The highlight of our stay was definitely the balcony—we spent most of our time there enjoying the view and relaxing. We were given a room that was different from what we booked. Assurances were given that our assigned space was an upgrade, but according to Booking.com, it is slightly less per night than what we booked.
• Gavrila Amadea (10/5): Very well located building and responsive host. - The location was super close to the Balat touristy area, yet not very noisy due to its location two blocks away from the main street. There are plenty of food stalls nearby. The host was suppppeerr duppeeerrr helpful and on standby. We were accidentally locked out in the terrace, and Sahin was very responsive and did many things to help us out. Also, the fridge was full of food, my favorite was the instant noodles.

• Andrej (5/5): Gute Lage, ungepflegte Wohnung mit defekter Dusche und stinkender Toilette. - Kühlschrank war einmal gut gefüllt. Die Lage war gut. Platz war genug für einen kurzen Aufenthalt. Der Muezzin war nicht so schlimm wie befürchtet. Die Dusche ist defekt, es fehlt eine der beiden Schiebetüren. Die Toilette stinkt furchtbar. In der Wohnung wurden an mehreren Stellen Reste von Vormietern gefunden, zB. in der Küche, im Wohnzimmer. Die Matratzen im Wohnzimmer sind durchgelegen, so dass man die Federn spürt. Die Treppe ist gefährlich. Das Haus ist nicht das von den Fotos.
• Egorov (7/5): Очень рад, что был в этом месте, расположение замечательное. - Рядом много кафе где можно прекрасно позавтракать, завтрак в аппартаменты мы не заказывали и сами не готовили, хотя в аппартаментах есть все условия для самостоятельного приготовления. Отличное расположение. Радушный хозяин, всё объясняет и с заселением нет проблем. Отвратительный запах из туалета, который присутствует во всей квартире. Отсутствие какой либо вентиляции, очень душно. Окна и двери держать открытыми нельзя, заходят кошки (мы их любим и поэтому проблем не было, но люди могут реагировать по разному, поэтому предупреждаю). Кондиционер работает и дует прямо на кровать в спальне, но можно его отключить и спать в душном помещении.

• Marieke (8/5): We hebben het heerlijk gehad in Istanbul en in dit appartement!! - De locatie is zeer goed: in een leuke wijk met veel koffietentjes en restaurants en binnen 5-10 lopen bij de tram. Het is ook omgeven met veel locals. De hygiëne in de keuken kan beter: maak het een keer grondig schoon, mss een keer schilderen en kapot meubilair gewoon wegdoen: dan kan het er weer prima tegen.

• Iuliia (7/5): Charming place, but needs better upkeep. - I fell in love with the area and the idea of staying in a genuine historical house. The host was always in touch and ready to help. Overall, the apartments would benefit from more attention to detail and some minor repairs — the sink was cracked, the faucet was loose, the knife was bent, the teapot had an unpleasant smell with some rust or residue inside, and the toilet brush was dirty. The breakfast didn’t match the photos, and the quality of the products could have been better.

Very comfortable. Also, everything that you need (stovetop, utensils, kettle, fridge) is available in the house.

It's really close to the center of Balat; only a few hundred meters to the main street of Balat neighbourhood, but quiet enough to have a good rest because the surrounding buildings are houses of the locals. The facilities are great, just like what Sahin has mentioned before Sahin is also really cooperative as a host. He informed us of any inconvenience that might occur, such as temporary electrical shutdown from the local authorities Overall, it is such a nice stay
• Zeenath (7/5): The location is convenient, with easy access to transportation for moving around Istanbul. There a lot of shops for you - It is near all the shops and the train and buses. The wall is very thin. We could hear people's steps on top when they walked around their room.

Owner was very kind - we found water and some cake & coffee. 2 bedrooms - can sleep 4. Compact apartment but had all necessities. Equipped kitchen too. Main bedroom was on ground floor on the façade so if one has light sleep, street noises might wake you up. Toilet and sink very small, though shower good size.

• Elena (7/5): Convenient location but noisy - Great locations in Balat, sorrounded by cafés and restaurants. The bedroom balcony faces the speaker of a mosque right next to the apartment. You can hear the sunsire prayer really really loud early in the morning.
• Inge (9/5): Superb - Spacious studio apartment, good beds, 2 balconies, on top floor. The fridge was full of food and drinks, a very generous gesture. Surrounded by cafes, eateries, fruit and vegetables stand, bakeries. A 5 minute walk to the tram and bus. Balat and Fener are eclectic neighbourhoods. Recommended. Smelly bathroom drain, a little bleach and smell was gone. Very steep stairs. Kitchen is not well equipped. A pot to boil eggs would be great. And scissors. There is no need to cook as there is very inexpensive food all around.

• Todie (9/5): Superb - The location was awesome. The host also suoer nice and he was very helpful and flexible.. We liked the atmosphere of the whole area and the apartment as well. The host was very flexible! They stuffed the fridge for us for the whole stay for breakfast, it was nice and convenient. The apartment was a bit damp, but consideing it is a pretty old building it was allright. They even put an air purifier in the room, which is also a nice touch. The only thing that was missing from the kitchen is a toaster, otherwise you get everything to prepare a breakfast.

• Steven (7/5): Not Luxury - The location was interesting. Cabs or Uber wouldn't come to the exact location. It was on the third floor with a small curved stairway that was very difficult to get suitcases up the stairs. Couldn't drink the water.
• Alexander (10/5): Beautiful place to stay in Balat colored Houses neighborhood - The apartment located in the center of Bakat Renkli Evler, the colored houses. In 5 minutes walk from T5 tram station. It is large clean and very comfortable. Here you can find everything you need - iron, umbrellas, washing machine and the fridge full of food. It is really enough not only for breakfast. The host is polite and friendly and always ready to help. Beautiful place to stay in Istanbul.

Nice Kitchen, clean bathroom and beds and it was a pleasure communicating with the landlord. There was enough space for a small family. Balat is a great district. The balcony has a beautiful view A couple more dishes would have been nice in the kitchen. The terrace in the back is great for breakfast outside, but needs some chairs and a table
• Shani (9/5): Lovely little apartment in a quirky, fun neighborhood. - Şihan is an excellent host- very friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean and in a great location. It is a bit small for 2 adults who are not sharing a bedroom but was still comfortable enough nonetheless.
• Ionita (10/5): A great accommodation. - The host is a great person. Very communicative and always willing to help us. It was our first stay in Istanbul and first, he helped us order a transfer from the airport. After he helped us get a SIM card to be able to have internet on our phone. Also, he helped us exchange some TL taking into account that we arrived on Sunday at 1 AM. The apartment is comfortable having everything you need for a family vacation and it is very well positioned. 3 minutes to the station from where you can take the 99A bus to Eminonu or the 55T bus to Taksim. The apartment was very clean. Breakfast included was more than enough for when you arrive very early in the morning with kids and they scream for food. The beds are comfortable. Overall a great accommodation and a great host.

It was so nice to have food and drinks in the fridge and a washing machine. Balat is a lovely area to stay in. The noise from upstairs bothered us. You can hear everything on the wooden floors and we were unlucky that the guests upstairs got up at very unsocial hours.

• Veronica (7/5): Great host, cute location. Perfect if you value historic charm over modern luxury. - Charming location in a very hip and cute neighborhood. Historic home with lots of character. Fridge and pantry were fully stocked, and the host was very responsive and accommodating. Air conditioning and beds were comfortable. It was cool to hear the call to prayer every day as it is right next to a small mosque. When staying in historical areas, it’s typical to not have all of the conveniences and comforts. The area is not easily accessible to public transport, meaning we had to take taxis to get to most other areas of Istanbul. Also, the bathroom has a slight smell, likely from an older sewage system. We still enjoyed our experience as these things are to be expected when staying in a historic home and area.

• Karina (8/5): Excellent apartments for their price, but be prepared that there is a minaret opposite the apartment - The apartment is located in the Fatih district. Balat station is a seven-minute walk away, where you can catch the T5 rapid tram line. In just 5 minutes, you'll be near the bridge that leads to the city center, or you can transfer to the central M2 metro line. Fatih is an interesting and vibrant district, perfect for walking. The main downside of the apartment is that it is located directly opposite a minaret. It calls to prayer every day at 5 a.m., and if you have never been to Turkey, this could be a critical issue for you.

• Enesa (10/5): Charming - The location was perfect, close to the tram, boat, bussess. The area of Balat is very old, with lots of charm. The location itself is a bit small but had everything we needed, and the host Shahin is an absolute jewel. He made sure all of our whishes were met. Small streets of Balat got quite quickly crowded with tourists and cars. There is a smell characteristic to old houses, but I guess it comes with the neighborhood, and there is nothing the host could do about that.

• Megan (10/5): Very cute historic home in the fun Balat neighborhood. - A very cute and cozy historic stay in Balat. The house had everything you could need and they even had a stocked fridge full of drinks, snacks and Turkish breakfast, it was so kind. There was a washing machine, which was super helpful after 7 days of travel and soap available. There were even adapaters for the outlets which was so helpful. The best part was that the host was so kind and helpful in suggestions restuarants and a great hamam in the area. I would definately stay here again. Our only regret is that we didn't stay in Balat longer because there are so many cute shops and cafe in walking distance to explore. The bathroom was small and the toilet lid didn't stay up, but we managed. Everything else was great.

The localisation is fantastic, the fridge being filled with goods is also a very nice idea - however it might be tricky if you actually book the breakfast and expect it but at the end you have ingredients in the fridge to prepare it yourself ;) I'd recommend placing some hangers for towels at least, but of course it is not a crucial issue and you can get organised somehow with your things without it
• Pourya (9/5): It was a good stay. I recommend it to others. - Everything was perfect, especially the cleanliness of the apartment, which was really wonderful. Great location, peace, high quality mattresses and pillows, and everything you expect from your hotel apartment as a family. The only drawback was the lack of shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste in the room.

• Emmanuelle (10/5): Lovely stay - Balat/Fener area is one of my favorite districts in Istanbul. It is easy to reach thanks to the new T5 tramway and you can easily go anywhere using public transportation (there are direct buses to Taksim, tram to Eminonü, ferries, etc.. I love wandering in the streets among the colorful historical houses, and I love the mix of both popular and yet trendy vibes. It is not as touristy as other districts in Istanbul and you can really feel the special Istanbul atmosphere. Sahin has been very helpful and kind. I highly recommend the stay and I will surely come back!

• Sebastien (10/5): Amazing stay in Balat. - The location is amazing in the heart of beautiful Balat! The apartment caters everything you need. Sahin responds quickly to questions and is very helpful. The diy breakfast set makes up for an awesome Turkish breakfast! We experienced a problem with the microwave, but Sahin was very helpful, so he did his best to fix it quick and easily.
• Ramona (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect, close to the metro that will take you to grand Bazaar. The host communication was easy, the breakfast was amazing.
• Narges (8/5): We were in a good area with a great host - It was really center , close to the train and buss station, the owner was really nice and helpful The mosque was really loud :) The house was smaller than in the pictures.
• Minio1985 (10/5): Recommend in 100% - The fridge was filled with local produce. Everything fresh. Great location, all the necessary shops and restaurants close to the apartment. Balat is a great and beautiful district. Transport to the most famous attractions very close to the apartment (tram or ferry). The host Sahin is a wonderful warm man, very helpful. He lent us an Istanbul card. We didn't use taxis because the drivers are very cheating. As foreigners see, prices increase several times. It was a wonderful four days. • Johnny (9/5): Beautiful apartment in a unique part of Istanbul - We had a great stay at this spot. The immediate surroundings do not look so nice but it's next to the famous Balat colored houses and only a few blocks from many cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. The room was comfortable and looked like the photos. Our host was amazing. He met us at the apartment and helped us get settled. He filled the fridge with plenty of food to have our own Turkish breakfast every morning which was delicious. And when we had trouble finding a taxi to take us to our next location, he called a friend and negotiated a reasonable fare for us. If want to stay in a unique part of Istanbul in a nice comfortable place, we highly recommend this location. The building is directly across from a Mosque speaker, so the call to prayer is extremely loud if you have the windows open. There's also a lot of street traffic and the cars are not so hospitable to pedestrians.

• Eni̇s (10/5): Exceptional - First of all, I am happy that I made the right choice, there is everything you need during your stay. Easy check-in They also had Istanbulkart in the apartment so you can use public transportation in Istanbul, which is a great detail. Mr. Şahin, the landlord, responded instantly to everything I asked on WhatsApp and I really appreciated it. I was also attracted by the breakfast foods I saw in the cupboard, I can definitely choose the quality very well in terms of price. 250 m from the tram stop 250 m from bus stops 250 m from the market 100 m from the restaurant 150 m away. Balat fascinated me and I hope to see you again.
• Dharmesh (10/5): Exceptional - Place was good, just 10 mins commute by tram or bus to old Town, all touristy places are near by , the host was very helpful and helped us with every thing, he made sure to keep istanbul card for us so that we can have hassle free travel in the city... room were clean, big and comfortable.
