Guest Reviews
- Noble (7/5): Good -
- Sébastien (4/5): Disappointing - The bathroom is big and it was clean The place is difficult to find ... Not even a small sign, a name or a logo outside. Even with the help of passersby in the street it took me half an hour to find the place. And that in a neighborhood that doesn't seem especially safe...
The place is spacious but it's empty and doesn't create a welcoming atmosphere. It is noisy because it's located next to a busy road.
The floor is swept but yet dirty and the sheets....omg, completely worn and I suspect they hadn't been washed...
- Christina (7/5): Amazing host, great location. And some shortcomings... - The host is absolutely incredible. He was super friendly and helpful. The dorm room is quite spacious and even has AC, which is not super common in Cape Verde. The location is also great--between Plateau with lots of restaurants and the market where you can get public transportation anywhere. It's also close to a supermarket and a market where you can get fruits/veggies, etc. The kitchen is absolutely terrible--very few pots, pans, and dishes. (As a single, child-free person, I have more dishes and pots/pans than Cubico Tota has!) Also, it is super hard to find--it is on the top floor of the apartment building... Also, the host said he would pick me up at the airport, but missed all my calls and messages so I ended up taking a taxi to the hostel. While the host is fantastic, but is not very knowledgeable about exactly WHERE in the market you can get buses to go to various places on the island. Finally, there is only ONE bathroom/shower/toilet for the whole hostel so during "busy" times, you'll have to wait to use it...
- Prince (10/5): Exceptional -
- Essadik (10/5): Great host - The host is incredible and friendly, waited for me even when the flight arrival is at midnight waited a couple hours more with the passport control.
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptionally friendly owner - I stayed in Cubico Tota one week and it was really positive experience. I had everything I needed and the owner was exceptionally friendly and caring about all your needs. He was answering all the questions with a smile and commitment. What I didn’t like at the beginning in Praia was that it’s quite busy and noisy city. So if you are choosing the location in the centre you can hear the noise from outside.
- Yasuhiro (9/5): Very nice choice in Praia - Very friendly and kind staff
Reasonably priced
Transportation from/to hotel with reasonable rates Location a little remote from Plateau, but can walk up there somehow.
- Takaki (9/5): Superb - Close to market where I can eat cheap local dish and minivan station for Tarrafal.
The guy running this accommodation is polite and very helpful.
Apartment is clean and there is security locker.
Wifi is fastest during my travel in Africa for more than a month. It may be difficult to reach accommodation unless I read instruction carefully.
City center of Praia is little far on the hill.
- J (9/5): Superb - The pick-up from the airport in the middle of the night (with flight delay) went perfectly well!
The apartment setting is simple, still comfy and super clean. A/c in the dorm also, lockers, great wifi, kitchen to share, good location to get around by foot!
Big Thanks to the brilliant host Carlos!
- Ian (4/5): Noisy busy basic - The guys who worked there were pleasant to speak with. Not very clean. No bins in kitchen or bedroom. Bathroom was mostly dirty and busy. Noisy from busy street almost all day. Kitchen had very few good cooking tools. Uncomfortable bed.
- Juliana (5/5): Passable -
- Nikolaj (9/5): Superb - Nice room with basic equipment, comfy bed and cooling fan. Big terrace, kitchen and social room with some gym equipment to tone your muscles. Bathroom is okayish.
Your friendly host Carlos will arrange with ease anything you need.
Very recommended hostel for good price and great location.
- Jelena (8/5): They try really hard to accommodate and be helpful. - The location was excellent. The room was large with a terrace. The apartment is big.
They helped me get a SIM card.
They try very hard to conserve resources like water, electricity, which I appreciate. Despite the info on the website (including pictures) it was hard to find the hostel.
I didn't know there was no hot water in the shower so we boiled water. Was it mentioned on the website?
*** After spending more time in Cape Verde I realized that's typical of a budget accommodation.
Kitchen - more dishes?
- Michael (10/5): If you want a cheap and friendly place to stay, look no further - The host Carlos was awesome. He helped with so much while I was there. He even cooked dinner and shared it. All good
- Alfredo (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irena (10/5): Lovely and basic apartment - First: amazing host <3 One of the nicest people on Earth.
An apartment has big living room, huge bathroom (although there is some waiting time), balcony and comfy basic rooms.
It's about 10 min walking to Sucupira Market and Plato. You can hear traffic, but it didn't really bother me.
- Dr (7/5): Good -
- Maddahi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paulius (8/5): Very good - The price, won't find anything cheaper in Praia. Got sick from the air conditioning turned on at night. Watch out for that.
- Danielle (7/5): Good - Carlos is super friendly and helpful. Bed was good. Loved the little curtains around the bed in the dorm to give you some privacy. The kitchen was dirty the whole time, which made me feel uncomfortable when cooking.
Toilet paper was finished several times which was very inconvenient. Would suggest to always put some reserve rolls in the bathroom

- Curisoo (10/5): Perfect place in Praia, Cabo Verde - I highly recommend this hostel, if you are staying in Praia it will be your best choice. Perfect location, right in the city center. The owner of the hostel, Carlos, is a very nice person who will certainly help you organize your stay on the island of Santiago. Well-equipped rooms, access to the kitchen. Definitely worth it.
- Ivaldinho (5/5): Passable -
- Goedele (9/5): Superb - Living like a local in the heart of Praia. Carlos is the most beautiful and warm hearted soul you can wish for, helping out with everything you need. I recommend you hire him as a guide too, to discover the city of Praia, I had such a wonderful time and lots of fun. I also felt very safe here, as a solo female traveller. Grateful for everything!
- Murat (10/5): perfect stay in Praia - Nice good secure welcoming place, I liked my stay, very peaceful, small shops around, perfect location to pick up buses to make daily trips near by villages, helpful and always smiling personals paying with credit card would have been better :)))

- Nabil (7/5): Good - I spent only few hours at night between 2 flights but I am greatfull for the help I received to book a taxi for the airport. Very difficult to find especially at night , taxi did not know the place. I found it only thanks to a very friendly neighbour who walked with me lookong for the place at 11pm and even he called the manager to ask for the exact location. Thanks Praia people.
