Guest Reviews
- doktorfirdaus (7/5): Beautiful Belgian Hols - Centrally located. very helpful and friendly staff. I personally like the vertical spiral staircase to be very charming. however it did pose a problem as we had difficulty bringing our suitcase up the second floor.
Our recommendation is to have storage for suitcases downstairs for your guests.
Otherwise we had a wonderful stay!
- Cezary (7/5): Świetna lokalizacja i niezła cena za to brak recepcji i małe metraże. - Świetna lokalizacja w samym centrum historycznej części miasta. Ciekawe wnętrze włącznie z zabytkowymi schodami. W sam raz na jedną samotną noc. Plus za pokój socjalny, bo to 1/4 całego metrażu hotelu. Brak recepcji. Brak kontaktu telefonicznego.

- Shahrzad (3/5): - The owner was very pleasant, polite n cooperative. The instruction she provided n communication when I arrived was good. The owner did her best to accommodate. There was a kitchen with tea n coffee available. Everything was clean n neat. The water pressure in the shower was great. The room was cozy n cute. The bed n linen were good. The location couldn’t be better. The stairs in the picture were gorgeous n authentic but… The fact that the building is NOT made or suitable as a guesthouse or anything remotely like that. It’s a shop with rooms above it. There are no sign or name from outside, which is the least of the issues. To access the rooms I had to climb sets of stairs or rather to say twisted ladder. It was sooo narrow n so steep which it was impossible for me to take my suitcase, which is slightly bigger than a carry on, to the room. I had to park my suitcase in the main level in a small cupboard n take a couple of items at the time to my room. It was absolutely inconvenience. The stairs were scary to climb.
- Judit (10/5): -
- franca (8/5): - Las escaleras estrechas caracol... yupiiiii 1 Cucaracha
- Silva (9/5): Good place for young people. Dangerous stairs for elderly. - Authentic place, in heart of city Stairs, should be some visible information prior booking, that you will need to go up to room on very steep, narrow and circular. Imposiible to go with large suitcase. Funny thing- contact person from apartment was more concern that I dont damage stairs than do I got safely up and down.

- Naomi (10/5): Lovely - Incredible location!
- Riccardo (8/5): Confortevole e in pieno centro. Host gentilissimo.
- McNamara (10/5): - What a wee, quirky place to stay. Loved it, loved the stairs, the wee kitchen and the location. Just a fab wee place, All good,
- sasko (10/5): -

- Gerardo (7/5): - Location The spiral staircase!
- Jean-Pierre (10/5): Confort, simplicité. Emplacement hyper central.
- Wilfred (9/5): We really enjoyed the stay. The location was fantastic and host communication was great. Steady away on the stairs :) ca - Location was amazing and the communication with the house was very good, with some good recommendations made for food.
The staircase was tricky but quirky, I liked it. The shower got a bit everywhere, the head needs cleaning or replacing. A softer option on the pillow would have been good too.
- Aileen (1/5): Dangerous place - Location Genuinely unsure how this was ever deemed suitable for rental, the stairs are a death trap, extremely narrow and extremely steep. No alternative exit in the event of a fire, the room we staying at was on the second floor with windows which open fully, another danger, and if there was a fire then the only alternative would be to jump to a certain death. Very basic property
- Christine (9/5): - Perfect location & helpful host. Stairs may be challenging for some people, but if you are young, able-bodied, and traveling with light luggage, it should be fine.
- PANAGIOTIS (9/5): -
- veva de groot (7/5): Prima voor een overnachting. - Centrale locatie. Prima geluids-isolerende ramen.
Heel originele oude draaitrap, zeer smal.
Extremadamente incomoda y bastante peligrosa.
- Juliana (8/5): - A localização era excelente. Quarto aconchegante com ótimo custo-benefício. O ralo do chuveiro estava entupido.
- Sandra (9/5): -
- Katia (8/5): -
- Renee (8/5): It was a very pleasant short stay, and the room was perfect. Beware of the narrow stairs! - It was very homey, and the location ideal. Amazing that you do not hear the street noise, even though it is on a tourist-laden street.
The bathroom was roomy, and the bedroom a nice size. The steps are very steep, as indicated.
I would have loved to have a decaf coffee capsule, but that's a detail!
- Judy (2/5): Checked out on arrival. - Location. Prompt response from host & refund given. Stairs to room very narrow and steep. Hand railing not well secured to wall. Unable to get luggage upstairs as too large. Looked like a shared kitchen. Room had a strong smell of air freshener but appeared clean.
- Ieva (10/5): ♡ - Puiki vieta miesto centre, visi lankytini objektai pasiekiami pėsčiomis.
- Mella (7/5): - The location can't be beat. It was a charming little room. It was noisy. The street below had shop keepers making noise around midnight and then random people all night long. The room was not sound proofed so I woke up several times.
If you are mobility challenged do not book this room. All the rooms are up a very narrow very steep spiral staircase. I thought it was cool but, if you have problems with movement or are too large or have too much luggage you will not make it up these stairs.

- Broekhoven Marco (8/5): -
- Jose (3/5): - The room was clean and the location was perfect. The room was very small, the sink was tiny and especially the spiral stairs, OMG… to go to the third floor were extremely steep and narrow. With luggage it was an ordeal. No a/c so we had to “sleep” with the windows open and the noise from the street, not a hotel…no front desk and no one to greet you, is more like an airbnb where you go in with a code.
- Uxue (8/5): -
- Jean-Marie (9/5): -
- Alain (8/5): - The building, housing and rooms are absolutely lovely. Great decor, stylish and comfortable.
Situated perfectly for our visits to Bozar en de Munt. Walking distance to great restaurants and bars. The water kettle in the kitchen was broken so we weren't able to make ourselves a morning cup of tea, as the microwave and induction cooker seemed irresponsive too.
- Roland (8/5): -
- Yat Wai (3/5): Good for single just backpack, slim and less weight figure and don't need to sleep much - I wanted to share a quick note regarding the staircase. It was passable, but extremely narrow, with very small steps. There’s only a limited space to stand while opening the door, which makes maneuvering quite difficult.
If you're carrying medium-sized or larger luggage, it would be nearly impossible to bring it into the room. Going up or down the stairs requires extra caution due to the tight layout.
Just thought you should be aware in case any adjustments or warnings are needed for future guests. There was no visible signage for the hotel or apartment, which made it difficult to locate. The ground floor appears to be a painting store, which added to the confusion.
While I appreciate that the property is located in a vibrant tourist area, I found the noise levels to be quite disruptive throughout both the day and night. Groups of people frequently gathered and chatted late into the evening and even past midnight, and unfortunately, the sound carried clearly into the room.
Additionally, the bin collection truck began operating around 5:30–6:00 AM, which added to the disturbance and made restful sleep quite difficult.
As mentioned earlier, the staircase was extremely narrow and steep, with very limited space to stand while opening the door. It would be nearly impossible to carry medium or large luggage up safely.
I hope this feedback is helpful for future improvements.
- Connie (7/5): A very nice room in the city center of Brussels. - The property is on the city center of Brussels. Nothing much.
- Liz (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Perfect, quiet, comfortable and clean property to explore the delights of Brussels - Delightful room, with great location, close to many local sights, incredible choice of restaurants and less than 5 minutes from the central station.
Access to the property was exactly as described and my host was incredibly helpful, forwarding a list of local recommendations for dining, drinking and visiting.
Despite being so close to such a lively area, the property was incredibly quiet and I enjoyed a superb night’s rest.
Thank you! As advised in the description, the staircase is narrow.
- Aurore (8/5): Very good - The location is so convenient for walking around the capital, it is close to all the most touristic parts. The decoration of the room and the kitchen is of very good taste. It was really beautiful. Stairs are really beautiful and ancient, but extremely narrow and steep. We needed to be careful when going downstairs to avoid falling.
- Ruth (10/5): Beautiful little apartment in central Brussels. - Delightful apartment, small but beautifully designed with everything needed. Very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Super-central and on a small street, but with windows closed, there is no noise at all. The little kitchen downstairs with coffee was a bonus. And the stairs fairly unique but manageable. Sophie gave us clear directions on entry and suggestions for restaurants and activities around the area. We highly recommend this apartment.
- P (9/5): Superb - Small quirky room in the old town close to centraal station and restaurants and main square. Staff were friendly very helpful. We actuall liked the quirkiness of the narrow spiral stairs and managed to squeeze up with 65l backpacks but I think anything larger could be impossible.
- Timothy (8/5): A lovely property but with some access issues - In many ways I loved this property, It had real character and has obviously been lovingly restored. The room was very white and simple and it was easy to imagine that I'd been taken back into an earlier time. It was very central and therefore very convenient. It was also surprisingly quiet, even though it's so close to the centre of the city. One of the features of the property is a superb old spiral staircase. The details suggest you don't bring big bags, but there's only so far you can go with this if you are staying for several days. I have to admit that I found the stairs really challenging, particularly when I arrived and when I left. I also found it difficult to locate the property. I think there was a picture in the details I was sent but there's a lot to sort out when you arrive in a new city for the first time. I realise that it's better for security if it's not obvious that this is holiday accommodation, but maybe there is a better way to sort this out. I also realise that it's not possible to meet all guests, but I didn't pick up from the details on Booking that this was not a staffed accommodation. One small thing would be to offer some slightly softer pillows.
- Irena (10/5): Exceptional - L'Epicentre has an ideal location, in the very center. The street is lively but not noisy. Though it is an old building it is very well renovated with attention to small details and decorations. The apartment was spotless clean and the bed was comfortable. We also liked the kitchen and the coffee we had there. We were surprised at first by the narrow staircase but got used to it and came to like it as a special feature that gives character to the building.
- Marie (8/5): Perfect for a concert trip - Best location for a concert nearby Stairs are indeed a challenge
- Mats (8/5): Very good - Excellent location close to Grand Place. Sound isolation of the windows ensured that when they were closed, it was very quiet. Easy access at check-in through easy-to-follow instructions. Very narrow, spiral staircase was almost spooky and certainly would have been a problem with major pieces of luggage (which we did not have).
- John (10/5): Simple and charming in the city center. - The location is amazing and the stairs were very clearly stated before we booked. We went into it knowing the stairs were steep but they were a lot steeper and smaller in person. We just had a laugh about it because the price and the location outweigh any issues. The only thing I would encourage is to add a storage locker or something downstairs so that larger suitcases can be stored safely downstairs. This may already be the case with the locked closet.
- Ellen (7/5): Nice room, but not easy to get to due to the very narrow and steep staircase. - Lovely room in a great location. The staircase upstairs - was very narrow and steep. Could barely get a carry-on size bag up.
- Trapper (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (5/5): Passable - The location was the main reason I chose the room, and the truth is that it was great. I didn't want to walk much from the train station because of a kinetic problem. The people who run the rooms also communicate with the clients immediately by mail and are very kind. The stairs of the building are not appropriate, and there is not an elevator. For a Greek with a low budget for travelling, it was a cheaper solution, but the experience with the stairs climbing was very uncomfortable.
- M. (8/5): Very good -
- N (8/5): Very good -
- Maicon (9/5): Very confortable experience - Really good location, close to everything. I arrived, the room was clean and I could find some coffee pods in the communal kitchen. The person handling my booking messaged me to check how things were and if I arrived well. Since this is an historical building, it was a bit noisy when the other residents arrived at night. You can hear everthing, including the street noises.
- Philipp (8/5): Very good -
- Dimitrios (10/5): Fantastic stay in the middle of Brussels -
- Mehmed (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brandon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Laura (7/5): Great stay. Staircase not the best. - Excellent location, right in the middle of the center. It is very close to the main train station. The room was good, and the bed was super comfortable. The building has a kitchen that you can use, where you can have coffee/tea, use the fridge, etc. Please pay attention to the fact that they have a wooden staircase that is 200+ years old. It is very steep, narrow and not the safest. They do not recommend taking large/heavy luggage up the stairs, and I see why. I would only recommend staying if you have a carry-on and are physically able to handle the steep staircase.
Also, because of its location, you can hear lots of noise at night, especially during weekends. It didn't bother us, but you need absolute silence to sleep; it's not the best option.
- Trenae (10/5): Perfection location, comfortable and clean - Best location, walkable from the central station, comfortable, secure and clean It is true the stairs are very steep. Only stay here if you have small luggage. The stairs are gorgeous and I enjoyed using them, but I traveled with a backpack/carryon.
- Imogen (8/5): Perfect for a weekend break - It is fabulously located, close to central station and the Grand Place, on a pedestrian street. Double glazing kept any street noise very minimal.
It’s a historic building with character - the spiral stairs really are impressive, we were well warned about steepness so prepared for this but they will not suit everyone. Having a little kitchen really helps meaning you don’t have to eat out every time. Our room was small but with good storage space, clean and comfortable. Being a historic property the sound proofing between floors isn’t great. We didn’t have a problem as the people above were very quiet but something to be aware of.
There were lots of plates, cups etc in the kitchen but actual cooking equipment was limited, only the frying pan worked on the induction hob. Just a couple more induction-compatible pans and something to stir food with would mean meals could be cooked easily.
- Alison (8/5): We would stay here again- only had carry-on sized luggage so the stairs were not a big deal. - Great location! Very good security. Very comfortable bed! If anything it would be the noise outside. (Not property’s fault)
- Ph. (8/5): Very good -
- Sean (7/5): Wonderful location, quiet, nice room. - Very nice stay. There were very steep stairs that could pose a mobility issue for some.
- Rosa (9/5): Very pretty room in the heart of Bruxelles - I stayed at this structure only for one night on a business trip, but I really enjoyed the very central location and friendly and cooperative host. Very spacious and clean room with pretty decor. I appreciated the complimentary water and espresso and good wifi. The 200 year old staircase is beautiful but it is very narrow (as in many of the old buildings in Belgium), so you need to be extremely careful walking up or down (not very recommended for people with impairments/disabilities)!
- Sindhunatha (8/5): Very good -
- Liliana (8/5): Very good - Great location. Very basic room but clean and comfortable. But the access to the room is awful. A very steep and narrow staircase, even a carryon is problematic to carry up. Not for people with babies oe small kids.
- Kate (5/5): The building was incredible and was gorgeous however it didn’t have air conditioning and we had to leave our bags in sto - The building and room was gorgeous. We couldn’t take our suitcases with us to our room.
- Evelina (9/5): Great for short stay - close to everything - The location was superb! Be aware of extremely narrow old spiral stares! Especially if you have medium-large luggage :D
- Hugo (9/5): Perfect for a city break! - Brilliantly located and very comfortable room. The property manager was fantastic to deal with and offered great suggestions in the local area. Very little not to like but air-conditioning would be a great investment!
