- Kylie (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (8/5): Very good -
- Ilyaas (8/5): Small room but convenient location - Close to everything Very small room
- Favian (8/5): Very good -
- Erin (10/5): A wonderful first taste of Singapore. - I loved how quiet and private the rooms are and in a great ( and not quiet) part of town. I loved how friendly and helpful the staff were. I am not a carpet in my room fan. That’s being picky!! 🤣
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Ekaterina (8/5): Very good -
- Erin (10/5): Exceptional - Staff and location and quiet
- Sally (7/5): Good -
- The (10/5): Exceptional - Location was superb Limited breakfast options
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sook (6/5): Scarlett Hotel Singapore review - Great location Our room was too small for the price paid. It was outside above jaccuzi area so not covered when it rained.
And corridors were too dark.
- Vicki (9/5): Very nice hotel. - Very nice boutique style hotel in the perfect location in Chinatown. I found the corridor to our room on third floor a little dark.
- Marie (9/5): Superb - Excellent location, easy check-in, clean
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - Didn't have breakfast at hotel. Loved the fridge which was restocked every day. Was was always welcome. Not applicable loved everything.
- Elaine (9/5): Comfortable stay in Chinatown! - Great location in Chinatown, next to the Maxwell Hawker Centre, MRT station and many other attractions. Small but comfortable room, clean and modern bathroom.
- Tg (8/5): Very good -
- F. (9/5): Superb -
- Walaiporn (9/5): Superb -
- Heleen (8/5): Location is perfect. Comfortable room. - Location is perfect, right next to Maxwell Food Court, China Town and the subway. Also easy walk to the basically everything including Marine Bay. Room is comfortable. Good shower. Staff was friendly and free water, fruit, and mini bar refill every day. If you book a room with a balcony it is opposite a parking lot. So you do need earplugs for the mornings. It is reasonably quiet at night though. It is Singapore, so a balcony is a luxury even if it is across a parking lot. The carpets are a bit stained/dated and the aircondition vent looked dirty. The room was clean however.
- Karsten (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Pamela (10/5): wander wildly revel in serenity - atmosphere and decor; staff; location; bedroom; nothing
- Simon (5/5): Passable - Staff good Room was small with no window.
Mould in bathroom due to poor ventitation
Hotel needs a major reno
- James (7/5): Good -
- Jayne (9/5): Superb - Staff were lovely and very helpful. No window in room. Happy with everything else.
- Lance (8/5): Very convenient for our purposes. - The mini bar was free and restocked daily. There was a lot more of loud music outside that went on into the early hours. Beyond the control of the property. They did try to offer an alternative room, but it was not far away enough. They did provide ear plugs though.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful Decor and Wonderful staff. The location is perfect.
- Simon (7/5): Ready for a refurb and i will be choosy about the room I am given next time. - Great staff and a superb location opposite the Hawker Centre and also close to where I was working. I also like the fruit bowl and the two snickers bars in the minibar! Noise. I had trouble sleeping because of the neighbour shouting into his phone and also noise from a group (in the bar?). Also the aircon was noisy.
- Pamment (9/5): Superb - Very central to mtr and Chinatown
- Alex (9/5): Very nice hotel at a fantastic location, would return again - The location is unbeatable, in the hart of China town, close to several MRT stations - I think that's what tourists like us may need if they come to experience culture. The stuff is very nice and helpful, the room was very comfortable and very clean.
PS: honestly, I can't understand why someone would need breakfast in a location like this. There are multiple hawker centres and excellent restaurants nearby, many of them Michelin-recognized, so the food is truly outstanding. Take this opportunity to try something new every morning. The bar that everyone talks about here was noisy over the weekend, but it didn’t bother me much, as they turned off the music around 11:00 PM. However, those who go to bed early or are sensitive to outside noise should keep this in mind.
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Great location just 3 minutes walk from Maxwell MRT and right in the middle of Chinatown. Nothing.. it’s great value
- Winnie (7/5): Pleasant stay, and wishing the staff our best as they move to new employment opportunities. - Staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the complimentary water and fruits. Proximity to Maxwell Food Centre and MRT was a plus. Easy to get to Chinatown via walking. The building being older meant poorer sound-proofing (so lots of noise from outside), ants in the room, and was generally quite run down. It is due for an overhaul, and hence Scarlet is closing down.
- Jeff (3/5): They should be closed until renovated. The staff was great. - They told me they are closing for renovation, but they should not be charging these prices for carpets that are horrible. The staff was super nice. The dingy hallway is very long, horrible red walls, tired red carpet for 50 years ago tears in them small room
- Madalina (9/5): Superb - All: the stuff, location, the room.. nothing
- Victoria (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cameron (10/5): Great location, great service - Excellent hotel, committed to providing great service. We had a late check-in and there was no issue. The room was compact, spotlessly clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. En-suite was clean and modern, good shower and good supply of towels. Mini bar is complimentary and included a bottle of wine, coconut water and other drinks. Mini bar was replenished free of charge each day. Location is great as it is only 2 minute walk to China Town market area. Front desk reception staff highly attentive and went to great lengths to explain everything and all the amenities. They arranged for taxi service to collect us from hotel. Definitely a hotel to consider when staying in Singapore
- Sarah (9/5): I really enjoyed my stay , it was nice and local to amenities , there was every thing I needed and more - It was nice and cosy , and the old gave it character , The walls and floors were very thin , upstairs it sounded like they were elephants , could hear every step
- Rina (10/5): I had a PERFECT stay and will book again! - I arrived late—past 1:30 AM—and was warmly welcomed with a fresh cold towel and a refreshing lychee-infused iced tea, which immediately made me feel at home.
The hotel is boutique, swanky, and beautifully designed with thoughtful details throughout. My room was bright, spacious, and well-appointed with great lighting, plenty of plug-ins, a mini-bar (completely free and restocked daily!), a big comfortable bed with four fluffy pillows, and lots of closet space.
The area is peaceful yet close to everything—just steps from Chinatown, the MRT, and a short walk to Marina Bay Sands. Around the corner, there’s a charming lounge bar with unique drinks and the friendliest little dog named Dodo.
The hotel team was amazing—very friendly and helpful. Even though it was a holiday Monday in Singapore, they offered me use of their boardroom and coffee so I could work comfortably. Housekeeping went above and beyond—refreshing the room daily and even folding my clothes.
The gym, while compact, had enough equipment to fit in a good workout. Overall, an incredible stay and one I would highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back! The room carpets could use a deeper cleaning or refresh.
The elevator access required a bit of a walk, and on the third floor, there’s an extra half-flight of stairs to reach some rooms, which could be challenging for those with heavy luggage or mobility issues.
The shower stall had great water pressure but might feel tight for larger guests, and there was some leaking outside the shower door.
The gym was small, and the treadmill was out of service during my stay.
While the view from my window was limited (facing other condos), the natural light was appreciated.
- Ria (9/5): All in all, it was a pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. - The location was perfect. Close to the hawker center, temples, shops and train station The noise coming from the bar
- Matt (8/5): Very good - Close
To China town and transport good
Roof top bar
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zakk (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lewis (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (9/5): Enjoyable - Very helpful staff. Hotel in a great location. Enjoyed the rooftop bar. It would have been good to have breakfast, but it was easy to go over the road to get morning coffee.
- Joseph (9/5): Superb -
- Kephren (10/5): A great spot, with old school charm and wonderful staff - Close to everything and the staff were brilliant!
Room was great.
- Jovelyn (9/5): Superb -
- Damon (9/5): Superb -
- Daniela (8/5): Brilliant@ thank you Scarlet Team. - Excellent location, very close by the metro station Maxwell and to the food market with the same name. The team from the reception very helpfull and always smilling.. Very clean room. The fridge was refilled daily with water, juices and snickers chocolate. The size of the room was decent for Asian standards.bathroom quite large compared with what I has last year in Hong Kong. The room was on the noisy side of the hotel. I could hear the cars and the noise from the clubs until midnight.this is the only the weak point of my stay.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb - Very unique style and decor.
Kind, helpful staff.
Near MRT station.
Free mini bar in room. Nothing at all.
- Luca (7/5): Good -
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (9/5): Loved Singapore, plenty do and see if maybe a little expensive if you are not careful. Will Return. - Location was great, right in Chinatown with the MRT on the doorstep. Plenty of Bars and Restaurants within minutes walk. Window overlooked the bins in an adjacent alleyway but to be fair we spent limited time in the room.
- Jane (8/5): Great for one night - Very clean room. Lots of complimentary items, including botle of wine and all snacks and drinks. Quiet room. Staff helpful and friendly. Carpets and decor in foyer and hallway very worn and tired. No proper window in the room, although I tried my best to book one online that did have a window.
- Isabelle (9/5): Great stay - Great location, and very comfortable room. Staff were brilliant
- Kok (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (9/5): My stay was awesome. the vibes of the place were awesome, esp for a couple. - Unlimited mini bar, clean, daily cleaning, well air conditioned. The pillows are big/high but that's about it.
- Omer (8/5): Very good - Location is good. Close to metro station. We booked twin room, they said we cant commit to provide it, they provided it anyway. But we didnt know what will happen until checkin. If you have to get twin room, it might not be the best choice.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Vassilis (9/5): Atmospheric hotel - Superb ambience and good location near Chinatown The property overpromises in terms of mystery and atmosphere. It's difficult to match this with the very polite and helpful staff, who come across as trainees reciting a procedure. The rate is similar to most 5-star hotels in the city. It's a question of taste. Light switch arrangement not ideal.
- Eason (9/5): Lovely. Pass through Singapore once or twice a year and usually stay at a modern high rise - Boutique small hotel with nice touches retaining the shop house's character. Great location for a stopover with Maxwell Road Food Court 2 mins away. I booked a room with a balcony to make sure I had a window. Would not have liked a room without, and I gather there are some. A view of a multistory car park but I think that is realistic for a low rise hotel. I enjoyed sitting out there.
- Shelley (8/5): Very good -
- Albany (10/5): I’d come back! - Rooms were comfortable and service was friendly. Good location, too Sometimes the key stopped working. Sort of a dark walk to the rooms. These are minor things, I was happy and would stay again
- Nancy (9/5): Superb - The location is fantastic. Room super clean but the hotel is outdated. Overall it was a very good place to stay and have the local ambience .
- Emily (7/5): Good -
- Llewellyn (6/5): Interesting design, friendly staff but poorly maintained. - Staff are very friendly and able. Poorly constructed and maintained. Everything is clean, but damaged or not repaired.
- Jones (10/5): Beautiful and unique hotel in Singapore - Chinatown - This is a cute little boutique hotel with lavish design. A little odd in shape, but it felt luxurious. Great bed and amenities, offered little bits of free fruit and drinks each day, the gym was perfect, in an absolutely prime location.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Yaroslavna (10/5): Most highly recommend! - Amazing welcome and accommodation. Staff super attentive and helpful. Splendid rooms, exceptionally comfortable beds and mini bar drinks included in the price paid for the rooms. Wonderful rooftop bar. Most importantly, even after the departure from hotel, the staff remained super professional and accommodating and assisted with extraordinary request and services.
- Tg (9/5): Very well located and great value for money. - Very well located, nice and friendly staff, good value for money. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom surprisingly large. This is now my third stay in the hotel in a row. Always been very satisfied.
- Vaughn (9/5): Superb - location was terrific
- Jean (10/5): Brilliant staff. Great hotel and location. - Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff Nothing
- Ian (8/5): A Singapore hotel in Chinatown with individual style. - A hotel with an individual personality, quirky and it's own charm . The staff were most obliging and helpful......Ms Putri in particular. While the corridors / carpet look tired and need replacing/ repainting etc the room we had was fine. A shame the hotel is closing down at the end of May 2025 for refurbishment and possibly loosing it's current decor style and charm. We would certainly stay there again.
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Megan (10/5): Wonderful location and room! - Delightful all the way through! Steps from the hawker food market with so many kinds of delicious food and juices. Across the street from the Buddhist temple and shopping center. So central! Beautiful room, quiet and clean.
- David (8/5): Excellent location - great staff -
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Location, staff and extras Size of the room
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tim (8/5): In a tough city for housing/hotels, Scarlet is a great option given the local. - Beautiful rooms, for the most part on a quiet street. Staff is quite helpful. Location is about as ideal as possible for Singapore! It would be better to not advertise a fitness center given the low level of the present one... Also the doors really need improved: I kept my key card away from magnets but honestly daily my card stopped working.
- Gregory (10/5): Fantastic location and a very comfortable room. - Very nice room as the hotel was not too busy we received a nice upgrade room with a balcony window, very clean and nicely decorated. perrfect location near China town and subway stop.
- Robbie (8/5): Very good -
- Naoko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mann (10/5): 4 night stay - Nice boutique hotel in Chinatown, not the run of the mill high rise block chain hotels prevalent in the centre.
Rooms some would consider small but comfortable.
Roof top bar nice touch.
But best of all.... minibar complimentary, including one bottle of wine ... refilled every day 👍👍
Location superb close to Maxwell MRT and bars and restaurants on Club Street...
Thoroughly recommend. Not a lot really...😎
- Caroline (10/5): Fabulous 3 nights in wonderful and authentic hotel in great location. - The staff are so lovely. Nothing is too much trouble. Quirky boutique design. The comfiest beds ever! Cute rooftop bar for evening drinks and light bites. Such a great find. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a non chain hotel. Nothing
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wood (8/5): Great location, highly recommended. - Great location, friendly staff, complimentary water and mini bar. Lobby and hallway a bit dated, shower drain slowly.
- Prue (9/5): Superb - Excellent location for Chinatown and very easy access to the MRT.
- Theresa (10/5): Pleasant with excellent friendly staff. - LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT WITH JUST A SHORT WALK TO MARKETS AND RESTAURANTS. Room was a fair size, a liitle surprised there was no outside view. Nothing we did not like.
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Beautiful hotel, staff super helpful. Great location next to Maxwell hawker stalls
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely hotel. Great location. Nice selection of free snacks but didn't realise the mini bar was also free! Nothing
- Fijak (10/5): Exceptional - Super cool hotel. Very swanky, well decorated. GREAT LOCATION. Right outside Chinatown and right across the street from subway station, perfect!! Super clean, awesome rooms, smallish, but very well appointed, layout. Bed was comfy, about a medium for softness, definitely not firm, definitely not plush, just right. Staff was really nice & helpful with recommendations and getting us anything we needed.. 5 stars 10/10! Nothing, all good 👍
- 2012siukit (8/5): The hotel is great for value. - Staff were very friendly and welcoming, room size is good for the price, the fridge (minibar) which has a variety of beverage are complimentary, location is very convenient and only a few mins walk to the MRT station and Chinatown. One minor thing is that the shower water supple is quite slow, and it took like a few mins for the hot water to come through, other than that I have no other complains and we've enjoyed our stay there.
- Yasmin (8/5): Great location, next to transportation and great places to eat - Location, rooftop bar, minibar and wonderful staff Hotel is worn down needs a facelift
- Yasmin (8/5): We wnjoyed the rooftop deck bar and thw location - Well located and staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was worn down, needs a bit of a facelift. This bring said were comfortable.
- Nicola (9/5): As close to perfect as possible for value and individuality. - The unexpected complimentary fruit and snacks as well as free room bar. Quirky decor handy to interesting part of Singapore Absolute nothing
- Sarah (5/5): Wouldn’t return. - Not much really. Bad choice. No staff to meet us on arrival. No swimming pool and hot tub out of use. Bedrooms were absolutely tiny.
- Rollason (10/5): Exceptional - Just across the road from Chinatown. New stylish hotel with old world charm and appearance. Nothing
- John (9/5): Perfect 3 day trip to do all the things on our list... - The room was very comfortable, and had everything we needed, the complimentary mini bar was an added bonus, which was refilled each day, staff were very friendly, walking distance to Chinatown (2 minutes), and an easy 20-30 minute walk to Raffles and the bars and restaurants by the river. Also taxi's etc weren't that expensive if visiting Gardens By The Bay.
