbe property. Nothing!
- Pickering (10/5): Top notch casual and flexible. Friendly animals. Clean. - The owner Chena was very kind. Her dog and cat were great. The food was terrific. Easy location near interesting Mayan sites. Good internet.
- Moore (10/5): Amazing family trip at Clarissa Falls - I loved how immersed into the jungle we were at this property. It felt safe and comfortable.
- Amanda (10/5): Chena and her staff were amazing hosts and went above & beyond to make our stay special & memorable! - The property is lush and gorgeous with the cutest little cabins and hammocks everywhere. The riverfront was clean and so refreshing to swim in! Chena was so sweet and helpful, and even called around to help us book excursions last minute. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed, and we were very sad to leave. Cannot wait to come back! The wifi was very spotty, but to be expected far out in the jungle!
- Colleen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brent (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - owner was the best Nice location and accomodations near San Ignacio
- Cymantha (10/5): Loved every second would definitely stay again - Beautiful area with a river running right on the property. The restaurant onsite always had delicious food! Chena the owner was absolutely amazing! She goes above and beyond for all of her guests. She makes it a point to talk to you and get to know your plans while there and offers suggestions. As a solo traveler I felt extremely safe there. A little off the beaten path but thatâs what also makes the property so enjoyable
- Julie-kay (9/5): A charming waterfall location at a great price with lovely owner and staff. - A beautiful location right next to the falls with traditional cabanas set in grounds with chickens, geese and turkeys roaming free; a delightful knowledgeable and helpful owner with lovely staff. The restaurant offers a good view of the falls and a wonderful chance to watch hummingbirds feed. The track from the main road is rough, but itâs a local government road.
- Dennis (10/5): Best place to stay before visiting Tikal. Owner\staff ridiculously great. - There were too many great things to say about this location. The owner, Chena, was extremely nice and helpful during our entire stay. The property is right next to a river (with falls and a great swimming hole) and is a preserve of an old cattle ranch still in Chena's family. The bungalows were very comfortable and clean, with many decorative touches and amenities having been made by Chena herself. The restaurant on the property is full service and tasty as well. Our stay here centered around a trip to the Tikal ruins in Guatemala - we stayed the first night at Clarissa falls resort, leaving our rental car there as well while we were away, with Chena arranging all the travel to and from Tikal using drivers she has had long and excellent service from. We stayed the final night at Clarissa falls upon return from Tikal so we could get an early start back to the coast for some snorkel time. An added bonus for this resort is that it is very close to the Xunantunich ruins for a quick visit there. Lastly I wanted to say how much we appreciated Chena's over-and-beyond assistance with our challenges that started the day before when we discovered our credit card had been hacked and disabled.
- Paula (10/5): It's so magical and peaceful at this place, we will be back. - The food was made to order and very good. Staff very friendly and attentive. The coffee, Garlic Tea and Ginger tea very good. Chena, the owner, sorry if I misspelled her name is so personable, she baked a chocolate cake for my birthday and made it Vegan so one of my daughters could eat it. It was yummy! A longer stay would have been better. So much Flora and Fauna to see. The water fall and river is so tranquil.
- Keara (10/5): Chenna, the owner, was wonderful and welcoming! We felt like family. - A wonderful Belizean family-owned place. Very comfortable and beautiful.
- Tyler (10/5): If I could give more than 10 stars I would. An unforgettable and life changing experience. - The location, scenery, food, and ambience was all excellent. Above all the people who operate the place made this an unforgettable experience, especially Chena.
- Matthew (10/5): rejuvenating - Chena is an incredible hostess and makes you feel like family and the rest of the the staff was equally fantastic. Swimming and tubing in the river, ruins, butterflies and more! We had to leave.
- Cozza (10/5): Great bang for the buck. - The location was absolutely amazing. Being right in the jungle next to the river was so cool. One morning we woke up to some mist which made everything more wonderful. The food there that Chena + crew made was absolutely top notch. We loved our stay here, and we want to come back soon.
- Ariel (9/5): Superb -
- Silvaana (10/5): Charming Clarissa - I loved the natural environment and the delicious food and the very friendly staff. Above all, Ms Chena is di best hostess ever! I loved my stay.
- Marielle (10/5): Relax and rejuvenate. - Chena was so lovely to talk with and the food she makes is delicious! The gardens and animals are very peaceful. It really has a retreat feel. She also helped us easily book a tour to atm and navigate our way around the area.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - We had the best time at Clarissa Falls. The property is so peaceful and beautiful. The river runs directly behind the cabins. The cabin was simple but cozy. The owner Chena is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. She treated us like family. She helped us plan our activities and we had fun with all of her recommended tours. The food was delicious- we ate all of our breakfasts there and most of our dinners. We didnât want to leave and we would definitely stay there again.
- Lynn (10/5): Absolutely paradise, a warm and welcoming place for the holidays. - Clarissa Fall is a beautiful peaceful retreat. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Chena treated us like family, making sure all our needs and some were met. There was nothing not to like. Very beautiful and relaxing
