- Jennifer (8/5): - Location was great and accommodation lovely. Challenge with parking
- Nicole (8/5): - Location was fantastic and the property was very comfortable and easy to access. We loved the balcony and the view of town! The beds were also huge and super comfy and clean. Kitchen lacked some basic (there was only one small scratched pan) and lack of heating in bedrooms
- Lorraine (8/5): Great location in the heart of the town. Very well appointed and comfortable beds. - Very comfortable beds and well appointed, comfortable lounge furnishings. Kitchen had everything required for eating at home. Stayed two nights but everything is provided ie washing machine and drier for longer stays. Balcony is great for outdoor eating. Entrance door is difficult to open.
Shower taps are very hard to turn.
Door to laundry needs attention.
Thought for the price that breakfast food, milk and bread would have been provided.
Guests with mobility issues need to be made aware of the stairs to the apartment.
- Dean (9/5): Thanks for a great stay very clean and relaxing. - Fabulous location and accommodation, walking distance to pubs, bars ,cafes and a short drive to other communities including spas.
Large balcony onto the main street was perfect for afternoon wine n nibbles.
The kitchen is well set up. There is only the 1 bathroom, we were a group of 5 girls, we managed so don't let that deter you!
- Denise (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful spacious apartment in centre of Castlemaine, very comfortable beds & plenty of space to relax.
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Brown (8/5): Very good - Shower, run hot and cold
Noise from building across road, loud band practice with windows open.
- Natalie (8/5): Very good -
- Rowe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nerida (9/5): Superb - The apartment was so large & spacious we could all stretch out. The location was perfect & the balcony was amazing.
Was lovely & clean. Great beds, great shower pressure. THE STAIRS. Were very steep. There was a stair lift but it needed a key so we couldnt use it. Our elderly guest really struggled.
- Lee (10/5): comfortable, clean and very central. - absolutely central location, yet really quiet even for a Friday and Saturday night. lots of space, very comfortable living areas and bedrooms. nothing, the dishwasher is out of action but that didn’t matter.
- Margaret (8/5): In easy reach of the delights of an historic gold town. - Mister Rice is close to everything we wanted to see in Castlemaine. We were middle aged daughter, elderly mother and male cousin, so the separate bedrooms and shared kitchen were ideal. We are all readers so enjoyed the eclectic selection on offer. The kitchen was perfect for self catering, which enabled us to enjoy each other’s company over meals, and the pleasant aspect of town roofs and trees from the balcony. The dishwasher was not in use, so we spent a lot of time washing up. Being of a certain age, we’re attuned to the social opportunities of this too so not all bad.
- Hilary (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for families and small groups. - So spacious, very clean and gorgeous, there was plenty of room for four of us, on a winter break. Nicely presented, with lots of interesting books! We enjoyed the massive TV and cosy couches. There is a full kitchen with all sorts of useful containers and utensils, as well as a few pantry staples.
Easy walk to supermarket, shops, and basically all of central Castlemaine.
Hosts were super-prompt in responding to feedback, and they fixed some small issues straight away. A couple of kitchen appliances are getting old and need attention, microwave oven was replaced during our stay. Because it is in the middle of town, there is some noise at times (delivery trucks, rubbish trucks, neighbouring heating units). The windows seem to leak a lot of heat, which could really be felt in the front bedroom on a cold night.
The one small bathroom (toilet, shower, basin) was a bit tight for us at times, and doesn't match the scale of the rest of the place.
- Lyn (8/5): Very good - Great location. Well equipped. Plenty of space We had trouble with the key code until chap from real estate below showed us how to do it. Advice needs a bit more clarity about putting hand over the screen to start. Perhaps say 'cover screen briefly with back of hand until numbers light up'. All was good after that
