Guest Reviews
Rien
- Verity (10/5): Colourful family vibes - What an incredible experience - i felt like I was coming home to my Nubian family!! Fatima looked after me so well with delicious breakfasts and dinner, and Mohammed became my driver for the entire time I was in Aswan, like my auntie and uncle! In addition, the place is an explosion of colour and happiness, perfect for an artist like me. Its a bit more of a local spot which makes it more peaceful also, I didn't want to leave. You will love it, trust me <3
- lok yi (9/5): - Fatima and Muhammad are excellent host and eager to help with everything! We arrived late at night and Muhammad came to pick us up at a very reasonable cost. They organise tour to Philae also at a very reasonable cost and very smooth trip without the need to negotiate the boat. The breakfast is very good , typical Egyptian food. nothing
- Ben (9/5): Wonderful, authentic, very inexpensive Nubian guest-house - This is an absolutely beautiful, clean, quiet place run by lovely people. If you are looking for a quiet, authentic Nubian stay, this is it. It is not far from the airport (15 minutes), and we used their taxi service (reasonable price). It is not far from Philae Island, so we arranged the Philae island visit through them (also reasonable).
They make you feel at home immediately, with a welcome tea. Fatima makes an excellent (huge) breakfast with fantastic juices. We had dinner there 1 night (delicious, good price, and huge).
The Nubian bathrooms take getting used to (maybe ask for an extra towel/bathmat to put right outside the bathroom). It is a minor inconvenience, considering the quality of the rest of our stay.
Come here if you would like a real Nubian experience in a beautifully decorated place with great food, kind hosts, and quiet at night, at such a good price. There is no wifi (not a problem for us).
It might not be for a longer stay for some people, as the Nubian village is separate from the town. It was close to the main road (unlike other places in the Nubian village), so no need to drive long on difficult paths.
- Curtis (10/5): A warm and inviting place to stay that feels like home. They treat you like family. And very clean ! - The hosts were amazing, kind and generous. The place was extremely clean !
- Otavio Luis (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Great overnight stop that gives an insight into the Nubian way of life. - We used this property as an airport stop over. The place is very clean. The owner, Fatima is lovely. Fatima speaks very little English but google translate and sign language make up for this. The transfer between the property and airport was arranged through the property. Mohamed was the driver, he seemed closely linked to the property. He spoke good English and was very helpful.
You are staying in a Nubian Guest House, it is not a hotel. It is very basic, it does have ensuite facilities, it is very inexpensive.
It is interesting staying in a Nubian house, you get an insight into their way of life. The Nubian people are very hospitable.
As is the custom in Nubian homes there are pet crocodiles. It is a long way from Aswan so I would not recommend for a long stay.
- Rhani Sabry (7/5): - Lovely breakfast Not super convenient location, but fine if you like walking
- Chrisi (10/5): Ein wundervolles Hotel.
- Qihong (10/5): Very Freindly owner - Romantic
- Jui Yang (8/5): -
- Noa (10/5): - Great location, lovely owner, and always keen to help.
- YUKI (8/5): -
- PENGFEI (10/5): - The hostess was very warm-hearted. After our arrival, she offered each of us a free glass of juice. Although she couldn't speak English, she could accurately understand our needs. The room was clean, the water was very hot and the yard was very beautiful. The hotel has another name"torya nubian hotel aswan".The hotel is located in the Nubian village, so there is possibility of inaccurate positioning when taking a taxi.
- Maggie (8/5): Very welcoming! - Made you feel as if you were part of the family
Location
Value for money
Close to the airport
Quiet
The staff went out of their way to meet our needs There’s nothing that I dislike about property
- Maggie (8/5): A place that should not be missed - The staff went out of their way to help us
We were made to feel as a member of the family
Food was awesome
The location
Near to the airport There was nothing that I didn’t like about the hotel
- Maggie (8/5): A wonderful atmosphere, good food, and a family atmosphere - -Exceedingly helpful staff.
-Location.
-The morning breakfast.

-The value for money
-Near the airport.

- marine (9/5): - Location is at the back of the Nubian village and very close to the airport. The family is so nice and welcoming! Room is great with a view on the inner court : beds are amazingly comfy. Food dinner is a bit more pricey than what you can find outside in the town of Aswan however it is massive! Transportation price to airport is good. Would definitely recommend if you want to switch off and stay away from all the touristic areas in Aswan.
- rene (7/5): - Particularly friendly and helpful The furnishing of my accommodation was rather spartan, but functional nonetheless. The remote control for the air conditioning was missing. Unfortunately, there was no refrigerator.
- Tony (9/5): Very nice and helpful owner owner - Communication up front and during the stay was good - via Google translate. Fatima ( owner/caretaker) is almost 24 hours there to help. Breakfast was very tasty. They took care of ordering a taxi, getting apples, making extra tea. AC was working.
Location just off the main road to the airport Internet only if you have your own mobile data. No Wifi. I would strongly suggest to install Wifi Router with internet over the air.
- Mateo (10/5): - Proche de l'aéroport
Personnel en or
- Michael (10/5): Felt like a home and a family for our little stay in the Nubian village! - It is BEAUTIFUL, a work of art. It was a truly authentic experience. Fatima cooked us a whole fish for dinner that was so delicious. And she and her helpers took such good care of us. She showed us how to walk through the village and down to the new bridge for a view. Mohammed took us on a swimming adventure that was so relaxed and fun. Super great people!! And great location. You will be in good hands . Nothing to not like!
- acacia (10/5): - Lovely people, very clean, we loved our stay
- Kevin (9/5): - Colorful and beautiful interior!
Staffs were super kind and they’ve been so nice while caring about all aspects.
Nothing found as an issue about cleanliness.
If you ever have a chance to try a meal here, you should definitely try it—they serve a Nubian foods and it’s super good.
Lastly, their kids were so lovely :)) Nothing
- PEI HUNG (9/5): -
- Arlene (8/5): Very good - Friendly people, and very helpful and obliging, rustic hotel large rooms and good food. Doesn't have everything but good vibes. Loved the crocs. No WiFi and no big mirror in the room.
- Alyssa (10/5): My stay was short, but Mohammed and Fatima were excellent hosts. -
- Jurate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheng-lun (10/5): Authentic Nubian experience nearby airport - It's a lovely place with very nice hosts. Mohamed and Fatima are the best people I met in Egypt. The location might seem far away from Aswan city center, but it is very close to the airport. Mohamed also can drive you to anywhere you want at anytime. And unlike other hotels in Nubian village center, you don't need to ride a few kilometres of dirt road to get there. Kamel house is just around 100 meter away from asphalt road, very easy accessible.
We also had dinner prepared by Fatima. Food was very delicious. She also prepared breakfast for us at 4 am for our Abu Simbel tour and before our flight.
We booked the Abu Simbel transfer from them, it's AC medium bus, very comfortable. Not the no-AC minivan.
All in all, this is the place I would recommend to anyone who is coming to Aswan and wants to experience living in local village. It's definitely a nice experience. Don't expect fancy and modern hotel, but you will not regret. I am very happy that I spent money here in the local village rather than in a five-star hotel chain.
- Alexandre (10/5): 2 nights in Kamel house, from France - Very clean and colorful place. Fatima who manages the hotel is very nice and she helped us with all of our request, using the translation app'. She even called a company we had a booked trip with when she saw that the taxi was not arriving.
We felt at peace in this hotel, far away from all the noise and the vending crowd we encoutered in downtown.
I would come back here without hesitation, should i travel to Aswan again.
- Angelica (10/5): The perfect stay in a Nubian house - Kamel house is the typical Nubian house with all its charm and allure. Fatma, Muhammed and the whole family are just the best hosts, caring, kind and extremely helpful. The food was also great!
- Noha (8/5): Very good - The staff are amazing and very helpful. The food was excellent and homemade. Overall, you would feel like home at this place. We loved Hagga Fatma, Mohamed and Amouri. Would definitely go back again! The location.
- Nadia (10/5): Beautiful unique place with great hospitality! - We loved this place, so unique and beautiful and the hospitality was fantastic! Staff went out of their way to help us. We would like to say a special thanks to Mohammed the driver who helped us out when we were stuck, also to Fatima for cooking us dinner late at night when we didn’t have time to eat. We would love to come back again and spend longer next time. Nothing!
- Nastouli (10/5): Book Camel house, if you are staying in Aswan! - If you want to stay in a real Nubian house, this is the place to go. Colourful, with big, spacious rooms, very accommodating hosts, anything you need can be arranged for you, spend time with the family to get the real feel of their life, half hour walking distance to the other side of the village with the market and motorboats and feluccas. Pressure in the shower was so-so. Everything else was fantastic!
- Agathe (9/5): Kind people you'll get attached to - I am a young woman travelling alone in Egypt. Even if I don't show it, I don't let my guard down while travelling like this.
Fatma and Muhamed are extremely kind, they gave to my trip a family vibe. They are really nice, open-minded, available people. They really cared for me, out of sheer kindness, were adamant about some boy trying to get too close to me and helped me while I was super sick !! They perfectly understood my needs and made me discover things and people aligned with my interests. I felt safe in the hotel, and you'll see that if you are even lost, on the west bank, you can just say you stay at Fatma's hotel.
It is true it is hard to find, based solely on the GPS. Know that this guest house is called "Torya nubian hotel aswan" on google. If Muhamed or a driver does not come to pick you up because you prefer doing things by yourself -as I did- finding the guest house will be challenging. Then once you know, it's actually quite easy to get to. You can trust Muhamed as the fare he'll give you is actually fair. They are VERY generous persons, chill persons, no greed in sight.
My (hot pink) room was really comfortable, nice decor, clean, no smell of any kind. They'll also organize everything according to your schedule while still giving you honest advice (I am an early riser appreciating to see the sites as early as possible).
Thank you both for your warmth and kindness ! People who like comfy shower time will be frustrated in the pink room. But I have seen other bathrooms designed exactly like that in the nubian village. I think it is traditional.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - The property is very colorful and it is located in a peaceful and quite area.Fatima and Mohamed were both really helpful and nice. There is not wifi and the shower doesn't have a proper box around it.
- Clement (10/5): Exceptional - All was perfect. The owner is amazing Nothing
- Juan (1/5): Bad location - I didn't stay at the hostel, I tried to get to the hostel in a taxi and we couldn't get to the location, it's a mountain without electricity and it's difficult for cars to get up. I had to stay in another hotel Location
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Very nice and helpfull people
- Nada (9/5): Superb - The rooms are very clean , Food is yummy , the place is colorful and above all the staff is super friendly , helpful and caring ❤️ The location is 10 -15 mins away from Nuba village but there is transportation always available
- Victor (10/5): Exceptional - It was the most beautiful and charming place we stayed in during our trip to Egypt. We enjoyed this village and the house wholeheartedly. The owner of the house is amazing, she's super caring and attentive of all details. The village itself is the prettiest! We found ourselves in love with this little village just by the river. The rooms are beautiful, colourful, comfortable and super clean. For us, staying here was like a breeze of fresh air and we loved it much. Absolutely nothing. We LOVED staying in Kamel House and the whole village.
- Violeta (10/5): One of the best and unique stays in Egypt. - Unique location. Super nice hosts. Great breakfast. We will definitely book again as it was one of the best we experienced in Egypt.
- Hatim (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you for Having us , the manager was very helpful and polite.
