Guest Reviews
- laura (9/5): Worth a Read! - The place was super cute! It felt homey and comfortable. The house was spacious and well lit despite all of the trees surrounding the house. Great views front and back and very close to the township which was convenient. The surrounding areas make for some beautiful walks! And you feel like you are in a fantasy place, out of a storybook. Just gorgeous! As soon as we arrived there, we were being watched through the window of the neighbours house. They watched us like hawks for some time and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, it felt like an invasion of privacy.
Also something worth noting, the tiles in the bathroom were painted over and peeling very noticeably which didn't help the feeling of cleanliness in the bathroom. The shower is over a bath that was clogged to some extent because it would fill up while showering but would drain after sometime, once the water had been turned off.
The dinning room was hilariously small but it was cute! There was obvious damage to walls, like someone had dragged the table across the wall or hit the chairs into walls but the space worked as a dinning room and we found it fun and functional.
But other than those points, it was great! We enjoyed every moment of it, the rest of the house was great! The beds were super comfortable! They had plenty of blankets to keep warm and pillows for comfort, we were all very comfortable! Overall, the place was good and the experience was great!

- tak ming (3/5): Poor - Spacious The place I'm living in doesn't have heating, and the landlord hasn't prepared any firewood for me to make a fire. We staying at cold all night with my kid. That’s horrible
- Annabel (10/5): -
- huaning (10/5): Little gem in olinda - Walking distance to the shops. It's super quiet night time
- Dina (8/5): Quaint little cottage with peaceful backyard in the heart of Olinda township. - Quaint little cottage with pretty backyard and bonus little empty studio space for an impromptu yoga session or some interpretive dancing. Easy check-in and good communication from hosts. Cosy interior, close to the township of Olinda, and an easy walk to the beautiful botanical gardens. Good for a two person stay when you require a bedroom each. Afforded privacy and was peaceful and comfortable for a one night stay. The towels were not very well washed.
- Nancy (9/5): Perfect for a cosy winters weekend in the hills! - Perfect location to stroll into Olinda and all the villages. The house felt nice and cosy, beds were comfortable and we enjoyed an evening with the lovely fire. Would love to return! Nothing!
- Robyn (7/5): Good -
- Farnad (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (6/5): It was in a lovely location. - Central location Hospital grade disinfectant smell that did not go, almost unbearable
Flies inside upon our arrival
Very stale cereal
Sticky floors
Outside area on deck looked like it hadn’t been prepped for our stay

- Kane (10/5): Beautiful cosy cottage - Beautiful home and loved the fireplace
- Yolande (8/5): Very good - The setting, aesthetic and comfort of Misty Haven were excellent. Close to Olinda's main street yet quiet and peaceful, this home was comfortable and cute. The hot water system was perhaps a little too safe. A warmer shower would have been nice.
- Janine (10/5): Lovely night in a cute house walking distance to the main street of Olinda - I liked the location, the original features and the cleanliness of the property Nothing
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isabella (10/5): Exceptional - The house and area was beautiful, the house was a 2 minute walk from the main street, and less then 10 minute drive from everything else.
- Clarke (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): It was what we needed - Location Lights and lamp not working and nutrrgrain was stale.
- Jessica (10/5): Beautiful little cottage in the heart of olinda - The house was amazing and clean, we enjoyed out stay and would definitely return
- Semiha (6/5): Could have been better but okay for the one night - Location was great, we only stayed the night to be close to Puffing Billy Murder Mystery night.
The house was decorated nicely and looked cozy. I had the pleasure of staying at this place, where I encountered a few memorable quirks. For starters, the TV was more of a decorative piece, and despite my late-night message about it, the host decided to grace me with silence. I get it—messages sent at midnight aren’t always answered—but I messaged when I discovered the tv didn’t work as I didn’t want the host to think I somehow broke the TV myself. The host never ended up responding to the message, even the next day. Despite being connected to the wifi, the TV did not work. I logged onto my Netflix account and it did not load, YouTube the same videos would not work, even the TV channels had a blue screen come up with sound only no visuals.
The bathroom was a delightful surprise too, proving that "neat" is quite the flexible term. Despite the host's insistence on cleanliness, I found myself pondering if “clean” had been redefined in this case. In this case there was hair everywhere upon arrival.
The place also needs a deep clean, the couch covers were filthy and full of stains. An ancient lip balm fell out of one of the pockets and under the beds were very dusty.
There was also a weird smell that would come out of no where, I believe it happened every time we flushed the toilet.
But the true highlight was the heater. I was instructed to turn it off if I ventured out, which was a fantastic touch for a chilly night. After all, why should you come back to a warm house after a freezing night out? It’s like a cozy little challenge: survive the cold and still enjoy the amenities you’re paying for. Overall, an unforgettable experience—if only the host had responded, it might have been a bit warmer in memory as well.
- Frances (9/5): Superb - Great cottage feel, beautiful inside and out. Enjoyed our stay.
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (7/5): Enjoyable - Location and access really good. Property was a bit tired.
Needed more firewood and fire tools!
- Bonnie (10/5): Excellent - Peaceful, comfortable, thoughtful.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leesa (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (8/5): Idyllic quaint cottage in central location. - The selection of tea, coffee and cereal. I reached out to request kindling and firewood before our stay. No paper was provided to help get the fire going. Fortunately we were able to get the fire started but it would be nice to have everything needed to get the fire started easily. Or ultimately, have it all set up.
- Kendel (7/5): cosy little getaway , great location - Location is excellent , close to shops and walks.Beds really comfortable.Lovely lounge area , warm and cosy. Due to weather unable to use outside area. Wine glasses would be a great. Fire bricks for coonara as not enough kindling to get it going.
- Wendy (9/5): Cozy in Olinda - Lovely, cozy place. We loved the fireplace and surrounding gardens. Although it was very wet during our stay, it just made everything feel more cosy being indoors. We appreciated the assorted teas and milk that was supplied. Beds were also very comfortable! The central heating was also great. Perhaps some face washers would have been nice but everything was overall great so no complaints.
- Jacqueline (10/5): From the drive through the Dandenongs a quick stop at the local coffee shop to the short drive to the house was beautif - Location was perfect very quiet. The house is beautiful in and out. No complaints at all
- Roslan (8/5): Very good - Clean and cozy
- Christine (8/5): Exactly what I Waa s looking for, cosy comfortable environment. - I loved the central heating and the Conarra. Beds were comfy. Very cosy environment. It did have a weird smell, maybe the cleaning products? Shower/bath outdated but worked perfectly. Going out at night the porch light doesn't show the last 2 steps out so a bit dangerous. We had to go out looking for something to start the fire as there wasn't any paper or firelighters.
- Kaylene (7/5): Very relaxing - The property was quaint. It had everything you needed. Beds very very comfortable.!location fantastic I do think the cleaners do need to clean light switches door handles They were filthy. I had actually cleaned all them myself Other than that it was lovely
- Annica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Travis (8/5): Good - Good Good
- Lynette (8/5): Very good - Fab location and lovely garden. Poor lighting in lounge and the tall lamp didn't work. Bedroom at front also had very poor lighting and only one lamp available.
I was surprised to see a stack of books that all had sad titles: damaged, cut, abandoned, left neglected, this doesnt project a relaxing vibe. Also, there is only one glass available in kitchen.
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Nice quaint cottage Freezing cold ,no way to get warm except to light the fire , said central heating ,but couldn't find anything, no air-conditioning.
- Jessica (2/5): Disappointing and disrespectful. - The property was double booked and people showed up to check in on the Saturday. The cleaner also threw out my mothers belongings and we had to drive back to take them out of the bin.
- Priyanka (8/5): Very good -
- Simone (9/5): Relaxing, cosy cottage in great location - Location and layout nothing
- Olga (8/5): Very good - Location, property was clean and well equiped for a short-getaway It would be good to know for sure that we could use the fireplace and maybe have some instructions on how to use it safely. Could not find cling wrap. It is possible that it was somewhere in the kitchen, we just could not locate it. Otherwise everything was great, thank you very much
- Jan (2/5): Very poor - Pretty old house, step to outside was broken, house was cold, dining area incredibly small couldn't eat around the table. Incense in one room was way too strong.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (8/5): Accomodation was perfect but felt the host wanted to grab extra $’s where possible. - Cosy and clean in the perfect location just a stones throw away from the Main Street. I couldn’t faulted the property at all. However having to travel for three hours and the need to freshen up for a wedding at 3.30 I was disappointed that extra money was required to “reschedule” cleaning for a slightly earlier check-in even though asking three months in advance of travel. Luckily another family members host was more than willing to accommodate an earlier check in by two hours allowing us to use their facilities. Having family around Olinda and Kalista we will probably look elsewhere when attending the next family function.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aggie04 (10/5): Amazing, WILL recommend - The whole experience was fantastic, the house was cute and cosy and everything was well equipped. N/A
- Neo (10/5): Exceptional - The place is well-maintained, and kitchen equipment seems new. A cosy cottage with nice furnishing that my family loves so much.
- Emma (8/5): Beautiful old cottage in nice location. - Beautiful cottage in pretty area, just a short walk to little township. Lots of thoughtful extras included like breakfast cereals, board games etc. Bath and hand basin drains were almost completely blocked. Took hours for sink/bath to empty after a shower. I messaged host to let them know but received no response. We ended up cleaning our teeth in the kitchen. Quirks of old homes I guess. An iron would also be nice to have.
- Greta (9/5): Our stay at Misty Haven was simply fabulous. - The location was superb and the house was absolutely gorgeous. The shower didn’t drain very well and the toilet roll holder was broken.
- Selina (3/5): Convenient but frustrating experience - It is a decent size of the unit with convenient location near the town centre (except for the random evacuation siren in the evening), and decently furnished. We only booked for 1 night in the property. But we were falsely accused of damaging a tea towl and a bed sheet in a way no reasonable person would do in a rental property and we were asked to pay extra money to cover the so called "damage". After contacting booking.com customer service team, we were advised there is a formal Damage Policy, and the property owner should directly contact booking.com for the investigation. Then booking.com (not the owner) will contact the guests. Very frustrated for the whole experience and would never stay there again.
- Sharma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional - Cute cottage, perfect for what we needed Sink in the bathroom was blocked
